Windows 8 upgrade - factory reset problem

Hi, one question. I have upgraded my Lenovo U310 from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I chose only uprade, so my folders stay. But now, I want to do the clean instalation, I bought backup DVD's from Microsoft. It doesn't work and it say's : some system informations doesn't exist. How can I fix this? Thank you for your answers.

True. I'm still not sure which is the problem... I guess you're having difficulties explaining in english. Maybe someone can lend you a hand? (I don't speak czech, so...)

    Ive owned an MSI gt70 laptop for around 6 months
    Attempting to factory reset my laptop since its got clogged up with lots of crap and i feel that it has slightly dipped in performance
    Attempted to do this via General > Remove and Reinstall windows, with no joy telling me i need a bootup disk/usb
    So i have purchased one of ebay that seems to have done the trick on alot of other machines, however i am unable to boot from it
    I have attempted to boot from it via Advanced start up, however this menu doesnt seem to have as many options as other videos ive seen e.g doesnt have the troubleshooting option or UEFI firmware options

    What laptop do you have? GT70 0NE? 20C? What? GT70 helps, but it's not enough.
    Did you bother making the recovery DVD's/ISO's using MSI Burn Recovery? This should have popped up the first time you booted your computer.

  • How can i do a reinstall / repair of windows without a factory reset on E530?

    Hi, I have a Lenovo E530 laptop, i want to do a repair / reinstall of windows, a disc didn't come with my laptop it just has the setup files on the partition, but i cannoy find any way to do a reinstall without losing everything and having to do a full factory reset.
    Does anyone know how i can do one, surely i must be able to somehow?

    As per the query we understood that you are facing the issue with factory reset on your ThinkPad E530.
    If you have not done any changes in the HDD partition, you can use F11 to perform the system recovery.

  • Factory reset problem lumia 925 HELP NEEDED!!!

    I factory reset my lumia 925 last night and the home screen will now only display 2 cogs turning and wont switch on, iv tried using the power and volume keys to reset but the problem persists, the handset was charging normally until i factory reset it and now wont take charge either, it displayed the charging symbol and appeared to be charging but is still in the red after several hours of charging! Anyone had a similar problem or can anyone shed any light on a possible cause but more importantly a solution to the problem? Lost without the phone!

    Hi deadweight1102, welcome to the HP Forums.  I understand you are unable to perform a factory reset. If the computer shows you the F11 option to do a factory reset, and it is not responding, then it is possible the recovery partition is damaged or non-existent.
    Do you have recovery media, or Windows XP disks?

  • HELP PLEASE!!! Factory reset problem

    Right, so i started a factory reset and it had finished on itunes, then i looked at my phone and the bar came up, then i had to unplu because i had to go, and my phone wont come off the itunes and usb port picture. So i tried to plug my phone into a different coomputer nad opened itunes and my phone wasnt even being recognised. So i checked 'My Computer' and it wasnt there and the cable is completely fine. HOW DO I FIX IT!!! My phone is and iPhone 4.

    Not sure why you unplugged your phone in a middle of a restore, wasn't like you would be able to use it.
    Anyways you will have to do this steps a few times If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • SF300-24P console and factory reset problem

    My company just bought a SF300-24P, got it configured without much issue.  Today I try to get into it and I can't.  Tried via HTTP and console and nothing happens.  Decided to try to reset it using the button on the front.  Using the documentation, I held down the button for over 10 seconds.  Didn't reset to factory defaults, tried again and rebooted it, still nothing.  What I am I doing wrong.
    Also nothing comes up on console window and I'm using the setting for Hyper Terminal that the documentation says I should use.

    I know It's late but I believe it is importante to make that register.
    I just had the same problem and the solution was aroung the cable. When I used a straight serial cable, It worked well. Check the pinout/wiring:
    1 --> 1
    2 --> 2
    3 --> 3
    4 --> 4
    5 --> 5
    6 --> 6
    7 --> 7
    8 --> 8
    9 can be left open
    When I was trying to figure the problem out, I found Cisco 300 CLI Reference Guide (ver 1.3.7) wich tells we could use a null-modem or crossover serial cable. But it's not true.
    Of course I must consider I was using an USB to serial adapter (my notebook doesn't have serial port). Perhaps it has created the straight cable issue. I don't know if it will occurs when using a native serial port.

    And I believe it will be interesting to Cisco check the cable pinout and add it on the manuals or website. I just can't find information about db9 f-f cable on any Cisco documentation (about 300 series, of course).

  • Factory Reset problem (x200)

    Using Rescue and Recovery, I reset my Thinkpad x200 to its factory settings.  However, I left my external hard drive plugged in during the process.  As a result:
    - I get error messages at start up: "Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\PWMTR32V.DLL
    - In addition, many applications are unaccessible (Internet Explorer).  
    - When I try to run Rescue and Recovery, nothing happens (it looks like it is loading initially but then no interface appears). 
    - When I use the Thinkvantage button on boot I don't get an option to restore, just resume startup, and enter BIOS or boot from a temporary device. 
    The letter of the HD have also changed: SW_Preload (D, Lenovo (Q, and SERVICEV003 (S.  Note, my external drive is labled as C:  
    - When I try installing Rescue and Recovery 4.2 it says "There is not enough space on drive C:\ to extract this package."  Which makes sense, when my external hard drive isn't plugged into my laptop.  When I plug in my external hard drive, it continues to extract the files but then I get an error message just as the Install Shield Wizard is about to finish: "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.  This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed."
    - When I try installing Windows Installer I get the error message: "Not enough storage is available to process this command"
    My warrant is expired.  No idea what else I should try.  Windows Update doesn't work.  I have trouble installing programs (ex. Chrome).  Lenovo technical support says given that they cannot determine the issue unless I sent it in, they can only quote me the maximum repair cost of $500+ . . .  

    There are several reasons of troubles IMHO.
    1. Where did you recover the laptop to the factory stage from?
    2. Since I don't know the volumes and letters of x200 partitions did you remeber them? I think one of the problem now are matted partition letters. I think the SERVICE partition should be S: or w/o letter in factory version, SW_Preload - C;, Lenovo - Q:.
    Do you have external Lenovo Recovery media with WinPE environment? Do you have Factory Recovery media on bootable externel device? Do you have access to the partition with archives of images for Factory Recovery Disks creating (I think it's Q: )?
    You can't install the second copy of R&R on one machine so you see the such strange error message: "There is not enough space on drive C:\ to extract this package."
    Also, what does your external drive consists?

    The hard reset wipes your phone memory only and will leave the memory card or mass storage untouched. If you lost some apps, they where installed on the phone memory.
    To install your applications downloaded with Ovi store, please launch Nokia Store app on your phone, look for the application you want either in the application catalogue or select My Stuff > Download history, 
    then select the item and click Download button.
    The other way to download applications involves opening the Nokia Store website http://store.nokia.com  with your PC web browser.
    When you have Nokia Suite running on your computer and your phone is connected to the computer with a USB cable, you can easily search and download free applications directly to your phone.
    Please note that the maximum amount of re-downloads is 10 times per application.

  • Freezes during "starting windows" message even after factory reset.

    I've gone through diagnostic tests and they've shown it wasn't a hardware error. After a failed update to windows 10 my computer rolled back to windows 7. After the rollback when attempting to boot win 7 It froze and hung on the starting windows screen.  At first i was able to boot in safe mode and navigate the desktop and drivers, but after plenty of failed fixes i had to result to a factory reset with alienrespawn. After the factory reset the issue still persists, and i can no longer boot up in safe mode. When i do, it tries to do first time installation and says that i has to reboot in normal mode to complete first time config. My computer didn't come with a disk so i can't re-install windows 7, and factory reset dosen't seem to fix the issue. All I need is to resolve this issue so i can get back with a clean slate to upgrade to windows 10. Any ideas?

    I'm currently using a Acer Aspire 7551-3749 Notebook Laptop that is about more than 7 years old, but i'm upgrading to Windows 10, completely factory resetting (maybe) before I install Windows 10.

    I'm a frequent poster on the Windows 10 forums, and my advice to folks in this situation (which, by the way includes me since one of my Win10 upgrades went badly, as well) is that an old OS that works well on your machine is vastly preferrable to a new OS that works badly. Installing Win10 messes with the partition structure on the hard drive, nearly always, this results in corrupting any original Recovery partition on the drive -- in fact, the EULA mentions that you won't be able to use that to restore your original OS, but it's buried down in there where no one will see it. Presuming you do not have a full image backup of your machine (or you would have said so), at this point, about all you can do is contact HP support and order Recovery Media.  This will be a set of DVDs and a CD, and you can then use them to restore your machine to its original condition.  Unfortunately, this will remove all data, settings, and applications from your drive.  And, given that yours is not a new machine (I presume), HP will require you to purchase that media.

    Had to do a factory reset on the printer. When setting up ePrint again, I put in my email address and it says that it's already in use. The ePrint website assigns a non-sensical email address to the printer. How do I get it to use the original email address without giving me an error?

    I afraid you will not be able to use the previous email address.
    Any ePrint address unassigned from a device is ocked and cannot be used by any user for a 6 months period due to security reasons.

  • If I Factory Reset My PC "AFTER A YEAR" of Windows 10 Released, I Still Able Upgrade to Windows 10?

    HELP~!!!I currently running on Windows 8.1. If I upgrade to Windows 10 "now" and factory reset my pc "after one year" of Windows 10 released, (that means Windows will go back to Windows 8.1??)Am I still able to upgrade to Windows 10 that time? Thank you.

    My understanding is the free upgrade is good for 1 year meaning July 29,2016, it no longer exists. So you won't be able to upgrade for free after that date. When you upgrade I believe there's a choice to keep your old Windows version so you can go back to it (8.1 or whatever it is).

  • IOS 7 upgrade problem forced factory reset

    I decided to try IOS 7 on my iPad 2. That was a huge mistake! After several attempts to download, it finally completed. The Install button was finally active, so I tried to install, and it indicated that the update was not available. I tried this several times with no luck. Finally I decided to try it from the PC. I loaded iTunes and saw that there was an IOS software update available, but in order to do that I had to upgrade iTunes to 11.1. Well, the Download iTunes Update button clicks but doesn't actually do anything. I eventually wound up just going to iTunes and downloading it again. It went through the install and finally updated.
    So I connected the iPad and it tried to load the IOS 7 update. In the middle of that iTunes just closed, no errors, nothing. Opening it back up, it tells me I must reset my iPad to factory settings. At this point I'm boiling, but I went ahead with it because I figured I would be able to just restore from a backup, which I fortunately created before all of this started.
    Well, iTunes was able to load the IOS 7 update on the iPad, but after it restarted from the factory reset, things have once again taken a turn for the worst. Now when I connect the iPad, it tries to access iTunes store, and tells me it can't, and to check the network and try again. Everything else that I do online is working fine from the PC so I know it's not that, but I restarted anyway. No change.
    So now I have an iPad 2 with IOS 7 in factory reset state, that I can't restore from backup or even get connected in iTunes. I only bought this iPad in the last month, so I supposedly have 90 days support from Apple, but every method I try to get support for it is either to send it in or take it to an Apple store. This is a nightmare. What should I do?

    My iPad 3 downloaded ios7, rebooted, started to execute the installation (same as my iPhone did).
    Then it got hung up half way through the execution.
    Have stared at the boot screen with a bar showing half-loaded for 12 hours.
    Several times tried hard reboot. Keeps getting stalled at half way.
    About to turn it into a discuss and throw it into the ditch!!
