  • Keyboard USB problems on booting windows xp

I have a problem with a keyboard and mouse logitech as USB. If I activate BIOS's option USB KB/Storage Support, windows xp does not boot and if I deactivate the option, the keyboard does not work until does not come to the screen of logon. Someone knows since I can solve it?, happens to me so much in a mobo MSI Neo4 Platinum and in a MSI Neo2 FIS2R. Thank you in advance.
    A greeting

Make sure you are plugging into a rear port unless you have carefully checked the front ports wiring harness. If pin 9 is still on the front port harness then you have a USB problem. Also make sure you are not using the KB through a hub as some hubs won't work. Use the latest bios as it has legacy device support as well and it must be turned on in Bios in order to work well with most KB's.

  • N8 belle USB problems

hey.. just updated my n8 to belle..
im having a really hard time whenever i connect my usb to the computer as mass storage or ovi suite..
whenever i connect my phone to the pc.. i can barely use my phone.. no apps or anything plus its very slow ( i dont remember having this kind of problem with the older versions).
then after i disconnect it.. my phone always freezes completely.. i have to do a hard reset everytime i connect it to the pc which is really annoying..
any1 else here having the same problem?

    @philvio69
Something certainly not right here and strange that device hangs irrespective of whether in Nokia/Ovi Suite or mass storage mode(s) as you would stop the latter via taskbar before removing device.
Have you tried connecting your N8 as a Windows USB mass storage device to another PC just to confirm this behaviour?

  • MS-6390: Return Of The USB Problem!

Almost a year ago I posted a thread regarding a USB problem  in which after a few hours runtime, the USB ports stop  working. Having reinstalled Windows, I followed the  original thread to fix the problem again but this time, it  hasn't work. The old thread for reference is; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=49727.0
but I shall try and include everything important here so it  shouldn't be needed.
    Firstly the nature of the problem;
Any new device plugged into them is not recognisied and  Windows advises that it is the device that is  malfunctioning.
Restarting the computer will eliminate the problem, however  upon rebooting, the computer tends to get stuck at what may  be the memory count. If left for 10 minutes, the memory  amount comes up and the computer boots normally. This is  circumvented by temporarily (one second) removing power to  the power supply by pulling the plug or flicking the switch  at the back.
[It may or may not be relevant that the HDD activity  indicator is lit for approximately 30 seconds of this 10  minute period]
Upon switching the computer on again, the computer boots up  normally and the USB ports continue to function for another  variable period of time.
This problem occurs if there are no devices plugged into  the USB, any single device (printer, gamepad, mobile phone)  or any combination.
It should also be noted that if the computer crashes due to  any of many unrelated reasons after this problem has  arisen, and I use the reset button to make it reboot, the  10 minute reboot problem occurs again but appears  differently on screen in that it actually says 'memory  check' or words to that effect with a space where the  normally RAM amount goes, a  '+'  and another empty space  where the memory reserved for onboard graphics normally  goes (i.e. memory check:       +     )
I've tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling those  downloaded from VIAs website for my chipset.
My USB ports are set not to power down to save power in  device manager.
The multi-card reader (plugged directly into the  motherboard) also stops functioning when the USB ports go  down - power light stays on, activity light stops flashing  (occasionally power light turns off). Unplugging it from  the motherboard does not resolve the issue.
I want to resolve this issue so the computer is trouble-free when I give it my mum to learn from.
Comp. specs in signature. Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to dig deeper...  Soon this computer will only be using a single 80 gig HD, and I'll remove the fan controller (it'll be mums computer). I'll then be able to try just using sp1a.
This PSU I'm using is reviewed here with a several others. (the model number is the same, but the one tested doesn't appear to be dual rail - they actually state the number slightly incorrectly, but it's correct in the picture of the label they show.
I think it performed quite well, being one of only two that were able to keep producing (just) over 1 v at 100% load, whilst most others just plumetted. A significant but probably not damaging drop to 4.87v on the 5v rail and again 3.26 on the 3.3v rail all at 100% load (which you're never supposed to due to the PSU anyway). It got a recommended award since apparently it doesn't have many features but I don't think I'm in need of any features it lacks.
Furthermore - at the back it has a control for fan speed. Currently set on Auto, it maintains the same fan speeds (audiability) as on Low - thus I conclude it has headroom to push itself if necessary (in which case the fans would spin faster).
Apart from someone who said they're "cheapo", I havn't yet found any negative comments regarding Jeantech PSUs.

  • Shuffle USB Problem - Some Observations

I decided to start a new thread with some additional observations I have made regarding the Shuffle and USB problems. Some of this already appeared as a reply to the "ipod usb" thread. Anyway recapping from my previous post:
When plugged into the USB port of my machine, the front LEDs (above the control area) flash the following:
GREEN and ORANGE (YELLOW?) flash together for between 1/4 and 1/2 second. This is followed by the GREEN LED alone for about 1.5 seconds. 3 seconds of nothing, then it repeats. The battery condition LED on the back (below the ON/OFF switch blinks ORANGE for about 1/4 second every 4 seconds.
Plugging the Shuffle into another computer (a laptop), the Shuffle is recognized and the LEDs behave normally.
Now the weird thing is that the Shuffle had worked on the machine where it is now not recognized. In fact the iTunes 7.0.1 diagnostics show the serial number of the Shuffle as the last iPod connected. Also, the USB on the iTunes machine is a USB 1.0 and on the laptop is USB 2.0.
    NEW OBSERVATIONS:
My 20GB Click Wheel iPod works fine under 7.0.1. The fact that it works leads me to believe the USB port and power are fine. If it the USB port can drive a hard disk iPod, it better be able to drive a Shuffle!
I loaded up the version of iTunes that came with the Shuffle on another Windows 2000 box I have. The Shuffle was recognized and did a RESTORE on it. Windows even recognized it. The version of Windows IS NOT as currently patched as the computer on which I have iTunes 7.0.1 installed.
I uninstalled iTunes 7.0.1 and installed version 6.0. Aside from 6.o not starting because some file got converted, Win2000 still did not recognize the Shuffle.
    So here are my thoughts:
    1) A recent Windows 2000 patch causes Shuffles to be ignored by the OS. There is a comment about a problem like this with XP, but I was not able to find anything Win2000 related. The machine I am having problems with is up to dat with regard to patches.
    2) If V7.0.01 is the problem, even uninstalling it and reinstalling an old version of iTunes leaves some part of the driver or something that still causes problems.
    3) The Phillips Pronto remote software I installed somehow causes a bad interaction with only the Shuffle. Remember, my click wheel iPod still works!
Right now I am leaning towards an issue specific to Windows2000 and the Shuffle. Maybe a conspiracy to get us all to buy Zunes?
If anyone has additional observations or suggestions on how to fix the problem, I (and a bunch of other people) would really like to hear from you.
    Thanks!
    Don

Okay, I got focused on the fact that other machines
would recognize my Shuffle, but not my main machine.
It dawned on me that the Windows Registry stores
information about USB devices whether or not they
are plugged in, so I snooped around and found the
    entries for the iPod.
I did some searches and found a reference to this MS
    KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539/en-us
Basically describes how to show the "hidden" (i.e.
removed USB) devices. Went into the USB section and
deleted the 2 entries I had for iPods (my Shuffle and
    20GB click wheel).
Plugged my Shuffle in and BINGO! Windows recognized
the Shuffle and iTunes 7.0.1 recognized the Shuffle!
In fact, as I write this post, my poor little
Shuffle is having my jogging play list reinstalled
since it got wacked by the 'restore' on the other
    machine.
Bottom line, it looks like I managed to solve my
green and orange LEDs of death problem!
    Your mileage may vary!
    Good luck!
    Don
Yes, great, this is a fix for this problem. Thank you very much.

  • L505D-LS5001 no audio / no usb problem

i been having problems with my audio and usb drive, allready try installing drivers  and nothing..
the audio tells me no audio output installed.
and the usb and sd card slot wont work eider.  runnning windows 7 32bit , audio driver is microsoft audio highdefiniton with the yellow (!)
when i try to install laptops drivers go to the best drivers allready install.
usb problem i really dont know whats  the problem..Laptop still on warranty.
    Any help please

I have run into this same issue; it seems to occur that in device manager, no USB host is even present.   Audio just has a red "X" on it.
I've tried installing the drivers, updates.
I restored from the Restore discs from Toshiba (which just crash)
I've done an install from a straight WIn7 X64 disc (which works, but then Red "X")
    I've tried changing memory, HDD..
I've tried bootable LInux, which also doesn't see a USB controller.
This is very annoying.  This seems to have happened after someone flashed the 1.10 BIOS onto this (I have an L505D-LS5007)
Something here is very amiss, and a laptop with  no USB, no Audio is almost worthless.  It's as though the BIOS control for the southbridge is wrong.  I've tried re-flashing with 1.10, no difference.. I'd love to be able to rollback to 1.00, but I can't even find it.

  • DCS-TX 7 Sony camera USB problems

I bought a Sony TX 7 camera and in the manual it tells you, that you can connect the camera to the USB Port, but it doesn't work. Leopard doesn't recognize the camera. When I take the card out and put it in a card reader, then I have know problems.
    Windows no problem
More people have problems with this?

What are you expecting to happen when you connect it via USB? Did you try opening iMovie to see if it sees it? Did you want iPhoto to grab content from the installed SD card?
Does System Profiler see it in your list of USB devices?
Is it plugged directly into one of your Mac's USB ports?
You say that Leopard doesn't see it. Do you have all of your software updates installed?
If you open /Applications/Utilities/Console and File > Open system.log do you see any USB messages there? If so, paste them here.

  • New USB-problem? (K7N2G-L)

Did a search of the forum but didn't find any report that seemed the same (sorry if I missed it)
When turning the system on, USB-devices are most of the time not recognized - all settings are ok, the drivers are there, no problems I can discover - until I remove and reattach my USB-devices. At the next soft reboot, they will still be recognized. If I turn the machine off again, I'll have to reseat everything again, kind of uninteresting and tedious after a couple of weeks now.
I have the latest BIOS (3.3), all devices work flawlessly after reseating, and the fun part is that this phenomenon occurs in both Windows 2000 Pro (all updates installed) and Mandrake Linux 9.0 (all updates installed).
The system is currently a little OC'ed, but this happened on the vanillasystem as well. The currents are well withing specs according to the hardware manager of W2K, and all voltages are also within spec (says Hmonitor and AIDA32). I'm at a loss. Any ideas appreciated

I'd doubt it is my memory, but Bonz, sure, here's my entire spec and how I run it minus the PSU. I can dismantle the machine and check what specs it has if you wish:
    MSI K7N2G-L (MS-6570) BIOS rev 3.3
    Athlon XP1800+
    2x TwinMOS PC2700 CL2 256Mb (in dual channel)
    IBM Deskstar 180GXP 80Gb ATA-100 (on IDE0)
    Compaq DRD8120P DVD (on IDE1)
    Samsung CDR(W) SW-408B (on IDE1)
    Compaq MV740 17" Monitor
Tt Volcano 11 XE CPU cooler
    Tt DDR-coolers (1 active w/fan, 1 passive)
    2x 8cm Papst chassis fans
    1x 8cm Delta chassis fan
    1x 4cm fan on mainboard
    PSU: 360W
    PS/2:
     Kinesis Ergo Elan keyboard
     Logitech Trackman Marble +
    USB:
     Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D
     Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP
     Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse
     Flashmate 4-in-1 Memorymedia-to-USB adapter
     Sharp Zaurus SL-5000D w/cradle
I'm running at 10.5x175FSB (ie 1842MHz) and the memory at 3-2-2 CL2. Don't let that scare you though, as this USB-problem occurs also at 133 and 166FSB, and with memorytimings by SPD (horrendously slow). Nothing is warm and I've installed a fan at the Mainboard heatsink to keep it cooler too.
As I said, this occurs in W2K Pro (SP3) and Mandrake Linux 9.0.
I'd expect behaviour like that from a severely OC'ed system, but not from my modest OC (or from no OC at all). I even backed down a few MHz to let the poor onboard GFX have an easier life 'til that 4800SE ends up inside it. Then there'll be no telling what will happen...
(Sidenote: the DirectX-tests (DxDiag) says the on-board sound do not support hardware buffers. As the SB Live do hardware buffers, that would mean the onboard sound is in some way inferior to a Live from the non-soundquality point of view but rather from system performance?)
EDIT: wonkanoby, I have tried your solution. I'll tell if it seems to help or not. Thx.

  • FISR2 USB problems

I have a K8T Neo FISR2 mobo and am experiencing some strange USB problems. I have a DLink 7 port USB2.0 hub with a few things attached to it.  That is the only usb item directly hooked up to my PC. When I first start up the machine, about 50% of the time the usb doesn't seem to be connect to the hub. The green lights go on as the PC boots, but once it gets into Windows, they go out and nothing appears connected. If I unplug the hub and plug it back in again, I can usually get the PC to recognize the hub and the devices connected to it. I have tried moving the hub to different ports on the PC and re-installing the drivers, but neither of those seem to fix the problem.
    Any ideas?
    Ryan

Because I like having the USB ports accessible as opposed to moving the PC everytime I want to remove or add a device.
Plus it doesn't really make a difference.  I had a friends external USB hard drive hooked up directly to the back and XP didn't recognize that either.
It's almost like XP is shutting off the USB ports.

  • H61M-P31(g3) USB Problems

    Dear Sirs,
I am setting up an XP box for a customer and when I tried installing XP, it looked like it was reading the CD, but nothing would show up on the screen. So I plugged in a USB CD ROM and tried again. Still nothing happened. I then put a W2k8 installation CD in the internal SATA CD rom and all started loading fine. I shut everything down and tried a Windows 7 installation CD and again, everything worked fine. But when I tried the XP CD again, it failed. I swapped out the USB Keyboard with a PS2 Keyboard and the XP started loading fine.
Q - Is this USB problem going to plague me if we ever swap the PS2 Keyboard with a USB Keyboard??

I am not sure what the problem was. However, after getting a fresh install of XP done (using a PS2 Keyboard and a USB mouse), I installed all the MSI drivers from the CD and then downloaded and installed about 130 XP updates. I then rebooted the computer and swapped the PS2 keyboard with the USB keyboard and all worked fine.
I did a fresh install of XP just about 3 weeks ago using that same USB keyboard on an ASUS/AMD board and everything worked fine. That is why I originally assumed that the issue was with the BIOS on this MSI board. After reading through a couple of posts on this BBS, I found another user who had some problems with USB on this board also.
    Thanks for your replies.

  • Strange USB problem

I recently returned my iPod photo. When copying songs onto the replacement it couldn't stay connected to my PC for more than about 15 minutes - which is a problem when you are trying to sync an entire 60GB.
Anyway the old iPod had some USB issues, so I continued on thinking that perhaps it was my computer's fault. It's gotten worse recently and often when I connect the iPod the computer can't recognize it at all.
Today I was updating my friend's 60GB video iPod and it suddenly hit me that it has no such USB problems and works perfectly - on the same cable.
My iTunes library is on my WindowsXP PC, but I also have an iBook. As a test I decided to see how the iPods worked with it. Both work perfectly on the same USB cable!
so, I have a photo iPod that doesn't work with my Windows PC, but works perfectly with my iBook, and a video iPod that works perfectly with both.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong? I'm tempted to take it to the Apple store, but I guess they only have Apple computers to test it on, and so will tell me nothing's wrong with it.

haha, I went back and was advised to reinstall Windows! I like to think of myself as quite decent at managing my computer, however my last reinstall of windows was well over a year ago, so I thought "why not?".
I'm now all reinstalled, and the iPod has just been connected. It's now trying to sync a full 60GB, I'll check in on it again tomorrow morning

  • New USB Problems - USB Device Not Recognized

I've had Ultimate x64 installed for awhile now.  It's gone through some growing pains (mostly NVIDIA-related BSOD issues) but it's usually pretty stable.  About a week ago it started having USB problems.
I have a SanDisk ImageMate USB 2.0 card reader that suddenly stopped reading my camera media.  I also have an HP photosmart 7960 that stopped printing (I was using drivers for another printer, per instructions from HP, because this printer doesn't have Vista drivers).  My Memorex flash drive also no longer works, and it no longer sees my Garmin GPS.  They all say "USB Device Not Recognized".
I contacted HP and they determined that my USB needed to be rebuilt.  This is what I did:
    Unplugged all USB devices.
    Removed all related USB software.
Booted up in safe mode and went to Device Manager and uninstalled, in this order: USB root hubs, then USB host controllers.
Even in safe mode, I couldn't get everything to stay deleted.  As soon as I deleted a USB host controller it would reinstall itself and install a root hub.
I rebooted, and now I'm trying to install the SanDisk card reader.  It installs it, and then there is an exclamation point next to "USB Mass Storage Device" in Device Manager.  I've tried to update the driver (also by having it look in C:\Windows and all subfolders) and it says "Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run.  The problem code is 10."
So I seem to be stuck with no USB.  I've been throwing new hardware at Vista, determined not to go back to XP.  However, I'm sure I can't work without USB.  What should I do at this point?
    Thanks!

WHY hasn't anyone replied to this thread?  This is a huge issue, and I am certain millions are affected.  Glowball, did you find a solution.
I have had major issues with my PC Card (PCIMIA SLOT) Adapter TYPE I & II Compact Flash Card Readers, which were plug and play in XP, give the same behavior - now you see it , now you don't!  None of the manufacturers were willing to provide any acknowledgement nor certify their devices for VISTA.  However, on the MS Support site I did find the attached instruction for a Reg Edit which allows the assignment of an IRQ to the PC Card Adapter in VISTA - apparently this was not required in XP (is this an advance in the OS??? I think not!).  IRQ 16 was assigned, and now works great on my Vista Home Premium laptop.
On my other Vista Business laptop, I have a PC Express Cardslot - haven't tried an Adapter for SD + cards yet there, but supposed to not have the same issues, I believe.  However, I am having the same issue Glowball describes above with my USB  Card reader. It is USB 2.0 high speed certified and has been working great for Readyboost with an 8 GB SD card inserted and adding 4 GB of Readyboost "ram".  However, when I also inserted a CF card into the adjacent slot of the same card reader, it has become an "unrecognized device" as noted above.  Tried unplugging, replugging USB cable.  Although still displayed in My Computer and Explorer, the drive contents are not updated or active and cannot be opened - get "drive not present error" and the USB error noted above.
I am unwilling to delete the USB drivers/device EVERY time I need to work with a CF card.  Surely there is a registry correction for this issue.  It must also tie into this IRQ issue noted with the PCIMIA card readers above as well?
    Anybody know or CARE?

  • USB Problem with iMac

    I have a USB problem with a 2007 iMac.
It appears that 1 of the usb ports is faulty, when in OS X 10.6.2 I constantly get "because a usb device is drawing too much power" popup. Usually 3-5 popup eventually.
I used Boot Camp to boot into Windows 7 and Device Manager can see the ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2832 as a problem. I can disable it without an problems.
The question is: Is there any way to either disable that pop-up warning in Os X or disable that specific port so I don't get the pop-ups.
I performed all updates and things like PRAM reset and SMC reset.
Its not under Apple Care if your wondering.
    Thanks,
    Message was edited by: DrWickman

So does that mean all the ports work properly, even after getting that message?
If you start up from your Mac OS X installation disc (a different Mac OS X system), do you still get this error message? You can do so by inserting the disc and restarting with the C key held down. When you get to the Installer screen, you can do things like run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Does that message still appear?
Also, you said you reset PRAM and SMC, but make sure you followed these procedures
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Apple recently changed the procedure a bit. While going through it disconnect ALL cables. If you have been connecting the iMac to a crowded or old power strip, connect to directly to a wall outlet, at least during this test. Power it up initially with nothing connected, except the power cord. Note if that message appears. If it does not, connect just your keyboard/mouse, use it that way for a while, and note if that message appears. If all is well, connect the remaining peripheral devices.
I don't know of a way to disable that message without disabling all the USB ports.
