It would be cool if you would take a few moments to actually read what the official statement says instead of blowing up a storm on a non issue.

Replying with your on-point issue you sound like a broker record even if you have been given an easy and workable solution for keeping contact off line. make you look kind of silly at best..
The facts are;
From the initial announcements in June last year Microsoft has announced each major OS version will have an 18 months support cycle.
This means that Windows Phone 7.8 will have active support until at least September 2014. A further major update will extend that with another 18 months from the time it is released. No where does it say that WP7 ends with 7.8, in fact there is evidence to suggest there will be at least one more major update coming.
Windows Phone 8 will receive active support until July 2014, this will extend with another 18 months every major update of which we know at least two will come. The 'Blue' update and Windows Phone 9 which has been announced will be available on all current WP8 hardware. That means that your current WP8 handset will see at least two major updates and have 18 months of support for each one. Taking the normal major OS update cycle of Windows Phone so far into account (around October yearly) your phone will get updates for at least three more years. Quite a bit better then most any other OS or handset.
Oh, and by the way, the WP 7.8 update resumed roll out last week, after it was halted for a while to fix a few issues found in the initial update, so you are wrong on that as well.. 
Finally, what SIM you have in your phone will not in any way make you get the update faster, it has absolutely nothing to do with that.
