Windows 8 won't connect to SG300 via console

I seem to have a very simple comm issue with my new SG300-28 switch . When I tried to connect to it via the console port using my Windows 8 PC it will not see the device even on the active com port and setting at 115200, 8, N, 1 and none (per the admin guide). I've done this a hundered times on routers and switches, but this model seems to require something a little different. Anyone else encounter something like this before??

Bernard,
Are you able to reach the web interface of the switch?
Are you using a blue Cisco console cable or the tan color serial 9 pin cable that came with the switch? The blue cable will not work.

  • Windows XP won't connect to Internet via Time Capsule AE

I've got a MacBook Pro and MacBook using Airport Extreme via Time Capsule. I recently partitioned MacBook Pro and added Windows XP via Boot Camp. The XP sees the Airport but cannot connect. I've added the same key to XP as used for Mac access, but it still doesn't connect.
Its a WPA2 Personal Key. XP allows WEP, WPA, and WPA-??? (there are three other letters there that are NOT "2" or "Personal"). It allows one of two "types" that are TKIP or AS? (Three letters that I can't remember.) I'm completely lost.
I also tried changing channels, but that's frustrating unless I just change from the PC end. I had been changing them on the Mac, then rebooting to XP to see what happens. (Nothing, so far.)
Has anyone successfully gotten XP on the Wireless?

XP wireless to a Time Capsule works fine. Problem is, as you've found, choosing the right wireless security, then entering the key in the right format.
Because of this problem in mixed OS X / XP networks, I've stuck with WEP. It's less secure, but it works!
I live in a rural area, so wireless security isn't really an issue.
Try reconfiguring your TC to use WEP. Once you've got it working, investigate the other security options.

  • Won't connect to ipad via Bluetooth

why won't my iPhone connect to my iPad via Bluetoot?

Well, I should have asked Pagancelt not sleeky as he said above he says he DID it.
    I quote:
Re: iPad won't connect to iMac via bluetooth

I was successful in connecting my iPad and 27" iMac via bluetooth for the purpose of internet sharing, so it can be done. I was able to use my iMac's free wifi connection (which the iPad couldn't pick up, as I don't want to stand by the window) to get internet on the iPad. I forget how, unfortunately, which is why I'm back in the forums - my connection went down!
*Edit: Foolish me. My iMac shows up under "Devices" on the iPad Bluetooth pane in General Settings. All I had to do was tap it to revive the connection (since I paired the devices the first time I set up the connection). iPad is now getting internet off iMac again :-)

  • Palm TX won't connect to computer via WiFi for Hotsync

I've tried the network Hotsync on all my computers, XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 (which started the whole attempt) and the device fails to connect to the computer, even when I put in the IP address.
My wireless network sees the Palm and I am able to access the Internet through it, but it won't connect to my computers. Any suggestions?

Here's my Wifi Hotsync help file:
    Wifi HotSync with a TX
    1. On your PC, locate the HotSync Manager (little HotSync icon in the lower right tool tray on a Winbox). Click on it and check off "Network", then click again and select Setup.
    2. Pick the Network tab up top in the window that opens, and find your HotSync name in the list. Make sure it's checked.
    3. Tap the TCP/IP button, and look at the IP address listed for "Primary PC Address". Write it down.
    4. Turn on Wifi on your Palm and connect to your router.
    5. On your Palm, select the HotSync program and tap the word "Network" above the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen. Below it, enter the IP address you wrote down in step 3. (Include the periods!).
    6. Tap the big HotSync icon above the IP address, and hold on!
    7. If you're holding on, and nothing happens try a wired HotSync, then try the Wifi HotSync again. Sometimes, information has to transfer from your PC after you check off the Network option. Also, be sure to watch for any Firewall activity asking you about "HotSync.exe is trying to access your hard drive" etc. You may need to set a rule to allow it.
On your TX, check these settings from the pull-down menu in Hotsync:
    Modem Sync: Network
    LanSync: :LANSync
Network Setup: (Wifi should be listed as one of the networks)

  • Won't Connect to Internet Via Browser

  • Won't Connect To Flickr Via Airport But Ethernet Is OK?

Ok, this is really strange, I've got a MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz 15" and as of yesterday I cannot connect to flickr.com via wireless. However, when I plug in my ethernet cable, everything is fine. I'm using a Netgear Router but I've not played with any settings on that for months. I'm really quite confused and can't think what it could be (I'm a Mac Noob so I could have done something I suppose).
    Can anyone enlighten me?
    Simon
UPDATE: I should also say that I cannot ping flickr throught airport access either, but ethernet is fine

And as another update, I've just installed BootCamp and there's no problem connecting to Flickr via wireless when i boot into that partition, so the issue has to be somewhere in OS X ?
What a strange problem? Please help....it's driving me mad!

  • Nokia N80 won't connect to internet via airport extreme

My Nokia N80 connects to the internet through a wireless network at work (not sure of the set up) but won't connect to my wireless network at home which is airport extreme with 128bit encryption. Any clues?
    Thanks in advance

    Probably a WEP key issue.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

  • [Windows Phone] Lumia 640 won't connect to Spotify via mobile data

    Microsoft Lumia 640
    T-Moblie
    Unlimited data
    Spotify Premium
For whatever reason, Spotify refuses to allow me to use it on a mobile network.  I see no settings to change this.  Under "Settings -> Offline & Sync" it identifies my connection type as "WiFi" and will not change to mobile data, just say "Spotify is offline" and "Spotify cannot be reached on this connection".
What am I missing here?  I have no problem streaming anything else (iHeartRadio, if it *ever* works, Xbox Music, Xbox Music Radio, TuneInRadio, MixRadio) except this app - which *should* also be covered by T-Mobile's music freedom.  What's going on here?  Getting annoying as I primarily use Spotify in the car.

    Microsoft Lumia 1020
    T-Moblie
    Unlimited data
Spotify Premium I have the same issue since I have updated my Lumia to the latest technical preview of Windows Phone 10. Before the update (first TP of WP10) everything was fine! And I am not able to use some apps for sending/receiving files (for example WhatsApp) via data connection. I have no idea what´s going wrong =(

  • Windows 7 won't connect to bluetooth keyboard

I've been using a Logitech MX5000 keyboard for awhile. I switch between windows and mac via bootcamp all the time. Recently though, I can't use the keyboard while in Windows 7. The keyboard pairs fine, but it is all greyed out. I've tried every suggestion that I can find:
~The keyboard is no longer paired with Mac OSX
~I've tried using Generic windows bluetooth drivers
    ~I've reinstalled bootcamp drivers.
Nothing seems to give me a permanent fix, and I can't even get it to work at the moment. Anyone know how to fix this?

Windows 7 is security-conscious to the point of paranoia. I assume this is the reason it won't sign on to the open services! I get a 'connected' message, followed by 'internet not available'. At no point am I offered a login, and there's nothing in the settings about it.
I bought this laptop so I can travel with it - I need it to recognise Fon and Openzone points wherever they're available, and log itself on. Just like my Blackberry does ...
This has to be a matter of overriding some settings (and perhaps adding a new one). Can someone advise, please?
    Hi. Welcome to the forums
My desktop Win 7 connects to FON (I pick the BTOpenzone connection), and when I then try a google, I get presented with a login page. If you aren't seeing the login page, then perhaps you can type in directly :-

  • My iMac won't connect to Youtube via wifi. Ethernet is ok.

For reasons I cannot discover, I cannot open Youtube.com via wifi on my iMac. It will open when ethernet is connected. This is the only site that seems to be affected. It stalls for a second or two, then I get a blank screen and the URL changes to www.youtube.com/?tab=w1. I read through every forum I can find, tinkered with the network settings, deleted cache files for the browsers, etc. Firefox, Safari and Chrome all do the same thing. It was working fine for awhile and I don't believe that we changed anything that caused this, so I am at a loss. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to solve it?

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.

  • IMac G5 won't connect to internet via Ethernet

So i have an iMac G5 that isn't connecting to the internet via ethernet.
I have already taken a look through all the Network Preferences, tried going through the network port configurations and setting all of that up again, created a new location for it.
I tried turning off the modem, and letting it restart - restarted the iMac - tried to set up all of these settings again.
I also created a test user account to see if it would work there - still nothing.
I hooked my own 17" MacBook Pro to it and it works perfectly. I never had to go through any settings on mine - it just worked as soon as i plugged the Ethernet cable in.
So the modem itself works - because my computer works. What else could be the problem?
I went through the Network Diagnostics on hers - all green dots and it says that the internet connection is working perfectly. It gives me an IP address - but it still won't load a webpage, and it tells me there that i am not connected to the internet. I am all out of ideas.
If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

    What OS you using? 10.5?
My memory of 10.5 is fading so you may need to figure out the vague instructions.
To make this easier to type Macbook Pro =  MBP
When testing disable wifi & use ethernet on both machines.
Are both set to use DHCP? Or are you using manual settings?
Compare the IP addresses of the MBP & the iMac when they both use ethernet.
Compare the subnet masks too just to be sure nothing is different.
Does the iMac do any local networking at all? (e.g. is iTunes or File sharing visible on it). see *
Does it see the MBP in the sharing sidebar or can it connect to anything on the local network?
Have you connected the MBP to the iMac using the exact same cable that the iMac connects to the router?
Does the MBP work if connected to the router using the iMacs ethernet cable?
    * You will need to enable file sharing to see the shared Mac in the sidebar (or have mother service shared). Enable it in System Preferences > Sharing whilst you test.
If you are have local networking in a functional state it could be…
DNS - what is the iMac DNS set to on each Mac?
Are either of them showing a grey DNS entry in System Preferences > Network? That means the router is supplying that info.

  • Windows Vista won't connect to Airport Express

    Hello,

My Mac connects to the network fine, so I know it works and is connected to the internet. Don't know a thing about WIndows, so any help is appreciated.
