Windows 98. Any solution?at all?

i have windows 98. I know iTunes can not work but i was wondering about this whole showing hidden files things or how i go about it. And if it will damage or ruin the ipod at all?

As you've discovered, you cannot use iTunes under Windows 98. For just synchronizing tracks with your iPod, you could get a third-party utility such as Anapod, Ephpod, or Xplay for handling the transfer. I haven't used any of these, so I can't make any recommendations. These applications cannot connect to the iTunes Music Store, so unless you upgrade, you won't be fully supported and will not be able to purchase tracks from the iTMS.
I strongly suggest you consider upgrading your version of Windows, though. Windows ME is no longer supported by Microsoft and it's going to get harder and harder to find applications that will work under 95/98/ME.

this may or may not help - but give it a try. On a forum some were reporting that talk21 is now under the yahoo umbrella. below are the steps this use listed. (This was an android forum, but the email settings should be the same. In short it looks like their server names have changed. An existing account may have simply been forwarded - but if you are reinstalling, it may want a clean install to the right servers.) Pay particular attention to the server names and port settings. (this thread was started based on a discussion of Imap vs pop - you are already an Imap person - so ignore that part)

why settle for pop3, when IMAP works with talk21 and not only does mail get pushed out faster with IMAP, but when you click refresh it will be received faster than pop3. The other advantage is subfolders are also supported with IMAP but cant be seen with POP3. This mail feature works with my android eclair & hero phone and the settings are exactly the same for win mobiles also (not tested). The mail setting up roadmap is the same from what i can remember once in the mail feature for win mobi.
This is what you need to do to setup Talk21 email with IMAP.
Incoming server settings
IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 143
Security type - none
Outgoing Server settings
SMTP server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 25
Security type - none Also important note - Enable 'require sign-in'
and enter your talk21 username and password The End...works a treat for me p.s. Its only taken me 3 years to work it out with win mobile and recently with android. Macbook pro w/ 24" cinema display does not work in bootcamp windows 7 - any solutions out there?

I am running bootcamp with windows 7 to be able to access some autodesk software. Once I'm in the windows environment I can no longer use my 24" cinema display. Is this a driver issue, video card, any ideas on how to make this function, I really need to display real estate.

I know this is an old post, but did you ever find a solution for this? I just installed Windows 7 through Boot Camp and bought an older 20" Cinema Display (M9177LL/A); the display works wonderfully on the Mac side, but I can't get it to register in Windows. This isn't the brightness issue that I see a lot of people have, I don't see a way to use the display at all.

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

MacKeeper Ads, Popup Windows problem - Any Solution?

Hi,
I have a problem with 'MacKeeper'.
It opens popup windows, shows link ads on any webpage I visit, distorts google search results etc.
This happens not only on Safari, but also on Chrome & Firefox.
I have tried to clear any spam-looking files from the /Library folder (there's nothing with the name mackeeper, zeobit etc.), also have cleared the cache of Safari, Chrome & Firefox.
I do not know how to find and remove this unwanted app, program or extension or whatever you may call it from my mac.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
Note: I have never installed MacKeeper, so I can not uninstall it.

You installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that this Internet criminal has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Adobe Acrobat problems in Windows 7, any solution?

After a HD-crasch I reinstalled everything. But when I try to install Adobe Acrobat 11 or 9 problems accure. When the program is almost installed suddenly all my Desk top icons, Start menu icons and Quick start icons changes into Adobe icons all of them! When I try to use one of the orginal program icon only Adobe program opens up. I can not access any other programs. When I delete Adobe Acrobat all my icons returns to normal. What to do to have a normal installation of Adobe Acrobat?

I have a problem with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac.
Last week, on attempting to open the application, I got a message informing me that the licence had stopped working (Error 6).
After the usual checks I contacted Adobe support and after a long-winded exchange it was decided that Adobe couldn't reactivate the license and I would have to uninstall the software and reinstall it.
There are two problems with this.
1. The uninstaller doesn't work either - I just get a message saying that I should type my password to allow setup to make changes. Typing my password and clicking OK simply brings up the same dialog box again. Searching through the various forums hasn't helped.
2. Even if I managed to uninstall it I can't reinstall it as it isn't supported anymore and I purchased it as a download not as a DVD.
Being in a bit if a hurry, as I have a client awaiting a couple of pictures, I decided that the easiest route would be to simply purchase Adobe PSE 11 for Mac. I duly downloaded a trial and, lo and behold, I have the same dialog box asking me to type my password so that setup can make changes - repeatedly!
To sum up.
My PSE 8 licence has stopped working and Adobe can't fix it.
I can't uninstall PSE 8 because the Uninstall software won't run and I can't download a fresh version because Adobe no longer support it.
I can't buy the latest version of the software because that won't run either.
Can anyone suggest a course of action which will fix this problem?

I’m a PC person, but I think those password prompts when trying to uninstall PSE8 and when trying to install PSE11 are the Mac’s security system making sure you’re authorized to do the installs and has nothing to do with Adobe which is why you’re not finding anything about it on the Adobe forums.
On Windows, at least, you’d need to be an administrator-level user to do installs. It is a way to keep both unauthorized people, and unauthorized programs like malware, from initiating installs without some user intervention.

I have installed windows 7 on my macbook but i didn't partition the disk with boot camp, now boot camp doesn't recognize my windows. Any solution because i need to have my MacBook drivers on the Windows 7 ?

Start again this time read and follow the Bootcamp help and installation manuals, http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/. Use Bootcamp Assistant to create a Bootcamp partition and download the Windows support software.

All data that was on your iPhone should be on your computer.
All photos that were transferred to your iPhone from your computer should remain on your computer and can be retransferred. Photos/videos captured by the iPhone can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera - especially before installing an iOS update. Re-transfer these photos from your computer as with any other photos available on your computer.
Contacts and notes are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer, and there are some free email accounts that support syncing contacts and notes over the air.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
You may be prompted to remove one or more files named exactly ".DS_Store" (without the quotes.) Press the Y key and then return to confirm. Press the N key and then return if you get any other response, or just close the Terminal window.
Try again to open the volume window.

I want to install windows 8 32bit on my mac pro (mid 2012). I upgraded the windows 7 I already had, but now I dont have drivers at all...
I searched drivers for the windows 8 32 bit but couldn't find any...
Any solutions guys?

There's been an update for OSX ML which addresses the issue for installing Windows 8 on bootcamp.
It's NOT recommended that you Upgrade.. However, the way to get the drivers is:
You'll need an external USB drive formatted as FAT for this.
1) In OSX, start the Bootcamp Assistant
2) Press Next
3) UNTICK 'Remove WIndows 7 or Later Version'
4) TICK Download the Latest Windows Support Software from Apple
5) Insert USB drive
6) Press CONTINUE
The drivers should download, and copy a WIndowsSupport folder onto the USB drive.
I did notice that Windows 8 still requires beta drivers for some aspects such as VGA (the Radio HD Card), which you can get on the AMD website.
Futhermore, why are you using Windows 8 "32" bit when you blatently have a powerful 64bit?

My tabs are seperated into groups. Once I accidentaly opened a site in a new window (not a new tab). After that, I accidentaly closed the Firefox window with all my grouped tabs. Now, I can't recover it. Are there any solutions?

I have my tabs seperated into several groups (for example, bank tabs, music tabs, social life tabs and so on). I do this with the help of the button in the top left corner. While I was surfing the internet, I accidentaly opened a site not in a new tab (as I usually do), but in a new window. The new window was without all the grouped tabs, which I had in the previous Firefox window. And then I accidentaly closed the Firefox window with all my grouped tabs. Now I can't recover it. Are there any solutions?

We have rolled out a fix for this issue.
Please log off and log back in to your machine and the issue should be resolved automatically. In case that does not work, please manually run the msi installer posted here (may require reboot).

Windows 7 64 bit laptop crashes everytime ipad is synced to itunes 10.6.1. Any solutions?

I have a new ipad 4 and I have a windows 7 64 bit laptop having itunes 10.6.1. When I try to synch music or photos, the laptop crashes abruptly.
I reinstalled itunes, but that didn't help either. Any solutions?

The above error says Presentation services not running.
Using this command you can check:
Open --> Run--> Cd OBIEE_Home\Instance/Intstace / bin> opmnctl status
Try to stop services and again restart the all services.
stop the all services = opmnctl stop all
Start the services = opmnctl start all
I guess you installation not done completely.

When on my secondary monitor, firefox will not perform any action that opens a new window (View page source, show all bookmarks, etc).

I'm using Mac OSX with Firefox 5, but also had this problem with Firefox 4.
I use an external monitor as my primary monitor and my laptop monitor as a secondary. When the window is on the secondary monitor, I can't open new windows to do things such as view source and manage bookmarks.
Any solutions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

Both Firefox and IE have the same problem. The cursor instead of being a finger when pointing to a link is still an arrow. However I can click anywhere on the page and an ad will pop up. I have eliminated all unwanted bars in Firefox, I ran Malwarebytes until it came out clean. I also have AVG which had detected a few items on it's own. But when I get into Firefox I still have exactly the same problem. Now it will not let me download Browser Safeguard. Usually after one click the pointer returns to normal for a few screens. When I try to click to download Browser Safeguard it keeps bringing up different ads or it tries to get me to upgrade Firefox or some other browser helper program which I know are all BS tactics to get me to load their junk again. PLease help I'm an engineer and pretty good with PCs but this one has me beat at least so far.
