Windows 98 Sound Blaster H

We recently had to re-fromat the hard dri've on an old computer running Windows 98. Our sound blaster software has been lost in our move and I am trying to download the latest drivers for Windows 98. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have a Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit for Windows 98 - Model SB040.Creative no longer has the drivers available based on what I can tell. I tried to search based on the model and this is the message I gotDriver unavailable:[img"]http://93.95.7.84/Servicesoft/Data/WW_TS/TemplateSets/ww_english/drivers_case/no_driver_audio.png" alt="Driver unavailable">Unfortunately there is no driver available for this operating system?Any suggestions other than throwing an old but perfectly good computer away becuase I can get the sound to work for my kids to play some very basic computer games. Thanks for any help you can lend!Kate

  • Wierd issue with Sound Blaster Z and Windows 8.1

I have just started having an issue with my sound card. For the past year it has been working perfectly fine with no issues. There have been no recent changes to the computer, but within the past week, if I am in the middle of a game or listening to music, the computer will once a day lock up, I then have to restart the computer. After it restarts, the right speakers, and only the right will not work, Center, Subwoofer, and Left side speakers work 5.0. I then go the Sound Blaster Z-series control panel and re-enable the surround sound. At this point the Center and Subwoofer cease to work, but the right side works perfectly fine. After a couple of resets the center and subwoofer still do not work. I then have to go to the back of the computer and change the cable for the center / subwoofer from left most to the second left most (as looking at the back of computer from the top side). It will work fine this way with all speakers working, for roughly a day then it will lock up again. I have to go through the same process, but move the cable from the second left most to the left most output for it to work again. I tried for the past two days to troubleshoot by removing all the software and creative drivers. Same issue after reinstalling with a fresh driver set. Any help, because this is completely annoying.

Considering that there is already a ca0132 driver for linux, which was made to support chromebook pixel laptop. It should not be hard for creative to make that driver compatible with discrete cards and motherboards that make use of that chip. But Creative seriously dropped the ball on users and does not care about them. I do not understand this, because all previous creative cards are supported in linux. Steam OS and steam boxes are around the corner and Creative is missing a big opportunity.

Hello, I have an old Sound Blaster Li've Model CT4620 that I installed on my old PC (windows 95) and loved quite a while back, I have since upgraded my Pc to a newer model that has Windows XP Pro and was hoping to install my old much loved Sound Blaster Li've card but when I went to install the drivers from my origanal discs windows put up a warning that this version of driver was not compatable with my system. I have looked around the site and am lost. Is there any hope for me and my older Sound blaster li've card? If so what do I need to do, download, install to run it's I am not very PC smart so please take it slow for me Thank you!

  • Windows don't see my Sound Blaster card after moving it to a different PCI sl

    Hi there,
    MY CARD IS THE:
    Sound Blaster XF-I Xtreme Music
    ==============================
    MY PROBLEM IS AS FOLLOWS
    ==============================
My sound blaster card was working properly during year, but... [color="#ff0000"]when I changed it to a different PCI slot inside my PC (the card was removed from one PCI slot to a different one)... then Windows Vista is unable to find the card, and is not listed in the device manager... so I cannot play sound, because the card is not recognized by Windows Vista
In Windows Vista, in the device manager, all devices seems to work fine. I dont find yellow triangles neither question marks. The problem is the Sound Blaster XF-I Extreme Music card dont appear in the sound, video and game controllers list.
If I try to run the Creative Console... says it don't detect my card.
All this happened when I moved it to a different PCI slot, before this, the sound card was working fine
Consequently, I don't have sound and cannot play music.
A friend told me that perhaps it could be a very good idea uninstall the drivers and installing them again... but also I DON'T KNOW HOW TO UNINSTALL THE DRIVERS, because when I was searching in the control panel, programs... I don't see any reference to "creative drivers" or "sound blaster drivers"
The only I see are three entries...
    Creative Sound Blaster properties...
The console (Creative Sound Blaster console)
And the initiator (Creative Console Initiator)
But I dont find any reference to the drivers... :smileysurprised:
[color="#ff0000"]===> Please, could you tell me how to solve the problem, to allow Windows Vista detect my sound card and again I can have audio?
[color="#ff0000"]===> Please, could you tell me how to uninstall the drivers?
Remember that Creative Recommend to uninstall the drivers the following:
To uninstall the driver, do the following:
Click Start -> All Programs -> Control Panel.<
    Double-click the Device Manager icon.<
[color="#ff0000"]Double-click the Sound, video and game controllers option.<
[color="#ff0000"]Right-click the Creative SB X-Fi option, and select Uninstall.
The Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box appears.<
Select the Delete the driver software for this device option.
Note: This check box must be selected to avoid reinstallation issues.<
    Click the OK button.<
    Restart your computer.<
But also remember that I don't have that entry in the device manager, because Windows is not recognizing the card... so the situation is I have the drivers loaded in my Windows Vista... but I don't have that entry in the device manager list... so consequently I don't know where are the drivers to uninstall them, and again, install them... so I cannot uninstall and doing a clean installation afterwards.
[color="#ff0000"]===> Please, could you tell me if the proper drivers for my card are the following (in Spanish)

Are you sure you have enabled viewing 'hidden files' in the explorer ?

If I try it again I will follow your advice when moving the catalogue to the default location. (but can you be more specific regarding what comprises the restored catalogue files (ie are they all inside one PSD folder, or are there other folders that sit alongside it?).
Suppose you have a backup folder named 'MyBackup'.
When you restore it to a 'custom' location, you state or create a destination folder on any drive. Let's call it 'My Restaur'. When the restore is complete, you get a new folder 'My Restaur' in which you find a subfolder named 'My Backup' = its the catalog ; along with other subfolders in the same structure as they were in the original folders.
    The catalog folder contains :
    (PSE6 test catalog)
To get rid of the unwanted folder heirarchy transferred from XP when restoring to a New Location but retaining Old File Structure would you suggest dragging and dropping the Folders in PS Folder View or some other process?.I gather I must do this from within PS to avoid having to reconnect all the files.
Yes, moving folder trees by dragging them in folder view to 'shortcut' unwanted subfolder stages is ok. I don't like it very much because I don't know what would happen if you had a power shortage during the process... But if you have still the backup, that would be good. For a big catalog, be patient, but there would be no need to reconnect.

  • Can't install Sound Blaster live 5.1 on Windows XP machine

    Hi,
I've been using?Sound Blaster Li've! Platinum 5. on my pc running Win ME for years. I've just formatted the PC and installed Windows XP Professional on it and now when I try to install Sound Blaster from the original installation CD, I get the error "Sound blaster li've 5. is incompatible with this version of windows". It still allows me to install but then I get all sorts of errors when playing back audio files etc.
I've now?re-installed XP but obviously can't use Sound Blaster and I would really like to!
I'm a musician and not?technically minded?at all so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Windows 7 - 64 Bit Driver Needed For Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Model SB0100

    I am having trouble finding a working driver for Windows 7 - 64 Bit for a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Audo Card Model# SB000
I downloaded driver file SBL_PC64DRVBETA_LB_2_03_0005.exe which I think is a 64 Bit Sound Blaster Li've! update, but Windows 7 does not allow it to be installed because it is not a digitally signed driver. It also seems Creative is no longer supporting these old cards with new driver updates.
I love the card though. I have bought more recent sound cards and the sound of this card is still much better than the more recent sound cards I have bought. So I would like to keep using it if possible.
    Are there any driver solutions?

I recently answered about the same question:
If you?use Vista or Windows7, then there is no official driver. You can only use alternati've drivers like Vista Support Pack by Daniel_K or the one from KXProject (better). But if you have more than 2 gigs of memory installed or an x64 OS, then both drivers will be half-working (as far as I remember, Daniel's driver won't work with more than 2 Gb of memory installed in any OS, and with KX-driver there will only be a problem with MIDI playback with more than 2 Gb AND x64 Win7).

  • Major Issues with Windows XP and Sound Blaster Audig

As mentioned in the post title, I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy 4 card (recently purchased) and am having issues with Windows XP apparently because of it. When the card is physically installed, but the drivers are not, there are no problems. However, when the drivers are installed, Windows XP's "explorer.exe" crashes on boot, locking up the start menu and any other open windows. Now, I can manually end the explorer.exe application and then reboot it, and things will work... however, I cannot imagine that that is the intended functionality of this card. Additionally, I suspect the card in the failure of a game (Eve Online) but I would assume the issues are related. I've already narrowed the issue down to the Sound Blaster drivers. I've tried booting with the SB drivers but without the video card drivers, and the problem recurred. Every time I boot with the SB drivers installed, it fails. Without them, things seem to run normally. If it helps, I'm using an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 processor, with GB of DDR800 RAM. I've installed Windows Service Pack 2 and all the other updates. The video card is a Geforce 7950 GT, with the latest NVidia Forceware (93.7) drivers. I've had this problem with both the Audigy drivers on the CD that came with the card and the newest ones downloaded from this website. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, which includes onboard sound hardware, but I have disabled it at the BIOS level. I can provide dxdiag information or anything like that if necessary. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, or have you encountered a similar problem?Message Edited by DerekKatz on 2-04-200603:2 AM

Thanks for the helpful reply Dan
I ran the file, CTZAPXX.exe, like suggested, and it ran without a problem. It installed the files and even required me to reboot my computer!!
However, after a computer restart, I am still in the same boat. Codecs are installed, but the location of the device is "unknown". In Device manager, there are no unknown devices; it shows the codecs in the sound tab, but no actual hardware; as if my sound card does not exist.
I use my computer for music, and my buddy needs me tomorrow night to play some music stored on my computer. I really do appreciate the help I am offered. I do not mean to sound impatient, but I really need this device fixed, or I will have to have him buy me a sound card....

  • Windows Vista - Sound Blaster 24 Bit Usb - No Microphone Playback Real Time Kara

    Hi,
I don't no if this problem was just discussed in another thread, if so please giveme simply the link...
I'm Italian, so sorry for my poor english or bad translation...
    PC: Laptop, "Toshiba Satellite A 200 24E"
OS: "Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack " - All update done.
Dev.: "External Sound Blaster 24 Bit Usb" - Driver downloaded from Creative Web Site
At the very beginning I tried the internal Sound Card (Realtek) to do karaoke in spare time, but couldn't hear anything coming from Microphone. So I tried to buy an external sound card. The result is the same.
On "Record Device" I can see the Microphone Device, the level is on top, when I speak in the microphone I can see the green bar light up, if I record my voice I can hear myself when I playback, but no sound in real time.
I read that a lot of people have similar problems, but everone solves in a different manner...
    I tried:
    - I read in other forums advices about to do something like unmute microphone on "Audio playback devices" >> "Speaker" >> "Levels", but I don't see any checkbox, I can see only Speaker Level Bar...
    - As read in other websites, to add a registry key (something like EnableInputMonitor in a specific path), but nothing changes. I cannot find other Device, not in Playback Devices, and not in Record Devices.
Please help, all was great with the same microphone, on old Packard Bell Laptop, old Sound Blaster mp3+ usb, and old Windows Xp.
If no solution, I 'm going on buy an old laptop with Windows xp, or an external Mixer, but I'm disappointed on spending more money...

    well ?

  • Windows 7 64bit and Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - No rear sound

As the title says I have a sound blaster x-fi titanium running on a windows 7 64bit box. I have downloaded all the latest drivers and tools from creative. The issue is no matter what I do I cannot get the 5. surround working. I have the front 3 speakers working and I can even get it to double the two front side speakers to the rear, but not true 5.. I have tried both DD li've and DTS. I have an Onkyo HT-R550 receiver that supports both DD and DTS and I'm connected over a digital optical cable. Trying to figure this one out!
I've gone through all the modes in the creative audio software and tried all the surround modes on the receiver.
    Please help

Ok. I have actually formatted my hard dri've to fix another windows and I'm back where I was. I'm testing using the speaker page in the console. I get great sound from all 3 front speakers and my sub. What I've found when clicking the back two I will get a very quiet but clear test voice through both rear speakers, no matter which side I picked. Also the bass portion of the test comes through the sub as normal. I can't seem to get the rear speakers to test any louder.
I did the surround sound speaker test and it all sounds good (without the PC involved). Also my PS3 plays great surround sound through it using the same optical cable.
I also tried your suggestion with no improvement.
    What's next?

  • Cracking and popping noise Sound Blaster x-Fi Platinum Running on Windows 7 32 Bit

Hi everyone, I am using a x-fi platinum card and it simply wont work with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit. I have been using both windows 7 public beta and release candidate for last 8 months. Let me give you my PC configuration.
    Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz
2GB DDR2 Memory running in Dual Channel Mode
ATI Radeon HD 4670 Video Card With 52MB DDR3
It has a built in sound on mother board (Disabled at the moment)
With the above configuration I tried using my x-fi platinum on both Windows XP and Windows Vista, and it worked perfectly without any problem. When I upgraded to windows 7 beta for the first time with the creative beta driver for windows 7, I noticed that whenever there is any on screen activity, such as minimizing and maximizing windows, switching windows, scrolling, photo or webpage transition, etc. there are cracking and popping noises. And if there are continuous or too much activity on the screen at some times the sound card completely fails and unable to provide any sound. When I took the sound card out and enabled the on board audio chip (Realtek HD Audio), the sound was fine without any cracking or popping issue. I eventually upgraded to Windows 7 RC and also currently using the latest driver for windows 7 and I am still having the same problem. As a reasult I am being forced to use the on board realtek audio solution which provides really crappy sound compared to x-fi platinum.
It appears that the problem exists only when I try to run x-fi platinum on windows 7. I really hope there is a solution for this otherwise I will have to sell my beloved sound card which I have been using for at least 3 years on ebay and stick with low quality Realtek HD sound system.

Not all of them, I have none of those problems with my Xtreme Music. This won't help the guy asking about the Xtreme Audio (search the Sound Blaster section for the one for your card), but using this,

  • Windows 8.1 & Sound Blaster Z First Boot Issue

I'm having a very strange issue with my Sound Blaster Z. I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue, a driver issue, a Windows 8.1 issue, or a motherboard issue.
When i boot the machine, the sound card does not get initialized. I get no sound and dolby digital live does not work. I have a Cambridge Soundworks DTT3500 system and i don't get a light at the bottom that indicates a dolby digital signal from the sound card. However, windows reports that both the sound blaster z and the audio controller are both working normally, no conflicts. There are no errors in the windows event log. If I go into the audio controller, i try to switch between no encoder and dolby digital live, and it's not fixing it.
My motherboard is an ASRock 990FX Extreme9 motherboard.
The strange part is my only remedy to get my sound card actually working is to restart windows without shutting down. This happens every single time. Has anyone else experienced or is experiencing this issue.
This is actually my second Sound Blaster Z card, i rma'd my first one. I upgraded from an Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCIE card.

To be honest, this is a pointless post. You're going to have to check your machine to see if there's an additional PCI slot that can take on the audigy SE. If so, then you already know your inspire t3030 can be used. Even the onboard sound with your motherboard should be able to take it on (assuming your emachines PC has onboard sound). I hate buying emachines, HP, and Compaq PCs they lack expandability.
