My Hp Mini will not start. There is no disc drive but the solution given was to insert windows installation disc.

I understand that you have a HP Mini and it will not boot. You get the error 0xc000000f and prompt to install windows disk. Here is a document I think will help.Error: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible (Windows 7, 8). If you have a recovery disk, you could possibly borrow and external CD/DVD drive and connect with USB, to overcome this issue.
If this does not resolve your issue would you please provide your operating system and the exact model of HP Mini you have. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

I think there might have been an update a bit before it started acting this way, but I don't remember, it usually automatically updates, so I never notice.

Windows boot error 0xc00000e9, 0xc0000098 in Lenovo U400

I've been getting boot error in my 8 month old Lenovo U400. No changes were done in hardware or software. It says bootbcd file is missing. Doesn't boot through hardware, but boots just well when I go to advanced boot menu and select the SSD option. The functioning of the laptop seems to be just as good, fast and there's no problem whatsoever after I boot through this. Then why doesn't it boot normally? Why does it say it could not find a valid OS entry??
I tried resettting the boot file. During the process I noticed that the partition with the OS is marked hidden and is a RAW partition, rather than NTFS. Since this error, I haven't been able to use Lenovo one key recovery either. I have never reinstalled/formatted a system with SSD, and am not quite sure if a clean reinstallation of Win OS would help.
What should I do?

The moment you selected your drive to boot from start pressing F8 button, it should show you some extra boot options, where should be a repair option. Go there, it might ask you login, then there will be option to fix startup problems.

Did you want to install Windows 7 on your Windows server 2008R2?
The error message: An unexpected I/O error has occurred. Status: (0Xc00000e9)
is a hardware error pertaining to your system’s BIOS. Basically it is telling you that the computer is not able to reliably communicate with the hard drive.
I suggest to update BIOS to the latest version, and try to rebuilt BCD follow these steps in this thread:

Dual Boot Windows Boot Error (Required Device Inaccessable)

I used to be dual booting Ubuntu & Windows 7. Have since replaced Ubuntu with Arch. Now I just installed GRUB2 and configured to to dual boot windows, but I found that Windows does not want to boot. I Googled and found http://www.petri.co.il/forums/showthread.php?t=42099, it looks like the same error codes and message. Problem is if I run Windows Startup Repair my GRUB will be gone and I need to restore it somehow? Is it possible to fix through Linux?

Windows Boot error

I've installed Windows with Bootcamp and everything went fine. BUT
The first time I went to start it it asked me to 'Press Any Key to Boot from Disk'...and no key is working. So then it askss me to 'Press any Key to restart' and still no keys do ANYTHING.
No idea if its Windows or OS X, but I'm guessing Windows.
Any ideas anyone?
All my files etc are on an external harddrive so all thats on the Internal hard drive is whatever came with leopard.

If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Repair flash drive. Download the relevant ISO from the links below.

If you need a utility to create a bootable Flash Drive for this Image, try the free application below.

When created, tap away at the esc key as soon as you start the notebook launch the Start-up Menu and then insert the Repair flash drive. Select Boot options ( f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the Flash drive option and hit enter.
Select the 'Repair your Computer' option and follow Option 2 in the guide on the link below to run Start-up Repair – you may need to run this 2 or 3 times.

[Solved]Syslinux "booting... boot error" when booting Windows 7

Hello, I've set up my computer to dual boot windows and arch. Windows is on a separate hard drive and I was able to configure syslinux with a boot menu allowing me to select Windows at startup. For a long time this has worked without any problems whatsoever, but this morning I tried selecting windows and I got what is probably the most vague error message I have ever seen.
"Booting...
Boot Error"
According to this post this problem comes in when the ldsyslinux.sys file cannot be found. Unfortunately I was not able to use his suggested fix
syslinux -U /dev/sdb1
I wasn't aware that there was a -U flag for syslinux and after checking it seems that there isn't one.

Sorry, I actually just fixed it on my own, it turns out my BIOS settings were a bit... weird. For some reason I didn't have my windows drive listed and it tried to boot a USB drive I had plugged into my computer. I just had to fix the drive order and it worked fine. Sorry about starting a fairly useless discussion.

BCD/boot error 0xc0000001 ~ stuck on broken windows partition

Okay so I have a macbook pro 2009 and I recently partitioned my hard drive to get windows 7 premium using bootcamp. While installing new software for my windows side it it froze up and I had to do a hardshut down. After I restarted my computer it came up with a black screen that says boot/bcd error - 0xc0000001
info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
It instructs me to
1. insert your windows installation disk and restart my computer
2. choose your language settings and then click "next"
3.click "repair your computer"
problems I've come across while attempting to fix this
1. when selecting what operating system to repair after starting up the windows installation disk there are no operating system that shows up.
2. "repair your computer" option does not work and cannot repair the problem.
3. cannot hold down option to go back to Mac side because of EFI lock which I don't know the password to it.
4. cannot get to safeboot for reasons unknown, but holding down f8 doesn't work and holding down FN with F8 also does not work. It just goes to the boot error screen.
5. System restore does't work either.
6. went into command prompt and typed sfc / scannow but it says that another scan is in progress but needs to reboot to start. Every time I restart the same message pops up.
All I really want to do is get back to my mac side so I can delete the partition at this point. But it is IMPOSSIBLE so if anybody knows any solutions please do share. thanks!

I agree with Tripredacus,we seem to miss the important part that we should boot from the UEFI mode for a GPT format disk.To boot from the UEFI mode:
1.Insert the installation DVD or USB flash drive, and boot the computer.
2.When the firmware starts to initialize, press the key that opens the UEFI firmware boot device menu, such as Esc, F2, F9, F12.
3.Select an EFI drive, examples: EFI DVD/CD Drive, EFI USB Drive, or EFI Network Drive. You may be immediately prompted to press a key to boot from the drive to continue.

I have noticed you have tried the "Startup Repair"option before but I would suggest you try this option again .Because we have chosen the UEFI mode this time and this option is usually useful and convenient to repair the boot loader.
If the issue persists ,try the following command line .I also noticed you have tried the similar command line before but I have made a little modifications according to the screenshots you have posted.

W520 long boot time 1 min 30 sec and low Windows Experience Index score 4.6

4-5 minute boot is sloooowww!! 90 seconds is even slow on a new laptop. My 4.5 year old Core2Duo at 2GHz with a 7200rpm HD boots Windows 7, including a bunch of programs at startup, in less than a minute. When I get a W520 I'm expecting it to take less than that.

W540 + Windows 8.1 unstable + boot errors

Hi,
I've a W540 and have upgraded my HD with a Samsung 850Pro 512GB hard drive.
The memory is also extended to have 32GB of memory.
That's the difference between the new ordered computer and my computer today.
I've installed Windows 8.1 Pro X64 and downloaded the SCCM driver package for this version of Windows.
I'm able to start the computer and work with it, but from time to time, the screen is shaking and not responsive anymore. A cold reboot is the only solution.
This happens sometimes even when I've nothing particually running...
Then, also from time to time but not related (I guess), Windows cannot boot. The dotted circle during the Windows boot is display, then a lot of green rectangles and Windows reboots. The machine reboots several times and eventually is displaying the Recovery environment. Just doing a restart here and I'm able to work with the machine.
Both problems are occuring from time to time: for example, I work for 4 days without any problems, and then one of the 2 (or sometimes both on the same day) is occuring.
I'm suspecting a problem with the dual video adapter (Intel + NVidia Quattro K2100M) for my first problem and a problem with the storage driver for the boot problem.
I've tried the following:
Using a different HD
Uninstalling the NVidia display adapter
Disabling the NVidia display adapter
Uninstalling the INTEL display adapter
Disabling the INTEL display adapter
Reinstallation of Windows 8.1 Pro
Upgraded BIOS to latest version
Upgraded SSD firmware to latest version

Arch & Windows 8 Dual Boot -- Windows Boot Loader loads grub-rescue

Arch works fine,but as it always happens Windows boot went down. Both OS are EFI.
Note that boot secure and fast boot were disabled for Windows 8.
I used os-prober, but did not fix anything; so, I removed it. I tried to hack things out using boot-repair from Ubuntu, but it requires a repository, grub-efi, from Ubuntu that Arch doesn't have.
I am trying to modify files in grub.d and grub.cfg and hopefully fix something.
Exact description:
- archgrub loads and shows 3 entries. Two for Arch that load the sys succesfully and one for Windows 8 that fails.
- When I try to execute Windows from grub, it brings me to a grub rescue>
and shows error /boot/grub/x86_64-efi/normal.mod not found
As far as I am concerned this .mod is from Linux, so I don't know why it is being called into Windows loading procedures.

New to this forum, joined today in anticipation of trying an install of AL...For whatever this may be worth:
I have an HP Pavillion desktop that came with Windows 8 (now 8.1), & has, of course, a UEFI boot system. I tried earlier to install Ubuntu Studio (which I currently run) on the same disk as Windows (/dev/sda), I made (I believe) a huge mistake in trying to install as LVM/ext4... wiped out my Windows install & made the UEFI unavailable... I had to do a complete re-install of Windows (fortunately, I did the recommended system backup, using 4 DVD's!) so then I tried a (non LVM) install on an external usb 3.0, with the Grub 2 on the external disk (great access time, & it worked fine... IMO)...
One other item: as I have been trying to find the right flavor of Linux for my main purposes, I have been trying various distros. & having to try to learn to negotiate the UEFI, secure/legacy procedures (still learning)... As I was unsure of installing rEFind... I did down load the .iso, burn it to a CD...

& in legacy mode, found that simply putting it (rEFind CD into the CD/DVD player, which in the UEFI it is labeled something like HP/UEFI CD/DVD), & then launching it, rEFind worked for some other distros...that is, I was able to boot into my Linux distros, even bypassing Grub), as well as having the option of booting Windows. It may seem trivial that I say this (it maybe is), but I have not seen anywhere (I have scoured the internet rather well) this mentioned as a possibility (though it, of course, would not make such a good permanent solution, especially for computers like mine that have only one CD/DVD player).

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
