Can i install os x mountain lion in another macbook air with my apple id?

It depends. If you purchase an OS upgrade it can be installed on up to 5 devices that are registered with your ID. However if you purchase a computer with that OS you cannot install it on other computers you own. The OS that comes with your computer is tied to the computer and not your ID.

  • Windows Server 2008 r2 install error gpt partition style

    Hi,
Since we are still discussing the same problem, so I merged them.
I want to confirm some information. Is your computer boot in BIOS mode or UEFI mode? Open computer management->Disk management->Properties->Volumes.
Is your current partition type GPT or MBR?
    For now,
starting with Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, all versions of Windows Server can use GPT partitioned disks for data. Booting is only supported for 64-bit editions
on Itanium-based systems. For windows 7, windows VISTA and window server 2008, Booting is only supported for 64-bit editions on UEFI-based systems.
So, the solution is either to change the boot mode or convert your disk. Remind, if you want to convert your disk, data on it should be cleared.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't install os mavericks because don't have macbook air flash storage firmware update 1.1; can't install firmware update because OS is too old (10.7.4)

Hello, I have a Macbook Air, bought May 2012 or so that came with OS 10.7.4 on it.  Did not try to upgrade OS until recently.  Tried to upgrade to OS Mavericks, however received error message 'Before installing OS X Mavericks this system requires MacBook Air Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.1."  I then downloaded and attempted to install said Firmware Update 1.1, but received another error message, to wit: "This update requires 10.7.5 or 10.8.5 or later"
Who can help me out the this Catch-22?  I thought about first updating to OS 10.8, but apparently that is no longer available?

    Hi CursedIn,
If the Firmware update required for Mavericks requires 10.7.5 to install, you may be able to download it directly from the following link:
OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo)

  • How can I install Microsoft Money 2001 on to my Macbook Air?

I have just got my MacBook Air and am very happy with it, but I'm currently trying to install Microsoft Money 2001 on here, and I have no clue how to do it... It is a CD which I have installed on my old computer, however, I insert the CD into the disk slot in the USB disk thing, and it comes up with the disk on my desktop, but I have no idea what to do from there. Please help, thank you.

Wow, I see some red flags:
Microsoft Money - Are you sure this runs on a Mac running an OS X operating system?
2001 - Are you sure you want to run twelve year old software?  Are you sure it can run on a current processor?
There are other products out there that may do what you need at least as well ...
Anyway, putting all that aside, and assuming you know that Microsoft Money 2001 will run on your Mac, here's the answer to your question:
Control-click on that "disk on my desktop".  Then click "Open".  Hopefully you will either see something labelled "Installer", or some arrow showing the Microsoft Money icon leading to an Applications Folder.  If you see the installer, double click it.  If you see the arrow, drag the icon as indicated.  A third possibility is you will see a ".dmg" file.  If so, double click it.
If you see none of the above, that would reconfirm this software is not designed for an Apple product!
Anyway, I would be very reluctant to try to install it because of the red flags.

    Hey,
On a second hand macbook air with formatted ssd disk + reinstalled Lion, I can't install ilife. It is already installed by another user (former owner of the macbook air ?).
How can this be solved ?

Just an agreement with Csound1 - you need to begin again anew (is that repetitious?).
CleanMyMac has obviously made the installation of Adobe products impossible. Which products, specifically, are you trying to install and which versions? You should ALWAYS use the provided Adobe Uninstallers to uninstall an Adobe product. Kind of pointless information at this time, I know, but just as a reminder for 'next time,' when you surely will no longer be using CleanMyMac.

  • I have my iPhone connected but can't seem to sync my music to the MacBook music library, what should I do?

How do I sync my music to my Mac? When I disconnect my iPhone, my music library is gone. I've already authorized the computer so I'm not sure what to do next.

Make sure you have the latest iTunes version.  Is all the music on the phone or mac?  If former there are programs like I iexplorer you can use to add to library.  iTunes syncs only from computer to device.

  • Install windows 7/8 on gpt-partition style???

can't install windows on my iMac mid 2010 with a 3tb seagate with gpt-partition style. Please Help! :S

All Macs use the GUID partition table. If you're trying to install Windows with EFI install, you should know that you can only do this with Windows 8 and Apple doesn't support this kind of installation, so it can fail and damage the Mac. The best way is to use Apple Boot Camp

Reinstalling Mavericks depends on several factors:
if you erased your recovery partition
what OS originally came on your Mac.
I'll assume you don't have a backup available that you made before your mishap,  because you didn't mention it.
That's really the take home message here: have a backup!
If you still have your recovery partition:
boot into the recovery partition (command R at restart)
use the recovery partition to reinstall Mavericks. see: OS X: About OS X Recovery
if you do not still have your recovery partition, then it depends on whether your Mac originally came with installer disks or not.
If it originally came with installer disks, you would boot from the installer disks, erase your HD, and then reinstall the OS that is on the installer disks, and then upgrade as necessary until you get to Mavericks.
If your mac did not originally come with installer disks, but you managed to erase your recovery partition, then you can try to boot into internet recovery (option-command-R at restart), and use internet recovery to erase your HD and reinstall the OS that originally came with your computer, and then upgrade to Mavericks if you need to. See: Hands on with Mountain Lion's OS X Recovery and Internet Recovery | Macworld
(the reference refers to ML but it applies just as well to Mavericks).

  • Cannot install clean Windows 7 64-bit to GPT partition

    ASUS Maximus VII Formula
    HGST 4TB Deskstar NAS, SATA 3 (6 Gb/s), 7200 RPM, 64 MB
Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1
    SW_DVD5_Win_Pro_7w_SP1_64BIT_English_-2_MLF_X17-59279.ISO
    Procedure
On a Windows 7 Pro 32-bit BIOS laptop, I used Disk Management snapin to initialize the virgin 4TB disc to GPT. In Properties, it said it was a GPT disc. I then created a  1.0 TB partition with Quick Format unchecked (equivalent to DISKPART > clean)
so it would check for bad sectors.
I placed the 4TB disc into the ASUS Maximus VII Formula computer.
I made sure the UEFI BIOS was set to only use UEFI mode.
I booted into the Window 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 dvd.
During boot, ASUS screen said it was in UEFI mode.
    Windows installer loaded properly.
On the Windows screen for selecting which partition to install the OS to, I selected the 1.0 TB partition. The following error occurred:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
Since the ASUS boot screen said I was in UEFI mode, why does it not let me install Windows to my 1 TB GPT partition?
I then deleted the 1.0 TB partition.
The partition was deleted leaving unallocated space.
I used NEW link to create a partition.
NEW did not work, it just left the unallocated space and did not create a partition.
Since the ASUS boot screen said I was in UEFI mode, why does it not create a GPT partition?
From the ASUS driver downloads page, I also tried loading the
"Intel_RAID_Win7-8-8-1_V13101058" 64-bit drivers during the installation process with no success.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
How about your problem now? Based on my knowledge, Windows 7 X64 system is support GPT disk, but Windows 7 X32 system not. According to your description, your disk should be already GPT, this problem probably caused by Windows installation disk problem or
    motherboard UEFI boot settings mistake.
Therefore, please check these two points for test. If problem persists, in my opinion, it would be better to contact ASUS suppoort for further assistance with this problem.

  • The selected disk is of the GPT partition style - MBP 2013

    Hi,
I get this error dialog in the windows 8.1 installer, when newly installing windows into a bootcamp created partition.
    Machine:
    * 2013 Macbook pro with retina display.
    * 16GB RAM
    * 1TB SSD
    Reproduction:
    * Use Bootcamp Assistant to create a USB stick with the Win8.1 Enterprise ISO, and the "Windows support files" (check the box in bootcamp assistant).
    * Bootcamp restarts the laptop into the Windows 8.1 installer
    * In the win 8.1 installer, On the Partitions screen I see 4 options
         * Partition 1 (EFI)
         * Partition 2 (OSX 600GB)
         * Partition 3 (small - likely the recovery partition)
         * Partition 4 (BOOTCAMP 120GB)
    * Selecting Partition 4, gives the warning message "Windows can't be installed in drive 0 partition 4 (show details)" and the detail gives the error message "The selected disk is of the GPT partition style". The next button is disabled.
Does anyone know how to get past this?
    Cheers!

hello, i was able to fix this on a intel I5 iMac as follows
    - use Disk Utility
    - click on the partition tab
    - select the partition that was created by bootcamp, in my case it was named untitled but I could tell by the size that is was the one created by bootcamp
    - delete this partition by clicking on the minus key
    - create a new partition by clicking on the plus key
    - give it a name and specify format as exFAT
    - restart the computer and hold down the option key until you see the startup options
    - select the device that contains your windows install iso image either USB or DVD drive
    - win install will ask you to select the partition to install to
    - select the partition you created with Disk Utility
    - installer will complain that the partition format needs to be NTFS
    - click on the Format button and the partition will be formatted as NTFS
    - continue with the install

Can a 128 ssd storage still effectively work if I install windows 8.1 plus msoffice and a window-based proposal system? I plan to buy a macbook air entry level with 1.7 gh i5 processor.

If you are going to use Mac OS X and its associated applications, and a BootCamp partition with Windows 8, and MS Office and all of the work created there, you will more than likely run out of space on a 128 GB SSD pretty quickly...especially if you put any music, photos or videos on it.  Those things take a lot of space so you will have to be very, very careful about what you want to put on a 128 GB storage space.  You would be better off going for 512 GB with what you plan on doing with it.

I've just installed iTunes on my Windows 8.1 (64-bit) laptop, but i can't open it. It keeps telling me that Apple application was not found. What should i do now?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.
