Windows can't open this file : ***.exe.

I am facing problem while launching any exe file on my machine and while launch any exe getting message as below.
Windows can't open this file : ****.exe.
for each exe file am getting the error like taskmgr.exe, cmd.exe,msconfig.exe.
System config:
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Patch1.
Please help me to resolve the issue; am unable to use the machine.

"Firefox 11.0.exe.part " Windows can't open this file.

I have been asked 3 times to update my Firefox over the past few days. Each time I tried it, Windows says it cannot open this file, or that it needs to know who created it. Then the next day I am told once again that I have to update Firefox. This is annoying to me.

The extension, ".part" indicates an incomplete download. Delete the file and re-download the update.

Hello all, I've taken my vi. I"ve created it as an executable. I've taken that...and made an Installer project... This is with LV 2011, and installing to Win7. The installer seems to work fine...but when I try to run the application from the start menu, I get a windows error, saying it doesn't know what to do with my file xyz.vi...that it needs to know what application to open it with....? Any ideas what to do here? The installer seems to install the NI runtime engine just fine...? Would this be due to, on the Installer builder...setting the vi to be read-only and hidden? When I'd done this a previous time, I believe it all worked then... Suggestions? Thank you, cayenne

Please disregard...I found the problem after going through the older working one....
Late nights and working two jobs...you start to overlook things.
FOr the dependency, I'd put the vi instead of the exe of the vi.....that did the trick.

Click on Photoshop, and you will see two files you must download: The first ends in 7z (the one you have) and the second ends in .exe
You run the .exe file and it will open the 7z file to create the installer.

Error while opening pdf in reader in windows 8:Can't open this file. There's a problem with file format

I have a problem with a pdf file which does not open with reader in windows 8 but it opens properly with adobe pdf reader. All other pdf can be opened in reader.But when i open a pdf(see this link for pdf for which i got error http://incometaxsoft.com/temp/Form.pdf)
it gives error as "Can't open this file. There's a problem with file format".
The same file opens properly in adobe pdf reader.You can check the pdf file which i have mentioned in the link above.But the reader which comes with windows 8 can open some other pdf in the same PC.What may be the error causing this??

This has turned out to be an enormous issue for me as I sell PDF files as ebooks. I have done a fair amount of investigating this for my system.
My files have to be compatible not just across readers but across operating systems.
To date, I have over 200 PDFs that have functioned flawlessly across Mac, PC (Windows 7 and below), Android, iPhone/iPad, Linux.
I personally test my PDFs using a variety of readers and PDF editors including
PDF XChange (my favorite)
Foxit (runner up for me and I recommend for most people)
Adobe (the bloated monster)
Nitro 9 (great for moving graphical elements around)
ABBYY
And the Nuance PDF Create toolsets
Those are off the top of my head. There are a bunch on Android that I test with too.
I am running the Windows 10 Pro Tech Preview and I have this same problem so I know it isn't fixed yet in any kind of pre-release way (-sigh-)
Here is what I've learned for my situation
The PDFs I created using NUANCE'S PDF CREATE PROFESSIONAL VERSION 8
all fail using the built-in Windows 8/10 PDF reader.
When I look at the PDF properties for these Nuance created files, the underlying engine used to write them is called "ImageToPDF". Using ABBYY it indicates their own engine as does everyone else that I've tried. It is easy for you to check to see
what created your PDF by doing a "Control D" (look at the document properties). Perhaps there's a common engine causing issues.
If I use the exact same source files to create a PDF using any of my other tools I have no issues. I checked the PDF versions made by the tools and they are all set to 1.5.
A customer mentioned being able to convert them in a way they worked by saving them without having to do any kind of extraction, but I have not been able to duplicate that. Perhaps he did a "print" which seems like it could work.
In summary, the workaround everyone is talking about, using an alternate reader, of course works. But not everyone wants to change.
The culprit I have found is my Nuance PDF Creation tools that are using the ImageToPDF engine.
I hope it gets FIXED as I really don't want to have to regenerate all of my PDF files.

You mentioned you tried some steps but I'm not sure what they are, you may try my suggestion to resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Click Start, right-click Computer, click
Properties, and then click Advanced system settings.
On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.
Locate and select the __COMPAT_LAYER variable, and then click Edit.
Set the value of the __COMPAT_LAYER variable to EnableThemes. Or, delete the __COMPAT_LAYER variable.
If the issue persists, we can troubleshoot this problem in Clean Boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with PowerPoint:

You will not be able to open this VI in LabVIEW 5.1 or 5.11 because it was last saved in LabVIEW version 7.0. It opens fine in version 7.0, 7.1, and 8.0.

Acrobat can't open this file

Documents i receive a message telling me I cant open this file because The document "HFB.pdf" coiuld not be opened. Acrobat can open fiiles in the "Adobe PDF document" format.
1. What causes this message?
2. Is there a workaround?
I have already set Acroat Pro as the the default program to to pen all these dicuments.

Chucker48 I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Adobe Acrobat forum. When posting I would also recommend including the following information:
What version of Acrobat?
Which Operating System and version you are using?
A link to HFB.pdf file if possible. Did you perhaps obtain the file from a website?

Error message - how can I open this file?

I'm getting this messsage when I try to open an Illustrator file: "Acrobat PDF file format is having difficulties. Non-hex character in a string."
Any ideas on how to get this file to open? I'm trying to open it in CS4 after working on it in CS3, but I haven't tried to open it again since saving in CS3 so it may have this error on both versions.

That would be my inclination. File may have been sent as ascii when it should have been sent as binary or vice versa.
In 99% of transfers it's ALWAYS safest to zip an AI or eps file before sending it anywhere.

Can you be more specific here? Are you referring to the container or a codec? I can interpret this to mean "muxed" MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 content, M2V elementary stream, HDV, AVCHD, etc. depending on how/where you may be sourcing the "MPEG" reference. If you do not understand what I am talking about, try simply opening the clip in the free VLC media player and see it it will play.

The file you mentioned can be downloaded but it can't be unzipped unless you have 7-zip installed on your machine. Windows zip modules only handles the standard zip files not .7z files.
The link I have given you requires you to be logged in to your Adobe Account for download to work.

Windows can't open .msi file-

I've tried for almost a week to upgrade to Safari for the Windows 3.0.4, but keep getting an error message saying that Windows doesn't recognize the .msi file that the update is using. I answered my own question. If you download the "Silverlight" upgrade to Windows (I guess it's a bridge between XP and Vista), then the download/install of the update of Saffari for Windows installs and runs. Interesting that Microsoft never let the rest of us know. But, then again, they usually soak a user for all he/she is worth by getting them to BUY stuff. Thank goodness this time it was a free download.

Can't open this file

I have a file with a .rtf extension. When I try to open it a box comes up and says it can't be opened. Can someone tell me why not?

It should have, but it's possible the file is not associated with a target application. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the file then from the Open With sub-menu look for TextEdt. If it's in the list then select it. It should open any .rtf or .rtfd file. Or simply open TextEdit, then use the Open file selector to select the file for edit.
If you normally use Pages, Word, or some other word processor you can do pretty much the same with any of them.
