Windows cannot connect to internet with airport

I have a macbook with Windows via Bootcamp. I have DSL. My mac OS can access internet fine (wirelessly and ethernet). I can access internet through Windows if I connect directly through the modem (ethernet). If I connect ethernet through airport, I cannot connect. Of course I cannot connect wirelessly either. I would like to connect wirelessly. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rich

Richard,
Some items to consider.
First, can Windows see the wireless router? You can go under network settings in Windows and see if it "sees" the wireless access point. Or, you can log into the router and see if it sees Windows as a connected device.
Do you have any security enabled on your router? If so, have you set up the security on Windows?
Are you using DHCP on your router? If so, does Windows have a valid IP address?
Also, have you made sure that the device driver for the Airport Card under Windows is current and working properly?

My laptop connects to my network, but does not have internet access--although the main computer  does have wireless iinternet access through the airport's wireless connection.

What happens if you power off the main computer completely and then restart the AirPort Extreme and laptop?
    Can the laptop connect now?

I am a new user of Ipod touch 5th gen 32 gig I cannot connect to internet with usb?

    Hi bikernblondie,
When you say that you're trying to connect to the internet with USB, do you mean that you're trying to connect your iPod to the internet so that you can surf the internet with a browser on your iPod, or that you're trying to connect your iPod to your computer so that you can sync it with iTunes and bring over songs, movies, apps, etc.?

  • Canny connect to internet with airport express

I was connected to internet with wireless network using airport xpress and D-link DSL-300T cable modemeverything was fine till i did base station fireware update. Now i can only connect wired with usb modem, (my airtunes still works). Airport status is green and states i am connected to internet via ethernet _though safria is unable to find server. Have tried loads of things but to no success. Tried network assist but network password invalid? though it is correct! Also done hard reset on xpress no joy.
Any mac guru s fancy a challenge!?
    Pls.

Likely your ISP uses the PPPoE protocol to connect to clients - and PPPoE doesn't work properly with firmware version 6.2 for the Airport Express.
Downgrade the firmware on your Airport Express back to version 6.1.1 with this software:

  • Cannot get MacBook to connect to internet with Airport Extreme

Starting this in a new thread so it doesn't get lost:
I'm having a similar issue as a previous poster. I got the AEBS set up and working on my PC (running XP)--light was green, able to connect to internet. However, when I tried to connect using my MacBook it would not connect. It was telling me "ethernet not connected" and "firewire not connected". Already updated my OS to Snow Leopard. I wanted to switch from my previous wifi connection (belkin--no security code) to the AEBS, but I wound up having to switch back after trying to figure this out for SEVERAL HOURS. All the connections were correct--basically just transferred over the belkin wires to the AEBS--cable modem into the AEBS WAN port and then the other connecting cable into the ethernet ports to connect the modem to the AEBS. Tried switching the cables also--neither worked in getting the wifi connected. Tried rebooting both the cable modem and the AEBS--did not fix the wifi connection issue. I am ready to return this thing if I cannot get this figured out without wasting another 6 hours. After trying to reset everything I then wound up getting an issue where I could not connect at all even though the green light was on and the cable modem's lights were all on and I got an error code: error-6753. Again tried rebooting everything, but still had the same error code. I have unplugged the blasted thing, reset my Belkin so I can at least get back on-line and connect with the MacBook as well. Any suggestions? Not familiar with techie language.
UPDATE--just looked on the MacBook again to see how the belkin is connected. It says "airport connected", "ethernet not connected", "firewire not connected": same as when I had the AEBS set up. Airport connected was indicated with the AEBS also. Able to connect with the belkin, but not the AEBS on the MacBook. HELP

    Thanks for the clarification.
You know that you need to reset the cable modem whenever you change the device that it is connected to, correct? Push the reset button, power off the modem, (and pull the battery if it's easily accessible). The power down can be a few minutes to 30-60 depending on your provider. It's always better to leave the modem powered down longer rather than shorter if you're not sure how fast the equipment at your ISP will reset back at their offices.
You're probably tired of resetting the AirPort Extreme, but I would recommend a factory default reset to clear everything out and start fresh.
Power off the AirPort Extreme (AEBS)
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in while you plug the power back into the AEBS
Keep holding the reset button until you see the amber light blink more quickly, hold another second or two when you see this, and then release.
Connect the ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN (circle icon) port on the AEBS. I also suggest that you temporarily connect another ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports until you have the device configured.
Open AirPort Utility and click Continue to follow the guided setup. On the 3rd or 4th window, you'll be asked how you want to configure the device. Choose the "Create a wireless network" option and continue to follow the setup until you Update the AEBS. You should have a green light in 20-30 seconds.
For now, keep the ethernet cable connected from the LAN port to your computer and open your browser to check and see if you can get an internet connection. If so, then disconnect the ethernet cable and click the AirPort icon at the top of the screen to see if you can locate the name of wireless network you created and log on.

  • Cannot connect to internet with iMac connected to airport via Ethernet

    Hi all,
Firstly please forgive if this problem has been posted before but unfortunately i haven't yet been able to find a solution to my problem.
I cannot seem to get my wireless network to work since updating my Airport to v5.7. I have reverted back to 5.6 but with no joy. OK, here's my setup - I have an iMac G5 1.8 which is connected to my airport via an ethernet cable (it is plugged into the correct port) and an iBook with an Airport card to connect wirelessly. The airprot is connected to my ADSL modem which is a D-Link 300T. When set up like this my iMac cannot connect to the internet even though my iBook can. When i take the4 iBook and Airport out of the equation my iMac connects fine to the internet via ethernet cable direct to my modem.
As i've said, as soon as i bring in the iBook and Airport the iMac cannot connect via airport extreme, even though the iBook can connect.
I have searched through the discussions looking for clues and answers. I have made sure that distrubute IP address is not checked and that internet sharing is off on my iMac but on on my iBook. I have tried all channels and all possible different settings on the airport admin utility but nothing works.
I hope i've given enough information to give a clear indication what is wrong, if not please ask and i will try my best to answer. Any help would be much appreciated so i can convince my girlfriend that buying my iBook was not "a waste of money!".
    Many thanks in advance,
    Carl.

    Same questions as Paul.
Open up the Network System Pref on the iMac G5.
If you pick Show: "Network Status", what do you see ? Be precise.
If you change Show: to "Built-in Ethernet", what do you see on the TCP/IP, PPPoE and Ethernet tabs ? Again, be precise.
On the Network Status, you should see a green mark next to Built-In Ethernet, which should be at the top. It should also give you an IP address and tell you you are connected to the Internet. Well it would if it was working, so "say what you see".

I cannot connect to the Internet on my desktop with firefox since last night at about 8 pm. Everything was fine until then. I know I am "connected" because I get updates on the weather and my family tree works. I just cannot get email or surf the web. Please help.

  • Cannot connect to internet with static IP

    Hello,
As the title says I cannot connect to the internet while using either the 'DHCP with manual address option.' or the 'Manually' option in my network preferences.
I know I have both the Subnet Mask and Router numbers right, and have tried a different range of '192.168.0.xxx' for my IP.
I realize that this question has been asked plenty of times before, but I still can't find a solution.
    Thank you in advance.

Sorry for the late reply, I was away from the computer all day,
    I hope this helps:

  • Cannot connect to internet as Airport "has a self assigned IP address"?

I suddenly cannot connet to wireless internet as the Airport has a "self assigned IP address" whatever that is. I have tried removing other wireless connectons but it makes no difference. I'm trying to use the wireless connection at the hotel I'm stying in..its working fine on this computer. Any suggestions ...PLEASE?
    Thanks

Hmmm... well, not what I was hoping to find b/c that is not really a helpful answer, l.b, but thanks for joining in on the discussion. I too just experienced the same problem. Yesterday I was connected just fine, a little slow, but connecting just the same. I was able to do my banking, browsing & what have ya. Today I get up and have no internet connection and my computer says it Airport has self-assigned an ip address and I cannot connect to the Internet. I haven't done anything different and as I can tell, they haven't done anything different either. My iMAC will not connect, but this piece of poop del mini will as will my iphone4 and all three of my kids' ipod touches. Soooo.... anyone else have a solution b/c I am totally at a loss here. I really need my iMac to connect. Got things to do that I can't do on here.

  • Blu Ray player cannot connect to Gateway with airport extreme

I have a Samsung bluray player which is plugged into an airport express. The blu ray cannot find the gateway and cannot connect to the internet. The same airport express is also used as airtunes and works just fine on the network. How do I find the correct gateway information to enter?

Temporarily, turn off the wireless on a laptop and connect the laptop to the AirPort Express using an Ethernet cable. Can the laptop get an Internet connection?
If yes, the BluRay player should auto configure itself the same way to connect.
If no, the Express is not delivering an Internet connection at the Ethernet port and more troubleshooting will be required before you can connect the BluRay player.

  • Pc cannot connect to internet via airport

    Hi
I have an older Airport Extreme base station (round pyramid style) that is fine with my Mac (MacBook Air, iMac, iPad-2, iPhone 4+) and other wifi devices.
However, we also have various PC laptops (needed for work) that can connect to the Airport base station (PC= green line from pc to base, red line crossed through to internet Windows graphic) but NOT to the web (?)
We have high speed DSL, and a modem plugged directly into the base station.
How can I set Airport up or the PC laptops, so that the PC laptops can have access to the web and everything stays the same for all of my other stuff?
    Very behind in my work...

    Hi,
I believe you have the problem that I was able to correct last weekend on my son's pc laptop by updating the atheros wireless adapter drivers.  Here are two simple options to test if you need to get an updated driver for the pc wireless adapter.  The first is to just connect the laptop to the Airport Extreme with a network cable.  If that is not an option, enable the guest network with no security on the Airport Extreme and connect the pc laptop to the guest network.  If either method works, the wireless security method is the problem and a new driver was the solution.

  • Mac Mini won't connect to internet with airport

    Hello All,
I have a three year old Mac Mini 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo at my office.  We all use macs and connect to the internet using a Time Capsule (Simultaneous Dual Band II).  Everyone else's computers are connecting to the internet and working just fine, but my computer constantly keeps failing to connect properly.  I have to continually reboot my computer to get access.  It will connect and stay connected for a little while, but then quit working all of a sudden again.  I would say it disconnects about 10-15 times during the day.  When I open up the diagnostic utility, it shows the following:
    Airport - Green Light
    Airport Settings - Green Light
    Network Settings - Green Light
    ISP - Failed
    Internet - Failed
    Server - Failed
Whenever I start having problems, everyone else's computers are connected and working just fine. I cannot figure out what the problem is and why my computer keeps showing that i'm connected, but won't let me access the internet.  This problem just started a few weeks ago, but it is getting worse because it is starting to happen more frequently.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Whenever I start having problems, everyone else's computers are connected and working just fine. I cannot figure out what the problem is and why my computer keeps showing that i'm connected, but won't let me access the internet.
With the information that you have provided in your post, it seems clear that the Time Capsule, which is providing the wireless network, is working just fine, providing a good wireless signal to the area. Since that's the case, there is really not any adjustment or change to the Time Capsule that we can recommend.
You might look for sources of wireless interference like cordless phones or other electronics that may be in close proximity to the Mac Mini, or obvious obstructions in the signal path, particularly any metal objects like a filing cabinet or shelving system.
Other than that, we would recommend that you post in the Mac Mini forum for some possible answers, or the forum for the operating system that you are running on the Mac Mini. Start here and select the area(s) that you need.
    https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa
It's always possible of course, that the wireless card in the Mac Mini is failing, or the internal antenna connector has an intermittment connection, but we'll leave that diagnosis to the experts in the forums for the Mac Mini or your operating system.
If we missed something that would point to the Time Capsule as the source of connection problems with the Mac Mini, please let us know.

  • Cannot connect to internet through AirPort in Costa Rica - HELP!

    Hello,
I have been traveling Costa Rica for the past few days, and have had no problem connecting to WIFI across the country, but, tonight, I am not able to connect. I clicked on my AirPort icon > Open Network Preferences. The Status reads "On", BUT under the status is a message that says:
"AirPort has the self-assigned IP address 169... and will not be able to connect to the internet."
Reading through the posts here, I have tried several fixes...
    - Renew DHCP Lease
    - Repair permissions
    ...And still no luck.
I have no access to the router itself, because I am staying at a bed and breakfast. Anyone have any other ideas?
I really appreciate your help in advance. I love this community!
    Sincerely,
    Nathan

    Hey,
This is obviously seems to be a DHCP problem, do you have any other wireless devices with you like an iPhone, iPad or just any wireless capable device ? If yes, try to connect through it and see if it will obtain a valid IP address successfully, if it didn't, then surely it's a router issue that it isn't able to distribute IP addresses, if you don't have a second device, can you see any ethernet connections in the wall ? another solution is to contact the IT person at your location and ask him if you should configure your network settings manually and if so, what would be the settings. Sometimes something as simple as restarting the router fixes similar issues

I'm currently in Uganda and have been given an orange dongle to connect to the internet. I put it in installed the software automatically, but then nothing else happens. When I try and open the application it bounces at the bottom not he screen for a couple of seconds but then disappears. Another person has put it in her laptop windows and it works fine no problems. I'd be really grateful for help with this, please?

You will have to contact the vendor of the service involved.  That is a third party device you are describing.
