Windows cannot connect to printer. 0x00...2

I work in a Domain environment where we have hundreds of printers on about a Dozen Print Servers. Some are 2003 and others are 2008. The Server I'm working with is 2003. The client work stations are Windows 7. We have several printers not mapping to the
designated clients. All installation of printers are controlled via scripts through GPO and based on what security group they belong in.
As far as I can see the computers are in the proper AD security group. But as students and staff log into the desktops, none of the printers show up. And when I try to manually connect the printer by going to the UNC path \\XXX-XX\printer_name it gives me
the "Windows cannot connect to printer"..... with a code of 0x00...2 (there are a bunch of zeros in there).
Now we have other printers that are mapped and are available to everyone. Its just those that are connected via a security group. So if a machine is in Room 123 and in the 123 group, they should get a color printer and a B&W printer for that room.
For some reason the color printer is not showing up, but the B&W is. Outside that group, other teachers can connect via their laptop, or other desktop. But All the computers that the students use, cannot map the printer.
I've tried the registry fix to clear drivers, I've renamed the "3" folder and that didn't work. I've tried applying Hotfixes but the ones I was given stated that they were designed for my version of windows. Even though the fix was for Windows
7.
I'm getting frustrated. Simple Printer 101 tricks aren't working. I think this is a level up higher and could be script or Domain related. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

If the printer driver uses color profiles, make sure the color profile files are installed on the machine.  Including the print driver name and where you got the driver might be useful.

  • Cannot connect to printer hosted on a Win2012 Server with a Windows 7-64bit client (Error 0x00004005)

I have a Windows 2012 Server set up offering print services to our network, there are about 20 printers set up all deployed via group policy. Recently, on one of our Windows 7 machines I am finding that I an unable to connect to one of the printers shared
on the print server while other clients seem to be able to connect to the same printer with no problem. Also, the printer used to work just fine from this same Windows 7 machine.
To test things further I logged onto the Win7 machine as the domain administrator, connected to the print server and double clicked on the printer to attempt to install it manually (rather than letting Group Policy do it). When I do so I receive the following
message, "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x00004005.
I have done some searching but the only references I am finding to this particular error message involved users attempting to connect to a printer hosted on a 32-bit version of Windows from a 64-bit client. However, in my case both the server and client
    are 64-bit.
Can any one help me troubleshoot this 0x00004005 error?
    Thank you.

Sorry for the delay. I just went and attempted to add the printer again on the client machine, the installation failed just as before, no log entries were recorded in the PrintService Admin log and the Operational log was disabled, I enabled it and added
the printer again. This time when the installation failed seven log entries appeared in the Operational log, all of them informational, no errors or warnings, the events are as follows...

    7. Event 301, Printer {71688D29-F70C-42F2-90E1-DA5D450E772D} was deleted, and users will no longer be able to print to this printer. No user action is required.
There are a couple log entries in the Admin log indicating an error occurred, those errors occurred yesterday afternoon at 4:30pm or so. I did not try to add the printer then so I don't know if these are related to this particular problem or not. This same
entry appeared twice at exactly the same time...
The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\PrintConfig.dll, error code 0xc1. See the event user data for context information.
As a temporary workaround I installed the drivers for that printer directly on the Windows 7 client machine and that works fine, however this is less than ideal because I had set up group policy to only install that printer for specific users, not for everyone.

  • 2008 R2 printer server, cannot connect to printer, access denied, Windows 7 OS only

Deployed new Windows 2008 R2 domain controller, added print and document controll. Added several network printers on R2 server. We currently have mostly Vista biz clients but half a dozen W7Pro clients also. The Vista clients connect to these new network
printers, no problem but none of the W7 clients will connect. I select the printer from the drop down directory list and select to load the drivers, the system starts loading drivers and then right before it finishes it stops with error message, "Windows cannot
connect to the printer. Access denied. Again, this happens only with the W7 clients on our domain, Vista works fine.

By default, the security settings for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 allow users who are not members of the local
Administrators group to install only trustworthy printer drivers, such as those provided with Windows or in digitally signed printer-driver packages. You may want to install printer-driver packages on the print server
or in the clients. More details can be found this page: Cannot

Got a local password/username on your Win7 ? Create the same on the 2003R2 as you seem in workgroup
    net user /add useraccountname mypassword
net localgroup users useraccountname /add  (I think it's users the name, you can validate to be sure) or
net localgroup administrators useraccountname /add in worst case.
nb, or add the user guess in the printer share security

  • Windows cannot connect to the printer the local print spooler service is not running please restart the spooler or restart the m

We have 7 computers on a local network 3 of them have local printers 2 and are brand new Vista equiped. we shared the local printers on the vista machines but they are unaccessable from one vista to the other... it works from an XP to a Vista, but not from a Vista to a Vista.... go figure.... When we try to add the printers, the error message that we get is: "windows cannot connect to the printer. the local print spooler service is not running. please restart the spooler or restart the machine."
    I would appreciate any help...
    Thank you

    This worked for me.  GP
Problem : error 1075 and Local print spooler service is not running.
problem description : I have a Lexmark x4270 all in one. I installed the driver for it in my new laptop running Vista. Turns out the driver is not for Vista but XP. I uninstalled the XP driver and downloaded a Vista driver from Lexmark. When I try to run the printer software I get a message "Local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine." I tried all of that. I have looked this problem up on the web and it is quite common with Vista. Many of the "solutions" say it is a problem with an incomplete removal of the incorrect printer driver and they show how to correct in the registry. I am not comfortable tinkering with the registry and thought I'd consult with you first.
I tried "everything" I could to fix the problem of getting "error 1075" fixed in my HP laptop running Vista.  HP came up with simple solution below.  The regedit part is what fixed mine.  I did not need the safe mode part.  I think Lexmark should add the solution to your knowledge base.
    ==============================
From HP:  Please perform the below given steps in safe mode to resolve the issue.
Reboot your notebook and press F8. The system will show some booting options select safe mode.
Note: Starting computer in safe mode may take some time.
Uninstall the printer using Programs and Features from the control panel of your notebook.
Uninstalling any software from Control Panel :
    1. Click on Vista (start) button
    2. Click on control panel
    3. Double click on Programs and Features
    4. Click on YOUR Lexmark Printer  and click on remove.
Download and reinstall the printer software using the below given link :
    http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:438:0:0&searchLang=en&os_group=Windows%20Vista&target=
NOTE:  Clicking the link may give an error indicating it is invalid.
Copy and paste the entire link in a new browser window.
After the installation of drivers, restart the notebook into normal mode. Now plese check with printing any document. If the still persists then perform the below given steps :
Click on Vista (Start) button, and type Regedit.exe in search bar
    Navigate to the following branch
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Spooler
In the right-pane, double-click the DependOnService value
Delete the existing data, and then type RPCSS
    Close Regedit.exe
    Restart the computer.
    This should resolve the issue.

  • DexterM - Printer connected wireless but Notebook cannot connect to printer?

    Hi all,
I will be a brief and clear as possible. I really hope someone can help! thanks in advance.
DexterM, if your still arond I think maybe you would be familiar with this type of thing. I will be as concise as possible.
I incorrectly removed some HP folders in an effort to remove the bloatware. (shop and participation program etc).
Anyway, I damaged my install because Solution Center disappeared! I needed it to scan multiple page PDF docs.
I tried to uninstall and re-install the Full Software package (my printer is B110a) 10s of times. Each time the Installer showed that 'Solution center' is already installed. It was not installed.
Eventually after days of trying to fix this, I took the drastic measure of remving some HP keys from the registry. Not randomly of course, but from a solution post on this board. I only removed about 4 HP keys. I was very careful not to remove any Windows ones. (I se Win7).
So.. Solution center then installed. Hooray! Everything seemed perfect. EXCEPT....
I had removed 2 keys related to the Network. Something like NET HPz12 and something similar.
Now when I tried to connect my printer wirelessly (using the USB to wireless process) it cold not find any wifi networks even though there were several in the vicinity.
I found a solution on this forum which involved right clicking on the network.msi file and choosing uninstall, then re-installing it. This did the trick! now when I ran the "USB to Wireless" process it instantly found my wireless "your PC is connected to SSID blah blah blah, is this correct". Yes. It continued the network diagnostic but always failed at this point.
I think because some service or reg key is missing the computer cannot commnicate directly with the printer, but it can see it at http://192.18.1.2 etc via browser. so all is connected properly, but something is preventing the laptop from commnicating with the printer.
    So to recap.
Laptop works perfectly with printer via USB.
Printer is connected to my wireless without isse. I can see it at http://192.168.1.2 etc
Laptop cannot connect to printer though, and fails everytime I run the 'usb to wireless' process.
I suspect one of the NET keys I deleted frmo the reg is to blame? Or some missing windows service?
The network diagnostic utility says "network software missing, please reinstall or fix and try again". I have uninstalled and reinstalled 10s of times now. It's not putting back no the required network service/key thats missing.
Argh. please can anyone help. Someone must have been here before? I have a screen shot too of the 'USB to wireless' process failing. It shows the connection is there, but something is not right.
image 0 - the 'usb to wireless process' picks up my wireless without any problem. ok
image 1 - during the 'running diagnostic on network' part of the process it fails
image 2 - not much to go on here. I reinstalled and uninstalled 4 or 5 times already. same thing.

Nobody? Im really stuck here... Been onto support 3 times and they cannot help. I need someone with expert skills who will understand which windows service or driver or key is preventing the notebook from talking to the printer even though both are on the same network successfully. No AV or FW on the network either.

  • AR9285 Windows cannot connect to Wi-Fi

In netbook  I got an error message: Windows cannot connect to OpenWRT (my router's SSID)
    wide card: ATheros AR9285
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64bit (Original iso, clean install, no Firewall and other software)
    Pre-installed OS :  Windows 7 SP1 32bit
    Mode: 802.11n
Encryption: WPA2-PSK (without encryption does not work)
this happens after the computer will work and heats up until that time, everything works.
    Tried various drivers:
    10.0.0.55
    10.0.0.274
    10.0.0.297
    10.0.0.298
in all versions after heating wi-fi refuses to connect, however the list of networks is displayed. What is the problem?
in windows xp (version drivers 10.0.255) on this netbook wi-fi working perfectly,  in ubuntu 12.04 (native driver) too, in MAC OS X (native kext) too, however in windows 7 32&64 bit wi-fi not working, hence there is no physical damage....
    Best regards!

Ok we need to know what laptop are you talking about before we can begin to diagnosis this problem? So what is your laptop P/N? So we can verify the wifi it has to begin to help.

I can see my printer and iPad on router but iPad cannot connect to printer. Printer is on list of air printer models accepted. Help!

You may have to visit the printer manufacturer's web site and look into their support pages to get a print driver for your Mac, and install it. Or see if you can see if a driver may already be in your Mac by checking settings, since there are many drivers already installed in Mac OS X.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Photosmart B209a setup cannot connect to printer wirelessly

I've had a Photosmart b209a printer for about 2 years and used it with no problem.  Couple of weeks ago upgraded to windows 8.1 and then neither of my two printers would print.  Long story short, I restored the computer back to windows 8 (which was factory installed) and can now print on my laser printer but not the Photosmart.  I have tried and retried installation and setup and always get the same problem:  The IP address is visible on the router's list of network devices, it is visible on the printer's front panel in wireless settings, and when installing the software with USB it can see the IP address when trying to setup wireless connection.  Then, the setup says it cannot connect to the printer.  It sees the printer, attempts to contact the IP address, returns the following:
"Your computer is unable to communicate with your printer at 192.168.1.114. This may be caused by firewall software. If you are using firewall software, verify that UDP port 427 is unblocked for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Your PC can not communicate with your printer at address 192.168.1.114. Check all cable connections. Check that the printer, PC and router are powered on and connected to the network."
Obviously, the PC and router are turned on and connected.  I even went to the security software and turned off the firewall AND created a new UDP port 427 and still no luck.  What has happened to my printer???

    Hey sue_M,
The first step that I would suggest, would be to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. I have included the document 'Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows'. This will walk you through the download, as well how to use the tool.
Now to confirm a couple of questions with you.
    1. What firewall do you use? (ie. Norton, Windows, MacAfee)
    2. Do you just have the one firewall, or multiple firewalls?
    3. For the UDP 427 port, have you made sure that this port is open in your router firewall?
    Looking forward to your answers.

  • ITunes/Airport Utility Windows cannot connect to Airport Express

I really hope someone can help me with this since I have spent 2 days trying to get my new Airport Express to stream music with no luck yet.
I have a wireless network using Netgear WGR614 with WPA security settings. The AE has V6.3 firmware update and I used the Airport Admin 4.2 to set it up. I tried all the recommendations here and connected the AE to the router LAN port using ethernet cable and did a factory default reset. I then configured it to join my existing wireless network providing the WPA details.
That is when the problem starts. After successfully updating and rebooting the AE shows solid green LED. However, using Airport Admin to connect fails intermittently with error -6753 asking me to check my network settings even though they are fine. If I try a few more times, it connects and I am able to enter and modify settings. When doing another update, it again fails with error -6753, but a few retries later, it does go through. Note that all this time, the ethernet cable is still connected to the AE even though it is setup to connect to my wireless network.
Now, I unplug and relocate my AE near my stereo - it starts up fine and shows solid green light. My router "attached devices" page indicates that the device is connected with the DHCP ip address of 192.168.0.3. However, when I now try to use Airport Admin, it ALWAYS gives me the connection error -6753. The AE shows up in iTunes, but when I connect to it, it just hangs and after a minute or so, just gives up and goes back to the "Computer" speaker.
I tried to do a ping on the ip address, and it gives me "Request timed out". I thought maybe it is my laptop interfering so I did ensure that I turned off ALL firewalls, but the problem still remains.
So in short, AE seems to be joined and connected to my existing wireless network (green light), but neither Airport Admin nor iTunes nor ping utility can even communicate with it; and it seems to be due to the error -6753. I have tried pretty much every advise regarding connecting via wired etc. and nothing seems to work. This is not a wireless interference issue too, because the error also appears when connected via cable.
    Any help really appreciated.
    Thanks.
    R

Thanks for the response. Here is an update:
I tried to connect to the AE from another windows laptop...and it worked. So it seems that it is only my laptop that cannot connect to the AE. The only difference is that I used my laptop to initially connect to the network created by the AE, and after that I could never get it to connect.
Interestingly, when I did manage to get into the AE and check its log, here is what I find...

The administrative access denied is pointing to my laptop, whereas the connection accepted was the other laptop from which everything works. So it seems that the AE is specifically not allowing my laptop to talk to it! Given that my AE is being connected in Client mode, there are no settings I can access to see why it has singled my laptop out.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Cannot connect to printer on network

I recently moved house and want to recconect my wireless printer (Epson WorkForce 845) to my new network. My iad and iphone see the printer on the new network and print fine, so i know it is not a printer issue. Howeve my imac cannot connect to the printer. In Printers & Scanners, I have tried removing and ading back the printer. The problem is that the default printer only offers ""last Priner used or "Epson WorkForce 845". Selecting either fails to print and gives a "Stopped - 'Filter' failed" message.

I am having the same problem on our home network. Have enabled printer sharing on the mac and the PC but the mac does not "see" the printer hooked up to the pc.

  • Windows cannot connect to internet with airport

I have a macbook with Windows via Bootcamp. I have DSL. My mac OS can access internet fine (wirelessly and ethernet). I can access internet through Windows if I connect directly through the modem (ethernet). If I connect ethernet through airport, I cannot connect. Of course I cannot connect wirelessly either. I would like to connect wirelessly. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Richard,
    Some items to consider.
First, can Windows see the wireless router? You can go under network settings in Windows and see if it "sees" the wireless access point. Or, you can log into the router and see if it sees Windows as a connected device.
Do you have any security enabled on your router? If so, have you set up the security on Windows?
Are you using DHCP on your router? If so, does Windows have a valid IP address?
Also, have you made sure that the device driver for the Airport Card under Windows is current and working properly?

i cannot connect using bluetooth from ipad or iphone

    Hi,
Apple's iOS does not support printing over bluetooth, it only allow printing through a wireless network connection. (802.11), as well the Officejet Mobile 150 is not an AirPrint printer:
NOTE:Apple iPads and iPhones do not currently support Bluetooth printing. To print from your Apple mobile device, you can use HP's wireless printing accessory (sold separately). Go to Installing the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory to learn more. For additional information, go to HP Printer Does Not Support HP's Mobile Printing Solutions .

  • Cannot connect HP printer

    Hi
I apologize for starting a new thread, however I cannot figure out how to connect my printer to the e4200 I just got.  All of the vidoes or walk throughs seem to use an icon in the menu that my printer does not have.
    Can anyone help me?
It is a HP photosmart plus
    Thanks

    Its a wireless printer,right?
For this you need to connect to your main wireless network and input the correct key. Or if possible you can manually input the wireless settings of your router.
