Windows cant read iTunes

I rencetly got the iPod Nano 3rd Generation. in attempting to sync it with my current iTunes it requied Version 7.4. So i downloaded no problem. But, then i had a conection error the itunes store. This had accured one other time, and that time i did a system restore and it work again so i had assumed that worked so i did it again. but now i get a message stating "The file "iTunes.Libray.tl" can not be read becasue it was created by a newer version of iTunes." So i cant not access my iTunes but when i had prevously it would not reconized the Nano 3rd Generation even with the version 7.4. Help porfavor?

Are you getting an error message when you try to download iTunes, molly? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

Unless you deliberately downgraded iTunes at the same time this may be a sign of a corrupt library. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

Can you check something for me please?
In Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive your Program files are installed on).
If you have a 32-bit Windows Vista, open the "Program Files" folder.
If you have a 64-bit Windows Vista, open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
Open the "iTunes" folder.
Doubleclick directly on the iTunes.exe file. Do you still get the same message?

I have uninstall the itunes from my pc. Today i install back the itunes and i get message " cant read itunes library.it ". What should i do?

after 5 long hard straight hours of trying to figure out your problem (also mine) i finaly found the solution!
what i did was i searched my computer for "Ipod Updater" in the search task in the start menu. Then after i opened it up..it FINALY let me set it to the factory setting. Doing this let me set my iPod back up the way it was before and finaly having iTunes see my iPod.

You should first uninstall iTunes completely.
This is not an easy task!

I am getting the same message when I try to install the latest version of iTunes, I am running on Windows Vista Home Premium. I have tried so many different things to try to correct this and have now completly unistalled it from my laptop..... Now I have no iTunes what-so-ever on it and still can't install it. I found an older versin of iTunes and it installed without any problems, but I can't access it because my library was created on a newer version! Talk about frustrated..... WE NEED HELP!!!!!

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:

I downloaded the latest version from the offcial site, and everytime i try to install it it stops half way due to Windows Installer Package error. It says I'm missing a program required to continue this installation.
I've tried removing all the files with removal tools, running it with admin rights, disabling firewalls, User account controls, updated my Windows update to the latest version. Read all the threads and tried everything but it still doesn't work.
Does any1 have any suggestions?

Download and save a full itunes setup file.
Use Winrar to unzip the file into a folder. Then right mouse click the file AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi from that folder to install.
If you don't have winrar, you can go to this link to download a free trial version.

I'm no expert, but I had the same problem and spent many many hours on my own and almost 4 hours on the phone with Apple last week. My itunes would not update - I found online to uninstall it - big mistake. Then I couldn't reinstall it for the sam reason it wouldn't update. There are at lest six programs associated with itunes. Apple had me uninstall all of them and then reinstall all of them - it was awful. I discovered very early though that the one program in CONTROL PANEL was the Apple Software Updater. Make sure that has updated the latest of whatever it tells you. The Apple tech and I think that had I done that first, then maybe itunes would have updated. You can also check to make sure all the Apple associated programs such as Quick Time are updated before installing. These are easy fixes. I also ran Check Disk to help make sure there weren't other problems. After the Apple tech had me reinstall everything, I still had a problem with itunes closing down but upon more research in this community, I realized he did not have my install Quick Time after I re-installed Itunes. I finally got everthing in sync and was shocked to not find my music on my isutff. Then I found out it only downloads new purchases but you can to to your iphone/ipod/ipad and have it re-download those purchases. Anything you put in your library from a CD or other source will not be available on your istuff until MATCH is activated. Good luck - I feel for you - been there. P.S. Apple support was great with me!!!!
