Windows-Client with readonly disk

Hello,
some of our Windows-Clients do not allow writing to local disk (e.g.
download of TTAWinPrint.exe) or executing regedit. I already removed the
print- and CDM-applet from our webtop as suggested in another article and
those downloads and regedit-calls are now gone.
But there is still one download, it is "TTAwinClientInfo.exe"
What is this for and how can I prevent Tarantella from downloading it?
We are using Enterprise 3.4 on SuSE 9.0 and WinClients with IE.

Barbara,
TTAWinClientInfo : provides information that we can't get via the java
interface as well as an interface to the windows RDP license system.
You can not remove it from being downloaded.
Regards,Nevertheless Tarantella seems to work fine even without that information:
On startup there are some error popups of the kind "download not allowed",
but after clicking them away the application (X11-Session on
Linux-Appserver) starts as normal.
So my main problem is, that the users complain about those messages, they
don't want to have to quit several popups before they can start to work ...

  • I am unable to Install windows xp with recovery disks.

I have a Toshiba’s Satellite Pro S300-10J laptop Model#PSSB0E-02H00FDU. Some days back its operating system got corrupted. I have its recovery disks(windows Xp)  and now I am trying to reinstall the windows by using recovery disks but unable to do so. Actually when I insert disk 1 it start installation process and then prompt for 2nd disk and when I insert 2nd disk it starts unpacking software image process. At the end it shows a pop up box with the following information.
    Info:
                    Done(Files:28339/28339 Folders: 2558/2558).
                    Please remove the recovery medium!
                                                    |OK|
As I remove the 2nd disk and press ok and then exit it goes shut down instead of rebooting. When I press power button to on it then it goes stuck on windows startup with a message of please wait .
Please support that how can I get rid of this situation and can restore operating system with recovery disk.

I made another attempt but nothing goes productive.
One thing is clear that the recovery disks are ok because a few months back I used same disks to refresh my notebook and did it without any error.
There might be a chance of bios setting because in my absence my sister and her friend tried to install windows and I doubt her friend made some changes in bios but she says that she didn’t made any change except boot priority and during installation got the error.
I have already rest the bios setting to default and in SATA CONTROLLER MODE I changed it from AHCI into IDE.
With recovery disks of XP Installation starts and after image loading it doesn’t restart just goes shut down and upon restarting just stop responding/hang up on startup.
I tried with another CD of XP and during installation when system restarts setup continues on ‘INSTALLING WINDOWS’ with the message that ‘Setup will complete in approximately 35 minutes ‘Installing devices’ and at this stage it hanged up. Finally it shows blue screen with an error like
    Technical Information

    Beginning dump of physical memory.
On several attempts the result remains same.

  • Installing windows programs with a disk

I have to use a program/software that is Windows only for a course I am taking.
I want to set up Windows on my macbook pro (1 yr old)...
    My question is:
Once I have windows installed, and running... if I put in this Windows program (disk), will it work like it would on a PC?
    Thanks,
    Clueless

Once you have Windows installed and running, you will have a PC, so yes, it will work like a PC.
For clarification, you will need to have your Windows running when you put in your disc. I have seen some people who thought that they only needed to install Boot Camp to have windows compatibility with their Mac, and they didn't understand why their Mac wouldn't load the CD they just put in the drive. They had loaded Boot Camp so to was supposed to support Windows now (in their mind).

  • Problem synchronizing windows clients with solaris 10 NTP server

    Hello everyone,
I realyy need help on the following:
I tried to synchronize windows 2003 as client with NTP server running in Solaris 10
My Time Zone in the NTP server is GMT+3, and in my windows is also set to GMT+3
When I start NTP server and clients , I got 6 hours delay between the clients and the server
I tried to synchronize the Solaris server with another solaris system, the synchronization is working fine
    Your help
    Regards
    Hakim Fourar

True (but only for later releases). But since he mentioned getting a 6 hour offset after starting them, that makes me think that the systems are communicating, and that the time zones are incorrect.
This is easily verified by using 'ntpq -p' and 'date ; date -u'. The first will show if the client thinks it is synchronized to a server (and what the UTC offset is in miliseconds). The second will show the date in the default timezone and in UTC.
If you're not using POSIX, you'd think that GMT+XX meant east of UTC, but for POSIX, it means west of UTC.

  • How to install ASM on MS Windows XP with regular disk partitions

    Hi,
I just want to try out the feature ASM on my pc.
OS => MS Windows XP sp2, two disk partitions.
First I have installed the 10.2 software and then created a database.
After this, I use DBCA to create the ASM.
I have to run localconfig. But I still cannot see my disks (partitions C and D) on the Configure Automatic Storage Management page.
    What I have done wrong?

  • Upgrading T430 preloaded with Windows 7 Pro to Windows 8 With Recovery Disks

I just got 19 T430 laptops that we thought would have Windows 8 on them but them came with a preload of Windows 7 Pro and recovery disks for Windows 8. The recovery disks have instructions for using them to upgrade to 8, but the laptop won't boot to the cd/dvd drive. I'm not sure if there is a problem with the instructions or if the disks aren't bootable. I can see them and their contents through Windows Explorer, so I know the drive works.

If it is like the other sets I have seen, there will be 2 "applications and drivers" disk and one operating system disk. You boot from the first "applications and drivers" disk. It will boot, and then call for the other disks when needed. If I remember right, the order is App 1, OS, App1, App2.  I suggest backing up your win7 image before installing win8.  I used windows 8 just long enough to figure out that I hate it.

  • Recovering Windows 7 with recovery disks (4)

I had a crash and re-installed Windows Vista HP, but have an upgrade that once contained a Windows 7 Pro upgrade but the packet but is empty.  But I do have (4) recovery disks marked Win7Pro and attempted to use these disks to recover Win7 but stopped to loading process because the program indicated that all files would be lost.  Can someone help me install these disks and recover Win7?  Again, this laptop arrived with an empty packet that once contained Win7Pro; I have a product key number.
This Toshiba P500 laptop arrived with the Windows 7 upgrade offer. The upgrade was ordered but the disk was never received.
    Thank you for your help.
    James

I'm a little confused. It sounds like you have a few things happening here.
Just to be clear, you'll always want to restore the laptop to factory default conditions using a recovery partition or recovery media and then upgrade to your desired operating system version. Don't install directly to a different OS. Also, doing the recovery procedure will erase all your personal data.
If you ordered something from Toshiba and didn't receive it or received the wrong product, you should definitely call the place of order and let them know!

  • Restore Oracle with brtools to a Windows server with different disk structure

    Hello gurus,
Is it possible to restore Oracle to a Windows machine that has different disk structure than a source machine?
E.g. source machine had disks C:, D:, E: (on which Oracle data files were distributed), but a target machine has only disk C:
    Database is backuped with brtools.

    Hi
I did some mass changes using a script... to be honest I'm not sure if I did it to restore FROM a different location, or TO a different location.
You could also use Brrestore option -m|-mode to restore the datafiles to a new location.
Check online help   -m|-mode - SAP Database Guide: Oracle (BC-DB-ORA-DBA) - SAP Library
For instance the here under command will restore datafiles #10 to #20 to the /tmp directory
    brrestore -u / -b beokfyeu.pnd -c -m 10-20=/tmp
You could find datafile ID by querying view dba_data_files
    select FILE_ID, FILE_NAME, TABLESPACE_NAME from DBA_DATA_FILES;

  • Durable subscriptions and windows clients

    Hi,
I think I have found a potential problem.
    Scenario
    MQ: 3.x or 4.x
Clients: windows OS with Durable Subscriptions
    Destinations: Topic
    Problem:
Disconnect a windows client with a durable subscription (for example, pulling the network cable)
Try to reconnect, and you will get "Client ID already in use". Under unix, this happens only for a few secs and that's fine. Under Windows, you won't be able to reconnect for almost 10 minutes. That means that a windows client can't easily reconnect if it uses a durable subscription, and has to wait the server killing its socket.
The problem seems that the server socket stays ESTABLISHED (just do a netstat -an | grep -i ESTABLISHED on the server) for a longer time when the client is windows. So that is a windows socket problem (I just tried with a Simpel TCP Server and that's the same), but I think a JMS server should circumvent it
    Possible solutions:
    - MQ client overriding the connection if a client id is already in use AND the connection comes from the same IP. I think that should be the default!
    - a configurable heartbeat between client and server
    - Something like "imqcmd deactivate dur" could do the job. I haven't found a way to manually DISACTIVATE the connect, but only to destroy it (imqcmd destroy dur), which obviously isn't a viable option (possible msg loss)
    - Java API to do the same thing
    ciao,
    uL

I think that the problem may be with the TTL on the sockets. Basically as far as I know unless there is a traffic on the connection there is no way to detect that the other end of a socket connection is gone. You may try enabling ping on the connection this may speed things up.

  • Log In Automatically on horizon client with windows account

Is it possible to login on horizon client with the windows credentials???
    for instance:
I would like to double click on Desktop icon and it automatically login on horizon client and after desktop.
    Ive already try this command:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Horizon View Client\vmware-view.exe" vmware-view://[email protected]/cn=appxpto,ou=applications,dc=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int -password MyPassword
    But;
First: It didnt work, it still ask me the password
Second: I dont want to write down my user, neither my password.

Well I made a fatal error!!!
I tried reinstalling OSX and archiving the users/settings...The installer couldn't finish.
Now the Mac won't startup and won't work in Target disk mode!
    This is my Powerbook G4.
Hard drive test shows no errors. Can't check permissions though.
My only hope will be to go and buy disk warrior tomorrow and see if I can save something from the drive B4 a complete reinstall.

If I am reading your issue correctly. Windows 8 came pre-installed on a computer with a hard disk setup as a GPT with UEFI configured.
If this is the case then the outcome you are experiencing is correct.
Windows 7 does not inherently have the ability to install into a GPT disk from the base installation.
The Windows 7 DVD is designed to install using BIOS mode.
Also note that Windows 7 x86 does not support UEFI mode.
These two articles below may help you.

  • View change in the middle of sessions to Windows 7 clients with OneDrive

Some Windows 7 clients habe reported that the view changes in the middle of sessions to Windows 7 clients with OneDrive.
For example they have been able to see image pictures as normal in the beginning of sessions and then suddenly only image names !

    Hi  yourDragonXi,
Is it a desktop One drive or a web browser Onedrive content? According to your description, the should be a Sync process when you open the images, besides a screenshot will be helpful to find the explanation.

  • Using iChat Server with Windows clients in an integrated Active Directory/Open Directory environment

A co-worker (Super Brent) and I were working on using iChat as an internal IM server after having used Openfire for a couple days. The reason for switching was basically that we had a Mac Mini Server that was available so we decided to take this on.
First problem: Knowing whether or not Kerberos was needed for AD/OD integration. We spent a ton of time on this, not knowing a huge amount about AD and with our server administrator on courses, we just kept poking at it and removed Kerberos.
For the AD/OD integration, we first bound the Mac Mini to our Active Directory server. We shut off LDAPv3 support as we only wanted to use the AD functionality. Additionally, we ensured that the search policy in Directory Utility only used Active Directory. Then we created an Open Directory master in the Open Directory service. We enabled a self-signed certificate and trusted it locally. After creating the iChat service, ensure that you use the self-signed SSL Certificate and set authentication to Standard. (no kerberos).
Second problem: Once this was complete, we started to test clients out. We were unable to successfully login using our AD credentials using Spark IM and Pandium IM. After trying nearly 100 different variations of server configs, we decided to try a new client. I installed Miranda IM on my Windows XP machine and tried a few different setups. It turned out that the magic potion was to make sure that the "resource" field was set to "Home" and use SSL for encryption. This resource setting was the deal breaker for the other IM clients as many of them such as Spark and Pandium do not have this as a login option.
We ended up using Pidgin IM as the Windows client of choice as it did have the resource variable and it's interface was the best suited for our environment and users.
I hope this helps someone out there as we spent days looking all over the internet trying to figure this out.
    Cheers,
    Frenchy and Super Brent

  • Can't open secured documents on windows 7 domain client with mandatory profiles.

While opening certain PDF files we have the problem that the user is presented with a message that he does not have the rights permissions. This happens twice, after that the users gets an empty page with the message the Adobe version might not be up to date. We use Acrobat Pro 10, but this also happens while using Reader 11.0.8. On our windows 2008 terminal services machine this could be fixed by giving the user rights on c:\ to create and remove a file. :O. On windows 7 this doesn't work probably because of UAC. But we've tried every solution to that available on the internet, disabling uac, changing uac options, changing rights on userprofile folders, changing rights on c:\ but to no avail. When using process explorer we can see it wants to create a temp file p328hkl.tmp or something like that on C but it can't and immediattely after is shows the error on screen.
Anyone who also has this problem or solved it? There are no problems with simple self made pdf files/scans but only with certain types of pdf files for which it tries to create a tmp file.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Brogers,
Thanks for your reaction. We do have AppData redirection in place. We redirect AppData to a share on our data server which works perfectly fine for all other applications. The weird thing is that Reader/Acrobat try to write to C:\ which to my knowledge should not happen, is this maybe a fallback because it can’t write to a different location? Users have full control on their own roaming AppData but not on their local AppData that is made by windows itself while copying the mandatory default profile to C:\.
I might use the wrong term while saying secured documents. I’m talking about a document created by Raet/Youforce a web application for personal administration. The documents can be opened by other viewers than Acrobat/Reader but then only contain the background and not the text. In Acrobat/Reader they do open normally when Acrobat/Reader can create the .tmp file. Otherwise it will not display the file at all. I would attach such a document to see but since it contains certain info I am not allowed to do so.
I hope we can work out a solution for this.
