Windows Default Characterset ?

I m using windows 2000 server/professional,
this time I m able to write my own language URDU in every windows application e.g word, note pad,msn messenger,
"But what is rong here with Developer forms/Reports 6i"
Which of the charactersets on client site is best compatible with windows characterset??
with AR8MSWIN1256
I m able to write URDU strings in developer text boxes
what when i retreive data from database it replaces orignal string with '?????'
with AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
I m able to write and even retrieve URDU strings in developer text boxes
but when I want to enlarge the font size in reports..it again replace the original strings with meaning less characters.
Can any one suggest me the best sollution??

One dba contacted me and made this statement:
Import & export utilities are not independent from characterset. All
user data in text related datatypes is exported using the character set
of the source database. If the character sets of the source and target
databases do not match a single conversion is performed. So far, that does not appear to be correct.
nls_characterset = AL32UTF8
nls_nchar_characterset = UTF8
Running on Windows.
EXP produces a backup in WE8MSWIN1252.
I found that if I change the setting of the NLS_LANG registry setting for my oracle home, the exp utility exports to that character set.
I changed the nls_lang
from AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
Unfortunately , the export isn't working right, although it did change character sets.
I get a warning on a possible character set conversion issue from AL32UTF8 to UTF8.
Plus, I get an EXP_00056 Oracle error 932 encountered
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected BLOB, CLOB, get CHAR.
EXP-00000: export terminated unsuccessfully.
The schema I'm exporting with has exactly one procedure in it. Nothing else.
I guess getting a new error message is progress. :)
Still can't store multi-lingual characters in data tables.

  • Can Reader pick up the Default Page Size of a printer that is not the Windows Default Printer?

We have a web based application that generates PDF documents via Crystal Reports.
We are using Adobe Reader 8
The PDF pages are displayed within an Internet Explorer window where the the users then print the document.
The application is designed so the user only gets one chance to print the document (ie they cant come back and change printer settings if they happen to print the document out incorrectly)
The document needs to be printed on A3 paper, full duplex.
We have a printer set-up decidated to the printing of the documents generated by this application.  The default page size of this printer is set of A3.
If we set this dedicated printer as the Windows Default Printer we have no problems at all.  The default page size (A3) is picked up and the document is printed correctly.
If any other printer is set as the Windows Default Printer (eg one that has a default page size of A4), the users must obviously select the correct printer from the Print Dialogue Box -however when the user selects the dedicated A3 printer, the page size remains as A4 (page size of the Windows Default Printer).  This means the user must remember to change the paper size to A3 each time.
Out users find IT a struggle at the best of times - anything that makes the process simpler is very welcomed!
Is there a way to ensure the default page size of the printer is respected when that printer is not the Windows Default Printer?
    Thanks!

    No.

  • Use of windows default printer causes labels to be mis-printed.

I am printing a crystal report via the vb.net viewer to an avery dennison label printer.
I have configured the size of the label for the avery dennison into the Seagull driver that exists on the workstation where I am printing the report.
The crystal report has been configured to use the printer name and page size from the driver on the workstation.
When I make the Avery Dennison printer on the workstation the windows default printer and print the report to the Avery Dennison printer, the label prints out correctly.
When I make another printer on the workstation the windows default printer and print the label to the Avery Dennison printer, the label prints across two labels.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Praveen,
#No of Copies#  in transaction /SCWM/PRWO6   is not actual number of copies . This is more  an index how the number of copies is determined . Please use F4  on this field and you will see that index 2 means "Number of Copies" = 1.
In Transaction /SCWM/ 60000431 you need to actual number of copies for your document. But this number  is only taken if you set the index in /SCWM/PRWO6 to "0".
I hope this information helps you.

  • Acrobat 8 install forced change to different Windows Default Printer

Immediately after installing Adobe 8 Pro my Windows default printer changed and I can't get it to stay set to the default that I want. Everytime I restart my computer the Windows default printer is set to the one it changed to after installing Acrobat 8 (not the one I had set as default the last time I used the computer).
Also, everytime I restart my computer I get a "Please Wait while Adobe Acrobat Installs..." dialog. I also get this dialog the first time I open any MS Office application following every computer restart.
    Win XP

Aandi - I am going through the Windows Start button... Printers and Faxes, then right-clicking on the printer that I want as my default printer and selecting 'Set as Default Printer'. It remains the default printer until I restart my computer. Then the printer that the Acrobat installation set as the default comes back as the default.

  • Trying to configure Windows default Monitor RGB

Hi, I am trying to figure out the Windows color management interface to set up and confirm Monitor RGB.
Also how to set up and confirm that Windows is Defaulting to sRGB in untagged/unmanaged apps.
Thanks in advance for any help...
    First DEVICES tab:
In this screen shot, I see Device is set to "Display: Generic PnP Monitor-ATI"
This doesn't look like a monitor profile (what is it)?
I see "Use my settings for this device" is checked
What behavior does that turn off/on?
In ICC Profiles, I see "Starbucks.icm (default)"
This looks like the Default monitor profile, but how/where was it selected?

Okay, I plugged my Vista hard drive into my Mac Pro and booted into Windows Vista and took a deeper look.
Control Panel> Color Management> Device tab:
"Display: Generic PnP Monitor - NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT" appears to selecting the monitor attached to that card.
To see the actual monitor, go to Device Manager> Monitors (expand): right+click on Generic PnP Monitor> Properties> Details tab> click/expand Property drop menu and scroll to Hardware Ids ("Value" should list monitor). I am not sure what PnP means (plug & play?).
Checking "Use my settings for this device" probably lets me add and select profiles and behaviors to use with this monitor.
Unchecking "Use my settings for this device" probably tells Windows to make these decisions for me behind the mystery curtain (not desired if you like to know what's happening).
To select/change Windows Default Monitor RGB:
For example, if I wanted to switch my Monitor RGB to sRGB, I would click on "Add..." and choose the sRGB profile from the list of profiles installed on the system.  Same routine if I had a custom monitor profile....
Once I have the desired monitor profile appearing in Devices> Name — to set it as my Monitor RGB — I would click on it to highlight it, then click on "Set as Default Profile" (and reboot for safe measure and to be sure the change sticks after rebooting).
    +++++++
To confirm Windows Default Monitor RGB:
Go to Control Panel> Color Management> Device tab (and note profile "(default)".
This "(default)" designation probably identifies the current Windows default monitor profile, and it is probably where Photoshop picks up its Monitor RGB profile.
In other words, in the above example, Windows is using the "Starbucks.icm" custom monitor profile.
    +++++++
    To confirm Photoshop's Monitor RGB:
In Photoshop, go to Edit> Color Settings.
See Working Spaces> RGB and click to expand the drop menu.
Photoshop's Monitor RGB is the profile listed to the right of "Monitor RGB - (profile name)".
Note: Never set Working RGB to Monitor RGB (I am only pointing this out so you know where to confirm what profile Photoshop is using for Monitor RGB)...

  • My windows default printer is an HP 2015, but when I print anything from Firefox it defaults to Adobe. Can I fix this?

When I try to print from Firefox, the Adobe PDF printer is pre-selected in the printer dialog box, even though my default windows printer is a laser jet.
Both printers work just fine, but changing printers every time is a nuisance.
This happens whenever I print anything on Firefox, including emails.

Sorry, Firefox doesn't use the Windows "default printer" as the default printer, but rather it uses the last used printer as the "default". That doesn't always happen when the printer involved goes into stand-by and is "offline", from what I have seen on my small LAN.
Just one of the hundreds of print related Bugs or nuisances in Firefox that I doubt will ever be fixed, until they write all new code for printing

  • Want to change Form MDI Window default icon as well as default window icon

    Hi,
I am using oracle forms 10g. I need to change the mdi window default icon as well as default window icon of inner form. But i do not know the way. Pls help me.

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/webutil/webutil.htm
webutil lets you access the client machine from webforms. you'll need to install it on the application server and include the webutil library and object group in the form which will change the MDI window's icon (probably the first form in the application).

  • Can javamail use windows default outgoing smtp mail server and port?

how can i use windows default outgoing smtp service and port from javamail? is it possible to retrieve this info or just instruct javamail to use default?
    thanks

Windows doesn't have a default SMTP server. However if you have something like Outlook or Outlook Express or Eudora or Netscape Mail or whatever set up on your Windows box, you will have already told it what SMTP server it should connect to.
That information would be in the Windows registry, or in the config file of whatever e-mail client you already have set up. However it's probably easier to just have your application ask for the SMTP server's name again rather than trying to find where some other application stashed it.

  • 1820m - Using E-DSP Wave for Windows Default Recording Device?

Good Morning! I just ran into an interesting problem. My professional applications all use EMU-ASIO (1820m) and work perfectly fine. But I have this prgram called Jing, that can record short videos of your screen so you can share how-tos, and short training snippets. The problem is that it records audio from the Windows default device for sound recording. Mine is set up as "E-DSP Wave." But a mic plugged into the audio dock does not register any signal in the Windows recording hardware. I'm fairly sure there is a way to do this in PatchMix (Version 2.0) via inserts or something, but I've tried the manual and some trial/error, and can't figure it out.
Can someone give me a clue? This seems like it should be a no-brainer.
    Thanks.
    Ken

Just to add a bit of information to the above, as yet unsolved problem...Windows XP can use the E-DSP Wave just fine for playback! It's only recording that it can't seem to manage. I can select it, but as I said above, the volume control is totally greyed out, and the "test" hardware" function in the "voice recording" window won't register signal from the audio dock. One other thing, I CAN record into Adobe Audition when I select E-DSP Wave from within its audio device window! So sound IS getting into windows through that driver. I just can't figure out why XP won't recognize it.
Again, just hoping someone can give me a clue.
    Thanks.
    Ken

you can only have audio output at one time....it's either your soundcard or the onboard audio....you can go to control panel, audio setting to change the output device.

  • Windows Default Sounds

Am using MSI K8N Neo4-F1, nForce4 Ultra drivers, Realtek Controller AC 97 Audio, drivers 5.10.0.6160. Sound on Windows media Player and Winamp are working fine but I have no windows default sounds, also there is no sound on web pages, youtube etc. Any help on this much appreciated.

Problem solved, I am using 5.1 creative system and had plugged out rear speakers, windows default sounds came up immediately when i reattached banana plugs, never came across this before as default sounds worked on any speaker configuration.

  • Windows default blue title bar

The custom style of a UIR panel title is always replaced by Windows default blue title bar.
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI/Removing-Windows-based-frame-for-UIR/m-p/271361
Is this still true in newer version of LabWindows/CVI?
No way to get around it in CVI 6, 7, 8?

    dcl9000:
In CVI 6.0 through 2010, for child panels only, you can use SetPanelAttribute to set the titlebar style to classic, and then you can set the background color, font, etc.  But it's only for child panels, you can't have a classic main or parent panel.  You'll get a runtime error if you try to set your main panel to a classic titlebar.
    SetPanelAttribute (childPanelHandle, ATTR_TITLEBAR_STYLE, VAL_CLASSIC);
    SetPanelAttribute (childPanelHandle, ATTR_TITLE_BACKCOLOR, VAL_DK_YELLOW);

  • I installed a new printer and set it as the Windows default printer but Thunderbird won't find it.

Using Windows 8.1 - x64 - Thunderbird 31.3.0 (Firefox 34.0.5 has found the new default printer)
I read about resetting printer.printer_printer and printer_printer but....
printer.printer_printer did not exist in the file.
Then I found printer_printer and chose "reset" closed and saved the file then closed and restarted Thunderbird.
But now the printer_printer command has disappeared completely from the file and the old printer info was left unchanged.
Then I went to the Windows "Printers and Devices" menu and deleted the old printer that Thunderbird was pointing to.
Then I closed Thunderbird again restarted Thunderbird and now the "print" command in the file menu is greyed out.
(Also the old printer info is still unchanged in the config file )
I would reinstall Thunderbird and just start over except I have about a dozen email accounts on several servers and have spent a lot of time recently on reconfiguring them to work on upgraded servers. Also I don't know how to save my emails if I reinstall Thunderbird (Is it possible to do this?)
I've googled for ideas but haven't found anything beyond the reset function.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've rebooted numerous times, reloaded the software twice, spent 4 hrs on the phone with HP and 2 with Adobe. No luck. It simply doesn't show the new printer in the drop down menu for Pro or Reader and yet shows time in all in Office, Paint, Web options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Why does Apple Mail window default to wrong monitor?

I have two 30" Apple monitors with a MacPro 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon running Mavericks. In previous systems I would have my Apple Mail open on the second monitor. Since Mavericks nothing I do will let Mail open anywhere but in its default position, which is upper left corner of main monitor. Very frustrating. I must manually move it every time I launch Mail. Any solutions out there?
fyi - iTunes window opens to the same position where I had closed it, which is on my second monitor where I want it.

I have this with Firefox once in a while. To get it back where I want it, I open FF and drag it to the display I want it on & maximize it. Then, I open iTunes on the display I DON'T want FF in, and maximize it. Open a few tabs and close the window. When I reopen it iTunes prevents FF from opening on the other display and it goes back to the secondary.
That may or may not work with Mail

  • Pdf files will not display in english, windows default

    Hello,
When I download a pdf file I cannot get it to display in english.
the default is set at windows, but I always seem to get a display in other languages.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Pam

Ok. I reloaded v 11.0.04 of Adobe Reader after quiting Safari 6.0.5 . Then deleted the 2 plug-ins AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin . Relaunched Safari and tried to read a pdf from a repository at the URL mentioned in post 10 . The file was loaded and displayed correctly. Also a pdf file from my local disk store displayed nicely as well. What I do not understand is that there is no listing of an Adobe plug in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins , nor does Safari list any Adobe plug ins. So in that case this means that plug-ins for the display of pdfs in Safari windows are no longer needed!
Adobe Reader version 11.0.04  is now working for me.
Thanks for the help and the solution C.F.McBlob
