    @Harty,
In your very first post you stated, this issue started after a system recovery, how long ago did you do the recovery?

  • LaunchDaemon does not start at boot, but manually

    Hi all
I have a LaunchDaemon entry for apache that does not start at system boot.
It contains the following keys that might affect the behaviour.
    <key>OnDemand</key>
    <false/>
    <key>RunAtLoad</key>
    <true/>
I can manually load the script using
    sudo launchctl load /LibraryLaunchDaemomns/org.macports.svn.plist
Maybe I did not fully understand the LaunchDaemon concept. My program is
a wrapper that will start svnserve as a standalone server.
As I mentioned earlier it works fine manually, both "load" and "unload" successfully start and stop the service.
    I'd appreciate any comments
    Thanks a lot

    Good evening
I want to startup my SVN service on a local RAID volume, but need to wait
until it is mounted. To do so I added the following to my daemons plist:
    <key>KeepAlive</key>
    <dict>
    <key>PathState</key>
    <string>/Volumes/RAID</string>
    </dict>
Maybe this is useful to someone in this forum.

  • Agent service on Windows does not start

    Ok:
Grid Control 10.2.0.1, repository 10.1.0.4, Linux Red hat 4
Target node is a windows 2003 server (kinda, its on VMWare) with no service pack installed (don't ask). There is no oracle software on the target node except an oracle 10.2.0.3 agent. We just monitor the host up/down.
Ok this was working until the windows server crashed. It was restarted but then the agent would not start. It complained about not being able to load files and after three attempts it crashed. I removed it from grid, deinstalled the agent then reinstalled it with no errors. The same thing then happened, start the agent ok, then try an upload and it would fail and crash the agent:

    In the logs:

But nothing is grabbing the 3872 port on the target host for the agent. The target host can 'see' the grid control server. There is no firewall in between.
I have an SR open, oracle are pointing the finger at a dodgy agent install (I've sent them the install logs to verify) or a firewall issue, but the target host certaintly does not have one.
I'm a bit of a loss now to be honest, any thoughts anyone? Not really used the agent on windows much.

If I clean out the logs and do:
    emctl start agent
    emctl status agent
The only logs produced are emctl.log:

  • Windows does not appear as boot option

I've successfully installed Windows 7 using Bootcamp. Everything was setup and woeking properly, drivers etc... I set Bootcamp to boot to MacOSX by default, and now I can't get back to Windows. When booting, I hold alt/option key to select the OS I want, but MacOSX is the only one that appears. Windows is not a choice!
Is there a fix for this, am I missing something? or should I simply wipe the Windows partition and start over?
    Much appreciated!

  • Windows does not start after recovery

Hi, my son's sattelite 1800 started getting slower and slower to the point where it took almost an hour to boot into Windows. It got to the stage where it looked like recovery from the CD's was the only route - so we did. All looked successful from the recovery point of view but Windows XP Setup displays 'Please wait...' with normal looking disk activity for 20-30 seconds and then hangs - no disk activity, mouse stops responding. I've gone through the recovery in 'expert' mode and don't see any issues with the recovery process. Questions:
    1. Has anyone else seen this?
    2. What else can I do diagnostic-wise?
    3. What, fundamentally, does the recovery process do/ (does it re-format partitions, might it have left a virus?)
    4. Am I best following h/w or s/w diags?
    Bitshifter

    Hello
On this way it is not easy to give you a proper explanation why this happen. If you use the recovery CD for OS installation the HDD will be formatted and the OS will be clean installed. IF you use standard mode the whole HDD capacity will be used for just one partition. Using expert mode you can create two partitions or you can install OS on persisting partition.
Usually after recovery reinstallation there should not be any problem except for HDD malfunction.
Please wait message occur after first start and you can not compare it with usual boot up process. That first start after recovery procedure takes much longer time because the OS must detects all hardware components, install drivers and prepare the OS for the usage.
For further start the OS doesnt need so much time for boot up process.
    Bye

  • Windows does not start and cannot get into safe recovery mode

Had a blue screen and when I start up Windows wants to run in safe mode. But this runs for a few seconds and then stops with a blank screen (have left this for over 2 hours).
If I select to start windows normally then the system just reboots to the windows repair screen.
I do not have a recovery disk as Windows vista was pre-installed. Any clues ?

    Hi,
The possible reason is that Windows bootmanager or the system files are corrupted. You say that you haven't made a recovery disk, but what about Hdd image recovery (pressing F8 on startup)? If it's already removed, you have to:
    1. Order the recovery disk https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx Note, it's not free
2 Get a copy of Windows vista and install it. Then, download the all necessary drivers and enjoy it.

  • [SOLVED]dhcpcd does not start on boot anymore

    Hello,
I reinstalled Arch last night to try and be as to the letter as possible because I had three bad installs( or so I thought https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=195192 ) and it was going well. I tweaked some SSD Optimization configs and went to bed.
Today I wanted to install OpenBox so first I tried to update my system with pacman -Syu (without reading the change log or anything of course) and I couldn't download anything. A quick ping to google.com gave an unknown host error. Nothing has changed over night and I rebooted the machine last night a couple of times and I always had internet connection. The guide said that dhcpcd runs automatically on boot and I looked through the change logs at the places I understood and couldn't find anything about this being disabled on boot now. I do see that it was updated in the last 24 hours but again, nothing about auto run on boot being disabled.
Little things like this bug me, I can enable the service using systemctl and call it a day but I was wondering if I was the only one experiencing this. If I'm the only one then it probably isn't a good thing.
SOLVED: Did not read the Beginner's Guide within context of the installation medium.

What packages were upgraded? If I am understanding you correctly, dhcpcd was enabled and working fine before the upgrade, but after the upgrade dhcpcd appears to be disabled. Is that correct? Two bits of informaiton you should post here are the complete list of updated packages and the output of
    systemctl status dhcpcd
SirMyztiq wrote:Nothing has changed over night and I rebooted the machine last night a couple of times and I always had internet connection.
You previously say you upgraded then went to bed, so that would be the change. I'm a little confused by these seemingly contradictory assertions.
    I apologize for the confusion.
I'll give you the current list of packages as soon as I install a browser on my machine(I'm on my laptop) but I can tell you that all I had last night was the "base" and "base-devel" packages installed. I mainly did tweaking like setting the scheduler dynamically on my ssd to "deadline" following the SSD Optimization wiki and read a bit about OpenBox to make sure I get it right. I also rebooted the computer a couple of times to check for that "time out" bug I mentioned. It all checked out, so I went to bed.
I power her up today, try to do a system update and I wasn't able to. A ping to google.com gave me an "unknown host" error. I checked both the "status" and whether it was "enabled" with their respective systemctl commands and both gave me the feedback that it was not active nor was it enabled.
I'll edit the original post to be more clear and look like I have some grasp of English.

  • WebAnalysis does not start after workspace is set on Windows Authentication

I've used [doc Hyperion System 9.3.x Configuring the BI+ Workspace for Single Sign-On (SSO) with Internet Information Services (IIS) [ID 1100096.1] to configure SSO for workspace users. It works fine. Though since then the WA service does not start anymore. The error message which is raised sounds very very familar but still I am not able to tackle it. The message in the log or the analysis console is "[WARN] [STANDBY] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.analyzer.utils.general.HYAUtil - Wait for workspace [
    [WARN] Timer-2 com.hyperion.analyzer.utils.general.HYAUtil - ."
I am very sure it had something to do with rights/ permissions, but also after playing around with IIS and ntfs permissions for hours I can't get SSO en WA both working at the same time.
As soon as I set my workspace aplication in IIS on windows integrated, the SSO is working but as soon as a I restart the WA service it fails to start. When I set the workspace application IIS on anonymous the WA service start fine but then the SSO is not working anymore.
    It drives me crazy.
Hopefully its a small matter for you to solve!
    Thanks in advance.

Dont know exactly whats happened but I presume something went wrong during the update procedure.
If you will be not able to start the notebook in the safe mode or to boot the notebook then user the Toshiba recovery CD to gets the notebook working!

You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various
parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle...
this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video

You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows
(or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on
drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in

  • Satellite L300D-11A - Windows vista does not starts

    Hi,
When I turn on my computer I get the following error message:
    Error Recovery for Windows
Windows could not start up. A hardware or software change that was recently carried out may be the cause.
If windows files are damaged or incorrectly configured, you can start the repair tool to help you diagnose and resolve the problem. If the power supply was interrupted during startup, choose start windows normally.
    Start startup repair tool (recommended)
    Start windows normally.
After a while windows automatically selects the first option and try to load windows in recovery mode but then I get the following error:
"The installed software could not start. Click ok to shutdown the computer".
When it shutdowns and I start the computer again I get the same error message where I started with the 2 options of recovery mode or start windows normally.
When I select the 2. option (start windows normally), it loads windows and after a while reboots and then I get the same error again with the two options.
I have tried to boot from CD (recovery disk, vista bootable cd) and computer tries a while but then it gives up and start booting from HDD again. (I have altered to boot from CD first in BIOS).
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
I have Toshiba laptop model nr: L300D-11A

    Hi
If I understood you message, you have tried to boot from Recovery disk and from MS Vista CD and neither recovery disk not Vista CD worked.
    Is it right?
Hmm thats very strange.. Maybe you could remove the HDD from the notebook and could put it into an external USB HDD case.
Then you could format this HDD using another computer.
After that you could try to reinstall the OS again
Please also enter the BIOS and set it to default settings set the SATA mode to compatible and try to boot from Vista CD again
    Good luck

    This is the situation:
We have 2 PCs that have been configured identically, with the exception of a scanner (canonScan 9950F) attached to the computer and the 32 bits twain scanner driver installed.
Both PCs worked correctly, the one with the scanner attached started 32 bit PhotoShop when there was need to scan. But for some obscure reason, 32 bits Photoshop does not work anymore. I have tried disabling the twain driver (by moving it out of the plugins directory), restarting the machine, updating to the latest software, but despite this, Photoshop does not start anymore... no beep, no crash, no nothing.
I deinstalled Photoshop, Reinstalled - same phenomena.

    Lucien.

The Photoshop executable really should be showing 12.0.4.0 as the executable version should have been updated by the updater.
I'm sorry for the really basic question, but did you reboot after installing the 12.0.4 update?
I do vaguely remember a few forum posts claiming the updater had only worked partially, though in my own case it updated all the files no problem.  Can you recall whether you changed anything under the Photoshop 32 bit installation area (e.g., did you move or remove any of  the Adobe plug-ins, for example)?
If memory serves, the workaround for a "partial update" was to uninstall Photoshop, then reinstall 12.0.0, then update to 12.0.4.
