Windows Doesn't Recognize my 8900
When I first connected my BB 8900 to my Vista PC, it "found new hardware" and said it was ready to use, but Windows Explorer never recognized it as a device. I tried another USB port, same thing. I then tried to use an XP PC, which opened an explorer window after installing the 8900. Success! I then tried to load music with the Media Manager program--and the PC froze up solid after loading several songs. When I restarted, the PC no longer would recognize my BB. Both PCs make the familiar bee-doop sound when I connect the BB, but it doesn't show up as a device, either in Explorer or the Control Panel. Upshot? I can't use my BB for any form of storage--no music, no video, no pictures, nothing. (I have a 4GB Toshiba card, with the mass storage feature turned on.)
Is there some way to get my PCs to recognize my BB?
Thanks,
Robert Marshall
I brought it into the store and they were able to restore itfor me.

Trying to charge my shuffle and windows doesn't Recognize it.
I was trying to charge my son's shuffle and windows doesn't Recognize it both of them. I even tryed to charg them in the pluge in. But that does not work eather.
I fixed the problem. When I was trying to clean the connector of the iPhone I must have bent some pins. I have straightened them to the best of my ability and now it syncs. If your iPhone charges, but doesn't sync, most likely you have a similar problem, because the iPhone doesn't need all of its pins to charge, but it does need all of them to sync.

Updated to 1.2.2 - Now Windows Doesn't Recognize
Hiya, I've had this 5G 80gb iPod for about a year and this is the first major problem I've encountered.
After updating to 1.2.2 (something I now regret) Windows refuses to recognize my iPod, I've followed all the guidelines and I've even tried to connect it to my laptop to no avail. The Device Manager seems to show a problem with the USB port, but I can use other hardware without any problem, and the iPod won't work on any of my six ports (there's a weird 'negative' sound each time I connect it). I can listen to my music alright, but I can't take or put anything in my iPod if Windows doesn't recognize it.
Could it be a version problem? And in that case, is there a way of reverting the firmware?
Thanks in advance.Hi CamBej,
Have a look at this article about windows not recognising iPod,
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136
If you want to revert back to version 1.2.1 on your iPod you will have to restore it, version 1.2.2 has been removed as it was causing a lot of problems.

HP laptop (Windows) doesn't recognize printer
I have an Airport Express. Cable modem is plugged into it. HP PhotoSmart 3210 is plugged into USB. RCA jack is running from AE to receiver. My iMac can access the internet (wireless airport connection), and I can print to the HP. However, I can't see the printer on the network. I have an HP laptop running windows xp. It recognizes the network, and I can connect to the internet. It doesn't recognize the printer either. Any suggestions?

IPod Firewire 10 GB Mac-formatted. Windows doesn't recognize it
Hello, folks,
I'm iPod newbie, got older 10 Gb Firewire touch wheel iPod recently and trying to connect it to PC.
PC has Belkin Firewire card.
I've charged ipod, then reset it, installed iTunes, Xplay and MacDrive software on my PC.
When i connect ipod to PC it shows disk platter icon with a magnifying glass, and progress bar under that icon is showing progress. After about 10 minutes this icon appears (disk platter with a checkmark): http://www0.info.apple.com/images/kbase/60943/60943_3.jpg
When i try to connect ipod to PC it doesn't recognize it (and none of the programs - iTunes, MacDrive and Xplay - neither).Despite the name "Classic" this forum is for the latest versions of the iPod line. You want to repost your question in this area...

Windows doesn't recognize iPod Touch 8gb 3g
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and after I upgraded my iPod Touch to iOS4, it got stuck in DFU mode and is stuck in a continuous DFU mode loop. My computer won't recognize the device and I've done everything to try to reinstall the mobile device driver, I've reinstalled iTunes, rebooted the iPod, and I just don't know what to do anymore. Somebody please help me.

I found a solution! I uninstalled everything from Apple on my computer. Everything. Bonjour, Apple Software Update, iTunes, everything Apple related that was on my PC. I then went to my Appdata folders and deleted all of the Apple and Apple Computer folders I could find. Then I rebooted and reinstalled iTunes and now it works fine! I hope this helps some more people as well!
I did exactly that, as I was told to do that by an Apple advisor, only it just brought me back to square one. Same probelm as before the uninstall, ipod in recovery mode, and itunes not recognizing it.
After that, they have shipped me a prepaid box for repair/replacement. I recommend everone else with same problem to do the same. Hopefull the new one I get will have OS4 installed and work fine. ****, I'll take 3.1.2 at this point, just want the **** thing to work. -
Windows doesn't recognize Ipod and causes iTunes to Crash. . HELP!!
Hi,
Recently, I plugged in my ipod (30GB Photo) to my computer (running windows XP with SP2) and it caused itunes to crash. I rebooted the machine and tried again and the same thing has happened. I've spent the past day trying to fix it. I have done the following things and nothing has worked:
-reset my IPOD
-formated my IPOD (erased all the songs)
-uninstalled and reinstalled ITUNES & QUICKTIME
-tried to reinstall the ipod on the computer using the original cd.
-disabled startup items to check if anything has been conflicting
-tried all the usb ports on my computer and 2 different wires
I don't know what else to do! I don't think the ipod is formatted for windows anymore (is that possible?) and whenever I try plugging it in, iTunes freezes up until I unplug the ipod. As well, Explorer recognizes it as a "Removable Disk" not IPOD.
Please helpppppp! Thank you sooo muchHi there
You're pretty much describing a problem I had yesterday.
I've got the 2gb model and initially it was working fine. I run off a 4 port usb hub with other equipment running as well.
Everything was okay but I kept getting a balloon telling me that usb 2.0 would be faster, so I routed my extension cable directly to a usb 2.0 port on my computer and all of what you describe started.
The PC showed my nano as a removeable drive but could not be acesssed. If I managed to get it recognised in itunes (took forever) then it just said it was corrupted and was unable to restore.
After much cursing and trawling the internet for answers, I gave up and put the cable back to the hub.
And.....everything worked again !!
I can only conclude that my hub (quite old) does not work on usb 2.0, or putting the extension cable (5m) straight into my PC causes a power drop / signal loss ??
Are you using an extension cable or a hub? something to try.
Good luck anyway

Windows doesn't recognize my ipod
I have the 30gb video ipod and when i was playing a game it froze. So I connected it to my computer and itunes loaded up and it said my ipod was currupt and i should reinstall the software. So I did and it started to when my computer froze (which has only happened once before). So i turned off my computer and restarted it, but then it wouldn't recognize my ipod and i can't get itunes to find the ipod so i can't update the software. And windows keeps on saying no drivers are found on the ipod so i can't really do anything with my ipod.
Does anyone have any idea how to get my ipod to be recognized by itunes and/or windows?I brought it into the store and they were able to restore itfor me.

Windows doesn't recognize quicktime file
I am having trouble getting windows to recognize movie file from an external hardrive. When I open the file in windows I get the error-2048: the file is not a movie file. It also reads the file size as 1 kb. When i open the same file on my iBook it plays perfectly.
I have quicktime pro on windows, and it will play some movie files, but none of these from the external drive.(copy files to the desktop didn't change anything)
Any suggestions?Sounds like you may have made the file a dependent or reference movie file. That is sort of like an alias in that it makes reference to another file for the actual data. This kind of file is often very small and of course since the actual data file resides somewhere on your Mac the PC cannot find it.
To verify if it is a reference movie open it on your Mac and check Movie Properties/Files. That should contain the name of the actual data file. If this is the problem you can resave it using Save As and then selecting the option to make the movie self-contained.
