Windows doesn't recognize my Mac burned Data disks. Why?

I have a few files in Mp3, AVI and MP4 format that I've put onto a DVD as data and while it works fine on my Mac computers, none of the files seem to show up on a Windows based computer. Did I do something wrong in the burning process? I was making a back up DVD of things like my music and I can't put them on another computer now. Any suggestions? Or is more information needed?

I've been using Disk Utility DVDs all this time. So I'm guessing it all depends on doing a Finder DVD instead? If so, I will try that sometime.

  • Adobe Premiere 13 doesn't recognize my DVD burner

I am running Premiere 13 and am trying to burn a DVD.  I can burn the project to a folder, but cannot burn directly to a DVD.  The program doesn't recognize my DVD burner.  When I use Windows Explorer to copy the files to a DVD, the DVD will not play in my DVD/Blue Ray player.  The player recognizes the DVD -R format, but shows a blank screen, even though I have created the project with menus.  Any pointers would be appreciated.  I am running Windows 7.

Set your Premiere Elements DVD output to a folder on your hard drive and then use the FREE Imgburn to burn the folder to disc for DVD... Premiere Elements 13 WILL write a DVD or BluRay to an ISO (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)

  • Trying to charge my shuffle and windows doesn't Recognize it.

I was trying to charge my son's shuffle and windows doesn't Recognize it both of them. I even tryed to charg them in the pluge in. But that does not work eather.

I fixed the problem. When I was trying to clean the connector of the iPhone I must have bent some pins. I have straightened them to the best of my ability and now it syncs. If your iPhone charges, but doesn't sync, most likely you have a similar problem, because the iPhone doesn't need all of its pins to charge, but it does need all of them to sync.

  • Updated to 1.2.2 - Now Windows Doesn't Recognize

Hiya, I've had this 5G 80gb iPod for about a year and this is the first major problem I've encountered.
After updating to 1.2.2 (something I now regret) Windows refuses to recognize my iPod, I've followed all the guidelines and I've even tried to connect it to my laptop to no avail. The Device Manager seems to show a problem with the USB port, but I can use other hardware without any problem, and the iPod won't work on any of my six ports (there's a weird 'negative' sound each time I connect it). I can listen to my music alright, but I can't take or put anything in my iPod if Windows doesn't recognize it.
Could it be a version problem? And in that case, is there a way of reverting the firmware?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi CamBej,
Have a look at this article about windows not recognising iPod,
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136
If you want to revert back to version 1.2.1 on your iPod you will have to restore it, version 1.2.2 has been removed as it was causing a lot of problems.

Did you close the disc, or leave it open for further burning sessions?

  • IPod Firewire 10 GB Mac-formatted. Windows doesn't recognize it

    Hello, folks,
I'm iPod newbie, got older 10 Gb Firewire touch wheel iPod recently and trying to connect it to PC.
    PC has Belkin Firewire card.
I've charged ipod, then reset it, installed iTunes, Xplay and MacDrive software on my PC.
When i connect ipod to PC it shows disk platter icon with a magnifying glass, and progress bar under that icon is showing progress. After about 10 minutes this icon appears (disk platter with a checkmark): http://www0.info.apple.com/images/kbase/60943/60943_3.jpg
When i try to connect ipod to PC it doesn't recognize it (and none of the programs - iTunes, MacDrive and Xplay - neither).

Despite the name "Classic" this forum is for the latest versions of the iPod line. You want to repost your question in this area...

My computer (PC) will not recognize my ipod touch anymore. When I plug it in, it says the USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. I have tried attaching the same cord and ipod to a different computer and it is recognized by our mac. I have tried restarting the ipod, downloading all updates on my pc, restarting the pc, etc. Nothing has worked. Please advise.

  • Windows doesn't recognize Ipod and causes iTunes to Crash. . HELP!!

    Hi,
Recently, I plugged in my ipod (30GB Photo) to my computer (running windows XP with SP2) and it caused itunes to crash. I rebooted the machine and tried again and the same thing has happened. I've spent the past day trying to fix it. I have done the following things and nothing has worked:
    -reset my IPOD
-formated my IPOD (erased all the songs)
-uninstalled and reinstalled ITUNES & QUICKTIME
-tried to reinstall the ipod on the computer using the original cd.
-disabled startup items to check if anything has been conflicting
-tried all the usb ports on my computer and 2 different wires
I don't know what else to do! I don't think the ipod is formatted for windows anymore (is that possible?) and whenever I try plugging it in, iTunes freezes up until I unplug the ipod. As well, Explorer recognizes it as a "Removable Disk" not IPOD.
Please helpppppp! Thank you sooo much

    Hi there
You're pretty much describing a problem I had yesterday.
I've got the 2gb model and initially it was working fine. I run off a 4 port usb hub with other equipment running as well.
Everything was okay but I kept getting a balloon telling me that usb 2.0 would be faster, so I routed my extension cable directly to a usb 2.0 port on my computer and all of what you describe started.
The PC showed my nano as a removeable drive but could not be acesssed. If I managed to get it recognised in itunes (took forever) then it just said it was corrupted and was unable to restore.
After much cursing and trawling the internet for answers, I gave up and put the cable back to the hub.
    And.....everything worked again !!
I can only conclude that my hub (quite old) does not work on usb 2.0, or putting the extension cable (5m) straight into my PC causes a power drop / signal loss ??
Are you using an extension cable or a hub? something to try.
    Good luck anyway
    Regards

  • Transfer music from PC to Mac using data disks or external drive?

I have my iPhone synced with my office computer (a PC running XP Pro) and originally had my iPad synced with the same PC computer.
But now I synced my iPad with my Macbook pro at home.
Is there anyway to transfer the music and playlists via data disks (or external drive) from the office PC to the home Macbook?
If so, can you please tell me very slowly how to do that. What do I need to transfer and what is the file called, etc... I'm not very familiar with PCs (I'm more of a Mac person).
    Thanks in advance,
    Anne

  • Windows doesn't recognize quicktime file

I am having trouble getting windows to recognize movie file from an external hardrive. When I open the file in windows I get the error-2048: the file is not a movie file. It also reads the file size as 1 kb. When i open the same file on my iBook it plays perfectly.
I have quicktime pro on windows, and it will play some movie files, but none of these from the external drive.(copy files to the desktop didn't change anything)
    Any suggestions?

Sounds like you may have made the file a dependent or reference movie file. That is sort of like an alias in that it makes reference to another file for the actual data. This kind of file is often very small and of course since the actual data file resides somewhere on your Mac the PC cannot find it.
To verify if it is a reference movie open it on your Mac and check Movie Properties/Files. That should contain the name of the actual data file. If this is the problem you can resave it using Save As and then selecting the option to make the movie self-contained.
