Windows error 127 when trying to download itunes

I have been trying to download iTunes for 2 days now.  I have been on the forums and have followed all the instructions for deleting everything 'apple' from my computer and reloading iTunes.  Nothing has worked.  I don't understand why this is happening since I have had iTunes for years and have had not problems.

Often that will indicate that one of the related software components for iTunes (most commonly Apple Application Support) is damaged. If that what is afoot, the following documents may be of assistance.

  • Windows Error 2 when trying to download iTunes 9 - HELP!

    Hi,
Not sure of this is a Microsoft error or an Apple but I am trying to download the new iTunes on my Windows Vista computer and I'm getting the following error:
'Apple Application Support was not found
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes and then reinstall again
    Error 2 (Windows Error 2)'
When I go into my Programmes, I can see that Apple Application Support is in there? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and am still getting the same error.
Has anybody else encountered this and know how to fix?
    Thanks!!

    HRESULT: 0x8007054f.
... that seems to have been the most popular alphanumeric code in recent days. (Just like katherine's one.)
In general, these ones tend to be caused by underlying problems on the PC that can prevent Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to fix the Windows Update issues. If we can get Windows Updates flowing again, that generally clears up the iTunes install errors +en passant.+
Head into your Windows Update, and check for any new updates. Do any fail? If so, open your Update History and doubleclick on the failure entries to bring up a small box with alphanumeric error message codes. Are you getting 8000FFFFs? (They often seem to be associated with an iTunes-install 0x8007054f.)
If you're getting 8000FFFFs, try the following Microsoft document:
    [Windows Update Error 8000FFFF|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-Error- 8000FFFF]
Head back to Windows Update, and see if you can get Updates to install successfully this time. If you can get updates now, stock up on any updates you're behind on. Once you're completely up to date in that regard, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • I get error -50 when trying to download iTunes Extras

Every time I try to download the iTunes Extras for movies I've redeemed via Digital Copy the download fails to complete.  It usually errors out with error -50, but occasionally I get another error.  No matter how many times I retry or resume the download it still errors out at the exact same place.  For example, The Little Mermaid extras always die at 212.7 MB into the download.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?  This has been going on for months.  As you can see, the movies (and apps) themselves download just fine.  It's only the iTunes Extras that are failing.
I've tried disabling all firewalls.  I'm using a Linksys EA4500 router and a Comcast-provided business gateway.

Perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in theSpecific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • Error message when trying to download iTunes to PC

I have tried several time to update my iTunes and I keep getting this message.  "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A prrogram rus as a part of te se up did not finish as expected.  Contact your support personel or package vendor."  I have tried several things.  I tried it in firefox and windows explorer.  I even tried to uninstall my iTunes and reinstall now it won't install at all.  So I don't have iTunes now.  Please help.  Thanks.

"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A prrogram rus as a part of te se up did not finish as expected.  Contact your support personel or package vendor."
Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • Family icloud sharing: error message when trying to download itunes content

I just signed up for family icloud sharing, but cannot download any of my husband's itunes content. I just get an error message saying "An error has occurred" with the buttons "retry" or "done. Every file is the same. Thanks in advance for your help!

Some songs will not download if you have restricted your device from downloading explicit content. This seems to be true even for songs that are not marked "explicit." To remove the restriction, if only temporarily: Settings > General > Restrictions > Music, Podcasts & iTunes U > Explicit (slide dot to left).

  • I keep getting an error message when trying to download i tunes. It says it's looking for MSVCR80.dll and I find it on my computer so I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

I keep getting an error message when trying to download itunes. It says it can't find "msvcr80.dll, but when I search for it on my computer it is there. My itunes was working just fine before I got the message to download the latest upgrade. I've not had any problems doing that before now, so don't really know what to do.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
