Windows error 998 by installing labview runtime 8.2.1 on windows xp

Hello,
I got Windows Error 998 during installation of the labview runtime engine 8.2.1 on windows xp system. The installation with the same package worked on serveral other systems with the same os.
Any ideas?

Based on the message it appears it's having problems reading the file. Did you copy the files from a CD? From a network? The file itself may be corrupt. Try recopying the files to your hard drive. You may also want to check your hard drive for errors.

Yes, this is a pain - and I have no idea why NI would design their installers in this way. I can think of no rational reason. In any case, the work around is to uninstall everything and then reinstall in a different order. For example, I ran into the problem was trying to install a runtime executable on a machine that already has some NI drivers installed. Part of that installation was that it installed the V7.1 runtime engine. When I then went to install my executable which was built in V7.0 it wouldn't install. To get around this bug I had to uninstall all NI software and then reinstall my executable and then the drivers, in that order.

Error 1935 when installing LabVIEW on Windows 7

Hello, everyone.
I'm new to Windows 7 and I need to install LabVIEW 8.5.1 and 2010.
The problem is that the installation process (for both versions) gives me a lot of errors related to Microsoft Visual C (code 1935), like the popups attached.
What could be happening?

Hi Daniel,
LabVIEW 8.5.1 is not supported on windows 7. To LabVIEW 2010 you have turn off, during installation, firewall, antivirus and spyware blockers.

Error 1326 while installing labview 6 on windows 2000

I am trying to install LabVIEW 6 on a windows 2000 system. I get an error 1326.Error getting file security
C:\WINNT\system 32\comctl32.ocx GetLasterror:5

I think this is a MS error code. Have you made sure that you have administrator privileges?

Error 1305 when installing LabVIEW 7.1 app built with app builder

I have built an executable with installer from LabVIEW 7.1 app builder. The app installs/works fine, however 1 user reported 'Error 1305' when installing the app from a DOS subset on a WinXP machine. For example, a virtual drive is created using the DOS 'subst' command (see http://www.easydos.com/subst.html for more info), e.g. 'subst z: c:\temp'. Now when running z:\setup.exe, the error 1305 is encountered. If the same app is run from c:, e.g. 'c:\temp\setup.exe', it works fine. Is this a bug in the installer, or in the OS...?

This is an architectural issue with the Microsoft Windows Installer and Windows, and will occur with any MSI (not just those from the app builder). Under XP, a MSI cannot install from OR install to a location created by the "subst" command. My understanding of why is that installSequence runs in the context of the MSI engine, which is running as "system" user. But the subst command is a per-user setting (local to your account) so the MSI engine doesn't see it.
The only workaround is to run the MSI from a non-subst drive, or instead use network file shares (you can simulate what "subst" does by mounting an exported file share from the same machine).

Error 1706 when installing LabVIEW 7.1

Hi,
When installing the device drivers that come with LabVIEW 7.1, near the end of the installation I get the following error message:
Error 1706: No valid source could be found for product LabVIEW 6.0.2. The Windows installer cannot continue. Continue?
The installer completes after this but says that the installation has failed. Any suggestions? Thanks.

This error is not specific to the install of LabVIEW but with the upgrade of the IMAQ device driver.

Please help solving error 1322 while installing Labview 6i

Since I've upgraded my computer with Windows 2000 professional, and interupted once the install, I can't install Labview 6 anymore.
I get error 1322 from the installer, even when i install plain Labview files (no ivi, nidaq etc.)

First of all let's make sure that we have a clean computer, that is I suppose you don't have more NI software on it so you may want to check that in your hard drive you don't have any National Instruments folder under the Program Files directory. And best of all you may want to check your Windows Registry, NOTE: This is very delicate so you must be careful. Go to Start >> Run.. type: "regedit" and enter, first of all make a backup copy of this file... then browse through: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> National Instruments.... you should not have this folder if you haven't install LabVIEW... so you may delete it... "ONLY THIS FOLDER (National Instruments)"..., once you finish close the registry.... and reboot the computer... once back re-check all what
we have done here.... and if everything is ok then let's proceed again to install LabVIEW... if you get the same error please try to install LabVIEW (plain files again, not any driver) in another machine to know if the CD is damaged or not... this type of installation problem Ronald can also be better troubleshoot by phone, the information to contact us is at... www.ni.com/ask , and if there is a need to call us then tell the person in the line about this procedures that you have already tried.

No, you should actutally keep the older runtime engine installed in case you still have applications that depend on it. The 2011 run time will only support applications built with LabVIEW 2011.

The table muks posted refers to supported OS version. So maybe it will work, maybe not. If not, you won't get support from NI.
So in general i do not recommend you to do so (even if it works), but the decision is up to you.

Error 1935 when Installing LabVIEW 8.6 Student Edition

Hi,
I'm trying to help my son get the disks installed that came with his Circuits textbook. It is installing the student edition of LabVIEW 8.6 and getting an error, error 1935 to be exact, when trying to install the CVI package. The system is a 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium OS. Looking over these boards it looks like this error can be generated because of Anti-virus issues and .NET 2.0 issues. I think I have disabled all the various anti-virus programs and I've installed the latest full version of .NET 4.0 and am still getting the error.

When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so are particularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

How do I get past Error 1913 when installing LabVIEW 7 Express

I get this error, yet I can see the file in the exact location the error tells me to locate it in. Apparently LabVIEW 7 does not create the labview.ini file. The file I see present was copied from LabView 6.

Are you trying to install to a mapped network drive? This is not supported so could be the cause. It could also be that you are trying to install on a NT/2000/XP machine in which case you need to have local administrator rights to be able to write to this file.

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately, we are only able to support the RTE for a standard Windows XP Distribution. While I don't know exactly what MicroXP omits to create it's "lite" profile, it is an unofficial modification to the OS which the RTE installer was not designed to work with.

Error encountered after installing ADF Runtime

Hi Everyone!
I am trying to deploy an application developed using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 in Oracle 10g AS version 10.1.2 residing in a different server. I have followed the steps required in deploying to an older version of OAS. I recompiled my applications to use J2SE1.4. I have also downloaded the standalone ADF Runtime Installer so that I can install the ADF components in OAS.
After the installation of the ADF Runtime, my oc4j:home process failed to initialize/startup. When i try to manually start it in the OEM, i received the following errors:
An error was encountered while loading page. Entity not found.
Resolution:

The plugin OC4J did not have any documents associated with the Document Key OC4J_INSTANCE_ID:home;

There are no logfiles as well... When I tried to uninstall the ADF Runtime using the installer, i got the following error:
Uninstall Option is not supported for AS.

If your JDeveloper and Oracle Application Server do not have matching version numbers (for example if one is 10.1.3.0 and the other is 10.1.3.1), the following notes apply:
For ADF applications developed in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 and deployed to Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.0, you need to install the ADF runtime libraries in your application server, using the ADF Installer. You can run the installer from within JDeveloper (select Tools | ADF Runtime installer) or use the standalone version.
Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1 is not supported with JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.

Windows tries to install Labview Run-Time Engine 7.0...

I recently installed an application that installed Labview CVI Runtime engine. Anyway, ever since that time, everytime I start Labview, Windows tries to install Labview Runtime engine 7.0. It asks for a lvruntimeeng.msi file. I tried pointing it to one that I had on my system, but I think it was not version 7.0 because I got a message saying it was invalid. Anyway, I don't know why it's doing this to me, but I can't do anything to stop it, so I'm just trying to give it what it is asking for. I've searched the net for lvruntimeeng.msi files, but everytime I point it to such a file, Windows says it's invalid. I've only found a .exe file for version 7.0. Has anybody ever run across this problem. Or....does anybody have NI Labview Runtime Engine v7.0 in a .msi file?

I don't know why this is happening. The exe you have is from drivers and updates. Download this file and run it. It is an selfextracting archive which will start the setup for the runtime engine. After you have installed the 7.0 runtime engine in this way LV shouldn't ask about it.
The one thing I can imagine isr that the installed application changed a common component, e. g. Data socket, into an older version. A repair installation of your LV may also help you.
