Windows  - error : output module .mov after effects

When exporting a Quicktime movie from After Effects on windows 7, I get the following error ...
After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file "(my main internal drive / my file name).mov". An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-161-153464).
I see a lot of suggestions for limiting the number of processors by using "msconfig" to change the "boot" file. This seems like a poor solution because it affects how all other programs use the processors.
Does anyone have any other help on how to resolve this without reducing processors ?
Thanks, for any help.

RESOLVED
I uninstalled Quicktime Pro. Re-started computer. Re-installed Quicktime Pro. Restarted After Effects.
.mov output works fine now.

I installed the CC trial with an error window saying: Could not create the file '/Users/dranim/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.2/dummy'.  That was the first window.   Heres the second: After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup  I paid for the month subscription of 29.99. It claims it is downloading again?! Am I missing something here? Why is this process so complicated? I need to get this resolved asap and start working.

I originally had Adobe Photoshop Extended, then upgraded to the Production Suite. I ran the Adobe Cleaner, and that uninstalled most Adobe products, including my existing Adobe install, and then I re-installed everything with the same error code. Since CS4 came with CS5, I've installed AE CS4, but would really like to upgrade because I'm new to Creative Suite, and not sure how CS4 integrates with CS5...CS4 After Effects installed perfectly. I do have a 64 bit system, and installing to an OCZ Vertex 2....every other suite installs perfectly, except AE. And I think that is the coolest program in the Suite. I thank you all so much for taking the time to help, I really want to get AECS5 running...I did try to install after doing the recommended items Adobe suggests for Exit Codes 6 and 7, including turning off many startups...
    I'm baffled....

  • H.264 Output Fails in After Effects and AME

I'm having the same problem - H.264 export crashes around the 1:03 mark every time. DNxHD is fine.
Dragging comps to Adobe Media Encoder and trying to render from there doesn't work either.
My CS6 install [last week] is on a brand new Dell Precision T7600 dual eight core machine with Windows 7.
It's ridiculous to say that we shouldn't render H.264 out of After Effects. Sometimes I render 50+ TV ads at at time from composition templates for delivery to a multitude of media outlets - each with slightly different specs.
Even if AME was a workaround, dragging all these comps over would be a crippling waste of time.
This is an Adobe problem and we've all wasted too much time troubleshooting and talking about it. PLEASE FIX.
    Thank you.

What version of After Effects? CS6 with all current updates.
Have you installed the recent updates? Yes.
What operating system? Windows 7 Professional
What kind(s) of source footage? The test composition contains only text created in After Effects. Other test comps have included MTS, MOV, PSD, MP3, WAV, AIF files.
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file "Q:\...\Test.mov". An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)
What were you doing when the problem occurred? Sitting at my workstation with my fingers crossed looking hopelessly at the computer monitors.
Has this ever worked before? Yes. Worked flawlessly in all previous CS releases.
What other software are you running? Other software installed but not running at time of crash: Avid Media Composer 6.5.1, Sorenson Squeeze 8.1, Quicktime 7.5.5 [also didn't work on v7.6.9].
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? Whatever Avid and Sorenson install.
    Tell us about your computer hardware.: Dell T7600, Dual Eight Core XEON (E5-2665, 2.4GHz, 20M, 8 GT/s,Turbo+), 32GB, DDR3 RDIMM Memory, 1600MHz, ECC (8 x 4GB DIMMs), 2GB NVIDIA® Quadro® 4000, DUAL MON, 2DP & 1DVI, [1] 1TB system drive, [1] 12TB G-SPEED eS PRO.
Do you have any third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU)? No.
Are you using OpenGL features in After Effects? Yes.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, RAM preview, or both? RAM previews work fine. Crashes occur while rendering to MOV w/H264 in both AE and AME.
Are you using Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing? Yes. But have tried disabling also.
What is the exact sequence of steps that you are taking? Open AE, create new composition, add some text layers, add some animated effects to the text layers, add comp to Render Queue or AME, select MOV with H264 codec.
    Thanks in advance Ben.

  • Error using Detail-preserving Upscale module in After Effects

I'm wanting to try and use the upscale module to upscale a video from 1080p to 4k, but it keeps crashing. Whenever I try, it'll seem to be trying for a few minutes, but then I get the error message "After Effects can't continue: An output module stopped responding. The file may be damaged or corrupted." But this doesn't make any sense because I know the video (a 30 second clip) plays just fine.

You haven't told us much to help with troubleshooting. We'll need to know EXACT version number of AE (not "CC 2014", but actual 13.2.0.49-style version number), format of clip, codec of clip, and lots more!
FAQ: What information should I provide ?

  • AE CC Render error output module failed

Hi, I tried my best to find this answer on the forums but couldn't find anything current.
I have isolated two issues in AE CC where I can duplicate a failed render with this message:
After Effects error: Rendering error while writing file "xxx". An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)
This happens when opening an AE CS6 project and trying to render a simple comp with only one text layer and a moving mask. It also just happened after my first round trip test with Cinema 4D. I could RAM preview the c4d layer but the output to Quicktime h.264 failed.
I have even tried a full reinstall of AE CC. I have the basic FxFactory Pro plugins and MagicBullet Looks installed, but neither are being used since this is a single 1280x720 comp with a single C4D layer. Plus like I said it failed with the same error in past CS6 files.
I don't know how to force disable a plugin to test that, but I can't see how an unused plugin could cause a render to fail like this.
    I'm on a new (late 2012) 27" iMac
    3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX with 2GB VRAM
    OS X 10.8.4
    AE CC 12.0.0.404
    CUDA driver 5.0.59
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Olaf, did you read my reply where I explained my solution? First you should try the steps outlined in the article Todd references:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2011/02/troubleshooting-quicktime- errors-with-after-effects.html
There seems to be a good way to isolate if it's the same issue I had, though. Let me go into a bit of depth for you.
The trick was to launch the OS X app called Console, located in Applications > Utilities. It is a program that compiles and displays the system logs in real time. It's great to see the little things happening in the system that don't make it into the user interface. When I had my Console up and generated that same error you're having, I noticed this error in the log:
The key here is the Adobe QT32 Server, which is mentioned in the TCP part of the article I linked to above from Todd. In my case at least, what was happening was that a third party app called AirServer was talking to the system's QuickTime over the same TCP ports the QT32 Server engine was trying, and it resulted in Adobe QT32 Server crashing, and that alert being thrown up in AfterEffects.
If you're in the same boat, it means you have some sort of app or system extension that is also talking to QuickTime over TCP. That may not make any sense, but the easy thing to do is quit ALL third party apps, then quit AE, then restart AE.
In my situation if AE gave me the error and then I quit AirServer, the error still happened because Adobe QT32 had already crashed. You have to relaunch AE after closing the offending third party app.
To be sure you've quit all third party apps, open Activity Monitor (Applications > Utilities), chose "My Processes" from the dropdown menu, and scan through the list to make sure. You don't have to recognize all the processes there, but you should be able to recognize any third party ones you put there.
    Hope that helps!

  • I'm getting a gpu manager error code when launching After Effects and Premiere

There are plenty of other forum topics about the same issue that I am having, however none of the solutions have helped me solve the problem.
The error that I get is: After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <5712> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 0

Steps I have tried to troubleshoot include:
    Updating drivers
Making Sure Windows Service Pack 1 is installed
Wiping my computer with a fresh Windows 7 install and re-installing all drivers and windows updates.
Downloading and installing the latest CUDA pack from Nvidia.
No positive results so far. It also seems as though CC is having a hard time installing the programs successfully on my computer. The CC library install fails when I install CC Desktop as well, and it gave me an error saying that it wasn't compatible with other adobe software installed. But there is no other adobe software installed at that point.
    Here are my machine specs:
    HP Zbook 15 Mobile Workstation
    Intel Core i7-4800MQ CPU @ 2,7ghz
    NVidia Quadro K2100m
    Intel HD Graphics 4600
    32GB RAM

Okay, well. I figured this out.
On a hunch, I downloaded Windows Service Pack 1 directly from the site and installed it from it's own installer. This worked. Apparently Windows Updater wasn't installing it properly and this is what was causing the problem.

  • AE Render Error - Output Module Failed

    Hi all,
I have a problem with AE CC.
AE lets me render out (export) one file then after I try to render any more, I get the below message.
To combat this, I reboot AE and it then will let me render out one file, but I have to constantly reboot it to export/render more.
I have creared new project files, emptied my cache, cleaned data base etc, but I still get this message.
The comp's I am rendering out are small - between 1 to 20 seconds a piece and for the most part are only text layers created in AE.
Is this a hardware issue? I have been using AE CC for a week now, it didn't happen for the first couple of days, now this seems to be the norm. I only have CC progrmas open when I work - AE, Premeire, Psd & Bridge. Even when I have only AE open, I get the same message after exporting one comp.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks guys!!!
    Pat

I made a similar post a few days ago but it seems to only be affecting my QuickTime output.
    I still have no resolve.
In my office currently there are 4 new machines all running CC.  My machine is the only one having problems.  The only difference between my machine and the rest is that I selected which adobe apps to download and install while the others installed all the apps.
I am busy doing that now.
    The machines are all identical:
    Adobe CC
    Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit
    Intel i7 - 3770k 3.5Ghz
    16 Gig RAM
    GeForce GTX 660
There are 6 hard drives on the system.
C drive is a solid state drive that i am also using as the cache drive for After Effects.
Sometimes I am able to render the QuickTime files on the 1st render, but after that, error message.
I tried uninstalling AE and reinstalling but that didnt work.
I tried various versions of QuickTime.
I tried all the suggestions in the link, and same as you, it 'fixed' it temporarily.
I will get back to you If I have figured something out.

  • Error 0xc000007b when starting After Effects or Indesign

On my Samsung Laptop (Windows Home Premium 64 bit) I get error 0xc000007b when I try to start After Effects or Indesign. Please advise me.

Your installation has a couple Windows components missing. Usually msvcr100.dll and/ or msvcr80.dll. These are part of Microsoft C/C++ Redistributable runtime libraries. They likely can be downloaded from Microsoft, a repair of your ID installation, going to the Install/Uninstall part of the Control Panel and selecting the Microsoft C/C++ Redistributable runtime libraries icon/text and seeing if it has a repair option, etc.
Worse case is likely uninstalling ID, running the Cleaner Tool for you ID version, and reinstalling.

  • Error 107 in adobe after effects cs6 download

Well I downloaded the free trial of AE CS6 and it said that adobe download assistant had to be installed first so I did. Then Later I had to sign in on adobe download assistant then after that It said
                 "Invalid Product Context"
"Error communicating with Adobe.com (Error 107.) Restart Adobe download assistant and try to add the product again.
I have done that and I have reinstalled the program after uninstalling it. Still it says the same What should I do?

What OS are you installing on? If you're installing on Windows, After Effects needs a 64-bit version. See http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/tech-specs.html
Are you installing on a 64-bit system?

  • Configuration error number 6 for after effects cs5 for mac

Hi.  I just restored my mac os x (it ran out of space).  Before I restored it, I moved all of my important files, and more importantly, my adobe after effects cs5 files and applications.  But now, when I try and start it up, I get a window the pops up and says:
    Configuration Error
Please uninstall and reinstall the product.
If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error: 6
    http://www.adobe.com/support/
So whenever I try and uninstall it by clicking on the application that looks like a red box and says "Uninstall Adobe After Effects CS5.5" and the same message pops up.  I also tried searching through the adobe support articles and help stuff and through the help forums on this website.  None of them had anything to do with Error 6 that was mentioned in the message.

  • CS 5 Premiere Pro cant move after effect source to programm

I made a Premiere Pro Multicam cut
Then I made some light saber effects with after effects.
Now i want to bring this composition back to Premiere.
It is shown in the source screen right.
But if i drack it down or hit the paste key to get it in the movie there is a sign shown that i am not allowed to do this.
This sign only appears when i drag and drop. If I hit paste there is no error code the time line moves but no video ist paste.
The composition has the lenghts of 2 min.
    what could this be ?
    thanks for you help
    best regards

so i can only make the effects on singel video parts not on ready cutted video in general ?
Multicam is a special situation, so other than a multicam sequence the answer is no.  You can nest a sequence inside another one and then replace the entire nested sequence with an AE comp.
I couldn't find a way to make AE recognize Multicam Channels in a Pr Multicam sequence that was dynamically linked.  So I think you have to export the Pr Multicam sequence as an intermediate file, then import that file into an AE comp and add the light saber effects.  Dynamically link the light saber AE comp into your Pr project and export from Pr as desired.

  • Problem with windows and my monitor in after effects

HI . before any thing excuse me for speeking english.
i have a problem with windows in after effect in my monitor
my monitor is 15.6 and resolution is 1366*768
for example when i open interpret footage window i can't see that complete and amount of size window dont visible.
    Thanks.

Your system doesn't meet the requirements and that is that. AE has required 900 pixel height ever since CS4. Other than changing your screen res or shuffling around windows there is nothing you can do.

  • Error when exporting from After Effects into Media Encoder

Hi there. I am using After Effects CC and am trying to export>add to Adobe Media Encoder CC. Upon doing so, instead of the file being placed into Media Encoder CC, I get an error message
I just updated to most recent update of After Effects via the Cloud today but no difference. Instead, After Effects just creates a folder on my system to house a duplicate composition file with "tmpAEtoAMEProject" at the beginning of file name. I can use the render queue out of After Effects just fine.
Can someone give me a solution to how I can export out to Media Encoder CC? Probably something simple I am just missing. I don't know much/can't find much about how to know if Adobe Dynamic Link components are installed. Oh, and I have also tried to just drag the files into Adobe Media Encoder too but I still get this warning. If it helps, I am on an imac OSX 10.8.5. Thanks!

Hey there. Yes, I have uninstalled AE, restarted, and reinstalled. Still get the same error shown in screenshot in my original question posted.
