Windows error when importing Essbase cube into OBIEE

Hi all:
This question is perhaps more relevant to the OBIEE forum, but I put it up there a few days ago and got no response. So now I'm hoping to get some help on this side of BI land!
My issue is that I'm trying to import an Essbase cube (system 11) into BI Admin Tool, but whenver I go to "Import from multidimensional" and hit "OK" after entering in the essbase server name and log/pwd, the BI Admin tool crashes. I get no error msg except for a couple of errors I see in the Windows event log:
1. Faulting application path: C:\OracleBI\server\Bin\AdminTool.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient\bin\essapinu.dll
2. Faulting application path: C:\OracleBI\server\Bin\AdminTool.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
I'm running a standalone OBIEE 10.1.3.4 on my local machine (Windows 7 32-bit) and the Essbase Server is on a separate Windows 2008 machine. I can ping between machines and all ports are open on the Essbase machine, so I don't think this is a network related issue. Also, my OBI RPD is working fine in all other respects. I have other data sources working in there with no trouble. My Essbase server is also working fine. I also tried to do this in a new RPD in case the old one was corrupted, but get the same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Akshay,
You must have the Essbase client installed on the same machine where your OBI Administration Tool is installed. This should get you past the error that you are receiving and should fix your problem. Since you are running 32-bit just download the 32-bit Essbase client from Oracle. You will most likely need to run download the required files to install the Essbase client and with Hyperion 11x you should be familiar with that required software matrix since you have Essbase running on a seperate server already.
But now looking at your post I see that you state that one of the paths in your error is C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient\bin\essapinu.dll. The path C:\Oracle\Middleware is usually seen in Hyperion EPM 11.1.2. So, are you running Essbase 11.1.2 and OBIEE 10g or are you running OBIEE 11g? You'll need to specificy as OBIEE 11g can only interface with Hyperion Essbase 11.1.2 at present. And if I recall correctly the 11.1.2 Essbase client does not work with OBIEE 10g. Please clarify on these points.

Have you set the dimension in your Essbase cube that stores the data facts (Amount Values) as an "Accounts" dimension? If not, do that. You'll need to re-import the whole thing in the BI Administration tool again and then drag it across to the BMM and Presentation layers.

Error when importing SW comps into IR

I have imported the Essbase cube in to the OBIEE physical layer but the attribute dimension and the base dimension are not mapped.
Please let me know how I can map the base dimension and the attribute dimension of Essbase cube in BMM layer.

Apparently it turns out that the Accounts dimension Hierarchy needs to be changed to type 'Value' for the measures to start working.

Error when importing ESS components into PRD

Hi All,
I am importing ESS components into PRD in NWDI environment. One component goes through with status 'Import finished' but other components give status
'Outdated'. I see the error log and it is empty. What does 'Outdated' status mean.

Error when importing music CD into iTunes

I am trying to import an audio CD to iTunes. I have a (newish) macbook air using OSX 10.9.3, so I am using a Samsung Portable DVD Writer (SE-208).
iTunes can play the music file from the cd, but when I try to import a track/cd I get the following error message: "Error occurred while converting the file <song name>. The required disk cannot be found."
I have tried importing in different file formats, but I get the same error message each time. Please help!

Since your error message suggests that iTunes is finding the music to be ripped, I suspect that it isn’t finding the folder the music is supposed to be stored in. Open iTunes preferences and select the Advanced tab. If you store your music on your computer in the iTunes folder you should see: /Volumes/Music/iTunes in the first box labeled iTunes Media Folder Location. If you see something else, or if you store the music on an external drive, click on the Change button and select the folder where you want the ripped files to be placed.

Error when importing UTF8 Files into SOD

I was trying to import a UTF8 csv file into SOD (Lead Object) and I,m running into wierd errors only for some of the records. Mentioned below is the error: "An unexpected error occurred during the import of the following row".
It is basically messing the sequence of columns in the row.
Please advise.

Error when importing songs/effects into GarageBand

Whenever I try to import a song or iLife sound effect into garageband, it comes up with an error reading.
Any ideas?

this may sound silly, since you've done these things, but in order try this
close the GB project first, then quit GB
log out of your account
log back in, and repair permissions again
launch GB, and create another new project
after that, i'm not sure what else to suggest at the moment. i can't quite figure out what directory GB can't find if it's not the project itself, or a general permissions problem.

Gettine error when importing .docx form into LiveCycle

I'm getting an error in LiveCycle Designer 8.21 when I attempt to open a form that a co-worker created as a .docx form with text fields and select boxes.
Every time I get the alert that "Word (version XP or onwards) could not be found on the machine". Because the Office suite is loaded from our servers as shared software, is this causing LiveCycle to error? There really isn't any way to install Office so that the program resides primarily on the hard drive.
Need to figure this out, as more and more people are creating forms in Word and we want to get on top of this and keep them compatible with the LiveCycle forms that we create and manage.
Any ideas?

Error when importing psd files into Premiere Pro

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Photoshop CS4. Whenever I attempt to import a psd file I get this error message: "File format not supported". I have tested it with different file sizes and properties. My files are RGB and 8 bits/channel. Is there any way to resolve this problem? I am also using Adobe After Effects and importing psd files works great with it.

Welcome to the forum.
The RGB and 8-bit take care of two possible causes, so thanks for getting those out of the way early on.
Does the PSD file contain Layers? Are any of them mostly Transparent, with just a few pixels, such as a small logo? Those have created issues.
What is the exact version of CS4, that you are running? Seems that there WAS an issue with PSD's in an earlier version, and that a later update fixed that.
There is another element with PSD's, that has caused issues, but my feeble mind is suddenly blank on what that was about. Seems that Colin Brougham commented on it not that long ago. I'll see if I can drege up one of those threads, but you might aslo want to do a Search on "PrPro" and "PSD," though the forum Search might still be broken. Maybe Google, and also look for replies from Colin. I'll do the same too. IIRC, one had to Open the offending PSD in PS, and just do a Save_As with a short file name, and a short Path (not buried deeply inside a sub-folder structure), and all was good, but do not recall any other details at the moment. I would also eliminate any spaces in the new file name, just to eliminate any issue there - use the _ like in the old DOS days, though do not think that one had to adhere to the old 8.3 structure.

Import a cube in obiee

Hi,
my config:
windows Vista
obiee 10.1.3
sql server 2008
Followed this [blog |http://www.rittmanmead.com/2008/02/01/obiee-hybrid-olap-reporting-using-ms-analysis-services-oracle/] to be able to import analys services 2008 cube in obiee. But when try to import a cube in obiee i get the following message: nqserror 46100: sax parser failed with error expected whitespaces
what i exactly did:
1) download en installed the XML for Analysis SDK
SSI:
1) i created a connection pool --> named it xmla and click ok
2) add a new virtual directory --> alias: xmla , physical path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft XML For Analysis SDK\isapi
3) right click on my virtual directory --> convert to application : set the application pool to the one i just created.
4) double click "handler mapping" --> add script map --> request map = *.dll, excutable msxisapi.dll, name = xmla, do you wat to allow this asapi extension --> i clicked yes
5) authentication --> ananomous is enabled by default
obiee:
import --> analys service 2000 --> url i used http://localhost/xmla/msxisapi.dll
import --> analys service 2005 --> url i used http://localhost/xmla/msxisapi.dll
When trying things out i also set the physical path credentials: username/pass. But still doesn't work...
Hope some can guide me throw a good working obiee import or give me some new ideas.... tnx in advanced....
UPDATE:
I've got the iis working oke now. The error above has to something, that the URl i reference to could not be found. Now when testing IIS I get the xml back in my browser. When trying in in obiee, it gives me the error:
nqserror 64203 XML/A eror returned from the server. Fault code: "XMLAnalysisError.80004005"Fault string "an error occured while processing the request. :

Error when transport/activate cube

Hi Expert,
I face the problem when i tranport cube into BW Production. it displays "Moved value is not within the allowed value range". Then when try to activate manual in BW Prd, it's also the same error.
On Bw delovepment, all it's working fine.

Importing excel file into OBIEE 10.1.3.4

Hi,
I am trying to import excel file into OBIEE and would like to use it as a data source. Fro this, I have already created an excel file (using MS excel 2007) with some sample data and named the data ranges with in the excel sheet as well. and I have placed that file under C:\ drive directly. And then created DSN and made sure that it points to the excel file.
When I go to Administration tool -> Import from Database -> seelct ODBS 3.5 and selected my DSN and clicked OK. Here I have not provided the user name and password (though I have provided the username/pwd as Administrator it is not taking).
when I click ok, it is throwing the following error :
nQSerror:16001 ODBC error state : IM006 code: 0 message: [Microsoft][ODBCDriver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed. [nQSError: 16001]ODBC error state: S1000 code - 5015 message: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] External table is not in the expected format

Hi, I am facing the same issue.
I am using OBIEE 11g with MS Excel 2007 file as source. I have created ODBC Driver by selecting Microsoft excel driver.
NQSAdminTool.log gives error:
ODBC error state: S1000 code: -5015 message: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] External table is not in the expected format
The Admin tool gives error: "Unable to connect database using connection pool", when I try to 'update row count' in Physical Layer.
Any quick resolution to this?

Org.apache.jasper.JasperException; JCO error when Importing SAP Roles in C

I have installed BOXI 3.1 SP3, Integration kit SP2, BW/BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0 on Windows 2008/64bit.
My goal is to import the roles into CMS from SAP BW/BI but getting the follwoing errors:

Install the 32bit version of the Java connector. BOBJ is 32bit so even on 64bit Windows you need the 32bit version of the Java Connector.
