Windows failed to start. Could not load file Windows\System32\winload.exe

My friend tried to recover his laptop by using the recover button u can do from (controlpanel) and systems. It failed and when I try to start his laptop it says the typically Windows failed to start, \Windows\system32\winload.exe. Status:0xc000000f.
If it was my own laptop and if it was a desktop I would just make a clean installation. Delete all partitions and install new windows. But his laptop got these ones........
disk 0 partition 1 200 mb system
disk 0 partition 2 227,7gb all free, primary
disk0 unallocated space 194 gb all free
disk 0 partition 3: lenovo 29gb 8mb free, LOGICAL
disk 0 partition 4:LENOVO_PART 14 gb 3.3free OEM (reserved)
Im afraid he got 2 harddrives a hdd and a sdd for windows. Im not sure and this looks like **bleep** to my eyes.
So if I could prevent deleting all partions and do a normal recovery it would be great.
SO I found this and I dont know if its what I should do. coderforlife
But when I type the things in command it doesnt work.
SO guys what should I do? DOnt wanna destroy his laptop   cause he needs to use it at saturday.
Best regards Niklas
Btw im not sure if the thread is in the right place. Let me know

I hope there is another computer around using the same version of windows 7. You need to create a repair disc. Then you need to run a startup repair.

    Hi Patrick ,
What user did you use to start JSPM? Was it <sid>adm? Also based on the error it seems there is something wrong with DataModel.xml JSPM uses. And you've mentioned it was copied from another system if I get it right.
So as a quick workaround you could try removing:
    - Jspm.DataModel.xml
    - Jspm.J2EE.DataModel.xml
    - Jspm.JSPM.DataModel.xml
from ../j2ee/JSPM/data/variables directory and give JSPM another try.
Please make sure the rest of the XMLs are in place otherwise JSPM won't start.

  • Error starting Queue Viewer: Could not load file or assembly

    Dear All,
I'm having problems with Queue Viewer from my Windows 7 client.
The error has started from the Exchange 2013 SP1 installation on the Exchange Server; from that time, if I open the Queue Viewer from the Toolbox, I receive this error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Transport, Version=15.0.843.0.Culture=neutral, Public............... The system cannot find the file specified.'
Now I'm trying to install the SP1 on my local Windows 7 client, but the prerequisite check fail because it not find the necessary role.
There is a way to fix this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi ,
Please check the below mentioned links as well as check can you able to open the exchange toolbox directly in exchange 2013 sp1 servers.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2938053/en-us
    http://blog.messageconcept.com/en/exsbr-on-exchange-server-2013-sp1/
After you install the exchange 2013 sp1 you need to install the hotfix mentioned on that link .
    Regards
    S.Nithyanandham
    Thanks S.Nithyanandham
    Thanks.
The queue viewer runs correctly on the Exchange Server and we don't use Third-party transport agents.

  • Starting Management Studio, got "Could not load file or assembly 'WindowsBase 4.0.0.0 ...'" error

"Could not load file or assembly 'WindowsBase 4.0.0.0 ...
I get this error when starting Management Studio Express 2012.
I know it is related to Visual Studio 2010 SP1. I ought to try to update VS2010 SP1 with KBxxxx that fix security issues. But one KB2635973 refuses to install (I downloaded the update and run it not via Windows Update). When running the update I get the
same error. The update UI shows that it has been installed. But it was not. When I check Windows Update it would be listed again.
I didn't invite this trouble myself. I was running Windows 8. I was constantly prompted to upgrade to 8.1 but I declined. But one day it just got upgraded anyway without giving any chance to abort the upgrade. Since then I have this "Could not load
    file or assembly" error.
I had tried re-installing SQL server management studio. But the error refuses to go away.
Please help as I have spent a lot of time searching for solution without success. I have been using DOS/Windows since the 1980's and this is the worst experience that I have come across.

Ok I found the cause after browsing through this thread:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14506938/could-not-load-file-or-assembly-windowsbase-version-4-0-0-0
WindowsBase.DLL is missing from this folder on my machine:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\WindowsBase\v4.0_4.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35
I copied the file from another machine into this folder. Now the problem disappears.

P.S. I am using Crystal Reports 2008 and Visual Studio 2008.
    Thank you in advance.

    A couple things here:
Your application is referencing the Windows form dll for the bundled version of Cr that comes with VS.NET 2008 and NOT the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime.  You need to change the references in the project to 12.xxx assuming you have Crystal Reports 2008 SP0 installed (this is needed for it to work with .NET 2008)
You need to make sure you deploy the runtimes for the appropriate version.  If you get your application upgraded to use all of the CR 2008 runtimes you will then need to deploy the runtimes to the machine you are deploying to.  You can do this by using the merge modules or the server install msi to get them on the machine.

  • Workflow Manager - Add-WFHost fails with "Could not load file" error

Hello! I'm not sure that its Sharepoint related topic but..
I'm trying to install Workflow Manager using Powershell. I'm successfully created ServiceBus farm, create namespace, Add-SBhost etc. Also, i created WF Farm using New-WFFarm.
Now i'm got SB Configuration and try to add my first host to WF Farm using standard cmdlets:
    $SBClientConfiguration = Get-SBClientConfiguration -Namespaces 'WorkflowDefaultNamespace'
(it successfuly gives me some endpoint definitions)
    Add-WFHost -WFFarmDBConnectionString $WFFarmDBConStr -RunAsPassword $ServiceAccountPassword -EnableFirewallRules $true -SBClientConfiguration $SBClientConfiguration -CertificateAutoGenerationKey $CertificateAutoGenerationKey
    where
$WFFarmDBConStr is typical connection string, i also used this to Get-WFFarm with no errors.
$ServiceAccountPassword and $CertificateAutoGenerationKey are secure strings.
But trouble appears with SBClientConfiguration, cmdlet returns error:
"Cannot validate argument on parameter 'SBClientConiguration'. Could not load file or assebly 'Microsoft.ServiceBus, Version=1.8.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=<SomeTokenSymbolsHere> or one of its dependencies. The system cannot
    find the file specified."
What file it tries to load? I've installed all WorkflowManager binaries with
webpicmd /Install /Product:WorkflowManagerRefresh key and don't know, what can be cause.

    Hi lehus,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you configured Workflow Manager using PowerShell.
Please try to use the following PowerShell command, compare the result:
    Add-WFHost -WFFarmDBConnectionString $WFFarmDBConStr -RunAsPassword $ServiceAccountPassword -EnableFirewallRules $true -SBClientConfiguration $SBClientConfiguration
    –EnableHttpPort -CertificateAutoGenerationKey $CertificateAutoGenerationKey
    -Verbose
    Check your process as:
    http://lennytech.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/configuring-workflow-manager-1-0-using-powershell/
In addition, whether you could install and configure Workflow Manager with Workflow Manager Configuration Wizard. Please have a try as:
    http://prabathf.blogspot.com/2013/02/installing-and-configuring-workflow-for.html
    I hope this helps.

Note that the dev machine is x64 Win7.
I have not tried deploying this to staging since the issue started as I'm a bit nervous of touching the staging/live environment until this is solved.
Removing the PlatformTarget element from the project file has no effect
Removing the msshrtmi.dll file from the bin directory of the website project ends up with
'Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsFabric.Common, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified'
I have used Git to revert to the last working build to no effect (But I don't have the obj/bin folders in GIT), but it has atleast reset the project files etc.
If I return msshrtmi.dll to the bin folder and switch the model and website projects to x64 there is no change
If I switch both to x86 then I get an error Could not load file or assembly 'BekoModel2011' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
which is the model project - presumably because to run on my x64 machine I need the 64bit version?
I really need to be able to debug and then publish some changes ASAP.
    Andrew

    Hi,
Is it true that you're using IIS to host the application? Could you check whether the process is x64 or x86 one via task manager or config in IIS manager?

  • MSTest Coded UI Test Could not load file or assembly Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UITesting

    Hi,
I have created some Coded UI Tests in a Test Project using Visual Studio Premium 2013 (Version 12.0.30723.00 Update 3).
Those Coded UI tests run just fine when I run them from inside Visual Studio (Go to Test Explorer and hit Run).
However If I try to run them using MSTest.exe or VSTest.Console.exe I am not able to.
When I run the tests using MSTest I get the following error:
    Loading CodedUITests.dll...
    CodedUITests.dll
Unable to load the test container 'CodedUITests.dll' or one of its dependencies.
Error details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly

PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot
    find the file specified.
If I run them using VSTest.Console.exe I get the following error:

I try to find this issue online and was not able to find anyone with a similar problem.I am not sure if there is something corrupted with my VS
instalation that may be causing this problem.
Could someone help me with this?
    Thanks!

PS: This path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies" exists in the machine where I have VS and where I am executing the MSTest command. This path contains all the Microsoft test assemblies, including "Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UITesting.dll"

    Hi Edward
    >> Do you mean that Coded UI tests run fine in VS, but failed with MSTest?
Yes, that is exactly the case!
    >>Before you run with MSTest, have you changed the Coded UI project?
No. In Visual Studio I can run the Coded UITests by going to Text Explorer and click the run button. Without changing anything else, if I try to run them in using mstest or vstest.console I am not able to

No. The project did not change at all

I run the commands in "Developer Command Prompt fro VS2012". the commands are:

The tests are all in the CodedUITests dll. All tests were created inside a test project (called CodedUITests, they run ok if I execute them in VS but the show the abouve error if I run them using the Developer Command Prompt for VS2012).
I didn´t mention this before but I DO NOT have test controller and test agents installed in my PC! I just have Visual Studio installed (not 100% sure if I need the agent to run the UI Tests in the same PC where I have VS installed).
I hope this information may be usefull,
    Best Regards,
    José Brazeta
    PS:
I just try to create a very simple UI Test in another PC where I have Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate (Versio12.0.30723.00 Update 3).
Using VS I created a new Solution with just 1 project (Coded UI Test Project) and recorded a very simple test (on IE and at the google page search for Coded UI Test and hit the search button).
After compiling the Coded UI Test project in VS I can see the test in Test Explorer and If I run the test it all goes ok.
Using the Developer Command Prompt for VS2012 if I navigate the the "Debug" folder of my project none of the following scripts will work:
    mstest /testcontainer:CodedUITestProject1.dll
    vstest.console CodedUITestProject1.dll
I get the same error that I show in the bigining of this post.

    Hi Mubarak,
Please firstly make sure you installed SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SP2 in a Windows Server 2012 R2. Since only SP2 slipstream installations are supported on Windows Server 2012 R2

If .NET Framework 4.5 is already installed, also run aspnet_regiis -i from C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework\v4.0.30319

  • Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91'

I am using .net application built in .net 2.0 using SQL server Express 2005 Replication publication functionality. Application setup is in 32 bit.
Now i am running this .net application setup on Windows-7 [64 bit]. It gets installed successfully with SQL server Express 2005.
But when starting the application getting below error while performing Synchronization of subscription and publication via .net app.  I have checked that Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.dll file is installed in GAC having same version
[Version=9.0.242.0]. It is working fine on 32-bit OS.
    Below is error details.
    TITLE: SETSynchConsole
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

    Hi deshpasu,
According to your description, you install SQL Server Express 2005, and OS is 64bit. If your assembly is running as a 32 bit process and it is unable to load a 64 bit dll, we get a exception , so we need to verify if you install Microsoft SQL Server
2005 Replication Management Objects. These are not installed by default database engine install.
This is 64bit OS so you should install 64bit "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Replication Management Objects" from online feature pack of SQL Server 2005.
If SQL Express x86 setup (with Database Engine, Replication selected at setup) installs Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication and so this load error does not occur on 32bit systems.

  • Could not load file or assembly Oracle.DataAccess

Hi, I have a web project in Visual Studio 2008 for .NET Framework 3.5 using ODP.NET. The app has been working under a 32bit machine with the 10.2 client for a few years. We are moving to new servers which are 64bit and require the 11.2 client. I am trying to get the project built and running on my laptop but it fails at the build. I have a 64bit laptop (Windows 7) and have installed the Oracle 11.2 64 bit client. I have confirmed in the c:\windows\assembly that the Oracle.DataAccess.dll says it is AMD64. However, when I try to build my project it says:
Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.112.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b473f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format
From the many posts I have read this happens when you are mixing 64bit and 32bit but from everything I see, all my stuff is 64bit and it should be ok. I can say I have uninstalled and reinstalled the client a few times but I think it's ok as I can connect to the database through sqlplus ok.
    Any ideas?
    Edited by: user6726317 on Aug 20, 2012 5:27 PM

As has been mentioned, this problem is caused by conflicting 64/32 bit issues where you try to load the wrong type of assembly.
In this case, since the project already was 32 bit I'd recommend you simply install the 32 bit version of ODP.net. This installs alongside the 64 bit one, and will let you run the application in 32 bit mode (which it was designed for). Make sure to change the build settings to x86 in Visual Studio.
edit - For a web project, it'll either debug inside IIS or the Visual Studio development server, depending on how you have it configured in Visual Studio. I believe the development server is 32 bit like VS itself. IIS is 64, but an application pool can be configured to enable 32 bit applications. Either way, I wouldn't try changing the application from 32 bit to 64 bit without a good reason. Just run it as 32 bit with the 32 bit version of ODP.net 11.2.
