Windows Formatted 30 gig ipod needs ipod rip for video downloads

Is this even available anywhere?. I used "ipod rip" when I bought my mac G5 so I would be able to continue adding music to my windows 1.0 formatted 30 gig ipod without having to lose my existing music that I had no way of retrieving since my pc had died. Is there a similar patch that will allow me to transfer movies and tv shows downloaded from itunes onto my ipod?

Need a laptop for video and have no direction...please help!

My name is Bryan Troxell and I just started film school this week. After attending my first editing classes I learned that we would be using Adobe Premiere Pro as our editing program of choice. This opened my options for purchasing a laptop as I had previously narrowed my search to Apple based laptops. Now I have the dilemma of trying to find a portable workstation for video editing that will last me through school and beyond. I am open to windows and apple devices and I have a price range of about $2000 including tax. I live in Washington so really my purchase needs to be around 1800 or lower for me to remain within my budget. The reason I need a laptop as opposed to a desktop is the neccessity for mobility and the ability to edit while at school(which has outdated imac models) and at home. I am looking for maximum mobility and solid battery life. So I am hoping for a 15 inch class with at least 5 hours of battery life. If this is unattainable in my price range then as close to it as possible. I guess I am asking for help because I haven't searched for a computer in almost 3 years now and have no clue what I will need beyond a quad core processor, minimum 8gb of ram, and a 1080p display. I hope that the knowledgeable minds here can point me in the right direction.

From everything I have read online I want a Haswell processor. I did happen to find 4 builds that have caught my attention but I was wondering if you guys might be able to give some input. All 4 are different brands and somewhat similar specs but I might be missing something.

I have never heard of the brand in the 4th model before but with the few hundred dollars in savings I was wondering if it was worth looking at. If you have any input that you can give on these models or have any others to reccommend please let me know. Thank you

Firefox need long time for start, downloads everytime at starting, reset useles, safe mode works

when starting the firefox.exe or the link, firefox need way too long till opening the window, everytime it starts it starts and cancel a download in download manager,
in safe mode it starts normal, with addons disabled it starts normal, disable the addons else do not work reset dont work either

Hello all you Ipod 5g (video) owners. like you, I was extremely exited by the coming out of this Ipod and bought it the first week or even day that it came out in stores. most likely, you had no idea how to get your videos and was extremely frustrated when you got that error from itunes saying "this file cannot be put on to your Ipod because it cannot be played on it" well I have been doing a week of research on forums google and apple.com and have decided to make this guide so all you new 5g Ipod owners will not have to go through the frustration like I did.
*This Method worked great for me and I hope it works great for you as well
First- you need quicktime pro there is no other solution from this that I have found so far, it will be well worth it after you get your first video or even your hundredth on the ipod. it is only 30 dollars too and as well as being able to convert and export your videos to Ipod format it plays your videos great and in full screen with great quality.
-Now you might have already done this and have spent about a day exporting the video to Ipod format finding that after about 15 hours of converting you get a video... with out audio!! that was one of the things that really got me mad. I'm guessing the file you tried to convert was mpg or mpeg 2? well I have a solution for that too! there is a program called virtual-dub http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdub/VirtualDub-1.6.11.zip?use_mirror=c ogent it is freeware and works great. what it does is convert your files to avi with the audio and video, when at avi format, you will be able to export them in quicktime pro to an Ipod format with the audio and video in it. WARNING you will need a MASSIVE HARD DRIVE for this! make sure you have from 2-20gb of space depending on the hard drive, or better yet, have the avi saved to your Ipod hard drive! well.. after you have converted your video to avi format open it in quicktime pro, click on file>Export>save as an mpeg4 file (MUCH FASTER!!)>go to options> click on audio>make the audio settings as pass through as it will sound much better>go to video and change the image size 320 by 240>click ok. it should then start to export the file and take about 30 minutes due to exporting as a mpeg4 file is just much faster than exporting it specifically as the Ipod setting. remember to delete the avi file after you successfully get it exported as an mpeg4 file if you don't want your hard drive to become extremely full. then simply add your file to itunes and drag it to the Ipod video and enjoy! tip if you have alot of files I recommend making some folders like *converted to avi* and *ready to unload to Ipod* it made things alot easier for me.

I finally got it to work! I've tried EVERYTHING. Finally I was able to rip one of my DVDs onto my computer and get it to work on my iPod, following the instructions here:

So I would suggest Videora for converting AVI files, just follow those instructions. For the DVD ripping I used DVD Decrypter, which I think uses VirtualDub as a part of the software. (DVD Decrypter: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/videosoftware/dvd_rippers/dvddecrypter.cfm )
Be careful when choosing the dimensions for your video though! I ripped a widescreen DVD and it looks very weird converted into 320x240 because the original was 560x240. I'm gonna try to make it more proportional.

WIndows XP Mode Virtual PC Graphics Card For Video Games

I have a GeForce GT525M Graphics Card installed on my laptop. I am using Windows XP Virtual PC to let me play Spore as Windows XP is supported by Spore whereas Windows 7 is not. After an hour of searching for what my problem was, I found out that my
XP virtual machine was using a virtual graphics card instead of my physical graphics card which supports what I need to play Spore. I know
that Virtual PC is not built for playing games but I really want to figure how to use my physical graphics card Instead of a virtual one for my benefit and for others benefit.
Any help as to how to use my physical graphics card would be greatly appreciated.

You can't. Virtual PC only presents the virtual video adapter to the
virtual machine and there's not way to change that.
VMWare and VirtualBox both support some enhanced video, but I don't know
if they will do what you need, but I can bet the performance would not be
very good, even if it worked. virtualization just doesn't work well for
any real-time activity, especially games.

Do I need a password for trial download of PE 6?

I just downloaded a trial of PE 6 on a PowerBook G4 with 10.5.6. When opening to install, I get a setup window with my name and asking for a password. Adobe did not email a trial password to me and I did not purchase the software. So, how do I use this trial version? FYI, I have a purchased version of PE 4 installed, but I have not opened it since the trial download of PE 6.

If you do purchase PSE, please don't try to put a serial number into the trial. Adobe says you can do that, but it's not true. You need to remove the trial by running its uninstaller (save the download so you can run the installer again and choose Remove Components), and then install the retail version.

Need compressor/decompressor for music download

I am creating a slide show in Adobe photoshop for the first time. I purchased a song from Amazon, but now adobe tells me that my system lacks the compressor/ decompressor (codec) needed. Do I downlaod that or do I need to convert the music somehow? Buy music from another source?

What format is the audio file in? Even MP3's have various codecs that they could've been encoded in and if your system doesn't have that particular codec, it cannot be decompressed.
If you have Creative Suite (with After Effects), you will have 'Adobe Media Encoder' that you can use to convert your MP3 file into another format/ different codec driven compression and try if that works.

I intend to make Air application for my church that has following function
1/ online capture video through the webcam
2/ editing, such as adding text at the footer
3/ then delivery the final output through vga port to dispaly in the screen

You can always render video in fullscreen mode. See this:

Need new notebook for video editing

I've been shopping for a new notebook for my friend. He will be editing 50 p loaded from his Panasonic HC - X920, using Premier Pro.
It must be a notebook, a desktop is not an option. I've narrowed it down to a particular Asus system here in Northern Thailand. Selection/variety is a bit of an issue here.
It will be used primarily for editing short clips ( 6 - 30 seconds ) used as stock footage. On occasion he does a 1 - 5 minute YouTube video.
I'm aware the following system only has a 5400 RPM drive and that is my main concern. Other than that, will the system have sufficient resources for most jobs (short clips)?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Without swapping out the 1 TB hard drive, would you say editing short clips is doable? Would there be noticable jitter when editing short clips or only when attempting to load and edit many clips at once?
Currently on the Dell with an i-5 processor, we're able to handle single clips in Premier Elements no problem. I'm assuming we could do the same with the new system which has considerably more ram and a better graphics card. But of course I don't want to commit my friend to buying a system which can't then handle 50 p clips.

should fine a tutorial. Remember that when you actually put in
wmode and its value that you need to paste it in there twice (just
