Windows freeze after load-up.

This is just a comment.
I have had this happen twice both after power failures where the system is told to stay shut down. Upon rebooting it seemed that my desktop was frozen, when in actuallity all i needed to do was unplug the usb mouse and replugg it back in to work. Dont know why, just thought id mention it in case someone has a similar problem.

That's interesting. Sometimes the BIOS doesn't recognize the key to enter the BIOS after a reboot. I wonder if they are related.

Hi i have a s5160a hp desktop with vista windows.When i boot it loads a line down to the screen and then it hungs-freeze in a windows logo screen .I try to instal other windows vista or 7 or linux and always is loading setup and then freezes in the windows logo screen orin linux in a screen that says it is need drivers .I tried even from external cdrom player all thrse setups same result.i used other hard disk from other pc and the probelm is same f8 safe mode i used all options.no result. I understand that your computer freezes on startup no matter which operating system you are trying to install. I suspect that you have a hardware issue on your computer and would advise you to review and follow the steps contained within the HP Support document: Testing for Hardware Problems Using Hardware Diagnostic Tools (Windows Vista). As this document was created to test your hardare it should if followed provide you with the required information on what is wrong.

Firexfox freeze after loading an Adobe page.

Firefox freezes after opening the webpage :
helpx.adobe.com/nl/acrobat/kb/quick-fix-install-download-reader.html.
This happens after an attempt to use the smart installer for Adobe Reader 10X
The installer times out and tries to open named page (in Dutch).
FF shows the page bu when i try to scroll down FF freezes completely.
I then must close it via Taskmanager.

If the page works fine in isolation like when clicking the above link from this page, then a probable cause could be security software interference. Adobe usually recommends temporarily disabling security software when installing their products though usually there may not be any issues.
If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. System freeze after loading!

I installed a news program which seems to have totally disable the g4 that I'm using. The problem is when the system load It freezes and I'm not able to do anything except move the mouse cursor. I've tried to delete the directory that I the program was in but am still having the problem. I've decided to reinstall the os but have no idea how to do this as the disk don't seem to load when I put them in , I've not used a mac before and have no idea how to install the os. Can someone give me some help in reinstalling. I can't use the existing os as it freeze about 10 seconds after loading the desktop. I've got two disks one is software install and the other is software restore.

Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
Try booting with Extensions Off. To do that, restart or boot, immediately press the Shift key, keep it held down until you get the Extensions Off message on the Welcome screen. Then release Shift.
If it starts up without freezing, then you have an extensions conflict of some kind. And, if this problem is attributable to the installation of new software, then it is probable that the new software added an extension that is causing the problem.
To resolve that, restart. Immediately hold down the Spacebar, keep it held down. At the point that extensions would normally start to load, Extensions Manager will open. Look in the list for any item associated with the new software - you may find one or more items whose name makes clear it is from that software, but more likely you will need to look at the info in the Package column to find those items (the info in the Package column reflects the software package that installed the item).
Once you find any such item, uncheck it on the left side. Check the full list for those. Then continue the startup. With a bit of luck this should clear the problem.
If you do want to re-install just the OS, you can do so via a Clean Install. This will install a brand new System Folder, rename the old one to Previous System Folder, and little else. It will not remove anything from the hard drive.

You will need to use your Software Install CD to do a Clean Install; the Software Restore CD can not be used for that purpose.

Windows freezes after seconders

After signing in windows will let me browse for30 seconds then it freezes up and only the mouse will move but I can't click on anything. Please help

Did you install new software?
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.

Windows freezes after reinstall on p105-s6102

after reformatting drive and reinstalling XP on my p105-s6102 using the provided disk, Windows freezes at the blue motion line. the reinstall indicated it was successful. it does boot up ok in safe mode. chkdsk seems ok too. any ideas, anyone?

When you restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media and still have a problem, it is not due to software.
If Windows works in Safe Mode, my best guess is that the video has failed, but that it still works using the display driver used in Safe Mode.
If that's the case, it should work when you boot with Enable VGA Mode.

Photoshop CS5 freeze after load (Windows XP)

I've been using Photoshop CS5 for about two months and have been having issues recently. After the application loads, it will freeze when you attempt to work on a file. For instance, I have a multi-layed PSD web layout that is only 2mbs in size. I'll load it from either the desktop or from the recent files list. I can usually start doing something (like start moving an layer or start editing text) but then the application freezes. If I open a file and do nothing and let the program sit, it eventually closes up and rarely throws an error. The Windows application event viewer gives me the following errors when it crashes:
Hanging application Photoshop.exe, version 12.1.0.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
I also found this error, which I imagine will be much more helpful:

I've reinstalled Creative Suite, and each time it was properly updated.

I've gone ahead and done that and I still get the same results. I also moved things out of the Application Data folder one by one to test those files as well. A couple of times I could actually use Photoshop, but when I'd quit, it would stop working when I re-opened it. I checked the Windows Application Event viewer again and found this:
Faulting application photoshop.exe, version 12.1.0.0, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.6010, fault address 0x0004b104.
I'd like to clarify that I am by no means a Windows user, and that I am only running Photoshop on XP for work, so bear with me on that.

Logic pro x freezes after loading project

Hi,
So first off I'm running Logic pro x on my Hackintosh. Basically, sometimes when i open up logic, it will go through the scanning audio units and loading of a project but when it goes to open the main window, i get the spinning wheel. A restart fixes it everytime but im not sure what causes this problem.
Things I have tried so far:
turn off screensaver
never let the computer sleep
clear AU cache
disable failed AU
reinstall logic pro
change darkwake value
disable core audio
If i change inputs on my tv (my tv is my monitor) and come back to my computer input after an extended period of time, logic freezes.
If anyone has any ideas for me please let me know. It's an inconvenience to restart the computer everytime I want to use logic but if there's a fix i'd gladly accept it. I'm 90% sure its a hackintosh problem because this never happens on my macbook pro and im using all the same plugs

When I have an issue with an older LP9 project loading into LPX it's usually because of an older plugin compatibility issue...or missing/moved samples/audio/Sample library files...
So I use the Selective Track Import (STI) feature in LP9/LPX to load each track in individually from the older LP9 project into a new LPX project..until I find the culprit...
Here is a brief tutorial for using it.. This one's for LP9 but it works much the same way in LPX

STI actually has many uses... and is one of the most often overlooked feature in Logic when it comes to merging projects/Re-using tracks from other projects/Project recovery and basic trouble shooting for issues such as the one you are having

The "Downloads Window" freezes after I open a file from it.

Win7 system.
I just upgraded from FF12 to FF14.01.
I discovered that I was able to open only one or two files from the Downloads Window, after which the window would stop working properly. Double-clicking a file did nothing beyond highlighting its entry. Right-clicking and using the contextual menu doesn't open it either. Shutting down and reloading FF doesn't improve the situation. Only rebooting seems to get me anywhere, then only for a file or two.
PS: downgrading to FF 13 didn't help. The folder acts the same way in v-13. It was working fine in v-12 earlier today.

double click the first one to turn off the scanning of files when done.

I'm running microsoft security essentials so i think that's what was causing my freezes. Here's is how i fixed mine.
Here's what i did :
Open microsoft security essentials and go to settings.
Under " Excluded Processes" .. browse for mozilla firefox in your program files and add it to the exclusion. --- click "add" then "save changes".
This somehow solved my problem... hopefully whoever reads this, this will also solve yours.

Premiere Elements 9 window disappears after loading project

Hello all,
I've been having issues with Premiere Elements (9) lately. I have read other threads similar to my problem and followed some of the instructions (deleting the Pref file, for example).
Whenever I open a specific project (that has worked before until recently), the loading progess bar goes from 0-100 and then it stays there. After that, the entire program disappears. It doesn't crash (as it's still in the task bar), but when I click on PrE9, nothing comes up. When I mouse-over the icon on the task bar, it's just the window buttons (minimize, expand, exit).
The reason I started this thread is because none of the problems I found were really similar to mine.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you looked at any possible involvement of the antivirus program in the way of recent updates for it? Recent Windows Updates? Can we assumed that you have not added, subtracted any programs that would coincide with the onset of the issue?
Have you checked to make sure that your video card is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card?
Recently, with Premiere Elements 10 and NVIDIA video card, answers have come from rolling back the driver.
I guess you tried the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file deletion. But, did you try deleting the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists?
Do you have the Premiere Elements 9 installation disc for installations files in case a deactivation, uninstall, run through of ccleaner, reinstall is indicated?
But, let me backup for a moment. Is this issue confined to one previously created project or to all your Premiere Elements projects either new or old?

Add On...Usual...confirm that you have the latest version of QuickTime installed, you are running the program as the 9.0.1 Update, and you are running the program Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges.

1.5.1 freezes after loading Trace file

My tiny trc file loads and views but immediately SQL Developer freezes and I can only kill the app. When I relaunch, it remembers the file that was last open, loads it, and proceeds to freeze again. The only way out of this loop is to rename the trc file before relaunch. Am I the only one?

I was able to load a 150K trace file without SQL Developer 1.5.1 (JDK 1.6.0_04) freezing. However, the data displayed in the list view is considerably different to a tkprof file generated from the same trace file, but that I will put in a different thread.

Adobe Photoshop window disappers after loading up.

Just bought the Creative Cloud photography package and installed Photoshop.
When ran it loads up past the splash screen then promptly vanishes.
This on windows 7

reset your preferences by holding down shift-ctrl-alt while starting ps. if done correctly you'll see a confirmation dialog.
if that fails to solve the problem, CC Applications crash immediately after launch

Window freezes when loading

Hi I have a window which loads fine most of the times(on a button click), but sometimes it just freezes and i get the follwing messages in the dos prompt . Does anyone know why? Thanks.

HTML5 videos freeze after loaded, audio keeps playing

This started happening some months ago in my old laptop and it also occurs now in the new one. A lot of times, when I play an HTML5 video (not just in YouTube, it also happens in Streamcloud for example), after it's fully loaded and I start playing it, it will stop (on YouTube the "loading" animation appears), and the audio will keep playing. The only thing I can do is mute it and reload the page. Whenever it happens, it usually happens again after a while, and it's really frustrating to have to reload a few times after it's loaded to be able to watch a 1 hour video.
My laptop has two video cards, an Intel HD integrated one and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce. It doesn't matter which one I use or if I turn hardware acceleration on or off, the issue persists.
What can I do?

Check that all of your software is up to date.
Also, post the web address where you are having problems.

Quicktime web videos freeze after loading - Suggestions?

Hi, just recently today I have been experiencing a strange thing when watching any quicktime video online. It will load the video completely and then as soon as its loaded my OS freezes for about 10 seconds, then unfreezes for a second, and continues until I can navigate my mouse to the X and click it. It also happens when I launch the quicktime player and try to watch something like the movie trailers and such. I was running the previous version of quicktime when the error started occuring about 2 hours ago. I upgraded to the latest and it still does it. Also, with the old Quicktime installed I got an error and I think it said something like Buffer underrun error or something to that effect, It would happen whenever I tried to load a video through the quicktime client instead of the web. Then the pc locks up and stutters really bad and I have no idea what to do about it... Any suggestions?

While in Quicktime, click "Edit" > Preferences > Quicktime Preferences. Then click the "Streaming" tab and make an adjustment at the bottom in the "Instant-On" area so there's more of a delay.
