Windows freezing during boot, after vga drivers installation

System freezes during the boot process,as soon as i install nvidia drivers.i ve tried eliminating the problem with several ways, but nothing seems to solve it.different windows version, different drivers version, different cpus, different memories, nothing attached on the board except the hdd and ram, different psu, manually installing drivers, stopping nvidia services, different vgas(9600gt,9800gt,gts240/250)although it works with pov 9300gs or 8600gt 512.additionally,system boots up normally in safe mode.is there anything you can possibly propose?
thanks in advance.

I have two of them. Both have the same problem get an AMD graphic card. Trust me i know what i'm talking about. I tried every possible solution out there nothing worked. I emailed msi technical support they just send me latest bios and latest drivers nothing. I tried to update vga bios nothing. I tried tree different psu all from different vendors guess what nothing. I changed my memory modules nothing. I changed cpu nothing. I tried every bios available nothing.

  • Freeze during boot after enabling Hyper-V feature in Windows 8

    Good day.
I'm using AMD FX 8320 with 990FXA-GD65. After enabling hyper-v my pc freezing during boot.  Google told me that it might be issue with USB 3.0 controller, so i disabled it in bios, but result still the same.
Can you please tell me where should i look at?

    Hi,
Please try to boot into WinRE and run the Startup Repair option.
Generally speaking, when you add feature like Hyper-V, system would take a long time to get this feature configured. if your computer still stay updates configuration steps, you can use Windows 8.1 installation image to repair system. In system repair mode,
you can access into Command Prompt mode, and check CBS.log under C:\Windows\logs\CBS.
This log file would record Windows installation process, we may find the problem of Hyper-V installation.

  • X79A-GD45 windows 7 freezes during boot after bios upgrade/usb 3.0 drivers inst.

    Hello,
After I upgraded my bios from 1.3 to 1.4 I noticed I still had some not properly installed hardware in the computer management screen, so I used live update 5 and found the the Renesas USB3.0 Drivers. The system runs fine, except from a cold start.
When starting the machine, windows freezes on the 4 colour logo, before the usb initializes (this I can tell from the keyboard not lighting up).
A forced reboot does not help. However, going in the bios (to check if all drives are functional) and then booting, does. After this the machine runs fine again.
Now my question is, is this caused by the new bios or by the Renesas USB3.0 Drivers? Or is it something completely different?
    Thanks a lot,
    Floris

Using LU5 often ends up this way doing UEFI/BIOS updates dead board!
In the future, recommend to use the forum flasher found here with instructions on how to use it; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108079.0
After a flash, it is also recommended to remove the power cord from the PSU, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS & reset.

  • HP Pavillion p6240f freezes during boot up - Not enough space in Runtime area!!

    Hello,
My HP Pavillion p6240f desktop freezes during boot up.  After POSTing and listig the USB connections, it displays the following on the bottom of the screen:
Not enough space in Runtime area!! SMBIOS data will not be available. Press F1 to resume.
I went into setup, and this is the BIOS data:
AMI BIOS revision 5.16  BIOS Date: 01/13/2010
    Core Version 08.00.15
Can anyone help me?  I have found no solutions after heavily searching the internet, and it is important that this computer have unattended reboot after a power outage.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Try clearing the CMOS.
If the above doesn't work then remove two of the four dimms (every odd dimm) and then again clear the CMOS. If this should work then power down and reinstalled the two dimms and again clear the CMOS and reboot.
If the above doesn't work then you might have to visit the local PC repair shop.
If you can get unattended boot after power outage to work then there is a bios setting that needs to be changed. Boot into the bios and look under the power drop down. The after AC power failure needs to be set to AUTO (restart). Be sure to save the settings.

  • HT5628 After running bootcamp, DVD drive is detected by Windows 8. But after installing drivers, no longer can detect. Device Manager shows that DVD drive is unplugged! Drivers in Bootcamp "removed" the DVD drive!

After running bootcamp, DVD drive is detected by Windows 8. But after installing drivers, no longer can detect. Device Manager shows that DVD drive is unplugged! Drivers in Bootcamp “removed” the DVD drive. I think there is an issue because I reinstalled Windows 8. If I don't install driver, then I have reduced functionality (no Apple keyboard, no sound etc), but once I install driver, I lose my DVD drive.

Hi, guys, I have had the exact same problem since the summer of 2010. Here's what I was able to find out.
Deleting upper/lower filters, running all those Fix Ya programs and other Microsoft crap is useless. This problem is most certainly has nothing to do with registry of any software on your computer. I took my HP 9620us to a couple of repair places and, they tried a lot of things and it appears that the root of this problem is a faulty motherboard connection. Of course, it costs about 400 bucks to fix it so I'm not sure I want to pay this kind of money.
Anyway, if somebody was able to fix it PLEASE post here to let us know. Again I am 99 per cent sure it's some piece of hardware in the motherboard.

i Created a New User Account but the same problem happened, also Removed iTunes Plug-ins, checked the Conflicting Processes and Disconnected the computer from the Internet whilst installation but still the same thing keep happening.
i though it maybe because i had old slow RAM so i upgraded to 2GB RAM but still the same problem. i havent updated/backed up my phone for two month and the phone now is being funny too

Ditto for me. BootCamp fails to install XP Home SP2. I have a legal full version bought from Best Buy. Partition is created fine, but get this error when Windows is being loaded: SESSION3INITIALIZATIONFAILED.
I have no clue what to do, other than purchase Vista Home Edition and give it a go.

  • Boot Camp Windows 7 Black Screen After Graphic Driver Installation

    Hi,
I have MacBook air (2012 model i think). I tried to install windows 7 64 bit using bootcamp. On the first windows boot and before installing boot camp drivers windows was fine. After installing bootcamp drivers and windows restart the windows came up to a black screen and stuck forever. When I uninstall graphic driver (intel HD 4000), windows is good again. Tried to reinstall different graphic drivers versions - didn't work. searched internet everywhere and didn't find any solution.
    please help!

I have solved this issue now but seem to have encountered another one. I solved the above issue simply by keep on trying time and time again, partitioning the hard drive and trying to install windows 7.
Anyway, I have encountered this error: windows setup could not apply the configuration set. The WINDOWS folder cannot be found.
    Please help!

  • DL380 G6 timeouts during boot after installation of solaris 5/09

Timeouts during boot is mentioned in the release notes. I can use workaround 4. But workaround 5 does not work.
Has anyone else seen this? The problem only applies when the DL380 G6 is running ufs root filesystem. It works fine using zfs root filesystem.

    Hi.
Check that disk was detected at BIOS.
In case disk not detected - it's hardware problem. Check and reinstall REM.
In case disk was detected - it's look like problem with dirver.

  • Windows Freezes 5 seconds after startup about 70% of the time

To start, I formatted my machine, installed Leopard, ran Boot Camp to set up a Windows partition, used a SP2 Windows XP CD, and started the Boot Camp process fine. Everything was good the first couple of days. Then however I very frequently found that when I start up windows, occassionally the mouse and keyboard would cease to be responsive and I'd be forced to hold the power button to reboot. I've noticed this happens at exactly the same time the brightness goes down 1 level so my best guess is whatever Boot Camp process is being started up is what's causing this.
Typically what happens is I'm in OSX, I click the Reboot option, hold down the Option key when I see the gray screen, then select Windows. Once I get a mouse cursor, I start moving it in circles and wait about 5 seconds after the desktop has loaded. If the mouse freezes, I reboot and try again. If it doesn't, I figure I'm good to go and continue using my machine.
Sometimes also around the same time instead of freezing it just immediately reboots the machine.
This problem is occuring way more than half of the time. Luckily it's only at startup and if I just keep trying until it works, then I can continue to use Windows without any problems.
I own a full version of Parallels and this problem has never occured when I start up my Boot Camp partition with that. I feel like that gives a reasonable amount of confidence to the difference in the Boot Camp service/drivers.
    What can I do?

    * Here is how I partially solve this annoying problem:
In activity monitor, one can clearly saw that Paralells 3 is jumping from one core to another (why is so, I do not know - perhaps they wanted to make similar thermal load on both cores).
Confirmation in syslog: an 19 07:06:29 aeroflot kernel[0]: [Parallels] IPI stat: rescheduled 1 cpus out of 2.
Removing vmmain.kext from kernel does not solving anything because Paralells requires this kext to be loaded in order to work!
    1. Disable one core if you have dual CPU. This will resolve "core jumping" problem. The system will work with reduced performance, but since Paralells is still unable to use multiple cores, it might be less painful.
    2. Try to avoid automatic loading of vmmain.kext during system startup when you boot both cores, or better, you can load vmmain manually when you want to work with Parallels 3.

  • MDD DP G4 elusive diagnosis - freezes during boot up.  Tired- HELP!

After not using my Dual Bootable  DP 1.25 GHz MDD G4 for a couple of months, it's now freezing during the boot process.
What's weird is that it boots in Target Mode just fine, and when connected in this mode to my G5 Quad, it actually boots the G5 Quad in Target Mode just fine!    The G4 drive shows in fact as the boot drive on the G5 Quad's monitors.
I was able to boot off a retail Tiger 10.4.6 disk, so I did an erase and install of a fresh Tiger OS 10.4.6, which I promptly updated to 10.4.11.  After trying and failing umpteen times to boot off the HD, even in safe mode, I ended up being utterly unable to get either of the Super Drives to open normally, so I had to resort to the straightened paper clip trick to retrieve the install DVD.
Now even the paper clip fails to open either of the optical drives.
I have twice wiped the HD from the G5 Quad after booting up in Target Mode, and installed fresh copies of Tiger 10.4.11 as described, with the Tiger install DVD in the SuperDrive of the G5 Quad.
Since in Target Mode the G5 Quad boots just fine of the G4 HD, I think I can rule out the Hard Drive.
I think I can rule out the battery too, as it boots fine in Target Mode and in the regular boot process it sometimes gets as far as playing the OS fresh install music after going through the registration process.
I do have the original install disks with AHT 2.0.2 that came with the G4, but I can't get the optical drives open to insert the disk in either one of them.
I'm thinking it could be bad RAM, but why would the optical drives be stuck, both of them??!
I'd be most grateful for any tips as to what to try next.

Jump all hard drives Cable Select and place the intended Master on the end connector of each IDE ribbon (each bus).
Can you clarify, please?  Are you referencing the actual CPU?
Yes. A very fine layer of corrosion on one or more of the 300 pins could render the machine incapable of achieving logic.
The step should be performed after doing all the other reseats that I suggested.
    I've never re-seated one,
    Not so difficult.
Replacement of the thermal compound is a requisite part of the proceedure, however.
    Use Arctic Cooling MX-4.
No worries if a bit too much is applied, unlike silver based compounds....... bzzzZZTT! Dead CPU.
    My tutorial:
    9AE7FE0E-0CF2-4A7C-8003-489B282582BC.html
I posted this for someone who wanted to remove a MDD logic board (edited for clarity, I hope):
To remove the logic board (of a MDD):
-Disconnect all cables connected to the logic board.
-Remove any PCI cards, and RAM.
-Find and remove the five screws that hold the heatsink. Remove the heatsink.
-Remove the processor board by lifting the edges of the daughter card. After successfully pulling the card free from the connector, it might help to slide the processor board a bit to the rear and/while lifting out, being careful to clear the two mounting pegs.
-Find and remove the one screw that holds the logic board.
-Slide the logic board away from the back panel, lifting to avoid the chassis hooks.
You need to pay attention to the three steps in bold. There is no screw retaining the CPU daughter card. It is sandwiched between the heatsink and the logic board socket.

  • Freeze during startup after SW update from 10.4 - 10.4.8

After updating to 10.4.8, my machine would freeze during startup (at the gray screen with the apple and spinner) and give me the "Please restart your computer" message in a few languages.
I thought it might be a RAM issue, so I removed all third party RAM - same problem.
I replaced all of the RAM with RAM from another G5 that I know worked - same problem
I moved the HD from my G5 to another G5 that was working - same problem (I believe that eliminates the motherboard and any other components from being the problem).
I thought that the HD might be bad, so I replaced it with a brand new SATA drive, installed 10.4 and it worked perfectly, ran all of the SW updates (including the combined 10.4.8 update) and I get the same freezing again when I reboot.
    Any suggestions are appriciated!

    Hi Joe,
Welcome to the only place where you can get friendly advice.
Ok have you tried starting up from the installer / restore CD that came with the mac and run disk utility??
Try hardware test doing the extended test in a loop to try and find the base of the Kernel panic (thats what the "you need to restart your computer" image indicates)
For info and guidance on Kernel panics see:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106227
    and trouble shooting info:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25392
for extensive advice on solving the kernel panics see:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html
Worst case senario it could be the G5 processors, make sure you have applecare; just in case it gets expensive!!

  • MacBook 2010 (white) freezing during boot up with 4 Gb RAM

I have a 13" MacBook 2009 (white) with 4 GB RAM installed by Apple. I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard without a hitch. However, when I upgraded to LION, the computer initially started to freeze sporadically during regular usage then simply froze just before the login screen every time it was rebooted. I took it in to the Apple Store and th Genius staff kept it for 2 days. They tested the RAM. Turns out that the MacBook only recognizes 2 GB of RAM now. Doesn't matter which 2 GB stick I put in which slot, it freezes on boot up. The computer boots up fine with either 2 GB stick in either slot. I would obviously prefer to have the computer run with all 4 GB. I have tried all the steps identified in the article "Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup" http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2570 to no avail, including the last step, "Perform an Erase and Install installation of Mac OS X as a last resort." I have searched through the Communities and tried all the suggested fixes. Nada. I have also upgraded to 10.7.3 which came out last week and retried all the steps. Again, nothing. Has anyone had a similar problem and, more importantly, found a fix? FYI, the computer is no longer on Apple Care and so replacing the motherboard is not an option. Thanks!
