  • Transferring pictures from windows gallery to photoshop cs 5 how's it done

    How do you do it?

    Windows Gallery works just like windows Explorer it only points to the pictures folder. It is not a database. So the files do not need to be transfered at all. Just navigate photoshop or any other CS5 program to the pictures folder and work your way through the child folders.

    I have a HP C4795 and I can not get it to print in color from windows gallery. What can I do? I've look at the settings and it's on color but it will not print on regular or photo paper in color. I can print picture off the internet in color. HELP!
    This question was solved.

    I would guess that the printer preferences in Windows Gallery are set for either grayscale or black only. If it prints color from everywhere else, then it lies within Windows Gallery.

  • How can you set Thunderbird to accept multiple attachments, particularly when selecting "email" in Windows Gallery with T'bird selected as default email

    Using Windows Gallery to send email photos - wioth each selection T'Bird opens a new email form. How can I set T'Bird to accept multiple attachments (similar to Gmail ).
    Using W'Gallery has the benefit of rteducing size of emailed pic to a few hundre kb.
    Thanks

    You best ask the windows gallery people. Thunderbird opening more than one window is based on yhow the request is made, not on Thunderbird,
    Selecting multiple files in explorer simply adds them to a mail, therefore the Windows gallery is the problem.

  • Windows.old Folders ... Have You Ever Had A Use For Them?

    That you know of. What if the old OS has a virus in it?
    As I've said earlier - nuke it just to be safe.

    Has anyone ever needed the Windows.old folders created when an OS is re-loaded or a different OS is loaded on a machine containing an existing OS?
    Deleting them can free up Gigs of space and I do it when I have had to re-load an OS or have upgraded an existing OS.
    Now, for a secondary question.  I have a machine that has this Windows.old folder that I cannot delete.  I have tried while logging into the machine as the Domain Admin and again as the machine local Admin. Each time I am being told I don't have the sufficient permissions to delete the folder.  I have never had this issue happen before.  The Windows.old folder is on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine.  Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

  • How do i clean windows temporary folders?

    I want to speed up my computer. therefore I need to clean windows temporary folders,user temporary folders,cache. But how can i do it?

    Hello J.
    This is not the best place to ask for this kind of help. You'll be better off looking for support at Microsoft's side.
    Still, I recommend you a very handy and easy to use program called CCleaner (short for Crap Cleaner):
    www.piriform.com/ccleaner
    It will help you clean your computer in a few steps. And since it's very easy to use, you can do it frequently and consistently. It also provides an easier way to uninstall programs from your computer, since Windows' helper isn't really that good. Be careful, however, that you instruct CCleaner to clean what you want and not to clean what you don't want to clean (for example browser cache or browsing history, which people usually like to have).
    I hope this helps. But as I said, this is not the best place to look for help on that subject.

  • ITunes 7.1 on Windows XPSP2 - windows "artist" folders

    Since installing 7.1 it seems to create 'artist' folders in the iTunes music folder based on 'album artist', not 'artist' - I have mainly classical music and always set the 'artist' tag to the composer and the 'album artist' to the performers because I want to see my music (and windows folders) grouped by composer.
    Anyone know how I can get it to create windows folders by 'artist', the way it did at 7.0?

    From f00fighter in another forum (worked for me - and I don't "use" Bonjour either, but its there):
    Looks like this issue is due to an incompatibility between Bonjour for Windows and iTunes 7.1.0.59 for Windows (thanks toonz!)
    To workaround the issue you can stop the Bonjour Service by going to Start \ Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ Services, then highlight the Bonjour Service and stop it. You might also want to set the Startup status of the Bonjour Service to Manual (or Disabled) to prevent the service from starting automatically the next time you restart you PC.
    Note - this is only a temporary fix, and turns off the Bonjour service...so don't do this if you have other applications that rely on the Bonjour Service. A fix from Apple is needed to truly "fix" this issue.

  • MS Windows "Custom Folders" appears as Read Only in Mac

    Hi,
    I'm new to Mac, and started copying my old PC data to an external drive, so I could access it in my MacBook, before reformating my PC.
    I copied a lot of folders (around 100 Gb) and noted that some folders are "read only" in that external drive. I remembered my unix time checking for chmod/chwon attributes, but I didn't see anything different from read/write folders. I could note just one thing. This "read only folders" are folder that, in my PC, had "Custom Icons", or "Custom images" attached to it.
    I tried a lot of chmod/chwon combinations, but Terminal always said I have no right (or something like that, I don't remember now), so I gave up and copied from "Shared Folders", FTP or "one by one", and now it appears to be Ok.
    Does anyone already saw this issue? If yes, is there a way to "force" that folder to be read/write? I tried using Finder to Find folder/files that were readonly (so I could identify each one), but I din't find the option. Anyone knows how?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    The external drive is already formated in FAT32. Only my old PC is formated with NTFS, and the problem itself is while accessing theses files/folder in the external drive, not the PC (I'm not accessing the PC directly).
    FAT32 file system can't handle unix permissions and any file on such a drive will be listed as having full read+write access for everyone. However, if a file is read only in windows, it will be locked in OS X and there is absolutely no way to unlock it from OS X side short of reformatting the drive. You need to log into windows and unlock or delte the file from there.

  • Cant edit photo on windows gallery

    HI
    I have recently had an issue where I cannot edit my pictures on my windows photo gallery just recently I tried to rotate my pictures and I received an error message saying that the task could not be done because the image may be in use or open in another program or is a read only file and it it only on pictures that I have backed in the last month not sure if the iphone is the one corrupting my files and if so how can i fix it?

    Hi Loc..
    I share my music over 3 Macs..with 4 accounts on each, one for each member of the family..as long as all the itunes are open and they are all set to 'sharing' then everybody can see and play any music on any account on any mac, it shows up as 'shared music' in you itunes sidebar. If my son downloads or imports an album or a cd into his itunes then anyone can play it.
    I've tried to keep all the music on the 20" dualcore which frees up memory on the G5 and ibook...it seams to work quite well.
    Did a similar thing with iphoto and that works ok, only problem I have had with both setups is Leopards glitchy networking but i'm hoping that will settle down in time, it's still a bit new, I should have waited till 10.5.3 at least...but christmas got in the way..
    Hope this helps

  • File Dialog can return incorrect path when selecting Windows special folders

    I found an interesting bug when writing an application today. Basically the File Dialog express VI can return the wrong path if selecting special folders in some circumstances. This bug seems especially tough to track down, but I think I managed to figure it out. Steps to reproduce using LabVIEW 8.6.1 on Windows XP:
    Use LabVIEW's File > Open... command to open any VI that is not located directly on your desktop. You MUST use the File > Open... command as this will set the working directory for the dialog box.
    Close the VI (all we cared about was ensuring the working directory was set).
    Create a new VI.
    Place the File Dialog express VI onto the diagram (Programming > File I/O > Advanced File Functions > File Dialog).
    Configure the express VI to select a folder and an existing item, leave the selection enabled to limit to a single item.
    Create an indicator to show the returned path from the dialog.
    Run the VI. Navigate to either your Desktop via the large button on the left, or the pull down menu up top.
    Click the "Current Folder" button.
    Observe how the VI returns whatever the original location of the dialog box was, not the desktop directory.
    I have not confirmed this bug on other operating systems but following the steps above reproduces it on my system.

    This is a very unusual problem you are having.  I tried it on another PC in the office and it did not show the problem you are experiencing.  Are you able to replicate this every time, or only occasionally?  Are you able to see this on other computers?  Do you see this same problem using other software on the computer?  Do you have the most recent updates from Microsoft?  Perhaps the answer to these questions can help shed some light on the problem at hand.

  • Windows Gallery error 0x8007000b - restoring libraries does not fix

    I suddenly started receiving this error and photo gallery won't open.  Deleting the folder and restoring to default worked the first few times, but now that doesn't work.  Oddly if I sign in under the other account on the computer photo gallery
    will work, but I do not have access to my pictures.  I've deleted the other account and made mine administrator and ran the online microsoft fix yet nothing is working.  How can I fix this?  I'm incredibly frustrated by windows 8 so far...

    Hi lynnz09,
    Did we update to Windows 8.1 ?
    Please take a check with the below thread and see if the steps worked in your scenario:
    Error 0x8007000b in Windows
    If we updated to Windows 8.1 we need t oright click the navigation pane, select show libaries in Windows explorer.
    Further, if the above won't work, please consider to do a system restore.

  • My finder stopped working and can't open windows or folders

    Help!  I believe it might have been because I have attempted to upgrade my OS and failed. After the reboot, all the icons of folders on the desktop did not get displayed (but the names can be seen) and no operation relating to opening a Window or folder works.  So I can't get to any files, except those that are already on the desktop.  Any suggestions on how to fix the problem or who to turn to?  Oh yes, the OS is slow also, the wheel of death comes out very often now. Other then these two issues, applications (which I can access through the Dock or Spot Light) seem to work fine.  I am in Shanghai, China.  Thanks in advance.

    It sounds like the issue is not with the email, but with the iOS software and more specifically the firmware.  Try to save whatever files and documents you can.  Sync the files with iTunes or make certain they are copied to iCloud.  Then perform a DFU and restore the iPhone as new.
    Read each of the steps before initiating the DFU.
    !.  Connect the iPhone to any computer running a fully updated version of iTunes.
    2. Press and hold both "home" and "sleep/wake" buttons
    3. After eight seconds let go of only the sleep/wake button.
    4. Keep holding the home button until you see a popup mesage in iTunes.
    5. Read all all the popups, then use iTunes to update the iPhone's software.
    If the popup fails to show, repeat steps 2 through 4

  • Permissions problem with old Windows XP folders & files

    Hi,
    I migrated about 8.7 gig of files (21,742) from a set of folders on a Windows machine some time ago. I know keep them on my iMac HD and access them through VMWare Windows XP instances and shared folders.
    I want to copy the entire folder to an external drive for taking to client sites, use on windows laptops etc.
    However, there are long standing file permission errors within the folder structures that raise the following error during a copy.
    "The operation cant be completed because you don't have the permission to access some of the items".
    I have tried setting the permissions on the top level folder, setting the bit to "apply to enclosed items". I have run disk repair, permissions repair & I have used Disk Warrior to do the same. I have removed as many of the dodgy Windows style files that are unrecognisable (eg. .LNK files) but no joy.
    I tried running a SUDO CHOWN command recommended in another post, but it didn't work.
    Does anyone know what might be at the root of the problem. I need an automate solution to this as there are too many folders & files to deal with individually and if I start chucking things out Murphy's law says I will need the ones I ditch.
    Thanks
    Eric

    Download a program called BatChmod and use it to change all of the permissions. It works better than the Finder at fixing permissions on a deep folder hierarchy.
    Chown only changes the owner of the files. It doesn't change the posix permissions.
    Chmod is the command that changes the posix permissions. You can use BatChmod to do it in a GUI, or use this in Terminalsudo chmod -R u=rwx, go=rx after copying this to the Terminal, drag your folder to the Terminal window and hit return.

  • Can New Java 7 File API Path Objs Be Used For Windows Virtual Folders

    Hello,
    I'm trying to duplicate a JFileChooser's drop-down list containing root directories of the file system. For Windows machines, its combobox lists the roots in a nice tree-like layout. For example:
    + Desktop
      + Computer
        + Local Disk (C:)
        + Data (D:)I cannot find an offical way to do this; I ended up using a class called "ShellFolder" to do it. Based on the "File" objects returned by the "ShellFolder" operation, I wanted to use the "toPath" method of the "java.io.File" object to convert the object to a "java.io.file.Path" object. Unfortunately, when I try to convert it, a java.nio.file.InvalidPathException" occurs.
    Therefore, is there a way to use the the new Path object (provided by Java7's new File NIO APIs) that can map to Windows special virtual folders (like "My Computer" which is mapped to a CLSID like "::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}")?
    Note: It looks like NetBeans suffered from the same problem. See their bug report here: [https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=214011] .
    Here's some sample code to reproduce the problem:
    static public void main(final String[] asArguments)
         javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
              @Override
              public void run()
                   java.io.File homeFile = FileSystemView.getFileSystemView().getHomeDirectory();
                   System.out.printf("File obj for home dir = %s\r\n", homeFile.getAbsolutePath());
                   java.nio.file.Path homePath = homeFile.toPath();
                   System.out.printf("Path obj for home dir = %s\r\n", homePath.toString());
                   // get the root directories
                   java.io.File[] rootDirs = (java.io.File[]) sun.awt.shell.ShellFolder.get("fileChooserComboBoxFolders");
                   for (int nIdx = 0; nIdx < rootDirs.length; nIdx++) {
                        java.io.File nextRoot = rootDirs[nIdx];
                        System.out.printf("File obj for next root dir = %s\r\n", nextRoot.getAbsolutePath());
                        // Is this a bug?
                        //          When we encounter a special Windows folder,
                        //          like "My Computer" which has a filename of "::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}",
                        //          why do we receive a "java.nio.file.InvalidPathException"?  Should it not resolve the path
                        //          to the virtual Windows folder of "My Computer", just like the java.io.File objects do?
                        //          If not, is there an alternative way to get that information using the new Java 7 File APIs?
                        java.nio.file.Path nextRootPath = nextRoot.toPath();
                        System.out.printf("Path obj for next root dir = %s\r\n", nextRootPath.toString());
                   } // for
              } // run
    } // mainEdited by: RhinoGuy on Aug 10, 2012 11:11 AM

    Hmm don't know about special folders but the File object does have a listRoots() method. Perhaps that only returns mapped drives on Windows though, I remember using it to create my own Eclipse type filechooser which I find a lot more user-friendly than the standard JFileChooser.
