Windows Games compatability with OSX

I am curious if there is any way to operate these new computer cames coming out tagged Vista and XP compatible on my Macbook? Do i need to dual run windows with OSX or can I just install and go?

can I just install and go?
No. Windows software and games do not run on Mac OS.
You'll need this: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/
If it doesn't work the you'll need to install Windows.

Has anyone found an app that will check the programs on my computer running Snow Leopard for compatibility with osx lion?  Thanks
    Ken

No app needed, just go into your Utlities folder and click on System Information (it could go by another name). Click on Software and then Applications. Wait a minute for it to load and then check for anything that says "PowerPC" instead of Universal or Intel. PowerPC software will not work in Lion. With my 100+ apps, none of them were PowerPC.
Note: You may have to resize the System Information window to see the operating information.

  • Windows 10 Compatibility with HP Envy

Hi,  I was trying to reserve the free Windows 10 copy, but the Get Windows app have not show up.I asked the microsoft forum about it and they said that my laptop was not compatible, but the answers were vague and it didnt convince me. My laptop have the following characteristics: HP - ENVY 17.3" Refurbished Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - SilverModel: m7-k111dx    SKU: 1312565768                         Refurbished

    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    Technical details: 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor; 17.3" display; 12GB memory; 1TB hard drive
Special features: Touch screen; HDMI output My older laptop, by far worst than the new one, managed to get the App and Reserve Win10 options, so thats odd. I've tried to run the following script and did every single attempt pointed at this link: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_upgrade/i-want-to-reserve-my-free-copy-of-windows-10-but-i/848b5cce-958b-49ae-a132-a999a883265b Is it true that my HP is not compatible with the Windows 10? If not, how can I reserve it or get the Get Windows 10 App?

You're very welcome. I doubt that it is incompatible. There was a post from a HP administrator on a part of the forum that is not accessible to all members which stated in substance... Windows 10 Compatibility Tool Alert ‎06-05-2015 12:29 PM  HP has received reports from customers who are seeing cases where the Windows 10 compatibility tool that is part of Microsoft’s Get Windows 10 app is classifying some items as incompatible that, in fact are compatible. • Adobe Elements 9 compatibility with OSX 10.8

Is Photoshop Elements 9 compatible with OS X 10.8?

Great news! PSE 11 is such a disappointment -- Elements seems to get dumbed-down, lose features, and lose compatibility with filters every version.  I do have to say, though...I used to love PSE with LR and Bridge but I'm probably going to leave the Adobe family if the prices keep going up and the need for Flash goes down!  Glad I saw this post -- thanks, friends!

  • Windows 7 Compatability with Labview 8.0 and missing files while interfacing the FPGA with LV

I am trying to use an FPGA (PCI-7830R) with Labview 8.0. The computer has Windows 7 OS. I installed LV 8.0 in the proper order with the FPGA Module and labview is able to see the FPGA when I open a .lvproj (the FPGA is in the tree) however there is a warning symbol next to the FPGA selection and when I try to open a .vi file that is used on the other stations in my lab (it works on all the other stations), labview is unable to find a whole bunch of files. There are some pictures.
Missing File (there are a bunch more but this is the fist one).

According to this LabVIEW Compatibility LabVIEW 8.0 is NOT compatible with Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 and using Control Panel 2.1.1.  I read a note on the Apple site that Windows 8 is compatible with this version?  Is this true.  I just want to be sure before I install Windows 8.  Things work pretty well right now.

Unfortunately Windows 8 is still unsupported at the driver level on OSX.

  • How do I install windows 8 pro with osx 10.9 Mavericks?, How do I install windows 8 pro with osx 10.9 Mavericks?

Hello everyone I just purchased a brand new mac and I am trying to install windows 8 pro using bootcamp assistant. I get through almost the entire install when i get an error message that says "installation cannot proceed files missing" something like that...
my windows 8 pro is brand new and I downloaded osx mavericks from the app store has anyone else had this problem can anyone help me????!?!?

Hi. Because both Mavericks and Windows 8 are still new, they may not be free of error. Apple needs more time to perform more tests to ensure that these two different OS's will work properly without getting in conflicts. If it's posdible, I highly recommand you to downgrade back to Lion or Mountain Lion and install Windows 7 (if you have a copy of it). In my experience, all advises from Genius Bar members and computer articles confirm that  Windows 7 will work on Macs with Lion OS. It should also work on Mountain Lion. Besides Boot Camp, you could try to virtualize Windows OS and its applications by using VirtualBox, CrossOver and other VMs. I already have an Oracle VirtualBox but I would like to try Boot Camp since it allows me to enjoy almost all Windows features that may be limited in VMs.

  • Recommendations for running Windows on Macbook with OSX Lion version 10.7.2?

I Just bought a new MacBook Pro, running Lion, version 10.7.2. I am looking to run some windows applications on my mac, including AutoCAD, etc. I would ideally like to install bootcamp on my MacBook, but from what i understand, Lion is only compatible with Windows 7... I have Windows XP and VMWARE Fusion that I had run on my previous MacBook, however, I am unable to install VMWARE Fusion on my new MacBook (Lion). Any recommendations for running higher-profile windows apps on a mac without having to purchase Windows7 or a new version of VMWARE? Thanks

Newer computer = newer drivers and apps. You can only run Windows 7 using Boot Camp Assistant with the newer computers. Or, you can download and install Parallels or Fusion (the most current versions work in Lion). If using Parallels or Fusion you can install XP, Vista, Windows 7, etc.
Or, you could try the free VirtualBox.

  • Compatibility with OSX Mavericks

Is Adobe Creative Suite 5 compatible with the new Mac operating system, OSX Mavericks?

You can upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):

  • Isight compatibility with OSX 10.8.2?

I have purchased a stand alone isight camera to go with my 2013 mac mini; I've got the 6-9 pin firewire cable and have got the camera to power on and be recognised by the computer (see below), but it simply isn't functioning properly. Images are refreshed every 5 minutes or so? Any suggestions of a solution?
    Cheers
    Jake
This is what is listed in the firewire device tree.

Connection Speed: Up to 200 Mb/sec

      Product Revision Level: 1.0.3

First thing: Possible Hardware or Software Conflicts with iSight.
Chaining external iSight with other Firewire devices on the same Firewire ports often causes function problems.  Disconnect all other Firewire devices and restart your Mac while testing your iSight with your mini.  (I think your mini has only one FW bus.  If that is correct, you may need to disconnect all other FW devices every time you want to use use an external iSight with your mini.)
If your trouble continues when no other FW device are connected, consider these other possibilities:
    (1) If the old external iSight you have still works, it should work with the new Mac mini.  You can test an external iSight using the suggestions in this link , including Apple's troubleshooting suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
Test more than one Apple camera-enabled app in more than one user account.  However, don't use the "Guest" account for testing.  If your Mac only has one account, create a new user account for testing.
    (2) Although unlikely, it is possible that your Firewire 400-800 cable is not working properly. You can check cable function by trying the cable with a different FW400 device.
If you don't have another FW400 device, get at least one more connector to test for possible connection problems.  Any working one of something like those listed here should work to connect your FW400 external iSight:
    • This Firewire 400-800 cable can work:
        http://store.apple.com/us/product/HA352ZM/A/ (I use this one.)
    • Some users report that this low-priced alternative cable works:
         http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189097
    • To use your iSight's FW400 6pin-6pin cable, you can use a 6pin-9pin adapter like one of these:
http://tinyurl.com/ydsbb6m  (I successfully use this one, too.)
    (3) Apple discontinued external iSight several years ago.
My external iSights (I have two) are great webcams, but they are getting old (as consumer electronics go.)  Both of mine still work as well as they did when they were new. However, some previously owned or even NOS iSights may have been damaged by rough treatment or improper storage.
The only way to know whether any presently available external iSight works properly is to test it using suggestions similar to those I offered above before you buy.  If you did not test the external iSight before you bought and now find it will not work properly with your system, perhaps a trusted seller will give you return or exchange privileges.
Otherwise, if you don't want to spend the money to have your external iSight serviced, consider a new, Mac-compatible USB cam that offers a current manufacturer's warranty instead of any external iSight.  Some examples of current compatible cams are described at   http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/
    (4) If you want to look for more ideas, you can search iSight Discussions.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread/3983993 is a good place to start.
(BTW, current FaceTime software versions work with external iSight's mic.)
    (5) If you need other suggestions after doing your own searches, we will try to offer more specifics based on the details you supply in your reply here.

  • G4050 scanjet compatibility with OSX 10.10.1

Is the Scanjet G4050 compatible with Mac OSX 10.10.1? The HP site does not have a download for this os.

my G4050 worked  "before" correctly to scan 35mm rolls, aso.  For months was no using such kind of scanning,     Recently after trying again such 35mm negs or transparency scans, NO WAY...
Image capture doesn't work  for such scan, probably because latest IOS updates  have changed the options.
HP years ago provided excellent software  for 35mm scanning with the 4050 but as Image capture is "now" indispensable to scan, the incompatibility is evident.
    WHY ?
Are we froced to use another "pro"  (Epson 800 f.i.) to keep scanning ?
Is there a problem inside the PC, the Image  Capture software, or where is the solution  ?   any option  to use other software welcome...
