Windows has left my mini unusable! Help!

I had 10.5.6 running on an early 2006 mini just fine. I partitioned the hdd using boot camp assistant and installed xp pro sp2. When running updates I ran into the 'not enough drive space error' and was trying to fix it. In my troubleshooting the xp install ended up not booting. I get the black dos screen with white text saying no boot drive was found, insert a bootable drive and hit any key etc.' I didn't care since nothing was on that install so I thought I'd just wipe it out and start fresh. I wanted to put in a new hard drive anyway so I thought now would be a good time. I put in an entirely different hard drive and target disk mode booted it attached to my iMac. The drive showed up and I re-partitioned it as GUID and 7-pass wiped it. I booted the mini with the leopard install disc inserted and the same dos 'no boot device' screen comes up mocking me! Is this part of the EFI now? How do I get rid of it and just put Leopard back on? I'll never put Windows on this mini again! I just want to be able to boot into OS X! HELP!

ran a volume structure and volume rebuild in techtools 5 and I think that did it! I just booted off the install disc for leopard. My motto is truer than ever; windows makes everything worse!
