Windows iCloud utility

Hello everybody!
I am a new for this community. Yesterday I upgraded my iPhone 5 to Ios 8.1 and enabled iCloud Drive. The I installed iCloud utility on Windows 7 and enabled Bookmarks syncing with Firefox. To see the result I opened safari on my iPhone and checked the Bookmarks list and found that some of my Windows bookmarks became available for iPhone safari. I then opened one of the bookmarks link and it's worked just fine. But when I got back to safari bookmarks page it was empty. All my bookmarks including iPhone resident has gone and I was made to restore my phone from a backup to get my bookmarks back.
In addition Apple guide claims that Windows OS creates some specific iCloud folders like Dropbox does. But I did not find any folder besides those for Apps like Pages. But they always have been there. I still did not understand how I put the files for syncing with iCloud Drive, I can only upload files to iCloud.com. In Dropbox I simply save files in special folder, and this folder is synced with Dropbox server without my attention to it.

Although more recent, and with newer devices, I have been trying to find this same information. Please help!

In AEBS I'm forwarding 4500 to IP .99
4500 is BTMM right?
So I'm thinking I'll disable BTMM on the AEBS and test again however the Windows airport utility won't let me disable/enable BTMM and I dont have another OSX machine on the network currently to use to check/change the setting.
Any suggestions on how I can disable BTMM from the Windows tool? Or without a tool at all?

I strongly recommend whenever a router is seeming to cause issues.. you actually bypass it.. plug the computer directly into the modem and see if the vpn works. You need to get the simple easy to work before you attempt the much harder job of vpn passthrough on a known problematic device.
If the vpn doesn't work still you have the vpn server or local firewall setup wrongly.
If it works ok and the airport continues to give you grief.
My advice is simple.. get another router. Bridge the AE and use it for Wireless. A cheap normal router (particularly if you purchase wisely one that has possible 3rd party firmware) is going to save you years of aging, worry, pain, and all round trouble. Particularly when you try to get things working Apple to Windows with their different upnp vs NATPMP protocols, it is just too hard.
however I'm still seeing those binding messages in the log, as if it's still going somewhere.
Some interaction with Apple is built into every Mac with iCloud ID at least. Turn off all the other clients in the network.. reboot the AE.. but I doubt it will make any difference. It might not be BTMM it might simply be the security protection of the username and password.

Windows icloud control panel installer error

I control uninstall or repair the Windows Icloud 4.00. I cannot install the update 4.01 either. Any workarounds? Symantec has a utility to completely uninstall their software in Windows. Does Apple have the same?

When trying to install iCloud for Windows in Windows v8.1 64 bit I get the error:
"The installer encountered errors before iCloud Control panel could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To try these operations at a later time, please run the installer again"
I have disable the Anti Virus, removed other Apple apps, re booted the system and have tried the installer several time from several sources. THEY ALL FAIL.

IMovie files in Windows iCloud site?

Hello everyone , i wanted to ask ; is it possible to upload videos I've made in iMovie in the iCloud Drive ? Ive done that but when i go to to the iCloud site i don't see any iMovie file in iCloud Drive . I will go vacations and ill need to keep my youtube channel up , and i will have my windows pc only , so i have prepared some videos that i don't want to upload right now cause they are not in the last editing phase yet . So is it possible to open an iMovie file via Windows' iCloud site , in the iCloud drive section ?

They should be viewable using QuickTime Player or editable using Movie Maker.

Cannot login from Windows iCloud control panel, but that not all...

I set up my Apple Id and downloaded the Windows iCloud control panel, but when I try to sign in from my PCI get this message: "You can't sign in because of a server error." But when I check the status of icloud everything is operational. But if I go to the icloud page directly, I can sign in normally. The reason this is an issue is that I cannot setup icloud on my computer properly and with all of the options I want without signing in from the icloud control panel. This really bites, and any help would be appreciated immensly.

Have had some success with multiple computers running Windows 7, Vista, and Windows Server 2008 doing the following with iCloud Control Panel 3.1 (combination of several different remedies posted in forum):
Sign out of iCloud Control Panel
Open Task Manager and End all Apple iCloud and Photostream processes
Delete the files from the Directory C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Mediastream
Open iCloud Control Panel and sign in with apple ID
If Photo option is still greyed out, sign out and sign back in with iCloud email address and password.
This has worked for seven users that I support across several different windows hardware platforms. Good luck!

R&R vs Windows Backup utility

While the thinkvantage R&R won't use a USB flash drive for a backup device, windows backup utility will (XP Pro).
Question is, what can R&R do that windows backup can't? If my hard drive fails, can windows backup be used to install the OS, data, and settings to a new drive... the way that R&R can?

R&R can encrypt your backups (so that if you lose a USB drive, nobody can browse your files without your password) and also compress them so they tend to be somewhat smaller. There is also more flexibility in the settings for R&R (for example, choosing selected large files for "single storage"). As far as restoring everything from windows backups, on Windows7 yes, system image created with the backup utility and a repair disk (created with the backup utility) can be used to restore the whole system+data. I am not sure about XP though; I no longer have access to XP, but my recollection is that the backup utility on XP lacks this functionality.

sure, you can write a batch/perl/powershell/whatever script that will connect to your switch and then backup the configuration. You need to decided where you are going to back it up to, possible options include TFTP, SCP, FTP, SFTP. For example i am backing to a TFTP server, my perl script connect to the switch and runs this command:
copy startup-config tftp://tfpserver-ip/mds9513.$(TIMESTAMP).config
TIMESTAMP is actually a built-in variable that will be replaced with the date/time configured on the switch.

edit I have now tried the dos622, ME Oem, and 98 SE boot discs and none of them work they keep saying I need the FAT32 File system.
Are you absoultley sure that these types of boot disks work with NTFS?

Unable to see Airport Express from Windows Airport Utility

I am setting up an Airport Express to connect remote speakers for a friend with windows base system. The router is a TrendNet.
I have managed to add the Airport Express to the network. I can ping the router, and if I put in the IP address to Airport Utility it is found and I can configure it. Airport Utility on it's own however will not find the Airport Express.
I can currently play to the Airport speakers from multiple iPhones also on the network, so I know that part is working as well. What is not working is the Airport Express is not showing up in iTunes as an available speaker. I am guessing that as the Airport Utility also will not recognize it that is had something to do with firewall rules on the Windows 7 computer or Trendnet Router. I checked Windows 7, and there are four Bonjour entries and one iTunes entry. All seem set open for incoming requests.
At this point I'm puzzled. Any network gurus out there have new ideas?

I just ran both the verify and repair options on both the permissions and the volume. The ~/Library permissions are repaired, but that was all. I also checked the software update, but I have all the latest installed, it seems.
Where can I check my AirTunes version? I tried spotlighting for it, but that search came up empty. I did install the version that came with the AirPort Express. It says "AirPort 4.2", so I guess that's the version installed at the moment. My iTunes version is 7.0.2. I upgraded the firmware to version 6.3.
I have very little knowledge of networking, I'm afraid, and I'm starting to think that maybe the problem could be my router being set up in such a way that it won't allow the AirPort Express to connect properly.
The reason I believe it's my network rather than the AirPort Express is because when I reset the device, I see that new network named "Apple Network xxxxx". When I connect to it, iTunes properly displays that AirTunes selection box in the lower right and I can stream music to it. With the ethernet cable plugged in, the sound does lag every now and then whenever I use an applications that needs Internet access.
The MacBook, router and AirPort Express are about one to two meters apart (that's three to six feet, I think). I'm not quite sure if the SpeedTouch router is set up properly. Luckily, a friend of mine who's a system administrator is coming over today, so I'll ask him if he could have a look at my network setup.

HT203687 How can I upload conacts from my Iphone to Windows Icloud contacts?

I have used Itunes to sync all my contacts on my IPhone 5, IPhone 4 and IPad 2 to the contacts in my Dos PC running Windows 7. All my remote devices have the ICloud set to "Contacts Off". Right now, when I go to Cloud.Com the Contacts list is empty.
Can I set the ICloud "Contacts On" in all the above Mac based devices, so that it populates the ICloud Contacts, so that any changes in Contacts in one of my devises, it makes the same changes to all the rest of the devises? I am concerned that, if I turn on Cloud Contacts on all my devices, it might triplicate all my contacts on the Cloud and all my devicses. Can someone please help?
In a conversation with an ICloud support person, he suggested I always use Itunes to sync my Contacts - I don't understand how this would work and I would think it near impossible to keep eveything synced this way. How does Itunes know which devise has the correct updated information. What happens to deleted contacts in one device, some in another, changed info in the next, etc. Would I have to sync them on every change I made to a device - this sounds un-managemable to me. What happenns if one devse looses its information- does Itunes know not to kill the info in all the other devices. Due to my limited knowledge, I an afraid of the whole syncing process.
Currently I am using the ICloud for all my Scheduling, Notes and Reminders and it works great for updating across all my devices. My wife and I share the same account, so this keeps us from making scheduling commitments that conflict with the other, etc.. ICould works great for this. Now if I can get it to work for updating my Contacts, I would be very happy !

Boot Camp - Windows Switching Utility?

I saw a utility called "Boot Champ" that was designed to allow you to boot windows from Mac OS without shutting down and using the option key. I wasn't very impressed with the utility... are there any other utilities that have the same properties that I might try?

Windows - Airport Utility won't recognize Express plugged into Home stereo.

I am trying to set up the express to stream music to home stereo exclusively. I currently have a NETGEAR 108 Mbps (WGT624 v2) router set up on a Windows XP. Airport Utility won't recognize the device. Any ideas on how to make this thing work while keeping existing network? Thanks so much.

Please reconnect the AX back to the Netgear before running the AirPort Utility.
Ok, compare your settings to the following within the AirPort Utility using Manual Setup:

In iTunes:

Windows partition utility does not agree with fdisk

The background for this is here. Tl;dr: I created 3 primary partitions (SYSTEM, C:, shared data) and two logical (/boot and /) for a dual boot system, and ran into issues with chainloading from win7 with EasyBCD. To troubleshoot, I simplified the setup to 3 primary partitions, and am now trying to go back... but can't!
Method:
- Delete all volumes/partitions after C:
- Create primary partition of ~100G, NTFS formatted (shared data)
- Create logical partition of 256M, unformatted (/boot)
- Create logical partition with remaining space, unformatted (encrypted /)
I used the built-in win7 partition utility for this, and it looks like it worked: screenshot
My first alert was the fact that Minitool Partition Wizard didn't agree with win7: screenshot
In fact, trying to create logical partitions with Minitool reports that the operation was successful, but as soon as it completes they turn back into unallocated space. I actually tried this first and then went with the win7 utility as I thought something was wrong with Minitool. I'm starting to think it's the other way around and that Minitool sees the correct state and win7 is wrong. That diagnosis comes from the output of fdisk via booting an Arch installation image:

No idea whatsoever on the type ID assigned to /dev/sda5, nor why it shows as 1.4T. I've tried various things with no success:
- check/fix errors via win7 drive properties (no errors found)
- delete all non-win7 partitions, grow the partition to the full disk, and then shrink back again
- shrink win7 to ~80G, create a single primary partition, boot Arch install media, format with ext4, `dd if=/dev/zero of=file.txt` until full, then delete file
- change order (2 logicals, then primary)
- format the logicals with NTFS upon creation instead of leaving them unformatted
- assigning drive letters upon creating the partitions vs. no drive letter
I'm hesitant to just do everything from fdisk, as I have McAfee Endpoint Encryption and I'm not sure if writing the partition table from outside of windows can possibly ruin anything related to how the startup decryption works. If someone can assure that dd'ing some number of bytes on /dev/sda would allow me to reverse the process (restore said bytes to the beginning of the drive) in the event of any failures, I'd be willing to give that a shot. I know I've dd'd the encrypted MBR in the past and successfully restored it (after trying to install grub instead of the windows bootloader) just fine and been able to boot again. Not sure if messing with the partition table is any different.

Maybe I will re-check all this again today.
In the mean time I will appreciate any other suggestions that you may have about this issue.

Getting windows icloud to update contacts from 5s

I cannot get the windows explorer, my icloud account to update from my 5s phone. It did when I first set the icloud up, but I have changed some things and cannot get it to change. I have told it to back up on phone and went in and out of icloud on pc, and also tried a refresh with no luck. On my phone, which is updated I have the icloud drive on and contacts on? Any suggestions to try?

Have you tried to log on to www.icloud.com?
