Windows Installation DVDs Recognized Blank!!!

I have to install windows to do my work, but recently after I erase my previous Bootcamp drive with win7 on it(cause I’m planning to re-install windows), I start again the installation procedure. I expect it would be smooth, but my iMac just can’t read win7 DVDs, actually read as blank DVDs.
I burned like 7 or 8 DVDs but the problem wouldn’t fix. I also changed 2 ISO files(Original Microsoft MSDN), and problem is still there. I tested that those DVDs can be recognized on my PC, so it’s not the DVDs’ problem.
I tried to inserted a data DVD, and it can be read fine, so it confuses me whether the DVD drive is broken.
So what’s the problem on earth??? I badly need windows.
Hope for reply soon.

Boot Camp will only install from a full retail licensed version of Windows, based on your hardware's limitations:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1846
If you want to install from OEM, or other versions of Windows that are licensed but not full retail, you may want to try a different virtualization engine*:

Copies of the Windows installation CD generally are not legal if they were copied to blank CDs yourself or by someone else, and may have copy/protection schemes that prevent install. Only use genuine Microsoft operating systems.

  • Windows installation failed and Windows Installation DVD can not be ejected

    Hi,
I have tried to install windows, the installation was executed till the copy of the windows files. Then the Computer restart and ask to install Windows again (blue screen). As I can not eject the Windows DVD the system goes to the same loop again and again.
Starting the Mac with pressed left mouse button in order to eject the DVD does not work. Any idea how to eject the windows installation DVD ? It seems that does not work.
    Thanks a lot

ok, I understand that I had to press the option key by restarting the computer. Now it works.

  • Windows Installer not recognizing partition!

Hey all, I just bought a macbook pro yesterday and have been trying my hardest to install xp viz boot camp. When I start boot camp, I set the partition to 32GB, then click partition. Then a boot camp icon appears on the desktop showing it is 32.11GB in size.
Next it says to put in the XP CD and click start installation. Do that computer restarts, then begins installing windows. However once it gets to the part of choosing which partition to put it on all it shows is c: with 1310xxx MB for the partition. Basically I think it is not seeing my boot camp partition for one reason or another.
I have tried multiple times removing the partition then re-creating it and doing it over and over and cannot seem to find out why the partition isn't being recognized. Any help at all would be great as it doesn't seem anyone has a solution to it. Thanks!

I am trying to install Bootcamp, I've followed the instructions up to this point:
    1
If you already quit Boot Camp Assistant without installing Windows:
    a
    Open Boot Camp Assistant.
    b
    Select “Start the Windows installer.”
    c
    Click Continue.
    2
If you are using a computer with more than one internal disk, select the disk on which
you want to install Windows, and then click Continue.
    3
    Insert your Windows installation disc.
    4
In Boot Camp Assistant, click Start Installation.
    5
Your computer starts up from the Windows installation disc. Follow the onscreen
instructions. Refer to the following sections for more information.
    Selecting the Windows Partition
It is very important to select the correct partition when installing Windows so that you
don’t overwrite Mac OS X on your computer.
To select the correct partition for Windows XP:
    m
    Select “C: Partition3 <BOOTCAMP> [FAT32].”
When I select the "C" partition by arrowing down, and hitting enter, I do not get the choice to format the partition that was initially created, what is going wrong?

  • UEFI-only Won't Boot Windows Installation DVD

As you can see from my topic subject, my W520 laptop won't boot from my Windows 7 Installation DVD when it is set to UEFI-only mode. I don't get any errors or anything, the screen just goes black for a second and returns to the Boot Menu, when I select the DVD drive. For what it's worth, my hard drive is already GPT partitioned, and I need to repair the installation.
Before I ask for help, I just want to mention that I created this particular Windows 7 Installation DVD using the All-in-One tutorial so that I could have 32-bit and 64-bit options all on the same disc. The disc booted fine in "Legacy/UEFI" boot mode, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Does anyone have insight into this?
EDIT: I've been following this tutorial: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=186440 and am at Step 14.
ThinkPads and SSDs: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The UEFI/BIOS is the first thing I updated on the computer, so mine's 1.22. I wish it were that easy, though Could 1.22 have re-introduced the problem?
EDIT: Holy smokes! There's another version of the UEFI-BIOS already Unfortunately, my hard drive is stuck in limbo! It's now partitioned in GPT and needs to be repaired. I'll use the bootable BIOS cd and report back if the new version works

  • IMac will no longer boot ANY version of Windows CD/DVD

I have a 20" unibody iMac 8,1 that originally came with Leopard and has been upgraded to Snow Leopard (currently 10.6.1). During Leopard days, it had Boot Camp running Windows XP (for games) and worked fine. At some point, boot camp was removed and the system was returned to a single partition. Recently, I've decided to install Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (retail cd) and so went through the Boot Camp Assistant to create a new boot camp partition and launch the Windows installer DVD. After going through the partition process successfully, the Windows 7 DVD failed to boot, ending in a black screen with a flashing underscore ( _ ). I tried to boot the Windows 7 DVD several times with the same result. Thinking that somehow the Windows 7 DVD was damaged, I got out my Windows XP install CD and tried to boot that, with the same result (black screen blinking underscore _ ). I tried this with a retail copy of Vista Ultimate 32 bit, with the same result. I have run Disk Utility and verified the disk contains no errors. I have tried manually forcing the boot to the Windows install DVD/CD's by holding Alt during boot, and manually clicking on them, with the same result. I have backed up the entire HD with Super Duper and erased the disk and then restored the from Super Duper copy, in case there was a problem with the partition table. All with same result, blinking underscore on a black screen when attempting to boot off Windows install media.
This machine used to have boot camp successfully running XP under Leopard. Now I can't even boot from a Windows install CD/DVD (any kind of windows). What has happened? Did the Snow Leopard installation change something? Is there a firmware update that is needed? I have tried resetting PRAM and SMC with no result. I am out of ideas. All of these windows install disks work fine if I boot them with my MacBook Pro. It's just the iMac that won't boot a Windows install DVD/CD, of any kind.
    Help!

I can boot both Snow Leopard and Leopard install disks, no problem. I cannot boot ANY version of Windows install disk (XP, Vista, 7). My Super Duper backup was a backup of my Snow Leopard install to reformat the drive, since one theory was that the partition table was messed up. No go.

Guys, I been in the business working on PC and MAC for years. So I am not green at this, I was looking for some kind of option to get past the boot loader..  Which is failing.
I know how to boot into these modes.. Done tons of research before posting and couldn't find anything.
It will not go into  Internet Recovery, or any thing else.  I hear the sound .. then that is it.. I get nothing else..
I have tried clearing the NVRAM which is Option + Command + P + R
    Still nothing..
So I thought I would try here to see if maybe there was some trick out there someone might know of that would work.
What else guys?  I am hitting th keys right..

  • I want to make an .iso image of my Windows 7 Installation DVD in OS X

    Greetings,
I am writing because my intent is to make a .iso file of my Windows 7 Installation disc using Disk Utility in OS X. I would like to keep a back up (both in a external drive and the cloud) of the image in case the DVD gets damaged or the SuperDrive goes south in the distant future (call it an insurance if you will). During the last 6 months I have been working in trying to get my application installers (both OS X and Windows) in the cloud as I find them more convinient and less likely to degrade in quality since the digital download does not get "scratched" per se, and downloads can be checksummed to ensure file integrity.
Is there any way in which I can make an .iso image of my Windows 7 DVD using OS X Disk Utility?
Thanks for any assistance on this matter.

  • How can I install FL Studio (a installation dvd for Windows) on my macbook?

I've got a installation dvd (downloaded) for FL Studio but it is for Windows. I've read that you can set Windows softwares on your mac with Boot Camp. Can I do that with FL Studio 11 as well?

You need to install Windows OS first. One option is to use Bootcamp using  How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support.
You should check System Requirements for FL Studio 11, before you go further. From http://www.image-line.com/flstudio/
    FL Studio system requirements:
2Ghz Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 64 (or later) compatible CPU with full SSE2 support. The faster your CPU and more cores it has the more you will be able to do simultaneously. Download and test the demo!
32 or 64 Bit versions of Windows 8.0/8.1, Windows 7, Vista, XP (with service pack 3)
(or) Intel Mac with Boot Camp / Windows.
Running XP (with service pack 3), Vista or Windows 7 (in 32 or 64 Bit)
(or) Intel Mac with OS X 10.8 or 10.9 for the FL Studio Mac OS X BETA (Crossover Wrapped)
    Attention: Yosemite not supported.
1 Gb or more RAM recommended
    1 Gb free disk space
Soundcard with DirectSound drivers. ASIO/ASIO2 compatible required for audio recording (FL Studio installs with generic ASIO4ALL drivers)

HELP!! Itunes wont install on Windows 7.  I get an error msg. there is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required to install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor. WHAT NOW?

Ok, Below is what worked for me somewhat.
Okay ... try downloading and saving a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe to your PC from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now download a trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.php
Open the iTunesSetup.exe with WinRAR, and try to run the standalone install of Apple Application Support from the AppleApplicationSupport.msi you find in there.
It works now BUT there are still problems.  It is not allowing or recognizing my Cd/DVD player and i CANT burn.  Looking still for this fix.

  • Re: Satellite C660D-102 - How to copy Windows on DVD?

Hello people. I have bought a new Toshiba Satellite C660D-102.
The seller told me to copy Windows on DVDs soon to open the laptop. Do not know where to take the Windows installation files. You've encountered this problem? How can I fix this problem.

    Hey,
I think the seller did mean creating the Toshiba recovery disk that contains an image of factory settings. In case you cant start Windows anymore or the HDD must be replaced you can use this disk to restore Windows with all drivers and tools. With other words you get factory settings back, the same settings as you purchased the notebook so its very useful and easy.
You can create this disk if you start Toshiba recovery media creator that is preinstalled on your computer. Depending on the installation you need some blank DVD mediums. I would recommend high quality mediums, Typ: DVD-R from Verbatim or TDK. They work good and other users here can recommend them too.
Last but not least you should also read your user manual. It contains interesting information about this and other interesting things. Its also preinstalled on your notebook. :)
But its really great the seller gave you a hint about this. If you check other forum threads you will read about lot of other users they forget to create this disk and are not able to restore factory settings if Windows failed to start.
