Windows installer Acrobat 9.3.2

Ever since installing the latest update I am have to go through the installation process when opening Acrobat.
This does not happen all of the time just occasionally.
Any suggestions is welcomed.
This happens both on my PC which has Windows XP Pro SP3 and my laptop which has Windows XP Home SP3.
Avast 5.0 - Sygate firewall

Found the fix.
Ran the MS Windows Install Clean Up tool.
The one thing it did was messed up the shortcut when go to Start - Programs then Acrobat - did not work had to
recreate shortcut.

  • Windows Installer error while trying to install Acrobat Reader 8

I am trying to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 off the CS3 disc. I already have Acrobat 8 Professional (8.2.3) installed. I just need the Reader. Whenever I try to install the Reader I get the following error, "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnal for assistance."
I have tried all the Microsoft fixes for this situation, but I still keep getting the error message. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Nevermind, I figured out what was wrong. I had disabled User Account Control (UAC) when I was tweaking my OS. So I enabled UAC again and was able to install Acrobat Reader 8 without any problems.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 pro's windows installer appearing after right click on any file or application

I accidentally deleted the acrobat 9.0 manually from the program files. The acrobat doesn't work... There is also a nuisance. The windows installer for the Adobe acrobat keep on appearing when i right click a file or application. I have to cancel it. If i wait for it to load, it will say that the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click Ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installer package "AcroPro.msi" in the box below. if i click ok, it will show an error- the path"..." cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installer package "AcroPro.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product Adobe Acrobat 9 pro ... It will also cause the computer to be very lag. I am seeking assistance. Please help.

This happens when I right click on ANYTHING at all, I can even just right-click on the desktop and that install window comes on!
The program itself opens fine separately. I 'll be honest, I haven't used it much as I am just learning all the programs, so if it is actually working correctly I don't know. I do know that I tried to used the "covert to pdf" button while on Internet Explorer and it would not work. Don't know if the problem is related or not...
I have that idiotic UAC off - it drove me crazy...

  • Acrobat 9.5 pro keeps opening Windows installation window when clicked on icon.

Opens normally PDF documents. And the fix is ...?

    Hi Ajlan,
OK, it's odd, Acrobat launches normally only from its folder.
Any new shortcut created either on Start or Task bar opens Windows
installation window but the one on Desktop is OK.
Unfortunately I don't use Desktop shortcuts.

  • I downloaded the acrobat 9 pro series of updates. Get an error message saying that windows installer can't install.  Missing or wrong program.

Here is the exact error message:
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.  Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
It is Acrobat 9 Pro that is installed and the upgrade file is: AcroProExUpd910_all_incr and/or AcrobatUpd911_all_incr.
    Help!

the 2nd file can only be installed on acrobat 9.1.0 pro extended.
what version do you have (click help>about)?
and what link did you use to get AcroProExUpd910_all_incr?

  • Acrobat 7.1 update fails -- Windows Installer problem

I am running Windows XP SP3.
During the update to Acrobat 7.1, I first get a Windows message in a window labeled "Windows Intaller" that states "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."
Having no clue what this means, I stick my legal Windows XP CD in the drive but that is no help.
This is followed by a message from the Adobe installer that it has failed because "Missing source media. (Error 1612)"
Can anyone please suggest a fix?

Help! I can print everything, except Adobe, "unable to print job, is printer available?" After many hours of trying to correct the problem, these are some of the messages I've come up with..."update installed Nov. 15, 07 cannot be removed...cannot delete #1571809 corrupt updater...patch pocket cannot be opened, verify if it exists...error opening document, file is damaged & could not be repaired...cannot be reinstalled because older version cannot be removed...package couldn't be opened, verify that the patch exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Patch Pocket...network server corruption....Internet Explorer blocked site from downloading" I've tried restoration, the same results, .."restoration cannot be restored, software distribution serv. 3, no changes have been made". I've tried removing the program, reinstalling the program, tried to remove Desktop shortcuts

  • Windows Installer starts (and fails) upon Vista starting - Acrobat 7.0.9

    Hello all,
For some reason, the past couple of days, upon starting Vista Ultimate (no SP1
yet) something is causing Windows Installer to fire up and try to install Acrobat
7.0.9 - which of course was installed/updated months ago.
This coincided with updating Reader to the newest version. Now Reader is updated
and works, but Acrobat Pro doesn't work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Tim

Yeah AA7 worked perfectly on Vista until the AR8 update.
I mostly love Adobe products, and use them all every day (Creative Suite CS2)
etc.... but honestly this is the very same sort of scenario that baffles me about
    Adobe:
Installing Premiere Elements 4 completely breaks Bridge, and Adobe's own knowledge
base repair is utterly useless. I understand that CS2 and AA7 are not certified
in Vista - but there is absolutely NO excuse for one Adobe product to completely
break one of their own products, and then compound that by 1. Knowing about it,
and 2. Not offering a feasible solution (other than to spend thousands upgrading
    your Adobe products.)
I guess the fact that updating free AR8 has broken their own $350 AA7 is typical
    and expected. Shameful.

  • Acrobat 8 unable to update windows installer errorcode 1642

I am facing a servere problem with updates to our CS3 DP installed clients as of this week and hence acrobat 8. The issue concerns both OS's Win XP pro 32 bit and Win 7 pro 64 bit. After succesfull install of CS3 DP, an update request results in a pop message:
"There are no updates available at this time.
Please note that some updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time:  Adobe Updater"  On the initial installe this popup is followed by a eventlog in Program eventid 1024, were the errrorcode 1642 is mentioned.
I have read posts in here concerning the error 162 and tried a clean install on a brand new workstation win7 pro 64 without Acrobat reader and only fabrik installed windows updates thus i rule out any recently Microsoft updates coursing the issue. i have tried with combitions of older Acrobat reader  eg 9.1 as well as 10 all with the same result in the end "There are no updates available at this time." I haven´t tried the update to Adobe Updater to version 6.2 since it is for CS4, but i am almost certain that is this update that courses aour problems.
Any hints or suggestions are welcomed..

    >> ... Acrobat v8 is no longer supported.
So: this is completely excruciating. I've got an original Acrobat 8.0.0 installation CD, genuine purchase, with 24 character registration code. It installs properly, and has done so on every new OS installation since. Up to now the update process taking me from 8.0.0 to 8.3.1 had been tedious, but it has worked.
Now, because a page in the calendar has turned, I'm stuck with 8.0.0? What a lunatic policy decision. Even if v8 was no longer supported or developed, updating to 8.3.1 shoulkd still be possible (I mean, it is necessary, if security is to ne maintained ...)
    Summarising:
    1)    Help -> Check for Updates results in the response
"There are no updates available at this time. Please note that updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time: Adobe Updater"
    2)    Downloading ALL the updates 8.1.0 -> 8.1.7 -> 8.2.0 -> 8.2.6 -> 8.3.0 -> 8.3.1 from the download centre and starting at 8.1.0 yields:
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
Is there something missing between 8.0.0 off the CD and 8.1.0 off the web? I'm absolutely raging.

  • VISTA - Acrobat 8 Error - Windows Installer

    Operating System: Vista Ultimate
    Product: Acrobat 8 Professional
We have managed to install Acrobat 8 Professional and it works perfectly with this one exception. Every time we start the computer, or click on a hard drive or such like we encounter a Windows Installer pop-up stating that it is preparing to install adobe acrobat 8 it then gathers information and completes
It does this every time the computer starts and at random intervals in-between and as you can imagine this is extremely annoying so much so that at the moment I have completely removed this product from the computer.
How do we fix this problem???
    Help
    Steve

Ok...here is a little help here--
From this point on...I shall deem this: The UNIVERSAL VISTA HELP GUIDE FOR INSTALLS AND CONFIGURATION OF ACROBAT 8 -- ok...so now it sounds impressive and scarry, here we go
All steps assume that your Vista interface is left on factory, Aero defualts
First off, you must be logged into as an administrator on your machine!! VERY IMPORTANT!!
Second, remove all instances of Acrobat from your system (including reader)
    Third, disable IE protected mode
Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet Options>Security Tab> Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode" (repeat this for all zones)>OK!
Fourth, temporarly disable UAC (Universal Access Control)
Start (or Pearl as MS calls it) > (where it says start search--it is paired up to be your RUN line) type 'msconfig' (w/o quotes)> Enter > Tools Tab> Disable UAC > Launch > close out of the command prompt> OK >restart computer
Fifth, only applies if you have downloaded the trial version of AC8
Right click on the installer/download package> properties> compatibility> Set to run this program in compatiblity mode for "Windows XP SP2" mode > OK
    Sixth, run installers
Downloaded versions: Double click as normal to launch (be sure to complete step 5 first)
CD versions: DO NOT USE THE AUTORUN -- its been my experience that the autoruns sometimes have issues -- Follow these steps instead (with the CD inserted of course)
Open up My Computer (or in just Computer) > Find your drive that has Acrobat CD inserted into it> Right click > OPEN > Double click on the folder Acrobat Standard (for standard users) or Acrobat Professional (Pro users)> then launch the AcroPro (Pro) or AcroStan (Standard)
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND COMPLETE INSTALLS for purpose of future updates and also if a repair is needed
    Seven, after installation -- IMPORTANT!!
Run Acrobat for the first time and accept the EULA and Activate (if you are provided with a key), then close it
Eight, Print to the AdobePDF Printer to verify its functionality
It does not matter what application, preferably IE though
    Nine, Restart system
Ten, reenable Protected mode and UAC
Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet Options>Security>(in all zones) check the enable Protected mode (except in the Trusted Zones group)>OK
Start>(in the search bar type) msconfig > enter > tools tab > enable UAC > Launch > close the command prompt > OK > restart computer
    Finally, test Acrobat again
Launch, Print to the AdobePDF printer and you should be all set

  • Acrobat X Std. unter WinXP: ohne Adminrechte ständige Windows Installer-Meldungen

    Hallo zusammen,
    - User lokale Admin-rechte gegeben: Meldung weg.

  • Files in use - Windows Installer

Vista 64 bit IE9 office 2007 - downloaded the trial version files of Acrobat X Pro went to install and and received this message:  "Files in use - The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup. Close these applications and click retry. If retry is not successful please restart your computer and then run set up again - windows installer (process id 2488)"  How do I stop this application?

    Rob,
There is no quicktime folder there. And no quicktime program is installed when I try to install iTunes. The only reason I tried installing quicktime in standalone was because the itunes install was not actively going to the quicktime part of its installation.
I've tried removing everything and only installing iTunes. But even after deleting the physical files, using the WIndows Install cleanup tool, and cleaning up my registry, the quicktime portion of the iTunes install doesn't complete, and I keep getting "unknown" errors from the crash prevention program, and from what I can see it's because there's no physical Quicktime program installed.
As for other accounts, no I cannot start it up with other accounts, I keep getting the "Unknown" error and there is no physical files for quicktime anywhere.
And selective startup doesn't seem to work as there is NO qttask option when I run selective startup.
So, I seem to be out of options, and thing else I could try?
    ~Jay

  • Adobe Acro 8: Update of AcroPro.msi on AIP fails with windows installer error.

    Hi,
Creating a AIP with Adobe Acrobat 8 files.
Have created a AIP without any problems.
When i try to add patches to the AIP using the MSIEXEC /a "" /p "" i get a Windows Installer error saying:
"This package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact tha application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."
What can be the cause of this?
The update packages are fresh downloads from Adobe.com.
Using WinXP SP3 with Windows Installer 4.5.

I hope you have gone through the solution posted on http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/498/cpsid_49880.html
