Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

Go to Microsoft download center to get this Utility for those of you that are having problems removing older versions of Adobe Reader in order to be able to install the updated 8.1.2 Reader. It does work. A Dell Tech downloaded this Utility for me and solved my problem in just a few minutes.

  • Is there a program to replace the Windows installer cleanup utility?

Trying to update itunes but can't remove the old program, get message C:\Documents and Settings\mark\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple\Apple Software Update\.  Anyone know if there is a replacement for Windows Installer Cleanup Utility ? Or some other way to get rid of the old program?
    Thanks.

Microsoft retired the CleanUp utility because it can cause problems with other programs installed by the Microsoft Windows Installer. The replacement is a Microsoft "Fix It" solution; it is not a Java app but a downloadable executable and is run locally.
Due to potential problems with the outdated Microsoft Installer CleanUp Utility, use the Fix it solution before attempting to find and run msicuu2.exe. It is well written and does not harm other programs installed by the Windows Installer (1 potential problem with the old utility). It may take several minutes (I have seen 20-30) to uninstall the app but when the Fix it solution finishes successfully the app is uninstalled.
The replacement is found at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall.

  • Fixing problems with the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

Sorry for the long subject. I am having what appear to be common problems with my acrobat reader for which the only solution appears to be using the microsoft windows installer cleanup thing.
I have acheived downloading the utility to my desktop but when I try to run it I get an error message as follows:
Across the top of the message it says 'WINDOWS SCRIPT HOST' and in the box it says:
    Script: C:\DOCUMEN~1\Karen\LOCAL~1\Temp\IXP000.TMP\StartMsi.vbs
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
Error: The specified module could not be found
    Code: 800700E
    Source: (Null)
Does anyone have any clues as to where I can go from here as I am stuck with a program I can neither use or uninstall, and a reascue plan that doesn't want to cooperate either. And please treat me like a 2 yr old with the technical stuff. Thanks. :-)
    Karen

Can you try to download it again, perhaps to the C:\ drive rather than the Desktop? Delete the Desktop download, then open Windows Explorer, and run the installer from the C:\ drive.
P.S. do you have administrative privileges on your system?

  • How or where do I find Windows Installer CleanUp Utility?

I have a Compaq Presario ,Windows XP. It seems Adobe has joined Goggle in cutting out the old boys.(Internet explorer  8).   I am 86 and don't have the where with all to upgrade my computer.  First my e-mail and now my Adobe reader.  I have Reader XI listed in my Add/Remove file and cannot remove it. I successfully removed the other numbers but the XI gives me a message that the PatchPackage, could not be opened. It also tells me to get Windows Installer CleanUp Utilityto recifiy this. I need help.Please..

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • CS5clean script, Windows installer cleanup utility no longer available from Microsoft.  What now?

Since the Windows Installer cleanup script is no longer available from Microsoft because (while it) "...resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other  components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been  removed from the Microsoft Download Center"
So my installation of CS4Master collection is broken and I have no way of removing it.  Thanks Adobe.
It alyways amazes me the need to make applications so reliant on inner workings the OS, at such a complex level, to simply run.
    Either way, Im stuck

  • For someone who can't use the windows installer cleanup utility.

I have been an iTunes user for years and have usually updated to the newest version whenever prompted and have had very little trouble with the program despite always using PCs. However, I recently purchased an iPhone which is fun, but requires the newest iTunes.
I tried to install the new version and received a message which many people have, which said "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
I searched online and found the solution that said to use the Windows Cleanup Utility or whatever, however, my computer barred me from doing this for some reason. Even when I manually attempted to register with the Command Prompt window, I was unable to get the program to work. I tried to fix THIS part, but received another error message which directed me to format my computer, which I am unwilling to do at this time. I don't even want to lose my library but I'm kind of resigned to that at this time.
So what I'm asking is, is there any other way to get this sorted out without the utility package? Any way to direct my computer to where itunes.msi would be on my computer? Is there anyway to fix this, seeing as it seems to be a recurring problem in the installation of this version? Thank you.

  • Windows Installer Cleanup

\So I have been trying to update Exchange Sp1 to Sp3 for weeks. I mean I am ready to shoot the dang SBS 11 box!  Getting errors out the wazoo since the prior IT guy didn't do a good migration from server 08 originally. Anyways I had an error from an Exchange 2007 anti spam msi not being installed correctly. What the hell? I am on 10 not 7...weird but OK...after deleting the registry entries and msiexec /x key nothing was working. Turns out a deprecated tool called the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility was able to fully remove every failed sp update that i have been having issues with as well as the 2007 spam filter packs.
Does anyone have any other stories like this where random obsolete software has actually saved their day?

    8.       In Programs and Features, also remove any iPod Updater applications that are listed in the same fashion as you removed iTunes.
Method 6: You may also try downloading the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run that to remove the leftover ITunes installer files that may be causing issues with your current installation.

When the install process for itunes is running it changes with the error message shows up during install.
    Thanks.
