Windows Installer Infinate Looping When Starting CR XI R2

Post Author: Mark1110

Hi, Our company just got Crystal Reports XI Developer. I installed it on my machine and I noticed there is a newer version Crystal Reports XI R2. I copied it to my machine and installed it. It installed fine, however when I click the icon, the windows installer tries to configure Crystal Reports XI to my machine. I let this run for over an hour but all it does is loop through the same thing. If I click cancel, it does stop after about 4 - 5 times of clicking cancel. I tried twice to uninstall then reinstall the program with the same results. I am using Windows 2000 and Java 1.4.2. After it stops, the program runs just fine. What can I do to stop the windows installer from coming on every time I click on the icon? This only happens for Release 2. The program runs fine by just using the version that came with the CD. Mark

Hello Mark,
This error is most likely caused by a corrupt software download or bad CD.
I recommend :
1.Log in as u2018Computer Administratoru2019
2. Make sure that no anti-virus program or spy ware is running on your machine.
3. Close Crystal Reports XI if it is already running.
4. Manually uninstall Crystal Reports XI from your machine. To do manual un-installation, I would request you to refer to the link given below:
u201C[How to manually uninstall Crystal Reports XIu201D|https://bcp.wdf.sap.corp/sap/sapnotes/display/0001218535]
5. Copy and paste all the installation files from u2018Crystal Reports XIu2019 CD to your local drive of your machine.
6. Install u2018Crystal Reports XIu2019 by running the setup file from your local machine.
7. After successful installation, restart your machine.
8. Open Crystal Reports XI and let me know what happens
Best regards

I am getting "a network error occurred while attempting to read from the file c:\windows\installer\itunes.msi" when I attempt to install itunes.  Can anybody help me to resolve this issue?

You can try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download the iTunes installation
Also try posting in the iTunes forum since it is not an iPod touch problem.

  • Windows Installer error message when installing or removing iTunes

  • Windows Installer package error when installing itunes.

How can I reinstall Apple Software (Update) on my PC which is necessary to reinstall itunes?
Also when I've tried to reinstall itunes I'm constantly told there is a problem with the Windows Installer.  Are there any suggestions?  Thank you for any help that you may be able to advise.

    Let's try a standalone AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi install.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone ASU install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If not, what error message do you get? (Precise text, please.)

  • Windows Installer reports errors when installing iTunes

I have a system with Windows XP. I only have 512MB memory. I have made numerous attempts to install iTunes. I actually had iTunes on the computer previously in conjuction with EZVinyl Converter. I was having problems with that and tried to reload iTunes. The download works fine. When I try to install, I get a message saying, "Windows Installer encountered problems  before iTunes could be configured. I do not know how to fix the problem.
I use Comodo for my antivirus and firewall protection.

Problem was resolved by solutions offered by B Noir. It was necessary to remove the Temp folder in Local Settings for iTunes to install correctly on my Windows XP system. Thanks for your input.

  • Windows installer engine error when installing LV 8.2.1

Trying to install LabView 8.2.1 on a system and getting a "Window Installer Engine" error and the program quits.  The software successfully installed on another system.
I have disabled all other programs and virus scanners.  Any suggestions?
    Thank you,

I think I may have fixed my own problem and will try and list the steps here in case anyone else runs into this.
The computer is networked and we are running network licensing.  I have admin priviledges also on this machine.
We had to have the administrator for the network log on (with the LV installation CD in the drive).  The option was selected to install LV 8.2.1 and then a window appeared notifiying that the system was installing Service Pack 2.
The admin then logged out and I logged back in to my local accout (not my network username and passwor) and the installed worked correctly (whew!).
There were some other password issues whick I don't think were related to this problem.

  • Bootcamp - Windows installation disk won't read

I have a late-2011, 13 inch MacBook Pro and I am running OS X 10.9.3 with all the latest updates. I am trying to use Bootcamp to runs windows but the windows disk isn't be read by my laptop. I run Bootcamp, it downloads the latest support software but when I put the windows installation disk in; it starts to spin up, makes some noises like it is being read, then it ejects the disk. Anybody have this problem, or now a way around it?

I have about 8 different burners on my systems, and some will read DVD's better than others will. On my workstation, I have one LG and one Plextor. The LG does the best, and when it fails, the Plextor usually can read. When this happens, I just do a Copy from the drive that can read the disc, to the other drive, using Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden blank media. If neither can read, I have six others to try. Sometimes, it's just the burner.
One little hint would be to make sure that your burner's firmware is updated to the very latest. That can improve the burner's ability to read from a slightly damaged disc.
Otherwise, contact Adobe. For many programs, they sell replacement media. Do not know if there are version limitations, but one call should give you what is available.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Error 1601 Windows Installer error

Hi, I was trying to update my Adobe Reader and I got error 1601
It said that the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed, and that this can occur if the Windows Installer is not properly installed.
I tried to go get windows installer "fixed" but when I click anything it always seems to be a program that is trying to get me to buy something.
How do I get Windows Installer working properly? Then once I do that, should I re-upload Adobe Reader entirely?

And "that program that wants me to buy something" being? Sounds like you have malware on your system and it's blocking all your installs.

  • Skype Desktop Crash when starting webcam

I got a brandnew dekstop with Windows 8.1 and when starting Skype, it let me log in and then immediately crash. This only happens when the Webcam is active.   I have tried two different webcams, one from logitech and one from Creative and both resulted in the same issue.  When installing an older version of Skype (6.14) it works.
I have applied all Windows patches and updates over the last few days and check all the drivers to make sure there aren't newer drivers available and everything is updated now.   Any other ideas to get Skype to work?
I also ran dxdiag and attach the file if this will help.

  • Want to install Windows 7 to my Mac with Boot Camp, but my laptop's monitor is broken. How could I start the Windows installation through an HDMI video source?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to start a bootcamp installation of Windows 7 though an external monitor using HDMI. Is there anyway to have the installation screen show up on the external monitor? I get stuck at the beginning of the installation due to not being able to use my laptop's primary screen.
    Thanks for the help!

Unless you have a 2010 Mini Server model, your Mini has a built-in Optical drive (Mac mini (Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications).
Can you read the Windows Installer media when booted on OSX? Your DVD media may be corrupt.
If your Optical Drive is functional AND the Windows DVD is readable in OSX Finder, then your installer should work. You will need a USB2  for BC drivers as well.

    Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
    START/CONTROL PANEL/Programs n Features/highlight ASU and click REPAIR,

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
