Windows Installer Message - cannot find .msi file

On boot up windows installer attempts to configure fax and photo gallery. It requests disc but then cannot find .msi file needed. Any ideas how to fix this.

Sorry but if you use delivered recovery media something like this will not asked.
Maybe you are talking about Office installation.

    Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT HD Audio Driver ( this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the PC.

    Hi kingsdown1,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resource below explains what to do if you are having issues installing iTunes for Windows:
Issues installing iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201668
Learn how to resolve issues when installing iTunes for Windows.
Make sure you have an administrator account.
To install iTunes, you'll need to log in to your computer with an administrator password. If you're not sure if you have an administrator account, read Windows 7: How do I log on as an administrator? You could also refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Install the latest Microsoft Windows updates.
To download the latest updates, visit the Microsoft Windows Update website. iTunes for Windows requires Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 with the latest Service Pack installed. If you can’t install the updates, refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Download the latest version of iTunes.
The latest version of iTunes can be downloaded at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
Repair a previously installed version of iTunes.
If iTunes is already installed on your computer:
Search for iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup on your computer.
    Right click on the file.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Choose "Run as administrator."
    Windows XP: Choose Open.
Click and follow the wizard to repair iTunes.
    Remove iTunes from your computer.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and other software components for Windows XP
Remove and reinstall iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Songs you bought from the iTunes Store or imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default. They won't be deleted by removing iTunes.
    Disable conflicting software.
Some Windows background processes can cause issues for other programs and processes. These conflicts can prevent applications, such as iTunes, from installing. Disable conflicting processes by starting your computer using MSConfig:
Using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows XP
Using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
Some security software made by other companies can't be disabled using MSConfig. If you've installed security software and you're having issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows, you might need to disable or uninstall security software to resolve installation issues.
    Restart your computer.
    Install iTunes.

  • Firefox V4 opens Windows error message "Cannot find...."

I updated Firefox to version 4. Now, every time I open Firefox a Windows Error popup appears stating...
    Windows cannot find
    'https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.intl=us&rand=832809823&i=IWZkZHNKIXRzZnNydEpidXV4dSF0ZEqOZHh4fH5iU356YmNYcnM%3d&.src=ym'
In spite of the error message, Firefox proceeds to open normally and takes me to Yahoo.com. Closing the error message has no affect pro or con...so, the message is merely a nuisance. I've tried everything I can think of to permanently remove it with no success. Running a deep scan to find out if it is a virus didn't find anything. Am using XP Home edition. By the way, I get a similar Windows error message when I try to open GMAIL, and Firefox then opens my GMAIL account. Weird.
Am hoping someone can tell me how to prevent these messages from appearing. Thanks in advance!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

When I run the Apple Mobile Device support it says the msi file is missing.  I have tried repairing but that does nothing.  My iPod does not show up in iTunes and in my Computer.

Since this is an actually an iTunes issue and not an issue with an iPod Classic, you would receive much better assistance if you posted your question/issue in the iTunes for Windows forum.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 - I have serial #, lost installation cd, cannot find downloadable files.

I have a license for Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, however, I've lost my installation disc. I was able to download files from Abobe, but when I entered my serial number from my account, it says invalid. I noticed it may be because it says it is the 9 Pro Extended version.
Is this why my serial number is not valid and if so, where can I get the files I need for version 9?
    Thank you!

The only public download is for 9 Pro, not Extended. If you are talking about the latter you will have to see if one of the staff will provide the link to you. If you are looking for Pro, it is at http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html.

  • Cannot find the file 'startWebLogic.cmd"...

I installed to 7.0+Cajun to d:\bea3 as my beahome. I have two other BEA homes d:\bea
and d:\bea2. I made my user-domains folder name to be "domains". Otherwise its
a standard install. I'm on NT.
When I try and start the WLS server from inside Workshop, I get the following
    error message:
"Cannot find the file 'startWebLogic.cmd' (or one of its components). Make sure
the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."
I dismiss the dialog and Workshop will continue showing a progress bar and I have
    to cancel it.
Looks like a standard path problem. Is anyone else getting this out of the box?
Should Workshop.cmd be setting up the path to the sample workshop WLS? An easy
workaround is to start the server manually outside of Workshop.
    PJL

    Actually, Peter and all,
No need to send me the files listed below as I woke up after re-reading your
post. There is an issue we are tracking down with regards to what Mike
Wooten said on an earlier post and those people running on Windows NT4.x
only, seems the start command changed somewhat for the better in Win2K.
If you ARE running on Windows 2000 and you are still seeing the problems
outlined below, please reply back with the files attached and we will get
someone on looking at your issue.
Since this beta is targeted at Win2K and Solaris only, the solution will
have to be starting it from the start menu which you have mentioned
previously. We are tracking this as an issue from beta and will probably
    support NT4 for the GA.
Thanks for letting us know !

    Peter,
Thank you for your question. In order for me to better narrow down the
problem, would you please either post or send me the Jellybeans.properties
file from d:\bea2\weblogic700b\samples\workshop and your .Jellybeans (note
the period at the beginning) from your %systemdrive%\documents and
    settings\%username% folder ?
This information should help us determine what the issue you are running
into is. Other people are seeing this issue out of the box though I have
had trouble reproducing the problem and need some more input to determine
    where it lies.
The installer should be setting the properties for the "start path"
    correctly during install.
    Thanks,
    Art

  • Error message "cannot open resource file" ID CS6

CS6 InDesign, getting error message "cannot find resource file" Tried deleting prefs but didn't work.

I'm sorry. I'm running OS 10.7.5 and had previous error messages about several plugins not loading due to color panel missing. Deleted prefs, added color panel back with Manage Extensions then got the "cannot open resource file" error. I know the error message above is different and I thought I had fixed it but somehow it didn't change when I updated my post. I also have a couple of old versions of CS on my computer and I don't know if I should uninstall those or if it doesn't matter. I don't know how to do that, either. I'm not very computer literate so every problem is difficult for me. Thank you.

  • Error message "The system cannot find the file specified." when reinstalling C3180 drivers

    Hello,
I experienced scanning problems with my C3180 and the error message indicated several solutions, including to reinstall the driver.
I worked my way through the list of fixes to this option.  I uninstalled the drivers, downloaded
    File name:
    AIO_CDA_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe [1/1, 290.27M]
from www.hp.com/support and attempted to install.
Just after the accept licensing screen, the system begins a screen with four steps, the first of which is Checking System.  Shortly after starting this, I receive the error message "The system cannot find the file specified.".  The file name may be in the message header, but I cannot determine it due to the path length.  It is off the displayed screen.  (see screen image capture)
Closing the pop-up error message or clicking OK terminates the installation.

  • RSAT won't install on Windows 8.1 Pro - "The system cannot find the file specified."

Please help. RSAT won't install on Windows 8.1 Pro. Every time I try, I get the same error - "The system cannot find the file specified.". I really don't want to have to refresh the PC to get it working! I've installed the update successfully on
a fresh win 8.1 enterprise install on a Hyper-V VM.
I am in uk, so have installed the en-US language pack first. I did have a windows component store corruption but I've managed to fix that.
    event log says:
Windows update "Update for Windows (KB2693643)" could not be installed because of error 2147942402 "The system cannot find the file specified." (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe"
    "C:\RSAT Windows8.1-KB2693643-x64.msu" ")
    CBS log (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log): http://1drv.ms/19CAv14

As Roger Lu reported, the log indicates that there is corruption in the update files that you downloaded. The log actually reports “file not found”, so you may also want to check permissions on the extracted files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\76ecaa86ec6712300c2d71cbcdad378c\.
You can also re-try downloading the files to see if your original download was just corrupt.

It was a permissions issue! Thanks so much Bruce!
I checked the permissions for the folder mentioned above and TrustedInstaller only had List Folder Contents and Special Permissions. So I granted granted Read & Execute to TrustedInstaller and tried installing again...
    1) double clicked the installer.
    2) once it said Initialisation was complete, I checked the permissions again and it had re-set them to as before, so I granted Read & Execute to TrustedInstaller again
    3) Installation was successful.
Not really sure why this happened as it doesn't make sense but it's working now :-)

  • The system cannot find the file specified.Windows sockets error code:2.

    Hi All,
      I am on MDM 5.5 SP6.
I am getting the following error message when trying to logging in to the DM.
The system cannot find the file specified.Windows sockets error code:2.This application will now exit.
    Runtime Error :
    Program C :\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5\Data Manager\Datamanager.exe

And in console also the MDM server is stopped after getting the above error message.
Can anybody tell me what could be the problem?
    Thanks & Regards
    Sireesha.

    Hi Sireesha,
According to me, there can be 3 problems,
    1. Kindly check whether the MDM server is stopped. If it is, then restart the MDM Server and Load the repository with Update indices.
    2. If this error is coming with every repository, the problem will be either in the Version mismatch of the Server and the GUI's you are using. Kindly ensure that the versions for the MDM server and the MDM Gui's Match.
    3. If only Data manager Client is giving the problem, then you can un-install and install the DM GUI again.
Along with this, please refer to the link below :

    Hope it helps.
