Windows installer won't install iTunes 10.5 Windows Vista 64

Can't install iTunes 10.5 on my operating system. I'm running windows vista home premium 64.
Every time I try, a window installer alert pops up. It says; This installation package could not be,
opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor
To verify that this is a valid windows installer package. I recently had to reinstall my operating system
Using my recovery discs. I got all my updates including service pack 2, but I noticed some updates did not install.
Could that be the issue ? Can anyone help ? Thanks Sam

Repair your Apple Software Update:
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install

I previously ran iTunes 4 with an earlier model iPod. Recently upgraded to iPod for video which was not recognized by iTunes 4. Attempted to download updated iTunes software and continue to be unsuccessful. Here's what happens:
I am able to download both iTunes 7 and QuickTime to my hard drive, but when invoke the respecive .exe files I get the same error message which reads, "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

I have never heard of the respecive.exe file in regards to itunes or ipod. Are you sure you followed the troubleshooting steps word for word? I've had some people read the follow, "Empty your temp folder contents" to mean delete the temp folder. You have to be careful to follow them closely. I still sometimes have to reread some steps only to find out I didn't read it correctly the first time.
With that said, how do you know its a windows installer problem? If you were installing itunes & QT using their standalone installers there won't be a file called respecive.exe for either. You should be launching itunessetup.exe to install itunes (which can possibly contain QT). I forget what the standalone QT installer is called but I know it isn't respecive.exe.
Here are the steps I suggest to people who have trouble installing itunes. Please read them over first and ask a question if something isn't clear.
1. Uninstall itunes and ipod software
2. Reboot your PC
3. Re-download the itunes installer and QT and save this installer to your desktop
4. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations. You should see folders like {06EB3288-C5F4-4C73-8EEE-AC798668FF66}
5. Look in each of these folders for itunes.msi and delete the folder. Be careful to only delete the folders containing itunes,msi
6. Clean out your temp folders, Delete as much as you can in these folders except for the folders Cookies, History, Temporary Internet Files.
a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
7. Go to http://www.download.com/3000-2094-881470.html and download the regcleaner. Unpack it and run it. This is a nice utility that will delete broken registry entries and create a file with them. This way if it deletes anything needed you can add it back. Note I never had to do this with using it for many years. Also it doesn't list XP but you'll be fine. I run XP on both.
8. Reboot your PC.
9. Now try to go and install everything again. I'd do QT first then follow with itunes. Remember to disable virus/firewall/privacy/web accelerators before launching the install.

Itunes installer won't install itunes 7.1 (VISTA)

I unistalled itunes 7.0.2 and tried to install the newest version of itunes. After i allowed windows to start the install a Windows installer window opened and the install process stopped with a window that said 'quicktime did not install. quicktime is a necessary component of itunes.' Anyone out there that can help me?

Windows installer won't install v. 10.5 on laptop-any suggestions?

When windows installer runs download of v. 10.5 it fails to install due to program error. Is there a way to bypass the windows in staler
And install the update to iTunes? Running Windows XP on laptop.

Every time I try to download the new iTunes I get the following error:

Yust Build another Username like "Dummy", give admistration rights, change to this user and install iTunes on this accout. Now you can Return to your Old account an use iTunes.

Windows installer won't format partition correctly.

I'm not very tech minded so Ill try to explain best I can. I am trying to partition mac to install windows.
First step: I use Bootcamp to create the partition, the mac restarts and boots to windows installer. However the product key can't be verified, windows won't help with the issue they say it is valid and its apples problem.
Second step: Im advised by apple support to restart the mac while holding C button, at this point I have the USB drive in and the windows installation disc. The mac boots to windows installer and I enter product key, it accepts the product key. Great that problem is fixed. It now asks me to select the partition I want to install on. I select Bootcamp partition is says the format is GPT partition style. Ok I look for fix on internet it says click the format option for that partition. Warning message saying that it will erase all files on that partition. I click ok and it formats it. The word Bootcamp on the partition is removed. So I select this partition again but windows still says its still in the GPT format even though it has just formatted it. How can I fix this formatting issue ? Also I checked the partiton in disk utility and the format is displayed as NTFS, this is what it should be. However windows just disagrees and keeps telling me its in the GPT format.
Anyone got a fix for this problem formatting problem ?
If not what about a fix for the product key not being verified when doing install through bootcamp, if I can fix that I think bootcamp will sort it all out itself. (Yes I have an internet connection when entering product key before anyone asks)

When installing itunes on my windows XP I get an error message "Service Apple Mobile Device"

When installing iTunes on my Windows XP I get an error message "Service Apple Mobile Device (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". I don't know what this means and I do not know how to resolve it. Can you advise please?

How do I install iTunes with a Windows 7 account that uses parental controls?

I have setup a small computer for my daughter to use, running Windows 7 Home Premium. I've enabled Parental Controls through the control panel. So far, I've been unable to install iTunes for her. If I try running the installer as admin, when I try to run iTunes as her, I eventually get a message telling me that itunes64.msi was rejected by the digital signature policy. If I run the installer as her, I get a message saying the system administrator doesn't allow the app to run; I have added the installer to the list of allowed applications. Anyone know how to install iTunes in this case?

This particular error means that your computer was not able to connect to the Internet when it tried to install updates. First, check your Internet connection and then try again. If that doesn’t work, try the methods below.
Method A: Make sure that Windows Firewall is turned on, and temporarily disable third-party firewalls
Warning This workaround may make a computer or a network more vulnerable to attack by malicious users or by malicious software such as viruses. We do not recommend this workaround but are providing this information so that you can implement this workaround at your own discretion. Use this workaround at your own risk.
To complete this method, follow these steps.
Step 1: Make sure that Windows Firewall is turned on
To open Windows Firewall, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall.
Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Click On (recommended), and then click OK.
Step 2: Temporarily disable third-party firewalls
Click the Start button, click Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, click Review your computer's status.
Click the arrow button next to Security to expand the section.
Under Firewall, read the firewall status note. This information will indicate which, if any, firewall is installed and whether the firewall is turned on. For example, for ZoneAlarm, the notice will say ZoneAlarm Firewall is currently ON.

Mark, I've just been through this update issue with two installations. In my case, it seemed intertwined with authentification and indexing not working, either. Upon a transfer of my system disk to new hardware I got hit with the issue and couldn't fix it. Which is why I did a clean install of Win7 ultimate 64bit on my T61p. The install (including update) worked great until I ran the intel matrix storage manager update. This broke windows update. If you surf the web, and include "intel rapid storage manager" or "intel matrix storage manager" and "Windows update fails", you'll see that a lot of folks feel that the intel driver (or how windows handles it) is what breaks update. I tracked this down to a driver, iastor.sys, in windows\system32\drivers. I was able to fix my Window Update by copying an iastor.sys from another recently built machine (should be exactly the same, but this was my wife's T510, but still Win 7 Pro 64) to overwrite the iastor.sys that the intel update changed. To be clear: I couldn't get windows update or indexing to work. I overwrote* the "bad" iastor.sys with one that worked on another computer. Rebooted. Update worked. I just wanted to point out that instead of blindly installing updates to fix problems, folks should be aware that sometimes the update is the problem. Especially as these systems are off warranty and the drivers are not being updated. I've asked elsewhere, so let me ask here: Where is the System Interface Driver for t61p? Not listed anywhere on site, links on the web referring to it are all broken. Is the System Interface Driver now part of another driver program? Thanks! CAN'T INSTALL ITUNES 9 ON WINDOWS VISTA 64-BIT OS

I'm having a reaaaallly hard time installing iTunes on my Windows Vista 64-bit OS. Everytime I think it's about to finish installing, it shows me this message:
What does it mean?? Can someone PLEASE help me, I haven't had music on my iPhone for 4 weeks now!

Curses ... you did everything right by providing the screenshot, thanks. But we really need to see the error message number that shows up after the "HRESULT" bit for one of those, and it's deciding not show us that.
Okay ... people who get these error messages for iTunes installs typically are also getting Windows updates failures too. So we'll try to work out what the iTunes/Updates issue is by checking your Update history.
Go into your Windows Update and click "Update History". Have updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on each failure to bring up a small window showing some info about the failure.
What error message codes are you getting for the Windows Updates failures? (For example, 0x8007000B, or something else?)
