Windows iTunes Over a Network -- Changing Default location of preferences

I work on a laptop computer and I installed iTunes sussesfully at my office. The computer is set to use the server as my default "My Documents" folder. I did make a directory for iTunes misic in "C:iTunes" so all my music is local. When i try to use itunes while not connected to the network i get an error messsage saying it can't start up because it can't access the network folder where "My documents" are located.
So my question is can you force itunes to put those preferences/setting files somewhere else?
Thanks for your help.

  • Changing Default Location of MY PICTURES folder in Windows 7

    Hi Guys
    I have noticed that in Windows 7 the 'MY Pictures' folder is no longer a sub-section of the 'My Documents' Folder.  I have moved my 'My documents' and 'Desktop' folders within my user profile to a NEW location (another partition) but would like to know how this is now done for the 'My Pictures' Folder also ?
    Normally it would move with the 'My Documents' folder but, as I have said above, the 'My Pictures' now seems to be a separate entity to 'My Documents' as a whole.
    Thansk

    The answer you are looking for can be found at: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/move-my-pictures-to-different-location/ and is where I acquired the information below.
    One way Windows helps you organize your files is to direct different kinds of content to different locations. There’s a Music folder, a Videos folder, a Saved Games folder, and a Pictures folder. Put all your digital pictures in your Pictures folder,
    for example, and that’s where most photo applications will prompt you to open and save your files.
    And as explained in the previous section, Windows Explorer will be more likely to display your pictures as thumbnails if they’re in the Pictures folder (or a subfolder thereof). But what if you don’t want to put your pictures there? Previously,
    I wrote about how you can
    change the location of the My Documents folder , but what if you only want to move the My Pictures folder?
    Since years of digital photos can take up gobs of hard disk space, many people have started storing their pictures (as well as their music) on second hard disks, and it can be a pain to have to manually switch to the new location each time you need to open
    or save a file. The solution is to tell Windows where your Pictures folder ought to be, a
    task that requires a quick Registry modification (make sure to
    backup the registry first):
    1. Open the Registry Editor by running “regedit”
    2. Expand the branches to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders then choose
    My Pictures :
    3.  To edit the value, double click the “My Pictures” registry entry and enter a new path of the My Pictures directory:
    For example, to change to “D:\Pictures”, enter that path to the value data field then click OK:
    The change should take effect immediately, but you may have to restart any open applications before they’ll recognize the new location. To test the change, open Microsoft Paint (mspaint.exe), and select File > Open.  The default folder should
    be the path you entered above.

  • Change Default Location

    I have about 7 projects saved in the RoboHelp projects
    default location on my desktop. I want to change that to a folder
    in My Documents so that the projects will sync to the AD server for
    backup. I don't see a way to do that, though.
    Thoughts?

    I can give you plenty of thoughts, most of which would start
    with "Don't go there!"
    You should never, ever have your RH source files
    located on your desktop or in the My Documents folder unless you
    want to suffer unmentionables at some point in the future. The
    reason for this is that in the corporate world, IT Departments
    network these areas to allow you to logon to any PC and use your
    data. The only problem with this approach is that RH uses an Access
    database as part of every project and these babies are prone to all
    sort of problems when run over a network.
    It is good practice to create a folder off your C: drive
    (e.g. C:\RHSource) and to have all your projects in there. All you
    need to do is move them using Windows Explorer and then change the
    output destination of the single source layouts you use.

  • How do I change default location for file downloads, as in not "C" drive

    Unsure where to make to changes so my downloads will go to another hard drive instead of the "C" drive under documents.

    ausing Firefox 8.0 with Windows 7 64-bit, I could not locate to area where I change
    the default location within Internet Options. Used to work fine under Windows XP.
    Any idea where this default is set under this application?

  • Iphoto 11 changed default location for pictures

    Before upgrading to iphoto 11, the default location for uploading pictures used this (using a picture taken on July 31, 2011 as an example): iphotolibrary/masters/2011/July 31, 2011/[filename].  Now when I upload pictures, it goes to a completely different file location: iphotolibrary/masters/2011/07/31/[numbers]/[filename] and when I close and reopen iphoto, those new pictures do not show up, though the files are in the "new" location.  Other than wanting to know why iphoto made these frustrating changes, the bottom line is how do I either change the default upload location so that it's back to what it was in the previous version, or how do I otherwise get iphoto to recognize the new default location?

    1. You don't change anything inside the Library package. You'll trash the Library if you do. (Those numbers are the date and time of import, by the way)
    2. Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • Printing to shared windows printer over wireless network

    Hi,
    I just bought my wife a MacBook and recently updated it to Leopard (OS X 10.5). I have a Lexmark X5150 printer connected to a desktop PC running Windows XP. I can share files between the two computers no problem either wirelessly or through an ethernet connection through my router. But, I'm having troubles accessing the shared printer through the Macbook wirelessly. If I connect the printer directly to the Macbook, I can add the printer with appropriate drivers no problem. However, when I try to add the printer as Windows shared printer, the appropriate driver doesn't show up in the drop down list. I can navigate to and find the printer over the network fine, but I just can't find the right driver. I'm a newbie to Mac and was wondering if there is anyway to find the driver using Finder or something similar to determine where it physially resides on the Mac. I know it's there because it is automatically selected when I directly connect the printer to the Macbook and add the printer. Any thoughts??

    Couldn't figure things out, so I'll just stick with connecting the printer directly to the macbook.

  • Change default location of Ircat?

    On pc. Is there a way to change the default location of the database (Ircat). I noticed it is in my "C" drive. I have a separate partition for data, which is where I would like LR to point the database. Genereally with Adobe products this would be done in preferences - scratch disk type area. I know I can export the db, but everytime I use LR, would it make a new Ircat in it's default location?

    The lrcat and lrdata files need to be in the same folder, and this folder can be placed on any of your internal or externally connected drives. Once the database is placed where you want it you can simply double click the lrcat file to launch Lightroom. Next time you launch Lightroom it should automatically find the correct database.
    See attached screenshot for correct preference setting

  • Change "Default" location for chart legend

    Hi,
    By default, when you create a chartthe legend appears to the right of the chart itself. As a company all of our legends are at the top. Is there anyway to set the default location to be top rather than right?
    Thanks

    Ex post you can do mass manipulation with catalog manager. But I assume you're looking for an ex ante solution and that's more tricky. The controlling tag
    <saw:legendFormat position="top"/>is nested within the saw:view
    <saw:view xsi:type="saw:staticchart" name="staticchart!1" rptViewVers="200510010">
             <saw:template tid="charts/column.cxml"/>
             <saw:selections>
                <saw:categories>
                   <saw:category position="0">
                      <saw:column columnID="c1"/></saw:category></saw:categories>
                <saw:measures>
                   <saw:column columnID="c0" position="0"/></saw:measures>
                <saw:seriesGenerators>
                   <saw:measureLabels/></saw:seriesGenerators></saw:selections>
             <saw:canvasFormat/>
             <saw:legendFormat position="top"/></saw:view></saw:views></saw:report>I don't think you can change that with an adaption of the answerstemplates.xml like you would for view properties. Anyone has any idea of how to default an attribute of a child object of a view? Stijn? John?

  • Change default location of Product Installer Files

    I have a hard drive with multiple partitions and would prefer my installers go to a different drive when copied to my computer i.e. some place other than <ProgramData>\National Instruments\MDF\ProductCache.
    1) Can I change this default location?
    2) If not, is there any harm in just moving the directory manually and keeping things in another location myself (pathing issues)?
    I believe I will just have to browse on disk now when building installers because LabVIEW won't find things if they aren't located at the default path, but I'm fine with this.

  • Change default location of the Status Bar

    I like the status bar being small and in the corner but I want to shift the default location to the right side instead of the left. Is there a way to do this?
    I tried looking in the about:config but I didn't find anything.

    Try downloading [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/ Status 4-Evar]. There is a screenshot that says Status text. First screenshot. I'm assuming you can move it around.
    I haven't tried this personally though so just mess around with it and if it doesn't work, come back here.
