Windows Journal on iPad

Is the iPad able to run the Windows journal application or something very similar whereby you use a stylus and write on full A4 sized pages? I am used to using an IBM Thinkpad Tablet pc and used Windows Journal daily for recording meetings with clients. The functionality enables very easy retrieval of written notes for your normal file structure. When I asked about this on the high street I was shown an application that looked just like a notebook and a stylus as thick as my finger- no nib!! Other features of the iPad are attractive but it is no use for business for me if I can't achieve what I could in Windows Journal- can anyone advise??? Thank you

Ok, thanks. It sounds as though you use it for different purposes to what I require. I do need something which can accomodate large volumes of A4 written pages- for example I can sometimes write 15-20 pages of A4 in just an hour. Being able to save my notes in a robust filing system, for example based around clients and different projects within each client folder is also important to me. Doesn't sound like I am going to be in luck- I'll probably be heading back to an IBM tablet with Stylus and Windows Journal

  • I need an app that reads Windows Journal format .jnt

HI, we use Windows Journal extensively & sometimes need to share docs with others using iPads. Trouble is, there doesn't seem to be an app that reads .jnt

On the Windows machine, print the JNT to PDF.

  • Is there any way to log in to a windows domain from iPad?

My school has both a windows network and iPads.  Until recently all worked fine except there has now been a county-wide internet policy change.  To connect from the school network to the internet there is now a lightspeed gateway.  Now this is fine on the windows PC as each child's log in credentials automatically pass to the lightspeed server to allow internet access.
On the iPads though the situation is almost bad enough to render them useless.  To use any app that requires internet access you have to log in in either Safari or K9 browser (the education authority's prefered browser).  The connection then drops out if the iPad goes into standby.
Is there any app that would allow the children to log on using their windows credentials when the iPad starts up and keeps them connected until they log out?  This would make life so much easier - I managed to work out all the connection issues on my own but these children are under 8, expecting them to understand all this is unreasonable.

    Oh Lightspeed.
And no there isn't for what you asked - through AD, have you looked at Mobile Manager in Lightspeed? I didn't want our school getting Lightspeed so I haven't used it - I don't know how much control and flexability it has.

  • Windows Journal cannot open " ". An unexpected error occurred in Windows 7 Professional

I copied my Windows Journal Notes from a tablet with Windows XP Tablet PC edition onto my Windows 7 Computer.  When I try to open a note from the pull down "look-in" menu within the Windows Journal program, I gives me the error
"Windows Journal Cannot open.  An unexpected error occurred."  I thought this was a problem with my computer, BUT have replicated this same error on every computer in Best Buy and other computer stores.  This is not a problem with
my personal notes.  This is a problem with the coding of the Windows Journal Software on Windows 7 and 8.  It was also tested on a Vista computer with the same error.
Please, if someone knows how to fix this problem please let me know.  I use Windows Journal exclusively on a tablet PC for my business and am afraid of upgrading from XP to Windows 7 or 8 unless I can see that the Win7 version of JOURNAL works properly
as the WinXP Tablet edition of Win Journal.
Note: I have tried recreating user profiles, sfc.exe, cleanboot, safe mode, chkdisk.... all failed.  THE PROBLEM I BELIEVE IS THE ACTUAL CODE that is written for Windows Journal.  ALL notes can be opend by hitting FILE-OPEN.  However, if you
go to the "view recent notes" button and click on the "look-in" pull down menu within the Windows Journal program, you can not open the file through this.  Because of the way I do my business, I need to look up various files quickly
and write notes after opening each note from the "look-in" pull down menu.
    Please Help.

The problem seems to be that the "look-in" menu doesn't open the files which are located in the "Notes" folder.  If I open the files through windows explorer in windows 7, the file opens into windows journal and appears in the look-in menu.
Another interesting thing occurs if you create an additional folder under my documents.  I tested this on various computers in an electronic store:  Windows Journal was working fine with the "look-in" menu; I was able to open various journal note
documents.  Then, once I created another folder under My Documents and tried to open a journal note in that folder and then go back to the "notes" folder, I was able to replicate the same error message.
In short, it seems that once a new folder is created, the original folder "Notes" as well as the new folder, both do not allow for the files within them to be opened through the "look-in" menu.  However, they may be opened from hitting FILE, then OPEN.
But, the "look-in" and Browse menu doesn't work.
Also, I looked in the Event Viewer and couldn't find anything in particular related to Win Journal.  Please tell me what and where specifically to look in the Event Viewer --- I can't seem to find anything related to Windows Journal errors in the Event
    Viewer.
    Thank you.

If you mean .wma files, sure. But you have to import them into iTunes before you can sync them to your device. All music has to go through iTunes.

  • Access a windows folder on ipad

Is there a way to copy a set of files (.doc, .xls, .pdf, .jpg etc) and folders from windows PC to ipad and access them on ipad.

If you wish to access them, you will  first need an app to do that.  DocsToGo and QuickOffice are two of the mainstream MS-Office-document compatible apps in the App Store.  To transfer files to them, DocsToGo uses a free companion desktop app to sync with the app on your iOS device.  QuickOffice uses an embedded web server - you enable it on the iOS device, then open a browser on your computer, go to the indicated URL:port# and upload/download the files as needed.
DocsToGo will also interface with google docs, dropbox, box.net and a couple of other services.

  • Windows Journal Keeps Crashing

Just today my windows journal keeps crashing.  Every time I launch the software it stops responding immidiately.  I also can't use the windows journal printer.  Both of these functionalities are crucial to my use of my new computer.  I have a brand new Thinkpad Yoga running Windows 8.  I cannot seem to find any documentation on how to uninstall or reinstall Microsoft Tablet PC applications in windows.  I also don't know how Lenovo provides access to windows install media.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm a college teacher and the loss of this functionality has left me somewhat crippled for producing certain documents I use in my classes.

This is happening to me too!  Very frustrating.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Microsoft community boards have been no help at all!

How to transfer pictures from computer ( Windows 7) to iPad with Retina display ?

Note that, if you use iTunes to sync photos onto the iPad, you'll need to use iTunes to take them off.
if you don't have a lot and want to keep deletability, you may want to consider mailing them to yourself, or uploading them to something like dropbox, then downloading them (via the dropbox app) to your iPad.
there are also several photo syncing apps out there that may suit your needs. Afraid I don't have any to recommend. But syncing via iTunes isn't the only way to get photos onto your iPad..it's just the  built in way
