Windows Live Mail and Mac Mail

Hi,
I have Windows Live Mail up and running nicely through Mac Mail (I have just switched from PC to Mac). However I'm wondering what's the right way to sync them fully. I mostly access email through Mac Mail now but whenever I need to access Hotmail through the web, all the msgs I have read or deleted earlier are still showing as unread.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I see no one else has answered so I’ll try to get the ball rolling and maybe others will chime in.

Syncing Yahoo Mail and Mac Mail

I upgraded to Yahoo Mail Pro in order to use my Yahoo Mail through Mac Mail. When I delete an email through Safari/Yahoo, Mac Mail does not reflect that. How can I sync the two so that what I do in one occurs in the other? Further, for some reason all but four of my emails got deleted out of my Safari/Yahoo account. How the heck did that happen?

You can't. Yahoo Plus only offers POP access. To do what you want, you'll need an email provider who offers email via IMAP.

Mail and .Mac Mail

Hi.
I am switching over to .Mac mail and I think I have have done something wrong. I have a gmail account too, but I'd rather just use one (.Mac) account.
After I draft an email in OSX mail, I then select which server to use to send the email. My gmail outgoing server works fine but the .Mac sever in the dropdown box says (offline) all the time and therefore doesn't work.
Any idea what I have done wrong?

Changing the port didn't help me. What did help was in Mail-preferences deleting the smtp-connection and maually add a new one (with the same name/ip and port). After that sending mail worked as good as in 10.4

Desk top mail and .Mac Mail

I am using my desk top mail and my .Mac mail, when my .Mac Mail syncs it updates my .Mac desk top G4 and my .Mac power book lap top but it does not sync my mail account. Should Mail be automatically updated when I sync the .Mac address or do I have to updated Mail independently.

Hello Mike.
A .Mac type account is really an IMAP type account and behaves in the same way.
If you are accessing your .Mac account as a .Mac type account with the Mail.app on both Macs, messages in the account's Inbox mailbox on the server are kept synchronized with the account's Inbox mailbox with the Mail.app on both Macs automatically.
With the Mail.app on both Macs, you can also store Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk messages on the server and after doing so, these mailboxes/messages will also be kept synchronized with the server with the Mail.app on both Macs automatically.
With the Mail.app on either Mac, if you move messages from the account's Inbox mailbox to a user created "On My Mac" location mailbox which is stored locally on the hard drive, this process saves the transferred messages locally on the hard drive and removes the messages from the server at the same time. Messages removed from a server stored mailbox to a locally stored mailbox will no longer be kept synchronized with the Mail.app on another Mac since the messages are no longer located in a server stored mailbox.

Windows Live Hotmail on Mac Mail

I've recently created a new hotmail account, and it's one of the new "live" kind. Are there any ways to operate it from Mail?? I tried both with the fttpmail (and it doesnt work), and the POP account (and this one wont even set up).
Any ideas??

The only accounts that work with the Mail application are ones that accept POP accounts. As far as I know, hotmail does not support POP accounts.

Windows Live Hotmail and Apple Mail

Hey,
So I'm using HTTPMail. But...it just doesn't work. Is it only supporting @hotmail.com accounts or does it support others such as @msn.com and @live.whatever
It clearly talks to the server - as it tells me when I have an incorrect password, but it just doesn't download the mail. Any suggestions?

"As of June 30th 2008, my plugin will cease to function as Microsoft has decided to terminate HTTPMail (also known as WebDav) protocol access. They have replaced this protocol has been replaced by a new one called DeltaSync. Unfortunately DeltaSync is undocumented and uses non-standard compression and encryption of message data. Until these issues can be resolved there is nothing I can do to fix my plugin.
If you have a Hotmail Plus account you should still be able to access your mail using the POP3 protocol. The details for setting up POP3 access is as follows.
Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com (port 995)
Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com (port 25)
Username: your full hotmail email address
NOTE: the outgoing mail server requires authentication "

Mail and .mac mail not working

Well, I've sent 3 emails to customer service to no avail, so hopefully someone else on these inter-tubes is having the same problem. 3 days ago my mail stopped working. Mail on my Mac continually says my password has been rejected. OK, Mail sometimes is flaky. I can live with that (for now), but I also can't get email from a web browser. I can log in just fine and dandy. Bookmarks? Check. iWeb web sites? Check. iDisk, iCards, iCal? Check, check, and check. Mail? "Your information could not be displayed. Click here to try again." I've clicked "here" more times than Steve Jobs says "Amazing" at a keynote. I've tried on several different computers all with the same results. If anyone can help I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks! FYI, I have had this account since iTools.

Yahoo Mail and Mac mail

Can anyone help?
I have had a macbook for over a year and successfully used its mail program with yahoo mail.
Over the past week, I cannot send email. I receive everything fine but cannot send or reply.
Account work fine from iphone.
I have tried changing server/smtp bits and security with no avail. I have even re-installed the program to see if that helps.
Any suggestions?

Try manually setting up the account—when you enter your address & password, hold down the Option key when you click Continue. That will allow you to specify manual server settings. Try these settings. I don't know if Yahoo Mail requires a password authentication for its SMTP server.
You can also try contacting Yahoo directly.

Windows live mail and yahoo mail account missing

both my windows live hotmail and yahoo acoount keeps going missing after the setup..it keeps prompting me to go the the mail set up page and i have to do the mail configuration all over again.
this only occur recently. is there a solution?

Hi Linc, I started setting up my new computer a few months ago so don't remember the details. I did not use migration assistant, nor do I wish to, I believe it was set up through icloud. Now that I needed my calendar while doing taxes I discover there are no events for 2014 and earlier (except 2 oddly enough). I do remember that iCloud instructions were not clear as to what would happen in the choices it gave.
I copied my old user files over from my external back up after my old computer stopped working, was hoping I could put ical folders in the right place to be used by Calendar or import somehow.

Using yahoo mail with outlook and mac mail

I previously used entourage on my OS 10.6.8 mac but I have upgraded to os 10 and office 2011 with outlook. When I set up outlook will yahoo mail messages only be accessible on the original device that opens them? I have an iMac desktop with outlook, a Macair using mac mail and a Samsung tablet using yahoo mail. I have noticed that when using mac mail only on the iMac and Macbookair, to get yahoo mail and yahoo mail on the tablet. I can only see my yahoo mail messages on the first device that opens the yahoo mail account. I have Yahoo mail plus. I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

Downloading of emails via webmail, iPhone and Mac Mail

I currently access emails from my ISP via three avenues. I use webmail when I'm in the office, iPhone on the go and Mac Mail at home. However, I will end up seeing the same emails three times. Even after deleting unwanted emails from my webmail, they will still appear in iPhone and Mac Mail when I access emails and vice versa. Has this anything to do with the POP or IMAP settings? I have set my ISP email on iPhone and Mac Mail under POP. I have ever tried to change the POP to IMAP with same results.

How do I make Mac mail and iOS Mail sync to each other with a google apps (not traditional gmail) mail account?

I have a google apps mail account in the form [email protected] I have successfully set up both my mac (A1342) Mail and my iPhone (5c) mail so I get my account on both devices. However, when I read an email on my iphone, it remains unread on my mac (and vice versa). But if I read an email on either, the copy in my Gmail inbox on the web is correctly changed to read. How do I set up my mac Mail and iOS mail so they interact with eachother?
I am running OSX 10.9 and iOS 7.

Set the account (on the Mac) as an Imap account, it seems as though it is currently set as POP.
