Windows live mail and syncing to ipad2.

I am new to apple and new to the ipad 2.  It is going well, leanring different things about the i pad.  One thing I have been trying to find infor.on, is that what to do to fix the problem of getting my email contacts to the i pad using icloud.  Apparently icloud cannot sync the contacts from windows live mail to the i pad2, (or iphone for that matter)  , at least that is what I gathered from reading and researching   What would be the best way to remedy this?  Is there a different emial program I could use on my windows 7 computer to make this work the way it should?  Hope my questions is not too confusing, and thanks in advance for any help.

  • Windows live mail and yahoo and iphone 4s

I have a business account with a yahoo.mail address. I rarely access this account through google etc so the most up to date contacts folders and emails are all accessed on my laptop through windows live mail.  I just go an iphone 4s and naturally when I set up my yahoo account it has gone in to the yahoo account and downloades 5000 emails from the past few years!!! I deleted the whole thing off my phone and then went in to my yahoo account and deleted all the emails but how do I transfer all my current information from windows live mail/yahoo account onto my phone and/or my yahoo account on the yahoo website.

Google is a search engine, so I think you mean checking your Yahoo account via webmail access using a browser.
Since a Windows Live Mail account is completely seperate from a Yahoo account, I'm not sure how you are accessing your Yahoo account with your Live Mail account. If Live Mail includes an option to link with your Yahoo account, deselect it.
You can access your Yahoo account as an IMAP account with the iPhone's Mail app. When creating the account, select the Yahoo account preset and follow the prompts. The account will be created as a Yahoo account when using the Yahoo account preset. This provides push access for received messages, and over the air syncing for your Yahoo online contacts, calendar events, reminders, and notes.
A Live Mail account can be accessed as an Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail app, which provides push access for received messages, and over the air syncing for your Live Mail online contacts and calendar events. You should be able to get instructions for doing so via Microsoft's Live Mail website - the help area, or do a Google search for accessing a Live Mail account as an Exchange account with the iPhone.

  • Windows Live Mail and Mac Mail

    Hi,
I have Windows Live Mail up and running nicely through Mac Mail (I have just switched from PC to Mac). However I'm wondering what's the right way to sync them fully. I mostly access email through Mac Mail now but whenever I need to access Hotmail through the web, all the msgs I have read or deleted earlier are still showing as unread.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Helen

I see no one else has answered so I’ll try to get the ball rolling and maybe others will chime in.
First, I am not familiar with Windows Live Mail so I can’t guarantee to give directions to get you there from here but I’m sure there is a way.  Some Googling found these paths:
A tutorial on the process (transferring mail and contacts):

  • Can Windows Live Mail be synced with my iPad?

My mail account is with Comcast; however I view my mail in Windows Live on my PC. I am able to view the mail on my iPad e-mail app, also. My problem is getting it to sync. I can't get my contacts to copy to my iPad and when I delete an e-mail from my PC, it remains on my iPad. If my understanding of the whole syncing process is correct, I thnk once I delete from my PC it should be gone from my iPad. Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to sync Windows Live with my iPad?

Comcast does not support imap. Personally I would leave them just for that if I didn't for crappy and overpriced service 10 years ago.
There are two problems you are dealing with right now. One with pop accounts sync of the mail is going the way you noticed. There is a way to adapt settings and there are instructions here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228
I didn't find for windows live, but you can try use "windows mail" once you see you will get the gist of it. You want to keep mail on the server for 7 days. It will give you time to download mail to both and then deleting should sync.
Second problem are your contacts. At that time sync with windows live is not supported. If windows live mail however put your contacts inside of your "windows contacts" folder then you can get itunes to sync those. Search location of that folder for your Windows on Google. Check if you see your contacts inside and then sync using regular itunes sync.

  • Problems with setting up my ISP's mail server in Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird

The laptop is a G60-535DX with Windows 7  64 bit. I've managed to setup my gmail account fine in Live Mail, but when setting  up my ISP' mail server, it doesn't work. I get the message that the information was entered correctly, and I see the 'connecting' at the bottom of the page, and then 'error', and clicking on it shows a socket error #10061. In Thunderbird, I get a timeout error message. I've entered all the incoming and outgoing server information correctly, (I've done this over 8-9 times now), the ports are the defaults(110,25), no SSL, no authentication. I've talked with my ISP several times. Just a couple of hours ago was the last time. Their only other possibilities were that Live Mail had problems with setting up more than one account, that Live Mail needed updating, that Windows 7 was a new operating system and there were 'kinks'. I removed the gmail account, set up the ISP's mail by itself; didn't help. I checked for Live Mail updates, but found out that they all come from Windows updates(which are current).  The folks on PCQ&A inform me that they have 3 or 4 accounts with Live Mail. I can get my mail, by logging onto my ISP's website, but that' kind of a nuisance. I posted this in Seven Forums and they didn't have any ideas. As I said, I also can't get my mail server to work in Thunderbird, either.  I don't know what else to try. (short of activating the recovery partition and starting from scratch). Any ideas would be more that welcome.
    Thanks,
    Steve

Nevermind, it's fixed. One of the guys on PCQ&A suggested going to my ISP's website to see if they had a support page. They did and it stated that under certain circumstances that for the login ID the whole email address should be entered. For XP and Outlook Express one only uses the first part of the email address (your name); so just for grins I entered the whole address, name and all and everyting worked. Called my ISP and was told that that wasn't the way it's supposed to work. Well----
    Thanks anyway,

  • How can I get two lines mail list like Windows Live Mail and How can I get to, cc, bcc lines like Windows Live Mail?

I wish to move Thunderbird. But i have two main problem.
    * I want two lines mail lis like Live Mail,
    * I want to, cc, bcc line like Live Mail. I mean when, I write an e-mail address I will key "," (or another character) then I will enter next email address. Auto address completion must work for each address which I enter the address line.
Can i do those on Thunderbird?
I searched on the internet and there are much people who want this features.
    Thanks..

I see the dropdown menus for CC and BCC, but they don't work. I click on them and there is no response except the name I already had in the "TO" field disappears! The attached screenshots shows the name in the "to" field, then the result after choosing "add CC" - the "to" name disappears.

  • I've downloaded Firefox 4, now cannot access Windows Live Mail and have spent many hours trying to resolve including uninstalling, system restore etc etc

I have a Sony Vaio Desktop (ie high spec) and have not had any software problems until I downloaded FF 4 and lost my WLM. I've tried so many ways to try to resolve this. The Sytem Restore is not working - ebven though I created a restore point for 4 May and disabled all the security settings etc.
I can access my WLM account on my work PC - but note that the address list has gone.
Really grateful for your help - thanks.

Update:  I tried the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" after everything else either fizzled out or hung up. After going all the way thru the recovery process (up to 100%), I finally got an error message.....it didn't work. And now, when I fire up the computer, I don't even get to that menu with the recovery options....the only thing I can boot into is the screens with the various ways to run your OS (in "safe mode", "safe mode with networking", etc).
I'm not a techie, but I'm guessing at this point, the part of my hard drive that got damaged in the fall was, at the very least, the partition with the recovery data. Couple that with the fact that this cheapo Toshiba laptop didn't even come with recovery disk (or ANY kind of disk, even basic installation software!), I'm screwed: I don't see any way to get a workable computer now without some kind of disk to boot from. So NOW my concern is more about spending the $$ for a new OS and THEN finding out the hard drive has other problems too...is broken in some other way to boot.
How to check this? As I said, I did run "chkdsk" back when I could get into the recovery menu and run the fix-it programs. It didn't note any problems. Thinking of taking this opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (which I never liked), but I have to know that the computer is otherwise ok....how to be sure? Help!!

  • Sync PC Suite and Windows Live Mail - Possible?

I had Microsoft Microsoft Outlook and Nokia PC Suite in Sync.
But I've changed my Laptop and now I have Windows Live Mail and Outlook
    Express
I'm using only the Windows Live Mail, that has a calendar also.
When I install Nokia PC Suite, it says that it syncs with Outlook

    I am fed up!!!
Apparently Nokia is not listening to their customers and instead diverts them to a damn Nielsen forum to write down all their frustration and needs again and again.
Why is it so complicated to provide an easy syncing tool between Windows Live Mail calendar and the N8 and C7 or E52 phones i.e. their built-in calendars (e.g..). Yes Nokia, I have bought all three phones within a time span of 5 months and have NOW FINALLY DECIDED to end my Nokia-sympathy due to lack of listening support. It comes as a joke that the internet is full of grief towards this standard problem and that none seems capable to do something. Apparently none wants to do anything as the whole situation looks like a "friendly agreement" between Nokia and Microsoft. They call it Marketing, I call it short-term-wannabe-software- regulation-policy as an aim to support, e.g. Outlook!!!
Goodbye Nokia. I'll turn to Apple! Please excuse my frustration

  • ITunes for Windows 7 64 bit, Windows Live Mail Contacts not (all?) syncing

I have researched this as much as I can but cannot find a solution.
I had my iPhone 4 synced to my Window Vista Home Premium PC using iTunes just fine until January when the PC motherboard crashed. No data was lost and all contacts have been restored to my new PC with is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). My contacts are in Windows Live Mail (Windows Contacts) and I'm syncing via iTunes with "Sync Contacts with: Windows Contacts" selected.
However, not all contacts are syncing with my iPhone. In fact, I'm not sure they are syncing at all, although the sync function goes through. It may be that the only ones that sync are those that existed before the new PC (i.e., the Windows Vista contacts which were in Windows Mail). I have created new contacts on both the PC using the new version Windows Live Mail and on the iPhone since the crash, and would like to get them synced up.
    Symptoms:
    1) Some specific contacts on PC are not on the iPhone after multiple sync attempts.
I have so far positively identified one contact that did not sync. It shows in Windows Live Mail under Contacts, however it does NOT show up in my Windows username/Contacts folder!
    2) One Contacts group on PC is not on the iPhone, although two others are (they probably were from before the crash).
I have so far positively identified one group that did not sync. It shows in Windows Live Mail under Contacts groups, however it does NOT show up in my Contacts folder as a .group file!
    3) The same group as #2 also does NOT show up in the iTunes group list under "Selected Groups" on iTunes, but the other two groups do. (I do not use "selected groups" because that disables "all contacts" syncing, but the groups are visible grayed out on the list.)
    4) As a test, I created a new contact on my iPhone, synced, and it shows up now in Windows Live Mail Contacts; it also shows up in my Windows username/Contacts folder.
    5) As a test, I created a new contact in Windows Live Mail and it does NOT show up in my username/Contacts folder. I synced the iPhone again and it does NOT show up on my iPhone contacts.
OK folks, where are these missing contacts going and how can I get them synced??  Thanks!
PS: I have the latest iTunes 10.5.3.3, no updates are available. However, Apple Support/iTunes seems to suggest Windows 7 64 bit either "does not use Windows Contacts" (which seemed quite wrong until I ran the tests above), and also that Windows 7 64 requires iTunes 10.4.1, which I cannot install because I have a later version installed. I would have assumed the correct version installed for my OS when I installed iTunes on the new PC. iTunes runs fine by itself and in coordination with my iPhone other than the above issue.
PPS: This site seems potentially relevant, however is highly technical: http://liveunplugged.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/windows-live-mail-contacts-databas e/
but doesn't help with this problem.

I didn't get any help on this from the forum, but from studying around and experimenting with different approaches, I have come up with the following conclusions:
Under Windows Vista, Windows Mail synced its contacts with Windows Contacts [which are in c:\users\username\contacts]. iPhone via iTunes synced with Windows Contacts. Changes to either Windows Mail Contacts or iPhone contacts would always update each other. Life was good.
Under Windows 7, Windows LIVE Mail (WLM) does NOT sync its contacts with Windows Contacts. It puts them into a hidden database. If you have prior Windows Contacts and brought them along for the ride, they are still there in the folder but they are not connected to the WLM contacts database
When you first set up Windows Live Mail, you can import your Windows Contacts and they appear to be synced. (In fact, they are, but only at that single point in time.)
If you change any Windows Live Mail contact or add a new one, it does NOT change in Windows Contacts. It only changes in the WLM contacts database. It therefore does NOT sync to your iPhone.
Similarly, if you change a contact on iPhone or add a new one, it will sync with Windows Contacts. However, this does NOT update your Windows Live Contacts.
So, from what I can tell, here is what this means: to maintain a steady state, you have two choices:
Whenever you update or add a contact, add it in either iPhone or Windows Contacts [the Windows Contacts folder has a "New Contact" button], and they will stay in sync with each other. Then manually update or add it in Windows Live Contacts to keep those up to date so you can use them for e-mail.  OR
Whenever you update or add a contact, add it in either iPhone or Windows Contacts, and they will stay in sync with each other. DO NOT manually update Windows Live Contacts, but realize they are not always up to date. If an address needed for an e-mail is not in there, manually retrieve it from your Windows Contacts or your iPhone and insert it into the e-mail. [Having done that, you can right click on the address in the e-mail and add it to your WLM contacts if you want.] Periodically, manually delete all of your Windows Live Mail Contacts and then re-import your Windows Contacts into Windows Live Mail and, voila, your contacts are in sync again! (Isn't that great, I mean really awful??)
NOTE: If you follow course #2, DO NOT import your Windows Contacts into Windows Live Mail contacts without deleting your existing Windows Live Mail contacts, or you will end up with a double set plus the new ones.
FURTHER NOTE: I obviously can't make any guarantee you won't lose data if you follow course #2. Be sure you have a complete backup before deleting your WLM contacts. However, I will say that after experiencing a double set of WLM contacts (by failing to understand the first NOTE above), it was impossible to pick out the new items [WLM will now show you the date of entry or modification of the contact, so you can't sort by date], so I deleted all of them and re-imported my Windows Contacts and had a complete set again.
AND ONE FINAL NOTE: I have not tested how any of this affects Windows Live Contacts used online outside of Windows Live Mail, because I do not use Windows Live online.
Please post further comments if you have any more information on this topic.

  • Syncing Ipad mail to Windows Live Mail on a Dell Laptop

I am trying to sync my boss's email through his multiple devices for him. He has an Ipad, an Iphone and a Dell Laptop. He has set up the email account (which is an imap account) on all the devices and it works from all of them. However, if he sends an email in one, it does not appear in the sent folder on a different device. How do I get the mail to sync so that every sent/received mail is visible from all the devices?
Also on a different matter, he also has an old pop3 account. Is it possible to change it to an IMAP account without losing the email address? Would I have to delete it and start again?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Actually I don't have any problems with mails and calendars as both of them work back and forth with Windows Live Mail and IPad.
The problem is only with contacts.  Once a new contact is created in my IPad it does not go in my Windows Live contact box.
    Thanks
