Windows Live Movie Maker will not work

After downloadng Windows Essentials and the WMM I received this error message
Windows cannot  access the specified device path or file.
You may not have the approprate permissons to access
the item
Tried downloading again as administrator with no success.

Hi,
I agree with
arnavsharma to run the WMM as administrator to see the results.
Also, I suggest you use Process monitor to capture the events when you repro this issue.
Process Monitor v3.05

If you find any file or registry key with access denied error, try following guide to fix it:

You can also upload the saved process file into file service like Onedrive and share the link here for our research.

  • Mini-DV Capture to Windows Live Movie Maker

I captured video from my mini-dv cam (GL2) in FCP but my editor uses Windows Live Movie Maker. What is the best way to get video captured using Final Cut Pro into a format that Windows Live Movie Maker can work with?

Here are the file formats WLMM supports:
    Windows Media Video (WMV) files
    .wmv
    Windows Media files
    .asf and .wm
    AVCHD files
    .m2ts and .m2t
    Apple QuickTime files
    .mov and .qt
    DV‑AVI files
    .avi
    Microsoft Recorded TV Show files
    .dvr-ms and .wtv
    MPEG‑4 movie files
    .mp4, .mov,.m4v, .3gp, .3g2, and .k3g
    MPEG‑2 movie files
.mpeg, .mpg, .mpe, .m1v, .mp2, .mpv2, .mod, and .vob
    MPEG‑1 movie files
    .m1v
    Motion JPEG files
    .avi and .mov
Can Compressor do any of those? Which is the best? What settings should I use in compressor to process 500GB of footage on my MacBook so that it takes only a few hours and produces the highest quality audio/video possible and results in less than 5GB of footage at the end?
I know I will lose quality. My requirements are simply 500GB to 5GB, best quality possible, WLMM compatible, process time in compressor on a MBP < 6 hours. Please tell me the suggested settings. Thank You.

  • Avi plays in Windows Live Movie Maker but probs in Quicktime and Premiere Pro

    Hello,
I'm completely new to Premiere Pro and am trying to edit a recording of a webinar for work.  I have it in both .avi and .wmv formats but can't import either into Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 or CS5.5.  They both play in Windows Media Centre, Windows Live Movie Maker and Windows Media Player, but the audio is corrupted and no images appear when I play in Quicktime with the avi and when I try to play the wmv in Quicktime it says the file is not in a format that Quicktime understands.  When I try to import either into Premiere Pro I get the error message "Unsupport format or Damaged File".  I've used Gspot to determine that the codecs I need are installed and am at a loss in terms of what to do next.  I've spent literally hours on this and would dearly love some help.  Can anybody shed light on my problem?  With many thanks in advance.  Shan

    Hi Jim,
    It said 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3, 44100Hz  128 kb/s tot , Stereo for the audio
and H264, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC for the video.
Thanks for looking at this for me.

  • PE 8 crashes when opening project after loading Windows Live/Movie Maker

Have a new HP computer with Windows 7 and plenty of RAM/ROM.  Loaded all the updates for Windows, PE 8.01, ATI, etc. but still crashed when I open a project.  It worked fine for the first 2 weeks, then I loaded Windows Live/Movie Maker and now PE 8 is unhappy.  Seems like lots of crashing issues but can't find this particular one.  Reload PE 8?  Remove Windows Live/Movie Maker?  Thanks if you have some help.

The only thing I can think of is that Windows LIVE/Movie Maker is runnin
g like messenger and Office LIVE and that would be disturbing for
PE8... You can enter the pro
ccesses with ctrl-alt-del and kill the Movie Maker proccess manually (in the handler) in that case and you would not need to uninstall it but repeat killing the proccess every time for PE8.
Otherwise uninstalling LIVE Movie Maker should be fixing it if I take a guess, and I wonder doesn't you have Windows Movie Maker in the computer from start, why would you need/want Windows LIVE Movie Maker (at least my Vista has Movie Maker preinstalled)?

  • Can I export to Windows Media 1080p with same quality as Windows Live Movie Maker?

I am looking to replace Windows Live Movie Maker, because of the following:
    it keeps crashing
it has occasional problems with audio sync when I use MTS source files
it has very limited editing features (especially inability to increase audio levels for a clip)
However, I would like to still render to 1080p Windows Media files for archiving. Does anyone know if there are settings I could use in Premiere to export to 1080p and get equivalent quality to WLMM?  I have failed to find a combination of settings in Premiere that doesn't mess up the video with horizontal lines during motion.  Here is an example:
When I use the 1080p export setting in WLMM, the video comes out looking essentially the same as the original MTS files, like in this snapshot:
However, I have failed to find any settings in Premiere Elements that will give an equivalent result.  Below is a snapshot from the Windows Media file I exported from Premiere:
And these are the settings I used:
    My Equipment:
    Canon Vixia HF200
    Windows 7 x64
    AMD Phenom II x4 945 3Ghz
    4GB RAM
    300GB 10K RPM HDD
    ATI Radeon 4800 Series
    Premiere Elements 8 trial
    Thanks,
    -Robyn

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the response.  I did go back and verify the project setting, and I think I was originally using the wrong project settings.  This is what I'm using now for the project:
And then to share, I went to Personal Computer -> WMV, and selected these advanced settings:
Unfortunately, I still see the jagged horizontal lines like the original screenshot I posted.  I tried playing with other video export settings (constant bit rate, at 8,000 and 20,000 also), and with variable constrained/unconstrained output.  I'm really at a loss for what is going on.  I did confirm that it doesn't have the horizontal lines if I encode to MPEG, but the WMV problem persists.

  • Export from Windows Live Movie Maker to iTunes

Anyone know an easy way to convert videos created in Windows Live Movie Maker to an iTunes compatible format?

    Hi frostytosh,
I agree with MisterX. This can be done with Windows Movie Maker and its not very tricky. Just have a look on this Youtube tutorial video.
Also check the Windows Live page about Movie Maker with interesting article about the different features:

  • After Quick Time update .mov files will not work in Premier pro.

I have windows 7 and the latest premiere pro. I uninstalled quick time still not working. Other files work fine however I work with a great deal of transparent background videos and now they will not work in Adobe apps. I have looked into solutions but cant find anything for windows. Please point me in the right direction.

If its not working roll back QT.

  • How to stop audio from sputtering on Windows Live Movie Maker

I hope that I'm asking this in the right place. If not, if someone could direct me to the right place it would be greatly appreciated.
The video and audio in some of my videos are sputtering and spitting even though the sound is correct when I listen to them directly on the computer (not in MM.) If I split and delete all but a few seconds (:15 or so) off of the original video
it's "almost" okay in MM, but the longer the video, the bigger the problem.  (More sputtering, longer pauses, video freezes but audio is fine, the whole thing is slow, etc...)
I have a combination of clips from an android (MP4) and iPhone (MOV) files that I am editing together.
I am using Windows 7 Professional and installed Movie Maker a few weeks ago.  I can't tell which version I have, but assume it's the latest since I just downloaded it.
I've tried the FixIt link from some other suggestions in posts about the same problem, but it says there's nothing to fix.  I don't understand what codec is.
Is there something simple I can do to smooth out the sound, or should I just use YouTube for the editing?  (I plan to put this up on YouTube anyway.)
Thank you in advance for a speedy reply.  (I originally asked this on August 22 in the Microsoft Community forums, but it FOREVER to get a reply from the moderator.  He was giving good instructions, but I can't wait 48 hours to get a reply to a
question I have about his instructions.)

  • Windows live and yahoo messengers not working

    Hi,
I have a blackberry 8520 using V5 OS and downloaded the latest service books as well as the latest version of windows live and yahoo messengers. The problem is i try to log onto either of them and its justs tries to login with no success, i  am on a pay as you go tarfiff  with access to wifi. Anybody got any ideas how i can fix this problem. many thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support...and to find out if, via the plan you are paying for, you even should be expecting these services to function. Many services will not function without an adequate data plan, even via WiFi...but only your carrier can tell you exactly what services you can expect to work with your plan.
    Good luck!

  • Quicktime Movie Controller Will Not Work in Web Browser

Regardless if it's Safari or Firefox, I cannot click any of the buttons on the movie controller when viewing my movies in a web browser. They work as intended in iWeb, however.

Well I figured it out. Apparently if the video is too low on the page it will not play. I had to change the Y value, moving it up, and it would magically play. Weird...

  • Cannot update graphics card BIOS, MSI Live upate 6 will not work.

Live update 6 does not support "MSI Radeon R9 280x Gaming 6G" graphics card.
Live update 6 does not run.
Even tried mass loading Live update 6 to the point it had 800+ "Live Update.exe 32*" processors running in task manager and they soon disappeared 20 seconds later.
    No UI.
    No Error message.
If the program is not running it is clear it does not support any of the hardware in my system including "MSI Radeon R9 280x Gaming 6G".
As a result I cannot update to latest BIOS for my graphics card.
Operating system: Windows 7 64bit (last update 05/09/2014 6 days ago)
    CPU: AMD A8-6600k APU @ 4.60GHz
RAM: 8GB Dual channel Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer DDR3 1866MHz CL9
    Motherboard: Asrock FM2A88M Extreme4+
    GPU: MSI Radeon R9 280x Gaming 6G
    GPU details:
Am I required to have an MSI motherboard to be eligible for a graphics card BIOS update?
The reason why I seek this is because the entire line of R9 200 series graphics cards are plagued with screen flickering due to ULPS. BIOS updates for other vendors of the card; "Gigabyte", "Asus" etc have been reported to fix the monitor flicking ULPS causes however since I have an MSI GFX card I cannot use Gigabyte and Asus BIOS updates.
I no longer have the flickering issue due disabling ULPS and overclocking the graphics card however it's causing the card to operate at a constant 48 degrees and chew power.
With the overclock values and stress testing it with Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 (extreme preset) the card reaches a max of 74 degrees over the course of stress testing for 4 hours.
But I would like to be able to have my card at factory clock settings with ULPS without the flickering and I'm wanting to see if the staff at MSI are fully aware of the bug in their product line and if the latest BIOS version for the graphics card would fix the issue.

No but live update is flakey at best and i wouldn't trust it.... (seen far to many problems with it)
if you want a Updated VBIOS if one is available please supply these 2 things and then one of the other mods will be able to get you what is needed!
1: Serial number of your card (leave off the last 3 digits and then there is no unique information about your card as the rest is all just manufacture data to all the cards from that batch)
2: click the little icon to the side of your BIOS version number and save a copy of the VBIOS to a file and uplaod it to somewhere and give us a link to the file... (use somewhere like Dropbox)
once we have those 2 pieces of information someone here will be able to get one if Available for your card

  • 'Reopen All Windows From Last Session' Will Not Work

So, first Safari won't let me even open a new window and told me that I needed to reinstall and that my version of Safari was missing something - I can't remember the precise thing it told me I was missing. At that point, I restarted to see if that wouldn't fix the problem - it didn't, and 'Reopen All Windows From Last Session' wasn't working then. I reinstalled, and now everything else is working fine exact 'Reopen All Windows From Last Session' - it's not grayed out or anything, but when I click it *nothing happens*
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
