Windows locks up every time I connect my iPod

My iPod had been working just fine until last night when I booted a LiveCD of Ubuntu Linux on my PC. I connected my iPod to my computer during this time, browsed the files on it (I have my iPod set up to act as a USB hard disk), and now whenever I connect my iPod to my computer under Windows, the whole machine locks up. Any ideas?

  • Itunes crashes every time I connect my Ipod..

I had my Ipod connected while running a software update 1-2 weeks ago. Shortly after the update completed, my computer gave me "A computer must be restarted" mesage, and promptly shut down all the programs I was using and rebooted. Currently, not only does Safari refuse to operate, my Itunes crashes every time I connect my Ipod, preventing me from altering information or transferring songs. I've done everything but 'restore'-- I'm afraid that if I reset my Ipod, I'll lose the songs I already have.

    Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
    Update to 10.4.4.

  • Videos updated every time I connect my iPods

So every time I connect my iPod classic or my iPod video 5th gen to iTunes, it keeps on “updating“ some of my videos. So I have to wait until it syncs them back to my ipods until I can disconnect. I really don't understand why it does that so I would like some help. iTunes is up to date. It doesn't re-sync all of my videos, only videos that I have converted.

  • Why is it every time I connect my iPod Classic, iTunes 11.1 freezes?

This only started happening recently. Every single time i connect my iPod, iTunes just stops responding.
I have a 160 GB newer model and Windows 7
Also I've formatted and restored it more than enough times

Stared happening when I updated to iTunes, version 11. Both on Mac OS-X 10.6 and Windows 7 platfiorms. Bounced back to an earlier version and this corrected the problem. Restored and reloaded without any difficulty. Make sure to disable AUTOMATIC UPDATES in preferences in the general pane. Keep a spare version of the application/program so that in case you need it if anything happens or somebody updates your machine if you take it in for service.
Problems associated so far from my perspective using Mac and Windows are: iPod disappears from the desktop, iPod freezes; host computer freezes; iTunes library does not load correctly or at all; Formatting on Windows based computers shows formatted when in fact it did not; iPod may not respond correctly after ejecting.
Hope this helps. Running iTunes version 9.0.2 (originally furnished with my 2009 MacBook). This is from the restore disc and works like a charm. I have the 5th generation 30 Gb iPod.
Inquiries accepted. If I can help, all the better.

  • I have to reinstall iTunes every time I connect my iPod

This has never happened to me before, but now my iTunes won't recognize my iPod Touch 2nd gen. I'm currently using Windows 7 64-bit. When I check the connected devices, "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" shows up under "Unspecified". I used the Apple-provided troubleshooter and checked if the driver is installed, which it is. All the appropriate services are set to start at my computer's boot and all are running. The last solution was to completely re-install iTunes, which I've done, and my iPod shows up in iTunes. The bad part, after I reboot my computer, the problem returns. It'll be a hassle to keep my computer on all the way and to reinstall every time I boot my computer. Any suggestions?

  • Every time I connect my iPod to sync new music, other music files are updated while syncing and the album artwork is deleted during this process. How do I stop this from happening?

The album artwork for my music that is already on my iPod is being deleted every time I sync new music to my iPod. I currently have no album artwork at all, only for the new music that had been synced recently.

  • Every time I connect my iPod/iPhone to itunes it say it will not connect because I need the 64 bit version of iTunes for Windows. But I do...

I have reinstalled iTunes over 20 times at this point. I've also tried standalone installers for the mobile support. NONE of it is working. This computer is brand new and should have no issues with functionality towards iTunes. This makes absolutely no sense. Please help. I do have the 64 bit version for Windows currently installed.

    Same problem.

  • ITunes resyncs the same 934 songs every time I connect my iPod

I am the proud owner of a new iPod Touch. Everything worked well for a few weeks then, after I cleaned up id3 tags, lyrics, and cover art so that albums would show up more correctly, things went awry.
Now, every day, when I plug in my iPod, 934 songs get erased and copied back onto the device. If I unplug and replug it in immediately, this does not happen. The trigger seems to be about 24 hours. The daily resync takes a long time, and if I want to unplug the iPod before it is finished, I end up missing hundreds of songs.
I reset and erased the iPod, but that didn't help.
    Any suggestions?

  • I Just upgraded to the lastest iTunes version, why does my iTunes freeze every time I connect my iPod but yet it still plays music?

I've never had this problem before but since I've updated my iTunes, it freezes as soon as my iPod gets connected. Ever more strange, the music plays in the background but yet iTunes is frozen. Any help?

It appears that my iTunes is recignizing my iPod as an iPhone for some reason...could that be the problem?

  • Need to restore every time I connect iPod?

My iPod (new nano, v1.0.1 software) works just fine. Plays music like a champ. iTunes (7.4.3.1, WinXP) works as expected, too. However, every time I connect the iPod, iTunes declares that it is in recovery mode and needs to be restored before it can be used w/ iTunes. It restores just fine, but I'd like to be able to bypass this step.

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore

  • How do I stop my iPod touch from backing up every time I connect

    Hello all,
Every time I connect my ipod to my mac book it does a back up, which can take quite some time if I haven't connected it for a while. It has only been doing this since I upgraded to 2.0. Is it necessary? can I back it up manually? How do I stop it?
    Thanx,
    JBN

During the backup process, you should be able to click on the little X at the top of iTunes, where it shows the backup process progression. This will stop the backup. From there, your sync will continue.
However, without a good/recent backup, if you had to restore your iPod, you would lose all of the settings/notes/etc that had been changed or created since your last full backup. You will want to let the backup complete every so often to make sure that you have a good one on hand that you can use if you need it.
