Windows machine icon has a blue screen!  Now that's funny!

I just connected my powerbook running leopard to my windows network at the office. All the windows servers show up in the finder as little monitors with blue screens and some text that you can't make out. I'll bet it says something like "fatal error." Seriously, that's funny.

"Is this a hardware issue? "
Sure sounds like it. However, it depends on which model iMac G5 you have. You never stated.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301724-en *How to identify your iMac*
The 1st & 2nd generation G5 iMac had video & logic board issues which Apple had a free extended warranty program which expired 2 years ago.

Sounds like a trip to your local AASP or Apple Store. If you want to attempt to repair yourself, strongly suggest that you post in the iMac G5 Forums.
There are quite a few users there that can point you in the right +"do it yourself"+ repair direction.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My iPad has a blue screen  What's wrong with it

My iPad has a blues screen what's wrong ?

Hold the home and power button down until it restarts. If it continues, restore it. If it continues and only happens in one app, contact the developer or update the app if it has any updates. If it happens with not just one app, reserve an appointment at your local Apple Store and have it replaced. http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

  • Why can't I open Facebook. The icon has a blue spot attached

I can't open face book on my iPod mini. The icon has a blue dot attached. What does this mean? And how can I open Facebook?

The blue dot means it is a newly installed or updated app. I would try deleting it and then re-installing from scratch to see if that helps.

  • HT201412 Ipad2 has blank blue screen. Itunes does pick it up but restore doesn't work. Flashes yellow screen wit hlogo then back to blue screen.

Ipad 2 has blank blue screen. When turned off goes to black but when hold home/start buttons at same time, flashes on to blue screen. Itunes picks it up and have restored to no avail. Sometimes flashes yellow screen for few seconds with logo then back to blue screen. Have troubleshooted many times by restoring and plugging in/out with itunes but nothing works. Any other advice. It is only 14 months old so just out of warranty. Very frustrating that this expensive piece of well cared for equipment is so unstable and happens just as warranty ends.

Reinstall the operating system from the dvd (you will not loose your data)

    Hi
Currently all versions of F-Secure Internet Security / SAFE will bluescreen with Windows 10 starting from Windows 10 build 10130. Only the beta version of F-Secure SAFE ("fs protection") is compatible.
We know what is causing the problem and are working on maintenance releases. The products will be updated before Windows 10 launches.

  • My iMac has a blue screen, but no desktop.. SOS!!

    So here's my problem,
Lately my iMac has been acting a little funny and sometimes when it gets super slow, I restart it.
The OS loads super fast but when it comes to the Blue screen, up in the corner only the spotlight icon loads up, everything else is blank. It's like my OS isn't properly booting or my hardrive isn't mounting.
I've run several hardware tests and everything is fine. I even dusted out my computer thinking that it was over heating.
Now, it's been almost two days and it will not start up. My computer just stays on the blue screen with just the spotlight part of the tool bar showing.
Can anyone help me figure this out??

If it's gotten past the hardware tests (assuming you mean the ones on your Install disks) then assume for now that the problem lies in the OS rather than the hardware. That means, for one thing, that you're actually in the wrong forum and should be moving over to the Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger section, probably the Installation & Setup forum you'll find there.
On the way, take a look at the contents of the following KB article. It will get you started on the troubleshooting of this problem, and reporting what you've done from here (and what the results were) will speed the process in the other forum.

  • My iPod has a blue screen and won't respond to anything. Help?

My iPod touch just stopped working after I tried to retweet something on my Twitter app, and the entire screen turned blue. Now it won't turn off or respond to being plugged into the computer. My home button has been stuck in for a couple months, so I'm not able to hold down the home button and the sleep/wake button. Any advice?

Pavilion a6518f, Turn power on get diagnostic sreen, then get windows is loading files, then get a blue screen with a big arrow cursor and thats all...non responsive

Troubledguy, welcome to the forum.  We'll try to get you smiling again.
When I hear these symptoms, I consider two main components: 1) the hard drive and 2) the memory.  Here is a guide to help you run the SMART test on the hard drive from the BIOS.  It will tell you if the hard drive is failing or has failed.  You can test the memory by removing all of the modules and replacing them one at a time and booting.  Place the single module in the slot closest to the processor.

  • During installation of Windows 8.1, I get blue screen and can't proceed any further..

I'm trying to install Win 8.1 via Bootcamp 5.1 on my late 2012 3.4 i7 iMac. I'm installing from a Win 8.1 OEM DVD using an optical drive.
The partitioning process is fine, I have the latest windows support software on an MS-DOS (FAT) USB stick.
The install seems to be going fine, then up comes a blue screen (with mouse functionality) but no prompt/warning/error messages.
At this point I have no other option to restart and when I hold down the al key on start up, the Windows partition is not available.
    Any ideas anyone?

It looks like that the installation process of one of the applications have caused some trouble. One of them may have changed or added kext files.
For that, the Window server crashed if you try to open a non Apple application like Firefox
Start the system in safe mode by holding the shift key on power on.
If save mode is reached, perform a permissions repair with the Disk Utility.
Don't bother about upcoming warnings like "could not repair file xy" as that occur cause you use the tool on a running system and opened files can not get touched by the tool.
After repair is done reboot system to normal and try to open Firefox.
If the problem persits, please report back here.
