Windows mail and blank pdf attachments

I am new to windows 8.  I just started using my HP ENVY -Z Notebook PC
I have been receiving and sending out email for the past week.
This morning however I was having problems sending out emails trying all the email accounts I have added to Windows live - when one email got through,  the pdf attachment sent came blank to the recipient?  Need guidance on what needs to be done to fix this,,

  • All email links have stopped working from both Windows Mail and Thunderbird. It is probably caused by a recent update to Firefox. How can I sort this?

It was OK until a few days ago but now no links work in either Thunderbird or Windows Mail. I have changed nothing so I can only assume that this is another case of an update changing things without my knowledge.
Links within web pages still work. Firefox is the default browser and we have been using Windows Mail and Thunderbird (gmail and googlemail) for at least a couple of years on this computer.

Open your firewall program. First check the settings. Make sure that the
program is set to tell you if a new program wants access to the web. Then
go to the list of programs the firewall has. Make sure that all the programs
you want to access the web are set to '''ALLOW'''. If it is set to '''AUTO''', the
    firewall may not allow access.
This problem occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the
previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as
trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet
    again:<BR><BR>
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)<BR><BR>
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.

  • Setting up windows mail and accessing webmail

two issues which I suspect are linked:
In trying to setup windows mail, and trying to send test emails I get:
Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
I've followed the steps for setting up the account as supplied at
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9701/c/346,412/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xMzAz...
and tried two variants on my username: firstname.surnameXXXX
    and [email protected]
when I try to send/receive in Windows Mail - a windows security box appears asking to username/password
on entering the username/password the dialog box just reappears, and no progress is made. On cancelling the dialog the above error appears.
When trying the webmail login, and on entering my username ([email protected])
and the supplied password, yahoo login gives this error:
This ID is not yet taken. Are you trying to register for a new account?
This is a new account with BT broadband, with the account starting on 1 April, and broadband going live on 13 Apr.
Having setup Mail for other cable/broadband suppliers this is the most trouble I've ever had.
Had double checked that I'm not mistaking 0 and O in the username/password, and have even copy/pasted them from my original order confirmation, so confident I haven't typod either of these details.

that's the page but actually log in on that page to your mail and not use windows mail just to make sure it is working before checking to see if you have an error setting up windowds mail.  sometimes it can be 3/4 days after your broadband account goes live
I use windows live mail to pick up and send my btinternet mail without a problem

  • Mail is corrupting PDF attachments

about 25% of the PDF files I receive as attachments show as an icon in the top part of the msg, but also show as unreadable hex "text" in the bottom part of the msg.
If I click on the PDF ICON in Mail.app, it opens fine in PREVIEW.APP
IF I forward any mail with this sort of PDF Attachment (showing as "text" at the bottom) to a windows user, they can NOT open the file... Adobe Acrobat Reader says the file is corrupt.
A corollary is - a LOT of the PDF files I receive from an e-fax service as PDF files show as CORRUPT on the Mac, but open FINE on Windows (Adobe Acrobat Reader).. saying the file is not "correctly encoded"
This is a SERIOUS PROBLEM... If I can't get mail to reliably open and forward PDF files to Windows users, I have no choice but to give up on Mail.app and use Windows...
I have to deal with way too many PDF files as attachments to worry that every one I send may be corrupt to some windows user.
IF apple would give us a way to submit one of these files, I would gladly do so... but apparently from MAIL.APP they do not!
    Any ideas?

    Keith,
    I saw your other post.
With problem Forwarding, try this again, but before sending, click on Format in the Menubar, and choose Make Plain Text. Then let me know what happens.
I do not you have a transmission problem. The problem in the other topic, with Walter, is still under review, but has been traced to only be with that one IMAP server, and regardless of which network you are connected to.
The text at the bottom may be a clue that that Rich Text is being converted to HTML at some point, and the HTML has compromised the content of the PDF.
Feel free to send me an example, by email. My address can be found by clicking on my name.

  • Blank PDF attachments problem

When emailing a marketing document, and attaching a PDF of the document sometimes we get a blank PDF file created and emailed. This problem seems to be random, we can find nothing common with the problem PDF's. If the user emails the document again it works OK. Any ideas or suggestions?
    thanks

Check authorizations and make sure the users have the correct access to the server, use explorer to check.
ie. load explorer, enter your server name in the address:
    servername\
If prompted for Userid & Password this means no connection.
Also you might check into if anyone modified the PLD's
    Hope this helps.

  • Using Windows Mail and BT Yahoo

I use Windows Mail with an email address ending in @btinternet.com.
I also have a BT Yahoo webmail account using the same email address.
As I use Windows Mail most of all I've tended to keep the BT Yahoo Mail account as a "back up".
Recently however I have noticed a few emails reach my BT Yahoo Webmail but do not appear in my Windows Mail inbox.
I was embarrassed recently when an important message fell into this category and I missed it because I only log in to the webmail a couple of times a week.
Does anyone else have this problem, or know why it happens
In every case the messages have been from individuals, not from businesses.
And in the case of one particular individual, a friend in the USA, all his recent messages have gone to the webmail account only and not reached the Windows Mail account.
Thanks in advance for your kind help/advice/support

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
May I ask where these webmail emails appeared ? Were they in the Inbox, or perhaps the Spam folder or another folder you've added ?
Only emails in the Inbox will arrive at Windows Mail. I assume you've set an advanced option within Windows Mail to "leave messages on server", and hence have all of your emails held in webmail ?
It is possible that Windows Mail has a slightly corrupted index, which makes a note of the emails it has last received, and therefore not picked up the new ones. This index can be reset, but you could effectively start receiving all of the emails stored on the mail server again - which could take a long time.

  • White and blank PDF pages

I bought electronic books from pubu.com.tw. i can open these books in computer with adobe reader. but, when i copy these books into my portable electronic Book, i can only see white and blank pages. i use Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 to open these books in my computer, still white and blank. i am very anxious about this problem. Why????(

You need to make sure your portable electronic Book is registered with the same AdobeID as your computer.
If it is fully compatible with ADE then ADE should ask you to register the device when ADE is run with the device plugged in.
If not, there may be some other way to arrange authorization; tell us which eReader device you have.
There are quite a few devices which ADE 2.0 is having problems with, but which worked on the older v1.7.2.
Version 1.7.2 is a little difficult to find,
available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • Mail and broken pdf names "utf-8"

We have Exchange 2013 server and mac client 10.10.2 (14C1514)
When i send attachments with cyrillic names some files breaks that names like this
    utf-8''%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%BF%D0%B8%D1%8F%20%D1%8D%D1%82%D0%BE%20%D0%B3%D1%80%D0%B5% D0%B1%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B3%D0%BE%20%D1%84%D0%B0%D0%B8%CC%86%D0%BB%D0%B0 .pdf
but this only appears in mac Mail client, all other clients are normally displaying that name.

Probably a good idea to let Apple know about this problem via

  • Dunning - mail and save pdf

    Hello,
we have received the question to mail a dunning and save this pdf on a location.
Mailing is not a problem (copied FI_OPT_ARCHIVE_DUNNING_NOTICE to a z-variant and adapt it to our needs-, but I don 't see how I can force the system to create also a spool. Is there someone who has some guidance for me ?

I don't think standard dunning process is designed to allow this.
What would the users do with the file, anyway? If this is just for some kind of archival or compliance purposes, it would be easier to ensure that a copy of the outgoing email is stored on the mail server.

  • Crystal Reports 8.5 and blank pdf file

    Post Author: JimLW
    CA Forum: Older Products
We have an old asp application and we are moving it to Windows 2003 server. The reports are coming up fine in the viewer. However, when we export to pdf, xls, Word, we the file names are being created in the appropriate folder but they are 0 length. Programmatically, I'm trapping for errors and the application is throwing an error right after the report object runs the export method. The error number is 507. Any thoughts.

There is a document for Crystal Reports in Citrix environment written for exporting error, but I think it could be applicable for your situation.
    I quote it here:
"... errors occur because Citrix Server and Terminal Server use the User Path Variable rather than the System Path Variable for clients.
    Solution:
This solution has been written for Crystal Reports 8.5. The directory path to the Crystal folder may be different in other versions. For example, in Crystal Reports 9, copy files from c:\program files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\bin to winnt\crystal.
By default, the Crystal Reports export drivers (DLLs) are installed to the %systemroot%\Crystal directory (generally C:\Winnt\Crystal), which is not included in the User Path Variable. Each user will have a specific User Path Variable making it difficult to update each one.
    Steps to Resolve:
Therefore, to resolve these issues, copy files from the Crystal directory to the Citrix Serveru2019s or Terminal Serveru2019s System directory.
    1. Copy the files from the following directory:
    %systemroot%\Crystal
    CAUTION
Do not delete the %systemroot\Crystal directory. Other Business Objects products may require this directory.
    2. Paste the files to the System directory. For example, in Terminal Server, the System directory is generally:
    Winnt\System32
    NOTE
Verify the correct directory location in your environment.
With the DLLs in the System directory, the User Path Variable will be able to locate them. The error messages should be resolved and exporting should be successful."

  • Can Mail send interactive PDF attachments with URL links?

I have tried without success to send a PDF that has URL links embedded (made in InDesign CS3). When this mail arrives the links are stripped out from the attached PDF. I do not want to send html mail for this purpose.
    Anyone have any answers? Thanks.

    Jon,
The strong probability is that a SPAM filter in the path to the recipient has stripped them out -- Mail would not cause this. Have you tried opening the PDF with Acrobat Pro, doing a Save As, and then attaching that version to see if the same behavior continues.
