  • I am unable to open links in Windows mail since going to firefox

Since downloading Firefox whenever I try to log into my account in an email (such as Roam) I get the following message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program". This happens whenever I try to log into anything from an email. If I go to the web site, I am able to log in without a problem. I am using Window 7 and Windows Live for email. I downloaded the free version of Firefox 8.0 Stan

  • My bank doesn't see Firefox 5 as being secure, 3.6 was

My bank does not recognize Firefox 5 as being secure. 3.6 had no problems with this.

If you are looking for the "padlock" read the following.
Beginning with Firefox 4, the padlock is no longer a part of Firefox; it can give users a false sense that a site is secure by not supplying all of the information about a site. Familiarize yourself with the '''''Site Identity Button''''' in Firefox:
    *http://www.dria.org/wordpress/archives/2008/05/06/635/
You can install an add-on to show a padlock in the URL/Location/Address bar:

  • Mail doesn't "see" contacts. How to Fix?

Some time ago, I pulled my Address book contacts into Maverick's Contacts, and this was successful; they're all there, categories, notes, comments..
However, Mail.app doesn't draw from any source when I begin to compose an email to people whose addresses should be in there..it Mail's little address book.
How can I restore that in Mail?
    Thank you!

From the Mail menu bar, select
              Mail ▹ Preferences... ▹ Composing
    and check the box marked
              Automatically complete addresses
You don't have to configure LDAP. If the box is already checked, or if checking it has no effect, then continue as below.
Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
This action will delete any custom Mail stationery that you have created. If you want to preserve it, ask for instructions.
If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Software install in Windows 7 doesn't see mapped drives

I've looked through the related topics that came up when I started to write this, but I am not sure they answer my questions fully.
I am trying to install software on a Windows 7 box as the Administrator. My mapped drives are fine, I can see them and they are not dropping off to the middle of nowhere. What is happening though is that when I attempt to install software, the only thing
that is showing is my local drives, not my networked drives. My work around so far is do it via UNC.
Is there an easy fix for this or do I have to continue with my workaround of doing installs via UNC?

    Hi,
I would like to confirm that does this issue occur on all the software you tried to install?
    You may try to
disable User Account Control (UAC) to test the issue.
If it does not work, I also would like to suggest you enable NetBIOS to test the issue.
    1. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
    2. Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties".
    3. Click Continue button to verify the administrator permission.
    4. Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties".
    5. Click "Advanced" button in the open window. On the "WINS" tab, click to select "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP", and then click "OK" to save the setting.
If the issue persists, I also would like to suggest you disable the antivirus program and test the issue in
    Clean Boot.
    What is the result?

  • Import "Copy To:" choose button doesn't see other drives in Win 7?!

When I click "Choose" beside "Copy To:" on the import photos window I only see "My Desktop" and folders under my Windows username. I can't see any other drives on my system. I've tried both 2.5 and 3 Beta and I've encountered the same issue: I can only import to my C:\ drive and the workaround is to  than move the imported files to the other drive in the Lightroom catalog menu. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit now (clean install). Any suggestions? This never happened with Vista... is it Win 7 related?? I can see the other drives in other parts of Lightroom, it's just the Import window that doesn't see them? Anyone?

No replies to this thread - hopefully someone knows what to do?
That post mentions a DROBO (i.e., a non-local drive). Is that your
problem, as well? The drive you want to see but can't - is it an
internal drive? External, but directly attached drive (USB)? Some
    networked drive?

  • Can't send email using Windows Mail (Vista) through Anonymizer proxy server

I have recently installed a new version of Anonymizer which I need for access to a particular forum, but when it is connected I cannot send email. The message I got from Anonymizer support is as follows:
Anonymizer Universal blocks unencrypted mail port 25 to prevent abuse of our service by spammers. If you have an email address set up to use port 25, please contact your mail administrator to use an alternate port. We have found email providers prefer certain ports including 587 and 465. These ports generally require authentication and you may need to change your outgoing mail server to require authentication.
I tried these port numbers but they also gave errors. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I found the thread on port 587 and I followed the advice on the link for Outlook Express.
    http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Email/Setup+And+Use/QuestionsOne/124306.htm
Windows Mail is slightly different but when I set the outgoing port to 587 without requiring authentication, and it seems to be working OK now. So I'll mark this as solved. This seems to be a major issue since November and it should be in the FAQs and easy to find with a search.

  • Windows Live Mail doesn't work in Firefox after recent updates to Windows 7. System Restore doesn't help.

Installed around 8 important Windows 7 updates over the past 3 days (so, nothing I could uninstall as they're security updates mainly). Since then, Windows Live Mail doesn't respond in Firefox. Did 2 System Restores and downloaded Live Essentials again but nothing works.

  • Somehow firefox now opens with my windows mail. Each time I enter my password it asks if I want to save it so I don't have to retype my login and password each time. I hit yes and when I leave firefox it doesn't keep my password. I would like to either

I recently went to open my windows live mail, which normally opens because it has my login and password saved. Now it opens in firefox and I have to retype my login and password everytime I open my mail. I would like when I open my mail not to have to retype my login and password as this is why I have it set up in the original windows mail anyway. So I have attempted to live with this problem by adjusting the options to save my password and when I close out of firefox and try to reopen it later in the day I have to retype my login and password again.

  • URL links provided in emails (Windows Mail) stopped working. I get a popup message: "Windows cannot find...." asking me to make the URL is correct. I connect to Internet Explorer, but not Firefox, my default browser.

I have already updated Firefox to latest version and reset the default mail program to Windows Mail. But Windows Mail now doesn't want to recognize Firefox. If I shift to Internet Explorer, I have no problem. I have no problem receiving or sending emails, just using links contained in them.
This happened suddenly, two days ago, at the end of a day when linking had been possible, per usual.

nothing that I could find would solve my problem, so I just gave up trying...
then I had a group of Microsoft Updates badly interact with each other, causing me all kinds of stability problems involving SQL and printer drivers.
To fix those issues, I backed out all updates within the prior two months, then [slowly and painfully!] reinstalled them -- when done in groups, you can tell how Microsoft corrects bad updates by noting which ones are not reinstalled.
I also had to download and install every single MS SQL update available before everything that was broken worked again. Note that none of the updates had titles that suggested anything at all to do with web browsing (other than Internet Explorer) or Firefox.
There was also at least one Firefox update shortly after my re-installation of Windows Updates.
Funny thing happened along that path: as of today (version 32.0.1) has none of the problems I reported, but I cannot say for certain which change fixed them: I was far more concerned fixing SQL and printer issues to even test Firefox for default file association settings.
Sorry that I cannot be more useful, other than the general suggestions to:
    (1) keep your system fully updated with all patches
    (2) keep your anti-virus, anti-malware, and anti-spybot software current as well
    (3) keep any program that uses HTML and other browser protocols also up to date
    (4) take regular snapshots of your registry, and create a system restore point before every system and software update, so you can more easily back out problems
    (5) keep the installation package(s) for prior version(s) of software (and Windows Update files) at least until you verify an update hasn't broken anything.
    Hope that helps.

  • All email links have stopped working from both Windows Mail and Thunderbird. It is probably caused by a recent update to Firefox. How can I sort this?

It was OK until a few days ago but now no links work in either Thunderbird or Windows Mail. I have changed nothing so I can only assume that this is another case of an update changing things without my knowledge.
Links within web pages still work. Firefox is the default browser and we have been using Windows Mail and Thunderbird (gmail and googlemail) for at least a couple of years on this computer.

Open your firewall program. First check the settings. Make sure that the
program is set to tell you if a new program wants access to the web. Then
go to the list of programs the firewall has. Make sure that all the programs
you want to access the web are set to '''ALLOW'''. If it is set to '''AUTO''', the
    firewall may not allow access.
This problem occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the
previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as
trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet
    again:<BR><BR>
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)<BR><BR>
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.

  • How to use Windows Mail with Firefox

I want to use Windows Mail as my default e-mail program when using Firefox to browse the internet and initiate e-mail messages. How can I get Firefox to use Windows Mail? Right now, it is using Thunderbird, which I do not even have installed on my PC, and it is using the web e-mail Address Book and Sent folder on my ISP's web site, rather than being able to reference the Address Book and Sent folder on my PC.
