Windows Media Audio Licenses

hey, before i got my ipod, i ripped my music from my cds to Windows Media Player. When I try to import the music from windows media to Itunes, it will not work because of the Windows Media Audio Licenses, is there anyway i can bypass this without ripping all of my cds manually again to itunes? or can I just get rid of the Windows Media Audio Licenses on the cds i've ripped? Please help!!

Did you ever get any help with this? I have the same question.

  • How to merge music from a My Music (Windows media audio files)  and iTunes?

Purchased some music from iTunes music store and I am hoping to get them on my MP3 player that is NOT an iPod. Is there a way to do this? I want to have these songs as well as songs from my My Music folder (Windows media audio files) on my MP3 player....
I know I cannot move the music from iTunes to the My music.... (well I can but when I click on them to play, iTunes comes up)
I know that iTunes is not compatible with my MP3 player....
anything besides burning a disc (which I am not sure my computer can do...)?
    thanks in advance, Megan

Sorry but no, there isn't. Tracks from the iTunes Music Store (as they are with any other legal download store with major-label content) are copy protected and so can't be directly converted. The only way to get them into another format is to burn them to an audio CD, so if your computer doesn't have a CD burner, then you're stuck, I'm afraid.

  • Windows Media Audio 10 Pro Support on Ze

I was wondering if Creative were planning to add support for Windows Media Audio 0 Pro on Zen based players with future firmware updates. I've been trying out the format a bit an its very good quality for size, a definite improvement on WMA 9.
If you want to try ripping your music to this just download Windows Media Player and check it out.

  • I want to convert the MPEG-4 Audio (.m4a) to a window media audio file

i want to convert the MPEG-4 Audio (.m4a) to a window media audio file,  i downloaded some songs so i can run them with a photo slide show on my samsung video.  the machine would not play them (could not find them)  the files that work are all windows media audio

You can't convert to WMA with iTunes. I'd be surprised if the software can't read mp3 files. iTunes can convert to that. Otherwise there are free format converters out on the web. The suite from http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/ is handy and includes an audio convertor. There is no need to install their toolbar or any other 3rd party software that gets offered.

  • Installing Windows Media Audio - .bin

    Hello,
When I tried to download Windows Media Player 9, it came as a .bin document that my Mac doesn't recognise. Does anyone know what I can do?
+(For info: I am a musician that has recently moved from a PC to a Mac. I have literally hundreds of WMA files - my own rough recordings - that I'd like to keep as WMA files. Obviously, these don't play on my Mac and, after a bit of investigation, it appears that I would need Windows Media Player for Mac to me able to play them.)+

  • Converting a wma file (windows media audio) to a Mp3 file for iTunes.

I copied all of my music from my external harddrive that i have had for a long time now onto my MacBook. Some of the files were wma while most were Mp3. is there anyway that i can convert the files on my mac to make them mp3 and playable on my itunes and put on my nano. I have tried many times to add the songs to my library and then convert them, but they don't appear in my library but they still play when i use quicktime.

The files play in Quicktime likely because you have the Flip4Mac plugin installed. As for iTunes, it doesn't support WMA files, so they won't be imported.
You can try EasyWMA to convert the WMA files to MP3, M4A, or WAV. I have not tried this program, though.
    Hope this helps,

  • I can burn CDs from Windows Media Player, but not from itunes.  I always get Error 2131.  How do I transfer music files from itunes to Window Media Player Library?...or convince itunes to burn a CD?

    Cannot burn CD from itunes.

The thing is, they are in the unprotected format? (
They are protected WMA from when you RIP'd them with WMP. iTunes will not read them.
Go to WMP Tools -> Rip Music.
Under Rip settings, it is set to *Windows Media Audio* and most likely *Copy protect music* is ticked. This is how it is protected.
You will need to reRIP them all from CD.

  • Trouble playing downloaded audiobooks with Window Media Player

I can’t get audible book downloads from Net Library to play on my computer. Microsoft Windows Media player v9 and above is required to listen to eAudiobooks. I have this version. When I try to launch a download I get the message: cannot open file; verify file and path are correct. What do I need to do?

Hi, kathy. Welcome to the Discussions.
The Net Library audio books you are downloading are undoubtedly using a version of WMA-DRM (Windows Media Audio - Digital Rights Management) later than version 1.3. According to this post on another forum and related info on Microsoft's Web site here, version 1.3 is the latest version of WMA-DRM supported by WMP9 for Mac OS X.
In other words, the audio books use a later version of DRM (specifically the Microsoft Windows Media Rights Manager ) than that supported by WMP9. They simply will not play in WMP9.
Flip4Mac will not help you here:
    • It clearly states on this page that "Note: Flip4Mac does not support content that is protected with Windows Media digital rights management (DRM). "• Flip4Mac would not let you convert the WMA-DRM-protected files to QuickTime files as this would require cracking the DRM protection, a violation of the U.S. DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).
Accordingly, you're out of luck with the Net Library audio books that do not play in WMP9 unless you have a PC running Windows and WMP10.
That Net Library went with files protected by WMA-DRM is a sore point for many Mac users. Search for Net Library in this page for some examples of similarly frustrated users.
    Good luck!

  • Convert Windows media Player WAV file to QuickTime

I have been asked to e mail a windows media player WAV file in the Quick Time format. My PC has the free Quick Time 7.2 version. How can I convert these files from a WAV file to the Quick Time format? I see a Quick Time upgrade that appears to do the trick, just want to make sure. Thanks!!

Clears the air a bit. Your file is .wma (Windows Media Audio) format.
Mac users that have installed http://flip4mac.com will be able to hear the file. Older Mac users would use the Windows Media Player for Mac to listen to it.
No conversion is needed for most Mac users.
There are hundreds of third party apps that can convert audio and video formats. Some are free and others offer free trial conversions. A little Google searching should help you find what you need.

  • How can I play windows media aduio files?Need help...

Oh ,I bought a N70 in China. It is not all the same as the product which sold in Euro.It doesn't have the anterior camera .And my N70 can't play the windows media aduio files from my classical music CDs,I tried several software but all failed. What's the matter?
    Thanks for replay!
    Good luck to ereryone !

WMAPlus! says it plays Windows Media Audio on phones like the N70 (based on S60 2nd Ed.):
    http://my-symbian.com/s60/software/applications.php?fldAuto=1427&faq=2
I believe it does not handle DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected WMA files, though.
Also, there's no S60 3rd Edition version (but then there are S60 3rd Edition based models with WMA support built-in, such as the N91).

  • Exporting video for the web for windows Media player

What software can i use to compress an AVI file for the web. The finished product will be WMA file.

WMA is Windows Media Audio. I think what you meant is WMV (Windows Media Video). To export to that format on a Mac you'll need Flip4ac, available from www.flip4mac.com Once you've installed it, it adds the WMV and WMA export option to QT and other apps such as Sorenson Squeeze.

  • Is There a way to play Windows Media files on the IMac?

Windows Media Player 9 does not work for intel model, neither do the Quicktime components. Any other alternatives?

I have had good luck converting the WMA files to mp3s, which my iTunes see and play with no problem.
    Here is how.
    1. Open WMP9 and select copy from CD
    2. from the TOOLS menu at the top select OPTIONS
    3. From OPTIONS select the COPY MUSIC tab.
    4. In the COPY MUSIC page half way down under "copy settings" you will
see a radio window with a drop down menu. The window is labeled
    FORMAT.
    5. Change the window (typically it is in "Windows Media Audio" to
"MPEG Layer-3." There is a good instructional tip link right next to
the drop-down window labeled "Learn more about MP3 formats."
    6. Remember to hit APPLY on the tab at the bottom of the page,
    then close out.
Now when you copy music into your PC it will be in a medium that both the mac and the PC can use.
Some notes: If you plan to copy music from your computer to use in your car stereo do so on a CD-R, otherwise there is a good chance the car stereo wont see it.
You can copy all of your iTunes on a DVD+R, but only your Mac will be able to play them. It is a good way to archive them, but nothing else will play them. WMP9 won't even see them.
If you don't have the original CDs and are trying to transfer music that is in WMA format you will have to copy it to a CD first, typically a CD that is a Playlist. Then reinstall it as an MP3. When you pull up your menu in WMP9 you will then see the same song repeated twice, but one will have a much smaller file space (the MP3). and will be labled as an MP3. I would suggest keeping both versions if you have the hard drive space, since many ultraportable devices anymore require on or the other.
As for the WMP9 not working on the iMac, are you sure you activated it? Mine works fine now that I have 2 gigs of RAM. My iMac came with 512, and would routinely freeze up and crash on just about anything. Once I put 2 gigs in it, it became a whole new machine. It works about as well as any PC I have ever seen, and even better than some.
I would strongly suggest that if the WMP on your iMac is not accepting WMA files from your PC that you call their tech help. Those folks are great!
    Hope this helps,
    Doug

  • Safari no longer runs windows media player files

so I am running safari 2.0.4 (419.3) and OSX 10.4.8 and Windows Media Player 9.0.0 (3307)
and I am going through the www.amazon.com pages to purchase a few CDs.
I find that when I click the Window Media audio sample link - Windows Media Player does open and claims the error "Windows media Player" cannot play this file because the Player does not support this file format."
Anybody know a work around to this issue.
I reinstalled WMP but still the problem persists.
    Cheers,
    Noah

    Hi Noah-
Windows Media Player will not play natively on an Intel Machine. The alternative is to install the free Flip4Mac. After installation, this plug-in includes its own preference panel in your System Preferences.
Give it a try and post back.
