Windows Media Center Has Stopped Working...

Since I first bought my Toshiba Satellite P305-S89151, I've received "Media Center has stopped working...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" responses.  When I click on the Close Program dialogue box, I'm provided with an MS KB (KB 947464) article pop-up that is suppose to help me resolve the problem. IT DOESN'T!!! When I click-thru on the KB link, the MS Support site says they can't find their own KB page!  Does anyone know how to repair this Media Center problem on Vista Home Premium (64bit)?
Thank you!

  • I definitely have put this under the wrong catergory but i don't care, I was wondering why everytime i click on a video to play it says: Windows media player has stopped working

Ok, so I made a video with Bandicam, and every time I click on it to play it (it is saved as an MP4), it just says: Windows Media Player has stopped working. Then it gives me two choices: Close the program OR look online for a solution. I REALLY want to
post these videos, but I can't. If anyone could help that would be great!

    Hi juderocks14,
Please first take a check with the other Players and see if they could play the MP4 file normally. If it can't be played, which means it might be corrupted. You may ask at the Bandicam side, or save the files again.
If issue insists, take a try with the Troubleshooter (For Windows 7, 8 and 8.1):
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
Or you may try to turn Windows Features on or off to reset Windows  Media Player:
Turn Windows features on or off (Before turn it on again, please remember to reboot first)

  • Continuous Error Message: Dell Support Center Has Stopped Working

I have Windows V8ista on an Inspiron530s. Through out any operation I continue to get the following massage:
"Dell Support Center Has Stopped Working                                                                                                                                                  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  For several weeks I have tried to find the reason for getting the error message. It will appear in a little box several times an hour during any operation. (internet or document) I can find no answers in any forum. I have an HP all-in one printer that I uninstalled & reinstalled the software for at the suggestion of another, but that did not solve the problem.
AT THE SAME TIME: I have Trend Micro Internet Security,(aka PC-Cillion) and though the firewall & defenses are up, I can not get it to scan the computer for virusus. I have talked with Trend Mico Tech Support 4 times on the phone and various adjustments have been made, but thhas been no fix. They seem to think the problem is connected to this error message.  I am at wits end. Can someone help??  :?/

    Ivy,
You never did tell us what version of Windows you're using. If it's XP, look in Windows Scheduled Tasks. If Dell Support Center is listed there, delete it.
Are you really sure you removed Support Center in Add/Remove Programs control panel?
According to Alexandra, one of the forum VIPs:
"The newest DSC 3.0 makes things complicated becomes it comes in 2 parts.  There's a 1+MB program called aulauncher.exe that apparently checks for compatibility, plus any current/old versions to be overwritten or uninstalled.  Only if the PC passes the aulauncher "test" do you get the full 40+MB DSC install program.  That's possibly the reason for "you already have the latest version".   Aulauncher also adds a "run once" key to the registry.    If the aulauncher doesn't get it right, you're stuck in a loop."
And see if there's anything helpful here, though the links in Dell-Telson's post might be out of date.

My new computer is a  T400 running Windows 7 (lenovo disk installed after purchase) .
While it still connects to the internet through the Windows(?) "open network and sharing center the Thinkvantage Technologies "access connections windows wireless service"  has stopped working.  It worked fine for a while (4-6 weeks).
Any ideas on how to get it started again?
    Thanks

Thank you for your reply.  I'm just not sure what "it" to uninstall or where to get the new "it" to download.  Would you mind adding those details for me?  I appreciate your help

  • Media Go Has Stopped Working - Z3 Compact (2015)

    HELP!
I thought that switching from Iphone to XPERIA was going to be a snap after I read all of the information on SONY's Website.
    How Horribly Wrong I was.
    1. Media Transfer Didn't work (did it all manually using a HOW TO: Youtube Video Online).
    2. I am Unable to Pair my Z3 Compact with my PC after several times of trying/uninstalling/changing PC settings.
    and....
    3. WORST OF ALL, My Z3 Compact will no longer Sync with Media Go. In fact, every time I plug my Z3 Compact in, media go takes about 20 seconds before it give me the ERROR MESSAGE: "MEDIA GO HAS STOPPED WORKING" .
I have tried Uninstalling, Re-Installing, Changing Settings and EVERYTHING I could find through Troubleshooting. Nothing has helped.
I am using a Samsung Laptop, with Windows 7, and don't have anything fancy uploaded to it. It's all very basic. If anyone has ANY help for ANY of these problems that would be greatly appreciated. I love the way my new phone works, but between the Bloatware, and the Continuous Software issues I've been having, I'm ready to switch again....HELP!

iTunes 11.0.1.12 and Windows 7 (32 bit, latest version). iTunes crashes frequently (Windows message : "iTunes has stopped working and will be closed"). I may be trying to search for an App. or book (or anything else), trying to access iTunes store, checking for updates to Apps., inputting my password, etc. etc. I have uninstalled iTunes several times, reinstalled several times, but the error persists. I tried the iTunes 10 suggested fix of running in safe mode, but iTunes again crashed when I was trying to create a new ID.

  • Windows desktop gadgets has stopped working

As of a few days ago my desktop gadgets have stopped working.  When I start Windows they appear to function normally for a minute or so then the error message "Windows desktop gadgets has stopped working" appears.  Sometimes there is a second attmept to launch the gadgets but it fails in the same manner.
Worryingly for the general robustness of Windows 7, performing a System Restore to a time before the problem arose did NOT fix the problem.

I have found this solution and worked perfectly for me, you might want to try it out!
I own no credit over this!
Thanks to " Ramesh Srinivasan   "
Is your Windows Sidebar (Windows Desktop Gadgets) crashing after adding a third-party gadget, with the error "Windows Desktop Gadgets has stopped working" or "Windows
Sidebar has stopped working" (Windows Vista) at every start? You can stop the offending gadget from loading by editing the Windows Sidebar Gadgets settings file. Here are the instructions, which apply to Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
If Sidebar.exe process is running, you wouldn’t be able to write to its settings file. Launch Task Manager (taskmgr.exe), select the sidebar.exe process and terminate it if it’s running.
Click Start, type the following path in the Search box and hit ENTER.
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar
(You can type it in the Run dialog as well.)
The above location is where the desktop gadgets store their configuration information, in a file named Settings.ini
First, make a copy of Settings.ini
Double-click Settings.ini to open it in Notepad.
Configuration information for the last installed desktop gadget is usually located at the end of the INI file. Using the PrivateSetting_GadgetName line as the hint, locate the corresponding [Section #], select all lines underneath
and delete it. Trim any blank lines that may have resulted from the deletion.
Then, move to the top of the INI file, and delete the Section# line that references the offending gadget. As you’ve removed the entries in [Section 5], also delete the following line:
    Section4="5"
Trim any blank lines that may have resulted from the deletion, and save the Settings.ini file.
Right-click on the Desktop, and click Gadgets. This starts the Sidebar.exe process and shows the gadgets listed in the Settings.ini file.

  • My PC is communicating with my HP C309a wirelessly, but the Hp solution Center has stopped working.

My PC (Dell XPS 9000) is communicating with my HP C309a wirelessly for printing, but the Hp solution Center has stopped working. Shouldn't I be able to use all functions wirelessly?
I'm getting an error message "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete. Please plug in the usb cable or re-run the set-up program from the instattation CD for a network installation."  When I put the installation disk in to remedy the problem, it tells me that my present software is the latest so it won't update. When I go to the update center, it tells me I have the latest software.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
     Try  these:
Click Start Menu icon>Programs>HP>HP Photosmart c309a>Add a Device
With this, it will find the wireless printer and reconfigure the settings; simply follow the prompts. After completion, try to reopen HP Solution Center.

  • Starts to load homepage, then Windows message: "Firefox has stopped working" All this after a Firefox update

Directly after an update, Firefox will no longer start. It begins to load my homepage, then fades away with the Windows message "Firefox has stopped working"
Looking at Norton security history, I see it blocked plugin-container.exe about the time the update was being downloaded.

I don't know if this is exactly the same problem, but here's what happened to me:
One day when I opened Firefox I got a prompt for updates. I got upgraded to version 3.6.16. That was over a week ago. This morning, I opened Firefox, got a prompt for updates, clicked ok, and I ended up upgrading again to 3.6.16. Norton gave me a notification about some file being used by fewer than 100 people and having "medium risk", but I wasn't able to take any action, just read.
Once that upgrade went through every time I tried to open Firefox, it'd pop up, I'd click no to "Do you want Firefox to be your default browser" and then it'd go white and freeze up. I'd get a message from Windows that there's a problem, Firefox has stopped working, it will be closed. No information was sent regarding the problem.
When I'd open Firefox I'd see two tabs: one about the upgrade to 3.16.6 along with an invitation to upgrade to version 4, and another being my homepage to yahoo.com.
I also have Internet Explorer, so I opened that, went to Firefox's website and downloaded version 4. So far that has taken care of the problem~I can use Firefox again.
However, I did have a couple small difficulties while downloading version 4. Right off it would not immediately start running. That was blocked by my Norton. So I had to click on "click here". Also during the process I got a message about two add-ons being incompatible, so they were disabled, and no updates could be found. They were: Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1. and Norton Toolbar 4.6.
I worried it was a virus but it seems like more of a compatibility problem involving maybe Norton? I have the 2010 version and haven't upgraded to Norton 2011 yet.
Anyway, like I said, so far version 4 is working fine, but I thought I'd pass on the incident.

  • Windows 7 - 'iTunes Has Stopped Working' Window Repeatedly Popping Up

Hi there, I've encountered a problem that I couldn't fix myself so I'm hoping someone can impart with some knowledge.
The dreaded 'iTunes has stopped working' window pops up constantly, and continues to reappear again and again. Even navigating to this forum, finding the right place to post and typing this very question is a pain as it has popped up about 7 times since I started typing it. If I leave my laptop alone for a few minutes, I come back and there's about 15 windows open saying the same thing. This is super annoying as I'm trying to get some work done, but any ounce of productivity I have is stifled by this. I am very close to headbutting the screen before I throw my laptop into oncoming traffic on the street below.
I've tried restarting the system, shutting it down and leaving it off for a bit, ending any iTunes-related processes in Task Manager but all have failed.
    I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
    HP Pavilion G6
    4GB RAM
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Windows Message 'iTunes has stopped working' and fails to sync my iPhone

Ive synced my iPhone so many times, but now its decided it doesnt want to co-operate. I dont have that much knowledge of iPhones when they go wrong.. So heres what happens and what I need help with..
I connect my iPhone to iTunes and it starts syncing and backing up my iPhone and when it gets to loading songs it gets to about the second song and a windows message pops up and says
    iTunes has stopped working
Windows can check online for a solition to the problem (i have clicked this and nothing happens)
and it also just tells me to close the program
Its beyond frustrating now, its happened about 10 times
I also downloaded the latest version of iTunes but that hasnt helped...
    Help!

Maybe you should try to re-install iTunes cleanly as described below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Hope this helps!

  • Just upgraded to 10.7 - cannot play movies or TV programs - iTunes freezes and Windows states iTunes has stopped working and kicks me out - play audio OK, store and synching to devices OK.

Running Windows Vista Home Premium - Service Pack2
iTunes has always worked beautifully - opened it yesterday and said upgrade was available so I did and upgrade seemed to be successful - no errors and program launches and all my music, TV programs, Movies, etc, were there. Audio works well.  Tonight I tried to play a movie and got the Windows iTunes has stopped working and searching for solution (which there is none) and closing the warning box closes iTunes.  iTunes used to launch a "separate" black window for my movies/TV - I seemed to get  a black background before everything freezes.  Not happy.  Thanks for any help - I tried to upgrade quicktime just to make sure it wasn't lagging behind the iTunes upgrade but that didn't help.

Let's try the following user tip with that:

  • Windows 7 - Itunes has stopped working

When I launch Itunes on my Windows 7 laptop it tries to access the Itunes store and says "itunes has stopped working"
    it then closes.
I can get it to work by creating a new account on my laptop in Windows 7 and switching ids & then launching Itunes
but I'd rather get my main one working.
    Help!

There are preference files at two locations, did you remove both?
Could you confirm that iTunes worked in another account, it is important to know for sure that that true.
Assuming it is, try creating a new empty library as follows:
Hold down the shift key and open iTunes, keep holding the shift key until you are prompted to create a library. Navigate to a location away from Music - for example Documents and create a library. Does iTunes open? This is just a test, so don't worry that it is empty.
*If iTunes opens*, it suggests your old library is damaged and you will need to rebuild your library as show in the troubleshooting method.
Before doing that you will need to use a shift key start to choose your old library. I am not certain if it will work if the library is damaged. If not drag iTunes library.itl out of your iTunes folder to the desk top and copy the iTunes Library.itl that you just created into your iTunes folder so it replaces the one you dragged out. Then use a shift key start to choose it. This is to ensure itunes is pointing at the right place before you re-create your library from the xml file as show in troubleshooting method.
