Windows media player 12 library is corrupted

I have a new HP p7-1236s with Windows 7 64bit OS. As I was setting up I needed to install the software for a Fuji Finepix A330 digital camera from a prior system. I installed from the CD which was not compatible with Win 7 and then used Fuji's Updater to bring it up to ver. 5.5 which worked fine.
After doing this I found I could not add video to my Windows Media Player 12 Library by playing an item. After much trouble shooting and a LOT of wasted time I determined that the WIndows Media Platyer Library is corrupted. (Used Microsoft's Auto Fixes which can reset Media Player so that set-up can be re-run but the library remains corrupted. Win Media Player 12 does not seem to be available independently. Only embedded in Windows 7.)
Nothing I do will correct it. All 'solutions' are circular. (Microsoft says contact HP. HP  Support Assistant  provides only useless FAQs. No information on how to actually contact HP (which Microsoft requries for OEM software.)
This appears to be a common problem. Can anyone offer any insight?  THanks.

I am not sure if this will work for the library but it may be worth a try:

  • Ipod Touch won't export my Windows Media Player library music automatically

My wife attached her Ipod touch, whilst linked thru her office PC to iTunes and it immediately and automatically started to transfer her Windows Media Player library onto the iPod....we tried the same by attaching my Touch to my laptop but there appears to be something preventing export from Windows MP - can anyone give me any tips as to what it might be and how i can turn it off?
Incredibly its my first ever purchase of an iPod and it was bought in advance of a week's holiday on 3rd April (next week) and i'm gonna be so disappointed if i cant take my music ! HEEELLLPPPP !

do you know what format the songs are in?

  • Songs are not showing up in my Windows Media Player Library

So the title says much of it, but I have music that I downloaded through the Itunes store that is not showing up for some reason in my WMP library. In fact, the vast majority of my songs do not show up in the library. I did not rip any of the songs, seeing
as I don't even know what ripping is or how to do it. I use Windows Media Player more extensively than Itunes, so it is really frustrating to not have most of my music useable.

    Hi,
Based on my research, if the extensions of the music are m4a, Windows Media Player cannot play them.
    More information:
Information about the Multimedia file types that Windows Media Player supports
    Cannot Play "m4a" Songs
on Windows Media Player or Movie Maker, Songs Purchased & Downloaded from iTunes
WMP Does NOT recognize m4a As Music
    Hope this helps.

  • I can't transfer unprotected music from my Windows Media Player library

I'm tryng to transfer my unprotected wma file to itunes library. I tried importing and add file or folder from "file" in I tunes. I tried placing " My Music " file on the desktop and then drag it to itunes . I transfered the WMP library once , but lost it when consolidating libraries in itunes. It converted the files and I downloaded them to ipod nano, then lost them again. Anyway to do this without burning to CD would be great. Thanks

What format was the music in? It would be either MP3, WAV, or WMA, it could in theory but in your case unlikely be also in AAC or Apple Lossless. iTunes does not support artwork in WAV files.
When music is added to Windows Media Player from a CD, typically the album artwork is not put in the music files itself but is instead stored as separate JPEG files in the folder the music file is in, this might explain things. I have not tried WMP12 but with older versions the quality of the album artwork was very poor so getting new artwork from the iTune Store as described by zsnow would be a better choice anyway as the iTunes Store has artwork at 600x600 pixels which is (was) three times as good as WMP.
If the iTunes Store does not do all the tracks and you still need to do some, you can either look for the JPEG files I mentioned and use those, or use Google to search for images and copy and paste them in to iTunes.

  • ITunes gift card for Windows Media Player library

I am wanting to buy an iTunes giftcard for my brother for his birthday, however he runs his MP3 player through Windows Media Player (Vista) and has never used iTunes before. Will he be able to copy over the files once downloaded so that they'll be usable through Media Player?
If not, then obviously I'll have to think again!
    Cheers

He needs to install this plugin or convert the songs into MP3 in iTunes, and purchase only iTunes Plus content.

  • HT1711 Will iTunes Match locate music in my Windows Media Player library?

Will iTunes Match locate and match my music in Windows Media Player?

    No it will not.
That media can be added to iTunes and then iTunes Match will find it.

  • I can burn CDs from Windows Media Player, but not from itunes.  I always get Error 2131.  How do I transfer music files from itunes to Window Media Player Library?...or convince itunes to burn a CD?

    Cannot burn CD from itunes.

The thing is, they are in the unprotected format? (
They are protected WMA from when you RIP'd them with WMP. iTunes will not read them.
Go to WMP Tools -> Rip Music.
Under Rip settings, it is set to *Windows Media Audio* and most likely *Copy protect music* is ticked. This is how it is protected.
You will need to reRIP them all from CD.

  • Windows Media Player Library Location

    Hi,
I've just got a NMH-410, and have uploaded all my music to it.
Which directory do I point WMP library location to, the hub, the import directory, or the music folder?
    Thanks
    newportg

If you used the Linksys import tool to import your music files to the mediahub then point WMP library to the "import" folder since thats where files are imported from the PC. But if you manually copied your files to the "music" folder then it should be the music folder.
    Cheers.

  • Converted songs from Windows Media Player to itunes show up in the library but will not play

I just installed itunes for the purpose of converting my Windows Media Player library to itunes.  I went through the install and added the music folder.  itunes went through the conversion process overnight and all of my songs appear in the music library.  However some songs will play properly and if you open them in windows explorer they are in a folder called my music/downloads and are mpeg files.  Other songs that are listed in the music library and appear to have been converted will not play.  When you click on these songs that won't play it appears to be playing in the progress bar on top, but no sound comes out and the EQ visualizer shows nothing.  When you open these songs in Windows explorer they are located in a folder: my music\i tunes\itunes media\music and they are a .AAC audio file type. What went wromg in this conversion process? Why is itunes putting these files in two different locations?  Why will these files not fully convert and play?

This is also what I suspected but why would the songs go through conversion, show up in the library, and then not play?  Apple support even says "itunes for Windows cannot import or play WMA files that are protectd."  Yet the imported song is sitting in the library and when you play it the song is listed and the diamond advances - but no sound.
Also, any tips on how to see if a WMA file is protected by DRM?
    Thank you for your response.

  • How can I upload my Itunes library to Windows Media Player?

    Hello,
    Please can someone help me.
I want to keep my Windows Media Player library in sync with my Itunes library.
Does anyone know how to do this?

In WMP, go to Library > Add to Library, and make sure it is watching any folder where you have music, such as My Music. Then, as you add songs to your iTunes library manually, WMP will add them automatically to its library. (The opposite will not work, since iTunes does not have the ability to automatically watch folders.)
Since you will be using both players, I strongly suggest you use music only in MP3 format. Also, you must absolutely avoid purchasing any tracks with DRM, since there is no DRM scheme that both players can handle.

  • Issue with Star Ratings in Windows Media Player 12 on Win7

The particular issue I'm having is this. I can star rate my music a 1, 2, 3, or 4. However if I try to rate anyone particular song a 5 star Rating, it shows it as a 0 star rating. This is happening on my desktop system as well as my laptop.  I never
had this problem before. And I'm not really sure when this problem started. Also, it shows 5 star rated songs a 0 star rating in explorer as well. Any help to figure out this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all who reply.

    Hi Cougar Mutimedia ,
Will the issue occur with specific file type , specific file or all the file ?Have you tried to re-join the music to have a check ?
We can try the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a check :
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories\Windows Media Player Library ,Windows Media Player Settings
Or try the following tool :
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/windows_media_player_diagnostic?wa=wsignin1.0
If the issue persists,we may need to reinstall the Windows Media Player to have check .
Click “Start” button, type “windows features” in the program search box and hit enter.
    1. In the “Windows Features” dialog box, look for “Media Features” and expand it.
    2. Clear “Windows Media Player” check box.
    3. As soon as you clear the check box, you will see a pop-up saying that “The following Windows features will also be turned off because they are dependent on Windows Media Player.” The listed program is “Windows Media Center”.
    4. Go ahead and click “Yes”. Windows will now begin uninstalling WMP12.
    5. You to restart Windows for the uninstallation to complete.
    6. Click “Start” button, type “windows features” in the program search box and hit enter.
    7. In the “Windows Features” dialog box, look for “Media Features” and expand it.
    8. Check boxes “Windows Media Player” and “Windows Media Center”.
    9. Click “OK”. Windows will take some time in reinstalling them. Wait for the process to finish.
    10. You to restart Windows for the installation to complete.

  • Importing Playlists from Windows Media Player

I was wondering if there was any way I could transfer all of my music from my Windows Media Player library, to my iTunes library. I have tried import on the "File" button on iTunes, but it didn't work.
    Dell   Windows XP

If it' sprotectged WMA files, no you can't add them.
If they are plain WMA (like RIPped from a CD) you can File -> Add to library and iTunes will import and convert them.

  • Windows Media Player 11 not recognizing files on Creative Zen X-Fi?

I recently made an attempt to synchronize the files on my Creative Zen X-Fi to my Windows Media Player library to transfer them to my other MP3 player, however I receive this message when I attempt to view the files and sync them: "There are no files on this device. To begin, sync files to the device." The files are definitely existent as I can listen to and view them on the device and WMP has recognized there is only 8 MB of space remaining. • How do I transfer from Windows Media Player to ipod?

I have recently brought my first ipod and need help transfering my libary onto my ipod.

    Hello bountyboy,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
The first thing you will have to do is import the music that is currently in your Windows Media Player library over to your iTunes library because that is the only way you will be able to sync any music to it. Here is an article that provides instructions on how to do this: [Transfer Music from Windows Media Player to iTunes|http://www.jakeludington.com/askjake/20080329_transfer_music_from_windows_media_player_toitunes.html]
From there, you will be able to set your iPod up to sync the music and such however you wish. If you need more help on how to sync the music to your iPod, I think this Apple support document should be able to assist you.

  • Transfer files from Windows Media Player

How do I put songs that are in my Windows Media Player library on my itunes library?

Thank you for the above link, however there was little information to go by.
What does it mean when this message appears "iTunes will automatically convert the WMA format songs to the AAC format so they can be added to your library - Convert or Skip". Does this mean if I convert them to AAC format I can't convert them back to WMA?? Or will the file be lost? Which do I choose?
