Windows Media Player/Real: No audio
Hello!
I have been experiencing no sound from either WMP or Real Audio. I have unistalled them both, run Cocktail, then installed again, but they still don't work. From Real I get picture but no audio. From WMP, it starts loading the WM file then I get this message (even from old files that used to play just fine): "This file may not play correctly because it was compressed by using a codec that is not supported."
Has anybody else experienced this? Have you guys any solution to this?

Have you tried playing several different clips from different sources or does this happen at 1 specific site?
I have real and mplayer, 99% of the time they work great.
On certain sites they don't-I suspect is the websites fault.
You also do know that Windows stopped updating their player for the Mac-it is an older version. The clip you are trying to play may require the newest version which MS does not supply to Mac users.

You can click the Volume icon on the Windows Taskbar near the clock and click the Mixer link at the bottom to open the mixer.<br />
You can adjust the volume level for each application in that window, so make sure that Firefox is not muted or set at a low level.<br />
Current Firefox versions use the plugin-container process to run plugins, so you need to check the volume setting for the plugin-container process.<br />
You will only see the Firefox program or the Plugin Container in the Mixer if you are on a website that plays sound.<br /> -

0x1) is there a way to disable annoying autoplay feature in windows media player: when i play music in "now playing" mode and insert a disc which contains some video WMP stops playing music and asks me to play that disc or starts playing without any questions (e.g. when i insert DVD). in addition when WMP asks before playing it proposes three options: resume playing, go to library and play previous list. choosing "resume playing" you'll not resume the music just played, you'll start playing inserted disc. if you choose "play previous list", it also won't continue the playlist i was just playing, rather a playlist or track before the one i was just playing! very strange behaviour, isn't it?
note that this happends only in "now playing" mode, when library is active everything works fine.
please don't tell to go to control panel and change autoplay settings: it takes no effect. it works when WMP is not started or if WMP is not in "now playing" mode, otherwise WMP ignores that settings and demonstrates his "very intellectual"automatic playing.
0x2) when playing FLAC files windows media player doesn't show progress indicator, it always is positioned at the beginning (or at the place where you've positioned it). if i select multiple FLAC files and click "play with windows media player" it will play only the last file from the selected list.
0x3) when playing AVI files with two or more audio tracks WMP plays only one of them and gives no opportunity to change autio track. in wmp of vista it plays all the audio tracks at the same time (!).
If there is no solution for these problems, please tell me where i can send a feedback about my complaints?i use K-Lite 5.2 full codec pack. in the k-lite codec tweak tool report i see madFLAC.ax installed. i'll try the Xiph.org filters.

Recording audio in Adobe Audition from a DVD played on Windows Media Player
I use Adobe Audition for audio production. I should be able to play a DVD via Windows Media Player and record the audio from it using Adobe Audition.
It isn't working.
I get a pop-up message indicating: INVALID ASIO INPUT (it continues to read) ! The selected input port or ASIO driver is invalid. Please change your settings in the audio hardware setup dialogue.
I tried that approach, and was not offered the ability to make that change.
Anyone have any ideas? My much older VAIO Sony computer handled this perfectly.

in the corporate world wee have to contend with clients who are all windows based and prevented from installing anything on their systems.
I use Flip4Mac, Studio Pro HD, with the following mix of settings;
Open clip in QT, I do also use compressor but for some reason I like using QT for exporting to WMV.
File/Export
Export:movie to windows media
Use: One pass VBR, Presentation (high), 16:9
Options>
Advanced... input type: interlace Lower field first(DV), output type: progressive
Coding method: Two pass VBR
Give this a shot and then tweak to suit your needs, oh and you can save your settings as a preset for QuickTime.
Within Compressor there is no export to WMV, so you have to start with another setting and create your own saving it for future use.

We are going to have to get at your export settings which gets us to the properties of the finished video that you are trying to play in Windows Media Player.
If you take your finished video from Premiere Elements 13 and import that into a new Premiere Elements 13 project with Add Media/Files and Folders,
does it import into the new project. And, when the video is in the new project, does it display video and have audio in the Edit area monitor?
We need more details of the properties of the finished video. Knowing that you have no problems with this matter in Premiere Elements 12 and that
the finished video plays in CyberLink are important, but they do not help to figure out what is happening in 13 so that it does not happen again.

Windows Media Player for audio on one website does not load?
I have Firefox v8.01, Windows 7 OS. On one of my websites, the Windows Media Player does not load. The audio works on IE9 but not on Firefox. I have used the same code on other sites that work just fine in Firefox, IE and Chrome. I can't fix the problem because I don't know where the problem lies? I have disabled all my Firefox add-ons which provided no solution. The site is http://www.music.articleposts.com This is a blog site and the sound code is in a widget.

You're welcome If I may say, you have tried everything is too broad a statement when trying to get help we need to know what you have tried.
Have you tried a freshly created test account? See this doc, on how, if you haven't see this on 10.4 & Adding a new user account to your computer, this helps to show if this is a problem isolated to your username account or system wide.
Do you have the plugin components mentioned?
Are you running 3rd party Safari extending applications?
Has Flip4mac ever worked for you?
Post a Url of the video you are trying to watch, or an example of similar would help, so we may try it.
Can you view Youtube & google vids?
• If those are your correct specs you show your os is extremely behind, missing all the fixes
the subsequent os updates & security updates offer. If they are incorrect please take a sec, to correct, adding the size of drive & ram would help as well

Look at A. Brodys post on how to update properlya. Brody now that 10.4.6 is out lets review..albeit it os 10.4.6 it still applies up to 10.4.10, his is the first post, ( this was the start of the double boot after os update.)
Apologies if you already know all this I can't not know, prefer err on the side of caution.....
• Note that your problem sounds different then the original posters problem, he doesn't speak of freezing, you are running a ppc ibook he a Macbook on 10.4.10.
Please post your own topic & articulate what the "everything" you have tried happens to be, you are more likely to get the help you need, no doubt it must be most
annoying not to be able to view what you know you can.

Audio sync different between QuickTime and Windows Media Player
I've run into a new problem I've never encountered before. When playing a video on QuickTime on a Windows PC, the audio is in perfect sync. However, when I play the same QT video on Windows Media Player, the audio is out of sync by as much as three seconds. The Windows software is current. The source content is created using ProTools 10 on a Mac running Yosemite, from an original QT mp4 converted to a .mov via quicktime for import into ProTools. The output was a standard .mov. I also tried converting it to an mp4 via QT, but the result was the same.
This is a pretty alarming discovery as I now have to test any videos bounced from ProTools on a PC Windows Media Player to make sure someone doesn't view it this way, with the audio sync appearing incorrectly.

or you can copy the file over onto your own quicktime enabled PC and use the free, and much faster, windows media encoder there. -
.avi video clip audio not working in premiere pro but play is windows media player

Using .avi video files. They play fine in windows media player. In premiere pro, the video plays fine, but there is no audio. When moved to a sequence, it builds an audio track, but it is silent. Windows Media Player and audio engine behavior
I have made one LFX and one GFX module both residing in the same dll.
I have noticed some strange behavior with windows media player which I don't understand.
When playing back audio with WMP there are always two processes (image names) that loads my dll with APOs. One process called audiodg.exe and one called svchost.exe. My understanding is that my APOs would be loaded only by the audio engine which I belief
is found in audiodg.exe.
Is there any explanation of why WMP causes my APO dll to be loaded by two different modules (image names) at the same time?
One of the reasons I'm asking is that I have problems getting my APOs working correctly with the tidal web player (tidal.com). I'm not sure what the problem is but I can see that my APO dll is loaded by two different modules (image names) at the same time,
just like WMP.

When someone calls IAudioClient::IsFormatSupported(...), your SFX is loaded into audiosrv to answer the query. Some media players call this, and some don't.
When audio actually plays, audiosrv launches audiodg.exe. audiodg.exe builds the full audio pipeline from app to driver, including all of your APOs.
Some time after audio stops playing, audiodg.exe shuts itself down.

Cannot view or play audio or video coded for windows media player, and do not see javascript
I designed a website that uses a little bit of JavaScript. It displays fine in IE (9), but not in Firefox. Does anyone know why, and what the fix is?
Also, and more importantly, I coded audio and video files with Windows media player's class id. They will not show or (obviously) play in Firefox. I downloaded and installed the plug in for Firefox, but no change. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have run across this problem, and I'm surprised that Mozilla hasn't built a fix in the 4.0 version. So, any ideas out there?
Thanks!Firefox won't play the media file if there is a classid specified in the object tag. You either need to use conditional code to hide an object without classid for Firefoz from IE or use an embed for Firefox.

Windows Media Player not selecting custom audio renderer filter on Windows 7 (works with graphedit)
Hi there,
I have custom directshow audio renderer filter derived from CBaseRenderer base class and implements IBasicAudio interface.
Filter works fine with graphedit and media player classic, I am able to receive audio data. But when I try to play file using Windows Media Player, filter gets callback in completeconnect followed by breakconnect and then its discarded.
Things I have tried so far --
Implement IBasicAudio interface, still fails with WMP
Modify audio renderer filter to connect with video decoder, it works fine with WMP and I can get dump of raw video data
Implement IReferenceClock interface, still fails with WMP
Implement this filter using CBaseFilter as base class, still same outcome, CompleteConnect on receive pin followed by BreakConnect and filter is discarded
It seems that Windows Media Player is looking for some specific interface that I might have not implemented or is picky for audio renderer. I found similar issue at https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/windowsdesktop/en-us/6e5985fb-3ca2-41b3-9a99-7a9b97ae7357/directshow-filter-stopped-working-in-windows-7-media-player.
But it seems unresolved.
Please help, am stuck on this issue for 3 days without any luck. Any clues on this is appreciated.

Most of QuerryInterface calls received in NonDelegatingQuerryInterface callback inside filter are same as that for greaphedit.
From http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mediasdkstuff/archive/2008/09/19/custom-directshow-audio-renderer-hangs-playback-in-windows-media-player-11.aspx, it seems that WMP on Windows 7 uses preferred list of filters using IAMPluginControl that cannot be modified
by 3rd party.
There has to be some workaround for this that am trying to figure out. Any clues on this?

Noo audio in Windows media Player when playing video exported in Mpeg format
Hi there, I really need help
I have edited a video and removed the audio.
I have added a song in the soundtrack part of the timeline.
When I 'share' as an 'mpeg' it renders etc perfectly.
When I play it on my comp it plays perfectly - In premiere and WMP
But If I put the file onto a usb or something similar and try to play it on another computer there is no audio.

I have windows vista Premium.
The computer I am trying to play it on has XP home edition 2002 and Windows media player 10.
The video is for a friend to put on their website, and chances are the audio wont appear on their computer either? I dont have internet on my comp so I havent tried uploading to youtube, so I don't know about that either, I would like youtube to recognise my audio also.
SO What I want is to be able to make a video, with audio that pretty much anyone can watch on any computer.
Please help.
JoshuaIt appears that, when you output your MPEG, you chose an audio codec that your friend's computer doesn't support. (It's Dolby Digital by default. So entering the Advanced settings and changing the audio codec to MPEG or PCM might help.)
It's also possible your friend's operating system is way out of date, sine he's still running Media Player 10. He should go to Windows Update, select the Custom option and get all of the necessary updates.
He may have to do this several times, with computer restarts in between, if he's way behind with his updates, since some updates depend on other updates being installed. In the end, his XP should be at SP3. -
Title says it all: trying to play any .mp4 video files, or anything that utilizes .mp4 files period, will have the video play just fine, but with absolutely no audio at all. I run a Windows 7 Home Premium, and have tested several sites that utilize .mp4 video files, and have tested it on Internet Explorer, with Explorer showing better results at playing both the audio and video.
I have checked to see if media.windows-media-foundation.enabled is true in the about:config menu, and restarted Firefox, but to no avail. Any ideas as to what could be the root of this problem?Hi Soundless_Cyborg,
Can you please specify an example url where this is happening, sometimes the video player does not support the codec.
Maybe you need to set it as default for this file type:
Open Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs > Set your default programs > Select Windows Media Player from the lists under Programs > Set this program as default > OK
