Is there an app that plays WMV files that use the windows media video 9 screen codec?

Or just search wmv in the app store.
There are tons of players-I prefer avplayerhd.

No, CorePlayer promises that it's coming but it's not there yet.
N96 and N78 are promising WMV support, I guess one the codec is in the devices (N96, N78) then other players will take advantage of it being there.
For now all we can do is wait for these products to come out.

I have a Windows Media video file on my homepage that plays automatically when you go to the website. I'd like to change my homepage. I now would like to place text that says "click here to play the video" and I'd like a pop up window to open and play the video. I'm using Dreamweaver CS6. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't bother with a Flash fall back for old browsers though. I just put in text letting the viewer know they're behind the times pretty severely, like...

For junky old browsers that can't see any HTML5 (which the <video> and <audio> tags are), they get a text message to get something better and a link to go there.

Does anyone know of a way to insert a windows media video file instead of the standard Quicktime video? Most of the viewers who will come to my site are Windows based and on corporate networks that will not allow them do download and install Quicktime. Thanks very much, great site.

Opening Windows Media videos in Safari

When clicking on windows media video file, the video will open, but also goes to a blank browser page -- being new to Safari -- can this be changed for PC (and Macs)?
I would like to have just the windows media application open to see the video, while still being on the same browser page I was at and not having to use the Back arrow button to return to the previous page.

You cannot use the WMP plug-in on an Intel Mac. To make it work you have to force Safari to run via Rosetta. Select Safari then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Check the box labeled "Open in Rosetta."

iTunes cannot import Windows Media Video. You'll have to use some other software to convert your WMV into a format iTunes can accept. Try Videora iPod Converter, which many people seem to have success with.

If you are asking what program you need to watch WMV files then the answer is none. The only phones that support this are some of the newer FP2 models like the N96 & N85. For older models there is no software that lets you watch WMV's.
If thats not what you are asking then please try to explain in more detail exactly what you want.

You can give this a try. Offhand, I can't think of any other way to do it. This will cost you a few dollars in order to do this.
I assume that you know how to copy the file from the USB drive to the PC, so copy the file to the PC.
Download an app like the Wireless Transfer App on your iPad, You will be able to upload the file to the iPad using a Web Browser on the PC.

You might want to read the descriptions about these apps before you get started. There are other WiFi transfer apps that you can download in the App Store and one of the others may have more appeal to you. I did a quick Google search for the Windows media file player as well. I'm sure that there are other apps that will play the files that you can look for if this one doesn't seem to suit your needs.
NOTE: Make sure that you read the support information and instructions for the Video Player app because I don't use the app and I'm not sure how you get the files into the app once you have transferred the video to the iPad. I assume that you can use "Open In" like you use for other apps on the iPad.

G570 4334 DVD problem regarding windows media message saying missing codecs

I am stumped on this. When we go to play any dvd, it works until it gets to the main program. That a message comes up saying that we are missing the proper codes or our video driver needs to be updated. The driver seems to be fine. The codecs seem to be fine but I have installed Cnet's codecs.
Anyone have any ideas of what is wrong?

Here is the exact message that I am receiving. My video driver is up to date. I am using the original dvd's and not doing anything wrong with copy protection.
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.

I have discovered it is not possible to include Windows Media clips in iWeb pages. iWeb automatically queues QT on any browser viewing the page with a movie embedded regardless of the movie's format. Is anyone aware of a work-around for this?

HERE IS A SUPER SIMPLE SOLUTION that will pull up the windows media player & play your video
You need to make a non-movie page, any will do. Start your movie and take a photo of it with shift-apple-4. This will give you an image of the movie and also the Windows Media Player frame. Place this image on your page, give it a title etc and make sure the image is selected. Using the inspector, chose Link to File. When you do this, navigate to the wmv file that corresponds. When you upload your site, that file will be stored along with it and when the link is hit the wmv movie will launch

Inserting Windows Media video file on top of image

Can anyone tell me how to get a windows media file inserted on top of an image? I did it once by making the image the page background, but that prevented me from being able to create hotspots on the image for links. Now the 2nd time around, I have the image placed through the Insert command but can't figure out how to insert the video on top of it. Click below to see the two examples. Thanks.

I know there are different options for embedding video. I started off with WM to see how well it may work. If I have any problems, I may try converting it fo to another format such as flash, or even uploading it to a youtube site and embedding the code. Thanks for the advice.

hey guys the same is happening to me. i bought my ipod 6 days ago, and i´ve tried to transfer videos from digital cameras (sony, canon and nicon) in mpeg format and I cant play them with audio.
What I do is just turn them to Ipod format, then the video is converted and the audio disapears. It´s not a problem of the ipod since I can´t hear the audio also in the software, where i converted them.
Please help me, I just wanna see and hear my videos.

Need to create a HD Windows Media Video (wmv) from an HD sequence

i thought i could simply create a QT-DVCPro Hd .mov file, transfer it over our network to a PC, and encode it using the free 'Windows Media Encoder'.... WRONG! i can't seem to play any QT HD file on any PC, i have tested both DVCPro HD and HDV. The audio plays fine, but the QT screen remains black. does anyone have any other ideas? i guess my last resort would be to purchase the FLIP4MAC Pro version for $179, but if i could avoid that, even better! Thanks for any input.

If you have After Effects, you can output WMV. If not, try download flip4mac trial version and test (limited to 10 secs of output). Other options are telestream's Episode, but that's far pricier.
Don't know much about the PC environment, but have you downloaded Quicktime for Windows - that might help. Or else output to a format that Windows Media Encoder likes.
