Windows mediaplayer/flip for mac

does anyone know if either of these two things work on the Intel machines? I cannot seem to find anything and when i have tried these downloads they don't work.

If you read the information on Intel Macs you would know that PowerPC plug-ins, preference panes, contextual menu items, etc. that are not universal binaries will not work.
WMP and Flip4Mac players will run as standalone apps via Rosetta, but their plug-ins will not work until they have been converted to universal binaries.

If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3 or G4 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC
System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies
Browser and other plug-ins
Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries

Be sure to verify with developer or from information on download sites whether software is a universal binary. Many of the incompatible products currently in use will likely be updated in time.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers. These versions are not universal binaries and will not work on Intel-Macs. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the only current choice is USB Overdrive. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior (does not work), TechTool Pro (does not work), SuperDuper (newest release works), and Drive Genius (untested) may not work properly on Intel-Macs. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.

No Audio with Flip for Mac, MIDI Settings Seem OK

Hello,
I am using Flip for Mac to stream Windows content. On most sites (You Tube etc.) it seems OK. On some however, the video plays fine, but there is no audio.
Since the video streams fine, I assume it is not a DRM issue. The MIDI Audio Input is set at 44100Hz. The MIDI Audio Output window says 'Output is not supported.' I only use the internal speakers and don't have any external ones connected to perhaps the MIDI Output is irrelevant.
But, is this more of a QuickTime7.2 compatability issue? I am only running a lower version of Flip for Mac, none of the 'Pro' upgrades so did not think it would be an issue. Are there any other common settings one should double check?

Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:

Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)

In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

Flash Player Protected Mode provides a modern, sophisticated set of security protections that we see as critical in today's security landscape.
We highly recommend that users not disable ProtectedMode. Also, it's worth noting that by manually changing your mms.cfg, you have opted out of Protected Mode for all future versions of Flash Player, as we will continue to honor that preference. Ultimately, this is an issue with the RealPlayer Browser Record plug-in.     Launch RealPlayer
    Click the RealPlayer icon in the upper-left corner of the window, and choose Preferences
    Choose Download & Recording from the left-hand menu
    Uncheck "Enable Web Download & Recording for these installed browser"
    Click OK

I have the latest version of flip for mac installed. For the last few months when someone sends a video with email when i click on play button at end of email on the video box I only get audio for the first 30-40 seconds & then the video kicks in. how can i correct this

It's ok to do this even though you are already running 10.6.2 The update includes Safari plug-in reliability.
If that doesn't help try ...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.

If you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure *Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*

Utilizing the program flip for mac wmv

I have installed flip for mac wmv and everytime I have accessed a program that utilizes windows media player it doesn't go to quicktime. It actually cannot open and keeps sending me to the windows website to download media player for mac, which I have previously posted I cannot open after downloading because my mac informs that I need to choose the application to open it. Thanks for any help.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

Problems with Windows Media Player for Mac's

Is it safe to download and opperate Windows media player for Mac's to view video on the web ?
Anybody has experience with it ? What are possible problems that may be encountered ? Thanks for any input or feedback.

Sure, why not?
You should know that's it's discontinued, and no longer developed by Microsoft, and therefore will never be native to Intel Macs. You should look to the free Flip4Mac QuickTime plugin from flip4mac.com

Try to update QuickTime plugin, if it is not updated, uninstall and install it again.

Transcribing WMA tapes and Flip for Mac message?

After a recent upgrade to 10.9 I have had a repetitive message overlaid when I transcribe WMA tapes from a DSS player: 'this is a demonstration of Flip for Mac.' It seems to come and go though, this morning it repeated throughout a whole transcription, then when I replayed the tape the message had disappeared, but played over a tape I transcribed yesterday which was message free.
As I recall as part of the installation of the system upgrade I was asked to remove Flip for Mac and the install it again, but that is a bit hazy.
I have spoken with Olympus and upgraded their software for my recordning machine.
Do I need to use Flip for Mac at all and is that a change introduced by Apple in the last system update? It is making the daily job I do of transcribing more than a little frsutrating.

Are these tracks copy-protected (they almost certainly will be if they were purchased from a download store)? If so, then there's no way to play them in Mac OS X.

Conflict with Windows Media Player for Mac

I´ve installed parallel desktop on my mac (MacBook Pro), then Windows so I can run a PC only program. The conflict is this: When I want to play a video on WMP (for mac), for example: when I receive an email with a video clip to be played and I double click it, Parallel Desktop starts up automaticaly to play it on windows. I´ve right clicked and tried to specify that WMP on my mac should be the one to open videos by default; but it´s not working, or I´m doing something wrong.
Any wisdom? Thanks in advance.

select a .wmv file and enter command+i. in the resulting popup go to "open with" section, select the default application you want (not a Windows Media player for Mac which is extinct) to use and click "change all". see if it sticks now.

You need to contact Intuit, from this page: http://quickbooksonline.intuit.com/questions-answers.jsp
There's a link there for converting data from Peachtree to Quickbooks, which requires you to contact them; clicking on that Contact Us link for that FAQ item takes you to another page where you select which product you have, so they can address your needs.

Windows Media Player for Mac issue

Lately, and I not sure when it started. When I goto a radio station's website who offers streaming of their broadcasts, I click on the link, WMP opens and starts playing (although there is a delay). In the activity viewer of Safari, I see that their is an error loading the plugiin....it says "plugin cancelled." However, the window still plays. I do not have Flip4mac installed either. I assume WMP is playing it as it looks like the little WMP window that opens up in the broswer.
Can anyone confirm?

Thanks for the info, but I am trying to determine if I have an issue with WMP mac and Safari. When I click on that link, eventually I get it to play, but I get an error in the activity window for Safari. I am wondering if any of the recent updates affected this (10.4.7 or security updates).
Do you have WMP installed? If you uncheck the pref that says use flip 4 mac, what happens if you use safari and then it tries to open in WMP plugin.
Like I said, it works after a long pause, but I still get an error at the bottom in the status bar and the message "plugin cancelled."
